EPISODE 12: D.R.A.G MAYHEM! THE YOUNG TURBO DUELISTS!

'Bring it on' Yumi declares. The boss is quiet for a second

'Alright. The guard will escort you to the site after school tomorrow. Be prepared.'

The screen turned off, and Yumi relaxed, breathing slightly heavy

Minato put his hand on her shoulder, to comfort her. 'You didn't have to do that… My position is only taken away for half of the month...'

'I… I thought I could write two wrongs… So, I took the chance… No need to… apologise.' She said, calming down.

She thought of what the boss had just said, trying to piece together the scatter of terms and words he had used. 'What's a Turbo Duel?'

'A Turbo duel, in its most simple form, is a Duel taking place on a Motorcycle. The Duelists are allowed to stall attacks from monsters with their Motorcycles, or Duel Runners, lessening the impact of the attack, or taking time to look at the board and activate spells and traps… and I believe If your bike crashes you lose immediately.'

Minato explained the rules of Turbo Dueling with precision, sitting with Yumi in their classroom the next day.

'So… It's just Duel Monsters On Motorcycles?'

Minato sighed. 'To simplify in, yeah, Duel Monsters On Motorcycles…'

Yumi sighed and looked out the window. 'So we'll just wait at the entrance of the school? I don't tell my grandmother anything that night-'

'Don't worry about it.' Minato smiled. 'The Boss's influence spreads far and wide, maybe to every city!'

Yumi stayed silent, worrying.

Later that day, It was 3:30. School had just ended and Yumi and Minato were standing in front of the school, parents walking left and right, picking up their kids in cars, when a black-suited man walked up to them. Minato identified him as a Z-hunter, and he led the pair into a car.

As it drove, an audio recorded message of the Boss's voice played.

'Yumi Hito… Your mission is about to begin. I assume Minato has taught you of Turbo Duels. I have added a few challenges… Nobody of the Z-hunters knows of your mission... prepare to meet more Z-hunters… perhaps even our elite…'

Yumi shifted in her seat, worried at the news.

'Lose against one, and I will know, and the agreement will be off... Such is the price of trying to make such a deal… Good Luck.'

Yumi struck up, anger and worry filling her eyes as she breathed softly and struggled to calm down.

Minato reached over to Yumi. 'Don't worry, I'm sure none of the Elites will show. You're strong, you can make it, I know so!'

With Minato's encouragement, Yumi calmed.

'That little…' They thought, as Minato flashed his glasses.

Yumi stood in awe, in the bustling and noisy building. There were Duel Runners lined up against each other, a massive pillar in the centre of the complex, lighting up with advertisements. The people were rushing up to the second floor, faint electrical buzzing coming from it.

Minato poked her in the shoulder, waking her up from her trance. 'The room is over there, judging from the signs...' He pointed to a sliding door on the left of the arc-shaped facility.

They walked through, then down a room on the right, inside was a neon-lit room, with 10 arcade machines with Duel Runners attached to them. 7 of the Duelists there looked up at them, and Yumi struck up.

'Lose against one, and I will know, and the agreement will be off'

Yumi braved herself and sat down of the machine, a black-sleeved hand reaching out to stop her before she began.

'Wait. Do you have Speed Spells with you?' The black masked man, wearing sunglasses and a hat asked. He looked as if he was in disguise.

'Speed what?' Yumi asked, as Minato remembered.

'Crap, I forgot to tell you about Speed World!'

'What!?' Yumi shouted, then silenced herself. 'Sorry.' She quickly spouted.

Minato spoke quickly. 'Speed World is a field spell that adds counters to itself every turn and doesn't allow any spell that isn't a speed spell, which takes counters to use, to be used!'

Yumi's eyes widened. 'What- where do I get these?'

As the two panickily continued, the Masked man lifted up three card packs for Yumi.

'Here, take them.'

Yumi stands back, shaking her head.

'No, it's fine. Nobody's buying these from the counter, and I overheard some stuff about these being filled with Speed Spells… I work here, I'm giving it to you for free, and if you're a Duelist, some cards you have can be converted into speed spells by the machine.'

Minato nudged Yumi. 'Thanks sir! C'mon, take it!' He whispered the last line to Yumi.

Yumi, bravening herself up, took the card packs. 'I'll use these to my greatest extent, sir!'

The man nodded. 'If you don't mind, once you get your deck sorted out, you can duel me first.'

Yumi nodded, and began preparing her deck, as the other duellists duelled away…

Yumi booted up the machine, putting her deck in the assigned slot. The machine spoke.

'D.R.A.G SIMULATION! PRESS START!'

She pushed the start button on her bike, and a red light shone over her eyes and face, generating itself inside the machine, in the form of herself, wearing what appeared to be yellow sunglasses and a black biker vest, with the Synchro circles drawn on them in red.

'What the-'

'It's how your avatar is represented and seen in the game.' Minato said. 'Just click yes on this screen and it should lead you to the main menu.'

She was led to a menu with multiple options: DUEL SOLO, DUEL GHOST and DUEL CONNECT. The masked man told her to pick the connect option.

A black plug came out of the bottom of her Machine, and the masked man plugged it into a socket on his.

A virtual circuit loaded in the machine, the two avatars in-game, boarding their bikes.

