Chapter 6
Idunn's skin was irresistible to touch. She tasted more heavenly than anything Loki had ever savored before.
She tangled her fingers in his hair and he let out a soft moan. The warmth he had felt each time he touched her, now enveloped him like a cloud and he had no desire to lose it again.
With a flick of his fingers and a green shimmer, they were moved to the bedroom and they were swept away in an incandescent passion that neither of them could or wanted to control.
Breathless and sweaty they lay in each other's arms, gazing at each other.
"Go to sleep," he breathed. "I'm not going anywhere."
She didn't respond but he could feel her breathing hike.
"I thought you trusted me," he said with a sneaky smile.
"That's funny," she smiled lazily, "I thought I did too."
Loki had never felt so elated in his life, he was terrified of letting her go, in fear that the feeling would fade.
"I promise you, on my life, I won't go anywhere," he gently stroked her face, "You have me magnetized to your body."
Her eyes fluttered open and she studied him for a second.
"I didn't mean to," she whispered, frowning and he shook his head with a smile.
"No Darling, I mean that I don't want to go anywhere."
"Say that again," she said, her frown getting deeper.
"Darling?" she closed her eyes and smiled.
"Darling," she repeated and fell asleep.
Loki woke with the morning light shining into the room, he didn't remember falling asleep, but he felt well-rested. He moved an arm and sensed some stiffness from their vigorous fight from the previous night.
Idunn was still fast asleep and he leaned closer, flexing his fingers and placing them on her cheek. She stirred but didn't wake. He closed his eyes and tried to read her mind. Memories of their night flashed through his mind and body as he saw it through her eyes. He dug a little deeper and tried to find older memories. He could see her life on the planet and attempts to leave. He saw her first memory, waking in Adam's bed, and felt the disgust she had felt.
Loki tried harder and saw the few memories she had gotten back; this house, in perfect detail; A mere blurry glimpse of someone waving goodbye; a female voice saying "Steve, we have to talk about this,"; A male voice saying, "What did you do?" in a strong American accent and Idunn's reply, "I don't know, dad,"; The American woman saying, "Hey, she's a goddamned miracle so maybe she can do all these things because of that, because of what we did," with a whisper of "language" from the man somewhere between.
He searched for more but came up blank so he opened his eyes and stared into her eyes, now open and watching him. He moved his hand away with a jerk and sat up, wary.
"My apologies," he said tenderly.
She sat up but didn't say anything. She pulled her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Loki noticed they were still in contact and that he still felt the warmth inside him. He wondered if it was now part of him or just because of her.
"It's like he completely pulverized them," she whispered, referring to her memories. "They're not in there somewhere, they're just completely gone."
"We'll get them back. I promise," Loki tried.
Idunn smiled and moved closer. "You know I can see your memories too when you touch me, don't you?" she said
He sighed, "I didn't know that, but it's alright, you already saw everything anyway, didn't you?"
"Lots of it yes, but not everything. There are about a thousand years of information in there," she gently tapped his skull with a finger. "I can't see it all."
"How old are you?" Loki wondered and she stared at him incredulously.
"Right," he scoffed and took her face in his hands studying her as if her age was written down somewhere. "I'd guess you to be around twenty years old, if that much."
"Wow, you are so much older than me," she joked.
"And I think you're from Midgard," he touched her face and mentally showed her a memory from Earth. "America to be exact," he added, showing her the Avengers towering over him in Stark Tower.
"Who are they?" she asked looking through the faces from his memory.
"They call themselves the Avengers," Loki mocked. "from the right, that's Tony Stark; The Hulk beast; Captain America; then it's Barton, with the bow and arrow; then my brother, Thor and Agent Romanov. You remind me of them."
"Why?" Idunn mused.
"They're honorable and pure of heart with only good intentions," he said with a bit of annoyance.
"Why doesn't it sound like a good thing?" she teased.
"It's self-righteous and annoying," he grunted.
"I'm self-righteous and annoying?" she coaxed out of him and he sighed.
"Yes," he smiled, teasing her.
"Oh really?" she leaned in and kissed him.
"Very much," he said between kisses and pulled her even closer.
A distant explosion shocked them both and Idunn jumped out of bed, pulling the sheet around her with a glimmer of magic, turning it into an impressive outfit. Loki twirled his fingers and his armor flickered on.
"No armor?" he asked her.
"What for?" she asked and another flair went up in the distance.
"You don't sense the danger in the sound of explosions?"
"No," she frowned.
And with a third boom, they raced out to the porch to see what was going on. On the nearest side of the lake, a handful op people stood ready with strange weapons.
"What are they doing?" Loki frowned at the sight of them.
"Who are they?" Idunn asked.
"Arent they stuck here now?" Loki wondered.
Idunn started walking to the edge of the dock and then stepped out onto the water.
"Wait," Loki called after her, "I can't walk on water."
She looked down at her feet and then back at him, "Yes you can." She said simply.
When he hesitated, she added, "It's not normal water."
And with a mumble, he stepped onto the water, finding it surprisingly stable.
He caught up to her and they marched towards the random newcomers on the edge of the water.
"We're going to talk about this later," he whispered, "I thought it was dangerous."
"It is dangerous without me." She stated and eyed him.
The armored troop saw them approach and stopped their actions, waiting for something. Idunn stopped within hearing distance and they stared at each other for a while.
One of the armored troops stepped forward and spoke: "On behalf of the Time Variance Authority, I hereby arrest you for crimes against the Sacred Timeline."
Loki and Idunn glanced at each other and then stared at the woman before them.
"The what now?" Idunn asked.
"Look what we got here," the agent held up a gadget and scanned Idunn. "We thought we lost you."
Before Idunn could reply, the agent turned to another and grinned, "Looks like I'm getting a promotion."
"Do I know you?" Idunn asked.
"No, but I know you," then she scanned Loki and smiled again, talking to her teammates again, "and a Loki Variant, no wonder there was a massive Nexus event here. What a combo!"
"Who the hell are you?" Loki barked.
"Hands up, Variant, You're both coming with us."
"Come and get us," Idunn stated and stayed fixed on the spot.
The agent sighed and stepped into the water, finding herself deeper than expected. Loki grinned and glanced smugly at Idunn.
"You still think I need armor?" Idunn asked Loki with a similarly superior smile on her face.
