A smart guy isn't he?
He's perfect for the support course.
There was a palpable feeling of excitement and apprehension among the youths all across Japan. The Entrance Exam for the Hero Course in UA was just one day away. But before that, exams for the General Education and Department Management came first, that was yesterday. Now is the day for the Entrance Exam for the Support Course.
A long time ago, when Quirks started appearing more frequently in society, the comic book heroes that everyone once thought impossible then became a possibility in the real world, and in time they were accepted and the government allowed these brave individuals to do as they pleased.
But this decision presented a problem, becoming a hero isn't easy and when it became clear that becoming one was now possible, everyone wanted to be a part of it.
Especially the young and impressionable children.
This caused a massive increase in vigilante activity, people with more bravery than common sense throwing themselves into danger, thinking of themselves as glorified badasses, despite not having the skills, knowledge, or experience needed to fight. So what was the government's solution?
By looking at comic books and copying their solutions, namely with the laws and education.
For some reason, that was genuinely seen as a smart idea back then.
People were dumb back in the day.
Laws were put into place, banning the use of Quirks in a public setting unless it was for self-defense. This was implemented for two reasons, to dissuade people from using their powers recklessly that might cause harm to others, and to prevent any further attempts at vigilantism.
Then for those that truly wanted to do good, those that were willing to risk their lives for the sake of helping others, then Hero Licences were invented. Turning becoming a hero from a fantasy into a full paying job, complete with insurance, skilled attorneys, access to high-end modern facilities, equipment called Support Items, and much more. The ones that could obtain one of these weren't just heroes, they were Pro Heroes.
And one of the prerequisites of becoming a Pro Hero was to attend a Hero Academy, schools specifically made to train young men and women into capable heroes. Building up their skills, knowledge, and combat capabilities to be prepared for any danger that comes into society.
In the span of over a hundred years, thousands of these Hero Academies were implemented all across the globe, in every continent and country.
But in Japan, UA High School is special, in just a few decades after its creation, it climbed to one of the top Hero Schools, not just in the country, but the entire world. It taught all four curriculums that were now standard in society; Hero Course, Support Course, Department Management, and General Education, and it was exceptionally good in teaching all four.
It was the dream of many, many children to have the honor to attend this world-famous school to pursue their dreams. Because even if someone didn't enter UA with the intention of being a hero, being able to have in one's resume that they attended UA was already a massive boon for their future interviews.
So UA is one of the greatest schools in the world to attend for any child looking to take the next step to adulthood.
But none of that interests Midoriya, not anymore anyway.
'Feels weird to be here now. To me, this is the place where everything first went to shit.' Midoriya thought to himself. 'My choice to become a villain, the first time that All Might failed to save someone, and the deaths of nearly an entire class of hero students. It all started here.'
Perhaps once upon a time, it was his greatest dream as well to attend this school and become a hero. To smile at the masses, to quell their fears and give them hope, to be the next Symbol of Peace.
'And now here I am, the person who kick-started the fall of Hero Society, back to where it all began to fix everything. It's like one big cosmic joke, and I'm the only one alive who gets it.' He mentally chuckled.
But things are different now. He was different now. The last time he saw UA, he was planning to destroy it. It was being used by the last heroes in Japan as a base for the heroes to recuperate, and for the civilians to use as a safe house.
It didn't end well for them, and the reason for that was mostly Midoriya's doing.
But now, he's not planning on destroying anything here (unless he needs to), and he's not planning on killing anyone (unless he wants to). Now, he's just planning on fitting in and becoming something more in the eyes of society.
This is where he starts his journey of saving the world, without having to become a hero.
He was currently sitting in a large room filled with recent junior high graduates with desks in front of them. It was the room where they will take the written portion of the exam. The room was spacious and well lit, there were 100 desks that were perfectly equidistant from each other so that all examinees could take the exam at the same time. This was very few compared to other schools but that was to be expected. The Support Course isn't the most famous course in UA and UA is very strict in its conditions for entering after all, and even then, only a few dozen students actually get accepted every year.
The hero Present Mic's speech and explanation on how the exams will go was kind of lackluster in Midoriya's opinion, but it got the point across. It was pretty simple and standard, one written test, and one practical test, with the practical being judged on a point system, a lot like the Hero Course's Exam.
The main difference is that in the practical, the examinees will be asked to build something from scratch with only the items in the Test Workspace.
He looked around the room at the other examinees, he knows all of them by name already since he had already secretly hacked the UA database and read through all the names of the students, but he also knows that most of them will barely make an impact in the future.