(AUTHOR'S NOTE: TRY TO IMAGINE THE DUEL FROM THE AVATAR'S POV, INSID THE GAME.)

A countdown begins on the screen.

'3'

Yumi pushed down the pedal on her motorcycle, 5 cards loading up beside her. She looked at the monitor below the screen, where she would interact with her cards.

'2'

The masked man's avatar revved up his motorcycle, a red and white design with a arc covering the top of it.

'1'

'DUEL!'

They take off, and the masked man is in the lead. A speed counter is added to both their bikes.

'I summon TUNER MONSTER, Blacking, Decay the III wind!'

A circle, riding beside the man, appeared, a bald, featherless, Eagle appeared out of it, soaring beside him.

'I end my turn.'

Yumi draws, dragging an Icon at the side of her screen. Another speed counter is added.

'I don't have my spells anymore, so I've gotta work with this hand!

'I summon: ENDYMION, THE MAGISTUS OF MASTERY!'

Endymion appears from a circle, floating in the direction Yumi drives.

'I ACTIVATE HIS EFFECT, EQUIPPING HIM WITH ARTERMIS, THE MAGISTUS MOON MAIDEN!'

Endymion glows in a moonlike fashion, Artemis, a small girl with blonde hair and white robes, appeared behind him.

'I ADD ZOROA, THE MAGISTUS OF FLAME TO MY HAND WITH HER EFFECT AND ATTACK!'

Endymion aims his staff at the bird, shooting it with a beam of light as the masked man's bike begins to sway.

'Anonymous_User_5's life points are at 7700!' The computer spoke.

'I end my turn!'

The man draws, confident, as a speed counter is added.

'I BANISH A MONSTER FROM MY HAND TO SUMMON BLACKWING-SIMOON THE POISON WIND!'

A man with bird Wings, surrounded by metal chains and a steel mask, appeared on the field.

'I summon TUNER MONSTER, BLAKWING-AUSTER OF THE SOUTH WIND!'

The small yellow bird appeared, soaring fast.

'Now, I'll TUNE THEM TOGETHER!'

The tiny bird turned into synchro circles, surrounding the bird-man.

'CLUSTERING FEATHERS CALL UPON A GREATER POWER!'

'The chained man turned into stars, the stars turning into a beam of light.

'SYNCHRO SUMMON! APPEAR, BLACKWING FULL ARMOR MASTER!'

The size of Zoroa, a black winged bird-man, in dark Armor with a cannon for an arm and a sword in another emerged from the glowing light, as it faded.

'Now, I attack your magician!'

The man hovered above Endymion, aiming his cannon arm at the magician before shooting him down.

Yumi's bike shifted and swivelled, slowing down as she fell further behind.

'Anonymous_User_9's life points are at 6300!'

Yumi breathed heavily, trying to calm herself down as she drew.

'I activate Speed Spell: ANGEL BATON!'

The card flips face up from the ground, following Yumi's bike.

I can draw twice, and send a card in my hand to the graveyard!

She takes the draw, sending a card to the graveyard.

'I SUMMON TUNER MONSTER: ZOROA THE MAGISTUS OF FLAME!'

The flaming magician appeared again, as Yumi and the Masked Man drifted around a corner.

'I use his effect to equip AIWASS, THE MAGISTUS SPELL SPIRIT TO HIM, ALLOWING ME TO SUMMON CROWLEY, THE MAGISTUS OF GRIMORES FROM MY HAND!'

The sentient staff appeared in Zoroa's hands, as Crowley emerged from a glowing circle.

'NOW, I TUNE THEM TOGETHER!'

Zoroa turns into synchro circles, enveloping Crowley, as Yumi begins a new summoning chant.

'SHINING STARS, CREATE A PATH THAT BURNS THROUGHT HE DEEPEST OF DARKNESS! LET'S LIGHT 'M' UP!'

A beam of light appears from where Crowley once was, the Massive Behemoth appearing as well.'

'SYNCHRO SUMMON! CCOME FORTH, ZOROA, THE MAGISTUS CONFLRANGANT CALAMITY!'

The black masked one smiled under his mask at the Synchro summon.

'I EQUIP ZOROA WITH VAHRAM!' Yumi says, as the masked man Extends his hand.

'I ACTIVATE BLACKWING'S EFFECT! I CAN ADD A WEDGE TOKEN TO ZOROA!'

Zoroa flinches as he floats, a black aura emitting from him.

'What!? Wile Zoroa's equipped to a Synchro monster like Vahram, you're not supposed to be able to activate your Synchro monsters' effects!'

'Blackwing's effect reads that he's not affected by other card effects, making it immune to Zoroa's!' the masked man draws.

'NOW, I ACTIVATE BLACKWING'S EFFECT! I CAN DESTROY A MONSTER WITH A WEDGE COUNTER ON IT!'

Zoroa is enveloped by his black glow, dissipating into golden flakes.

'NOW, DIRECT ATTACK!'

The massive sword of Blackwing slams down on Yumi

However, before the machine can even talk, Yumi loses control.

Her bike steers out of control, crashing wall to wall

Before her avatar falls off and the computer declares:

'ANONYMOUS_USER_9 HAS LOST!'
