EPISODE 11: YUMI HITO UNDER SURVEILANCE? THE DEAL WITH THE BOSS!

Yumi stared at the short yellow-haired boy, squatting in front of her table at Lunch hour, her box of rice, sitting half-finished on her desk beside a stack of completed homework books.

'…. you what?'

'I wanna duel you!' He said, 'I saw your duel with Naki, and I thought, wow, what a powerful duelist!'

Yumi sighed, looking out the window at the Black-suited men standing past the metal cage separating the school from the outside. 'I'm eating right now, maybe later…'

The kid frowned. 'But lunch break's an hour to over! We can't action duel in that time!'

'Then make it a regular duel.' She said stuffing her mouth with food. 'I'll be there.'

The kid had run off, and Yumi continued to stare at the men out the window. They had been there for at least two weeks now, and she was beginning to think they were hindering her performance.

'Something wrong?' Minato asked. He had been trying hard to make up for requesting her to join the Z-hunters.

'I's nothing.' She said politely, gulping down her food and closing the now empty box, running off to the Action Room.

The kid stood before Yumi, preparing to go first.

'I summon, TRI-BRIGADE NERVALL!'

A Plague doctor with wings, blue steampunk bombs hanging from their clothing, appeared donning a black outfit.

'Now, I set two cards and end my turn!'

The cards appear on the ground

Yumi put her hand on what was formerly Mirai's duel disk, as she had noticed a small audience building up.

She smiles and draws.

'I summon RIlliona, the Magistus of Verre!'

The glass witch appears, acting sleepily.

'Now, I activate her effect, allowing me to add a 'Magistus' Spell to my hand; That is TRISMAGISTUS!'

The spell flipped up from the ground, and RIlliona was surrounded by a magical triangle with a curcle on it.

'IT ALLOWS ME TO SPECIAL SUMMON A MAGISTUS FROM MY HAND, ONCE PER TURN! COME, CROWLEY, MAGISTUS OF GRIMORES!'

The robed sorcerer appeared, generating a floating ritual circle.

'ATTACK, INVOCATION BLOW!'

The kid flinches back, as a beam of light emerged from the ritual circle, destroying his monster and leaving his life points at 4300

'You shouldn't've summoned a monster with zero attack, NOW RILLIONA! GLASS HAILBLAST!'

Balls of glass were conjured out of thin air, hitting the kid, leaving his life points at 3400

The kid draws.

'I send rescue cat to the graveyard from my hand, and summon two TRI-BRIGADE KITTS!'

A girl with bunny ears, wearing construction glasses and an orange top, appeared, as the Link circuit manifested

'APPEAR, LINK CIRCUIT!'

'THE REQUIREMENTS ARE TWO TRI-BRIGADE MONSTERS!'

The monsters turned into light; the light being absorbed by the circuit.

'COME FORTH, TRI-BRIGADE FERRJIT THE BARREN BLOSSOM!'

The monster that came out of the circuit was a bunny-reared cyberpunk-sniper. She raised her sniper at RIlliona,

'I attack your RIlliona with Ferrjit! RABID SNIPER!'

The sniper bunny shot RIlliona, RIlliona shattering into glass on impact. Yumi is now at 7200 life points.

'That's my turn done! What's your move!?'

Yumi draws, only to notice the black-suited men, crowding her audience.

'Oh, come on- I summon Zoroa the Magistus of Flame, and Tune him with Crowley!'

Zoroa turned into synchro circles, surrounding Crowley as he turned into a beam of light.

'SYNCHRO SUMMON: APPEAR, LEVEL 8: ZOROA THE MAGISTUS CONFLRANGANT CALAMITY!'

The behemoth appears on the field once again, from the shining white light and Yumi proceeds to battle phase.

'I- 'She then realises something was missing 'I forgot to equip a monster to Him!' Embarrassed, frustrated, however still wanting to win, she continued with her attack.

'GO, FLAMES OF ULTIMATIUM!'

The kid's life points drop to 2100, and Yumi sighs and ends her turn.

'Those men are really throwing me off…' she thought.

The kid draws

'I set a trap card and end my turn!'

Yumi begins her turn, trying to focus.

'I use my MAGISTUS THEUGRY equip my Zoroa wit Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden! She's a link monster, so your Links cannot activate their effects!'

A moon shine upon Zoroa.

'ALRIGHT, MY FACE-DOWN TRI-BRIGADE REVOLT ACTIVATES! I GET TO SUMMON OUT MY NERVALL, AND LINK SUMMON WITH HIM!'

The plague doctor reappears, the link circuit following them as the link monster and the Plague doctor enter the circle, the sniper turning into two arrows as the doctor into one.

'COME, LINK 3: RUGALL THE SILVER SHELLER!'