There was no way to sugarcoat it, these people were just dead weight in the future. All their inventions, knowledge, and ideas meant nothing to Shigaraki and All for One's overwhelming power. Their technology simply could not keep up with the rapidly growing number of threats and dangerous Quirks.
Well… all except one.
He looks at the person in question, she was a girl sitting two rows in front of him, practically vibrating in her seat in impatience. He spots her hands briefly twitch every now and again, imagining she's already in the process of inventing her next big "baby". She was a relatively short girl with a mature build, she has shoulder-length pink hair that is styled as dreadlocks that are side-swiped to her right. But the most notable thing about her was her eyes, they were colored green-yellow with a notable cross in the middle. Her eyes' design was not cosmetic, they are a part of her Quirk, a Quirk that allows her vision to zoom in on distant or small objects.
Her name is Mei Hatsume, and her Quirk's name is Zoom.
'Jeez, the people who came up with that Quirk name must've been high fiving themselves for their creativity. Seriously, whatever happened to the creative names like "One for All" or "All for One"?'
But back to the girl, she was someone that, for a brief moment, became Midoriya's unofficial nemesis in the future. They never physically fought each other, but instead, they raced with their inventions, trying to give their sides a technological advantage quicker than the other. Midoriya held some respect for her intellect and sheer work ethic. She could make more inventions in one day than even he could.
Of course, that all changed with the creation of the nanites. His vast increase in mental speed and processing dwarfed hers and she was soundly defeated.
Midoriya asked the League of Villains to spare her when they had the chance, he told them that she could be a massive boon for their side if they played their cards right.
They promptly ignored him and killed her anyway.
In a sense, she was actually the big red flag that warned him of their future betrayal and the inevitable choice of killing him in fear of him becoming too smart.
So, in a way, he sees her as a worthy adversary and potential ally. Well, not an adversary anymore, she's no threat to him now, but at this moment in time, she is young and impressionable. He could turn her into a close ally and possible friend without having to inject his nanites into her. He wanted to nurture her mind the same way he nurtured his.
The tests were handed out, it was a small paper notebook filled with 100 questions, they were given 2 hours to answer them all. The answers are mostly about mathematics and engineering, so they were also given extra pieces of paper for their calculations.
Of course, Midoriya could complete it in less than 5 minutes if he wanted, and even less than that if he does it at super speed.
But he wasn't supposed to have a Quirk, so he has to answer them quickly but normally.
He picks up his pen to start and-
'You guys ever think about having boobs?' Lady Nagant's voice asks out.
Midoriya paused, his supremely powerful brain halting in its tracks.
"What?" Both Midoriyas ask.
'I'm just asking, what do you guys think? Would you guys want a pair or not?'
Midoriya, for all his intelligence, had no idea how to answer that. So he shook his head and started to answer the test, and hopefully ignore the conversation.
Unfortunately, she seems to have thought about this a lot.
Like a "lot" lot.
Like the incorrect amount of times.
'I'm telling you guys, these things are awesome.' Lady Nagant insisted.
'Kaina I… really don't want to talk about this right now… or ever.' The Older Midoriya groaned.
Apparently, now that Kaina has a moment to herself, the "Midoriya" part of her psyche has developed an… interest in their new female body.
And it's making both Midoriyas VERY uncomfortable.
'Come oooon Izuku 1 and 2, just transfer to a female body for just one day! Then you'll understand.'
She's also decided to put numbers on their names now, to differentiate between them when she's speaking with them. Izuku 1 being the older one, and Izuku 2 being the younger one.
'Can you guys just talk about this between the two of you? I'm kinda in the middle of something…' Izuku 2 attempted to persuade.
But Izuku 1 immediately killed that attempt, 'Hell no! If I gotta suffer hearing her talk about boobs, then so do you! You're already lucky enough that you can't see her fondling herself here!'
'You know you like it.'
'Fuck off!'
'Don't you have more heroes to kill Kaina?' Izuku 2 mentally asked.
'Nah, four is more than enough to get people talking for now, besides we just needed to pique the interest of some people and plant the seeds for some major chaos. I didn't have to kill that many heroes, I'll do more some other time.' She answered.
Kaina was currently in the base with Izuku 1, they had free time at the moment so they were just waiting around in their makeshift house. Izuku 1 in super speed, stole a bunch of household items to make their base feel more comfortable, including a TV, couch, beds, a fridge, and even air conditioning.
