Chapter 8
Loki felt extremely worn-out as he was hauled along a dull brownish hallway. He couldn't see the agent who had carried Idunn away and fought against his guards to try and find her. He yelled profanities and threats at them and asked many questions but they simply ignored him.
He found that his magic wasn't working either, and feared what this could mean for them.
He was still dripping wet from the lake as they marched him into a small cold stone room and left him behind closed doors. He called out to anyone to just acknowledge him but he was all alone. Water started running from a shower in the middle of the room. He walked closer and rinsed the dark thick liquid off himself. He removed his clothes and dried himself with towels that were laid out for him, and he dressed in the jumpsuit that made him cringe.
He leaned against the wall, resting for a moment, searching inside himself for that warm feeling he had while with Idunn. It was there, but barely. Loki wondered where they had taken her and if they were going to harm them. The thought of prison felt horrible but he just wanted to make sure she was okay.
He didn't know how long he waited but eventually, he slipped down the wall and sat on the floor, and kept going through the whole interaction with the agents.
They had called Idunn, Infinity. Whoever they were, they knew her well enough to have a nickname for her. They had called Loki, Variant, and he wondered what they had been talking about. Them existing was a crime.
Before he drifted off, a door opened and he jumped up, ready to fight anyone entering. No one came in and eventually, he walked closer to inspect. On the other side of the door, was a large room with a table in the middle and a tv on the wall. But no one was inside. He walked in and the doors behind him closed again, locking him in the new space.
He slowly walked around the room, inspecting the area.
A second door opened and a blond man with a mustache walked in carrying a file.
Loki stood on the far side of the room, watching him enter, curious about everything.
"Hello there," the man greeted him with a friendly smile. "My name is Mobius, I'll be your transition advisor."
"My what?" Loki nearly growled.
"Transition Advisor. I'll be guiding you through the information so that your unavoidable end, doesn't come as a shock."
"Unavoidable end?" Loki tested.
"You are a variant, a copy of the original who does not add to the sacred timeline, therefore you will be terminated."
"I am not a copy! I am the only Loki!" he took a few steps closer but with the push of a button by Mobius, Loki ended up in the same spot he started.
"It's complicated. I can explain but you have to stay calm," Mobius stated and sat down at the table.
"Where's Idunn?" Loki asked instead.
"Who?" Mobius opened the file and scanned through the contents, placing a disk into a small box on the table and the tv flickered on.
"The young woman who came in with me," Loki walked closer slowly.
"What did you call her?" Mobius queried as he searched for info on his little gadget.
"Idunn," Loki repeated, "She has no memories, so I named her after the goddess of youth. Where is she?" he growled at the end.
"Relax, Loki, she's in a room just like this, talking to an adviser just like you," Mobius said as he pushed a few buttons and turned dials, sending a visual to the huge TV screen. Loki looked up at the screen and saw Idunn sitting on a small step on the floor with her head between her knees.
"Okay, not exactly like this," Mobius extended, "and she's still alone."
"Is she hurt?" Loki walked closer to the screen.
"I doubt that. She has healing abilities, doesn't she?" Mobius looked between the image on the screen and Loki's reaction.
"There's no magic here," Loki stated.
"Right, right," Mobius nodded. "I don't think she's hurt, she's probably just recovering from the void cloud. With the amount of power she was using, it might have been quite a blow to lose it all." Mobius read through some information he saw on his gadget.
"She lost it all? We lost our powers?" Loki gained on Mobius slowly, who pushed a button again, moving Loki back to the screen.
"You didn't lose it, it's just suppressed, I guess. Not that it matters, you won't be able to use them again." Mobius changed the image on the screen to a generic TVA background. "Now let me explain to you what's going to happen to you."
"What is her name?" Loki finally asked, interrupting Mobius. "Her real name?"
"You really ought to be focusing on yourself and your own demise. You can't do anything for her and she can't do anything for you," Loki eyed Mobius, considering things.
"What's her name?" He repeated.
Mobius sighed and checked the gadget, "Her name is Yelena, Yelena Rodgers from Timber Island, Canada, Earth."