A mask-wearing dog-man mix appeared in a gunman robe, waving around a musket with an axe attached to it.

Then now, battle phase' Yumi declares, missing out on another effect, to add a card to her hand using Artemis.

'I may have to ask Minato about them soon.'

'NOW, MOONLIT ULTIMATIUM!'

The magician aims a blast of fire from his fist at the moon, the moon firing a beam at the dog, as the kid's life points drop to 1800.

'I end my turn, get yours over with.'

The kid draws, desperately thinking.

'I-I guess…' he sighs, taking in defeat. 'That end my turn…'

Yumi wastes no time, attacking the kid again, as his life points go down to zero, helping him up and running out of the duel room. By then, the Black-Suits had disappeared, replaced by a teacher.

'You two are late by seven minutes.'

The kid acted comically shocked, as Yumi facepalms herself.

Yumi sat in class, thinking of how she was lucky that the teacher let her off at a whim, because she hadn't been late before.

As the teacher left, she slid over to talk with Minato.

'Can you get the Black suits off my back?' She asked.

Minato shook his head. 'I don't have the authority to… not any- '

'Hey, Hito!' the voice of Naki called, as he walked up to Yumi and whispered 'I uh… I noticed your little stalker problem…'

Yumi nodded, backing away. 'What do you want?'

Naki stopped whispering 'I mean- I know stalking, alright? My uncle used to... a-anyway,' He continued whispering 'If you ever need to do something in private, I can do you a solid once…' He walked off, and sat back down as the teacher for the next period showed up.

The next day, Yumi asked Minato if she could speak with his boss.

'THE BOSS!?' Minato asked, the students in the classroom at break staring at him, as he flashed his glasses and replied. 'I-I don't think I can do it with all the guards around, I'm not supposed to…'

'Then what if I ask Naki for help?' Yumi says, explaining what he had told her the last day.

'He'd told me I could ask him once.' She says. 'I say we risk it now.'

Minato nodded, as he called for Naki.

Naki's friends hid from the guards as they followed Yumi home, walking up beside them to whisper a few bluffs.

'Hey, did you hear? Yumi Hito's gonna duel the principal!'

'Heck No!'

'Heck yes! It's happening tomorrow in the school field! And I hear, at lunch!'

One of the black suits alerted the others, as Naki's friends ran up a corner, once out of the Black-Suits' sight, they met up with Naki in front of a house near Yumi's

'Good job, boys,' Naki cheered, like a mob boss, as he handed out three stacks of money, each including 1000¥ to his three friends.

'Aren't your parents ri- 'said one

'Yeah, yeah, but I'm not!' Naki says, as they scattered into different directions.

The next day, Yumi and Minato gathered together in an empty classroom, sitting in chairs at a table as Minato turned on his Disk in call mode, attempting to call the boss.

'So, who's the boss?' Yumi asked.

'We don't know.' He said. 'He's always been hidden from our eyes.' He said, as his duel disk, standing on the desk started buzzing.

Yumi and Minato waited, at the machine continued to buzz

'This is the emergency hotline, so If this fails, we're screwed…' Minato whispers.

The duel disk turns on, and the blank image appears.

'…Ms. Hito… where are the organization's guards?'

Yumi shivered at the deep and threatening tone of his voice. 'I-I've wanted to talk to you.'

'The boss sighs. 'Minato… consider your access to the emergency line and your rights as a Z-seeker suspended-'

'Suspended?' Yumi asked. 'Excuse me, sir, have you taken something from Minato?

The boss sighs. 'Fine, I will talk. Yes, I have. For telling you about our organization, Minato lost his position of Z-seeker, a title given to those who find information and relay it directly to I.'

Yumi looked at Minato, who flashed his glasses nervously. 'In that case, I have a proposition for you.'

The boss asked 'What do you want?'

Yumi took a deep breath. 'What can I do, to prove to you I can be trustworthy enough to get the guards off my back, and you'll give Minato his job back.'

The man did not seem surprised when he spoke next. 'I was assuming you were going to call to ask about the guards' early release… then again, a new mission just came up…. Fine. There has been a new Duel Runner Showroom opened downtown from New Domino City. In there, there are multiple machines installed, meant to teach youths without licences Turbo Duelling… the D.R.A.G Simulated arcade games…. Our recent intel has confirmed that the Highest-Score Duellist before the date that the machines are scheduled to get updated, will receive a rare card.. Your mission is to find this card.'

Yumi thought about it, remembering her grandmother's strict scheduling-

'And as for your grandmother, we can make it so that she thinks you are still at school, helping out for an upcoming event… do you accept this mission, Yumi Hito?'

Yumi leaned back in her chair, nervous about her grandmother. She touches the card in her pocket, braving herself.

'Bring it on.'