Izuku 1 was busying himself by finding ways to improve the costume he brought from the future, while Kaina was just sitting on the couch (despite her being smart enough to actually help), wearing nothing but a sports bra and shorts.
Suddenly though, out of the blue she started to… grope herself for some reason. She looked at her own breasts with fascination and continued to touch them at her leisure.
Izuku 1 wouldn't admit it, but he stared at her dumbfoundedly for about a minute before shaking his head and going back to his work.
He didn't want to know what was going on in her head. But suddenly she just popped the dreaded question out of nowhere.
'Guys, seriously, I have a test to do.'
'Izuku 2, we all know that we could pass that test with our eyes closed.' The Older Midoriya countered.
'And it's just a simple question!' Kaina added in.
He forcibly cuts off their connection to him and promptly ignores the constant mental knocks in his head to connect back.
Turns out, that combining two psyches that have spent years in isolation each is not a good idea.
Who knew?

This may not come as a surprise to those who knew her, but Mei Hatsume LOVED inventing.
While other kids were cheering on the heroes that walked around in public, Hatsume instead was laser-focused on their Support Items. How were they made? What does it do? What's it made of? And how does it work?
Some people called her interests an "obsession", but what do those people know? They were too busy drooling over skimpy skin-tight costumes, while she was paying attention to suits of armor, jetpacks, and gadgets that actually HELP the heroes do their job.
Ever since she knew what those babies were, she was hooked. She knew exactly what she wanted to do. She wanted to make her own babies that help heroes, to grow up with them and work with them. She studied endlessly, to the point where she would ignore basic hygiene like sleep or baths. She just worked, worked, took care of basic human needs such as eating, and worked some more.
This lifestyle has turned her into a hyperactive and unapologetic person, one that doesn't really understand the concept of "awkwardness" and "personal space", because she never had the time to personally connect with anyone else other than her parents. This doesn't mean that she was mean or rude (though from an outside perspective she might come off as such), and she wouldn't mind having friends, but most people get turned away by her very forward personality.
But that never keeps her down, babies wait for no one! She's trying out for UA now, and she needs to show everyone that her babies can make the cut!
'Finally! I thought we'd never get to making babies!'
The written part of the exam was finally done and the students were taken to another room, and this one was MUCH bigger than the last one. It was filled with work tables and tools, scrap and broken machines, and they were all evenly spaced out. Plus, there was a stage with a podium on it at the front of the room and a timer set above it. It has the numbers "3:00:00" on it, indicating that this part of the exam will have three hours.
There were names on each work desk that tells them which desk was theirs. After everyone took their place, the Pro Hero Power Loader stepped up to the podium to explain how this part of the exam worked.
"Hello everyone, now I know you're all eager to start-"
Not as eager as her apparently!
"- so I'm gonna keep this short. All you have to do is invent the most useful items you can make with the materials and tools left around you. There are no limits on how many you make, or on what they can do. You have 3 hours to work with and you'll be judged based on your inventions' creativity and usefulness."
Wait.
Invent as many babies as they can?
This is what she lived for! This is basically her dream! She knew that applying for UA was a good idea!
She was now practically jumping in place in excitement, some people around her nervously glancing over as if she would explode, but she ignored all of them.
"And remember, working fast is important, but working safely comes first. Now with that being said, let your ideas fly people because your timer starts…"
This was it. This was her time to shine.
This was how she started her story of becoming one of the world's greatest Inventors.
"... now!"
She moved faster than almost everyone in the room, the second the timer started counting down, she already had a tool in her hand and went to work. Others stared at her for a moment, shocked at her speed, before moving themselves.
Everything around her fell away, the exam, the sounds of everyone else inventing, any and all distractions were tuned out. She wasn't really paying attention to how much time was left, but that didn't really matter, she would've completed more than one invention by the time the test was done.
While she was working with almost insane fervor (But still carefully by her standards as to make sure that nothing would explode, while she would be just fine and she can measure how good the baby was based on the explosion, it probably wouldn't be a good way to get on UA's good side.), others around her were working more calmly, but still urgently. Some are working on things that they had pre-planned, while others were winging it on the fly, and a certain green-haired inventor was working on something that he KNEW would not only get him accepted but get top marks and gain her attention as well.
'Attach a circuit board here, weld a little over there.'
She threw some scrap behind her.
'Don't need that, ooohhh I could use this. Maybe use it for some kind of staff? Or a grenade? Boots? Helmet? Gloves?'
So many possibilities, so little time.

Higari Maijima had been teaching in the Support Course for a long time now.
Maijima is a short and skinny man, he has spiky ginger hair, reaching just past his shoulders, and dull blue eyes, as well as a notably large mouth. His hands appear to be the largest part of his body, disproportionate to his rather small frame, and, due to his Quirk; Iron Claws, he has an orange L-shaped piece at the end of each finger. His hero name is; Power Loader.
He didn't really start to be a hero for the sake of teaching young teens how to build Support Items, in fact, he actually learned how to build Support Items just for himself at first. His Quirk was pretty plain on its own, and his short stature didn't really inspire confidence in people that he could save them or beat up villains. But he didn't give up, if he couldn't rely on his size or Quirk to become a hero, then he'd use the one thing that he has left, his brain. Instead of relying on his own strength, he built a large robot that he could control that enhanced his Quirk's effectiveness and his own combat capabilities.
Turns out, he had a natural talent for building things, and he used this talent to become a hero despite almost everyone around him telling him that it was impossible. He persevered, and now he was the Pro Hero he'd always dreamed of becoming. He realized that a Quirk was only a tool, nothing more and nothing less, and tools can be made. Whether to help others, or strengthen them, he knew that Support Items in their society can make a huge difference in the field, and he wanted others to be aware of this as well.
This was why he decided to teach in UA on how to build, to help them grow and become something more, maybe even teach some to become heroes through the power of technology as he did, and even if they were just fine with not becoming heroes, that was OK too, he could teach them how to actually help the heroes with gadgets without putting themselves in danger. He may not be on the field as often as he used to, but he knew that what he was doing here was helping out there, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Unfortunately, right now he's seriously starting to consider quitting.
"- and this one one is a gun that shoots out magnets that stick to opponents, then magnetizes the metals around them, perfect for slowing down villains! And this one is a helmet to help those with Quirks like mine, they help to increase the distance on how far someone can see while eliminating the drawbacks! and this one-"
Yeah, he's definitely questioning his career choice now.
When the timer eventually reached zero, he noticed a student that just ignored the buzzer that indicated that time was up. When he went towards her, he suddenly realized that she had a LOT of inventions done in those three hours. They made a pile just behind her as she continued to fiddle with a pair of boots that she was building. He cleared his throat to gain her attention, and when she looked at him, he just pointed to the timer above the stage that now read "0:00:00".
She seemed almost disappointed that the time was over, but threw in the boots to the pile anyway. The pile that he now had to judge piece by piece.
Great. Just great.
As each student was called individually, they showed their inventions, how they worked, and the materials used.
Some were good, others were mediocre.
Some created one, while others created two or three. There were even twins that worked together and invented two interlocking surveillance drones that when combined, turned into an aerial combat drone. He really liked that one.
But then he got to her, Mei Hatsume according to the list he was holding. He really shouldn't have, but he asked her what she built anyway.
That was 20 minutes ago, and she wasn't even halfway down the pile. The other examinees that were scored already left, while the ones that haven't are now impatiently watching her, waiting for her to just be done with it.
"-and this one-"
"Ok ok ok ok, stop." He cut her off before she could go on another tangent.
"Look, don't worry about your score, I already had it in mind after the 8th one you showed me, you can go now." He said to her.
But she refused, "Leave? Why would I leave? I still have many more babies to see here! I want to see everyone else's work!"
Well… at least she was passionate.
Though annoyed at her eccentricity, he was still very impressed. It was almost impossible to have invented this much in such a short amount of time, even for him. She just might pass through sheer quantity alone.
Maijima had seen a lot of students come and go in his years teaching at UA, but he could tell, despite knowing that she is going to cause him a ton of headaches along the line, and probably cause a bunch of accidents because of how fast she actually builds, she was someone special. She was going to take the Support Industry by storm.
And she wasn't the only one.
As he continued to work his way down the list, he came across a green-haired boy, Izuku Midoriya, who was Quirkless.
'Poor kid, can't even imagine how hard it must've been for him growing up.'
Maijima wasn't blind to the problems that Quirkless people go through in their society, it was clear they had it rough. Unemployment rates, broken dreams, even suicides, he wished he could just fix all of that and yell at everybody that they were still people too. Unfortunately, he has absolutely no voice among them, and the truth was he knew that no one short of All Might has the publicity necessary to change anyone's mind about them.
Though judging by the smile on his face, the kid seems to be doing well in life, which was good, at least the kid knew what he wanted to do with his future.
"Alright then Midoriya, explain to me what you made."
Quirkless or not, he still had to judge the kid fairly.
"Yes!" The kid exclaimed, then he picked up his creation from the work desk.
It was a small rectangular device, no bigger than a piece of brick. The front had a large camera lens attached to it, he recognized it as one of the eyes from the remains of the robots lying around. Below the camera on the front of the device was a speaker that takes up about ¼ of the space below. The back of the device had a small panel that seemed to open up if needed, probably for the batteries or wiring. The top of it had a few antennas pointing in random directions. Lastly, there was a button at the side of it.
Midoriya presented the box to Maijima, who was studying the object, "This is the Artificial Support Intelligence Adviser! Or ASIA for short."
"I… see."
If Maijima was being honest, he had no idea what it was. Was it some kind of transponder? A signal beacon? A sound weapon of some kind? By design only, Maijima couldn't tell, but going by the name, he assumes it's some kind of device that spreads knowledge or captures it. Maybe it was a surveillance device?
"Ok then, well, show me what it does." Maijima might as well see what it actually was.
"Right! Sorry in advance if she gets a bit shy sir."
That was… an odd choice of words.
'Shy? What does he mean by that?'
Midoriya presses the button at the side of it and it starts to power up. The device shakes for a few moments and then goes still as they stare at the device with bated breaths.
Suddenly, the front camera opened up, its lens looking around, and immediately locked on Midoriya when it saw him, "Greetings Father." He hears a robotic woman's voice through the speakers.
…
…
…
Silence.
The whole room was filled with nothing but silence for a few seconds.
"What?"
"Hello ASIA!" Midoriya completely ignored the atmosphere, "Introduce yourself."
"Hello everyone, my name is ASIA," The robotic voice says, "it is an abbreviation for "Artificial Support Intelligence Adviser", according to my coding, I am an AI whose purpose is to help my father, Izuku Midoriya, as an assistant of sorts for all of his future projects. I am to evolve and adapt to solve any problem that he needs me to overcome."
Midoriya put ASIA back on the table and addressed him again. "When thinking about what I should make, I decided to come up with something that doesn't just limit itself to being used for one purpose. ASIA may be simplistic now, but I'm planning on allowing her to control machines, check for information on the internet, and even act as an antivirus! I wanted her to be more lifelike but I didn't have the time. I did my best though, watch." He looks at the camera to talk to ASIA. "ASIA tell a joke."
"Very well. Why did the Hero cross the road?"
"I don't know ASIA, why?"
"Because someone needed help on the other side."
"..."
"..."
Midoriya bashfully scratched the back of his head. "Hehe, still a work in progress."
"Apologies, was the joke unsatisfactory?" ASIA asked.
"No ASIA, you did fine! You're still learning." Midoriya reassured.
"Thank you, father."
It was only the delayed shouts of shock of the other students watching that broke Maijima out of his stupor, and when he broke out of it, he still could barely believe what he was seeing.
"Wait, Midoriya did you just… Is that an AI? Did you just create an AI? Here? In the Entrance Exam? For UA?" Maijima voiced his shock, and for good reason.
This was way out of his expectations for today. He was not expecting to witness today the birth of a freaking AI!
Midoriya nods as if what he just created was no big deal, "Yep, she's not very smart yet, she can only answer basic questions and follow simple verbal commands. She's not connected to the internet yet, so she only knows everything I programmed into her and learns from seeing and hearing us. But with enough time, I'm sure I can program her to be way smarter and versatile in the future!"
"Yes, that is my purpose, after all, I cannot wait to become smarter and help father. I am approximately 100% excited." ASIA said in a flat tone despite the context of her words.
Maijima just stares right at his future student, (Because OF COURSE, he's going to get accepted here) but then he hears someone shout in joy.
"OH! MY! GOD! THAT IS THE MOST AMAZING BABY I HAVE EVER SEEN!"
Despite the fact that the shout was filled with happiness, Maijima just felt an overwhelming feeling of dread, like the world was coming to an end, a feeling he had only felt when he heard one of Nezu's crazy-ass laughs.
He slowly turned towards the one who screamed, and there she was.
Mei Hatsume, staring at ASIA with stars in her eyes and a mad grin on her face.
Power Loader had been a hero for many years now. He had been on the brink of death more times than he can count. He had been afraid before, but he learned to cope.
But now?
With these two impossibilities in the same place?
Higari Maijima had never been so terrified.
ASIA - the ultimate helper (that doesn't complain or ask about boobs… yet).
