Technology and its advancements have been lackluster for over a hundred years. Midoriya aims to change that, but society first needs an incentive to agree with him.
Time: 3:47 PM
Altitude: 8,098 Feet
Coordinates: 34°27'40.8"N 132°25'05.7"E
Thousands of feet in the air, far above the eyes of the people of Japan, 5 flying robots are traveling at very high speeds. The jet boosters on their feet leave behind white trails. They were positioned in a half triangle formation, if someone were to look up, they could be mistaken for jets that are putting on an air show.
But the show these creations are about to put on is not meant for the public, they're for the inventor.
Their scanners were currently linked with each other to monitor their location, direction, and relative speed. The lead one was looking ahead to watch out for any unforeseen obstruction crossing their flight path, the two on the sides were paying attention all around them to calculate their current position, and the last two middle ones were looking directly below them to see which city they are currently flying above.
Suddenly, they receive a signal inside their CPU and they stop flying forward, instead, they now begin to hover in place as they await another order. A few seconds pass and they receive another signal.
"LOCATING TARGETS"
Their interfaces put various crosshairs on certain buildings and landmarks in the city underneath them.
The City of Hiroshima.
"LOCKED ON"
Then, in unison, they slowly start to hover down. Lowering down until they were around 50 feet above the buildings. The sound of their jets attracted the attention of the people below them. They were understandably confused and intrigued at the sight of robots just hovering in the air. They've never seen anything like them.
"What the heck are those?"
"Are they drones or something?"
"Mommy look! Flying action figures!"
"Honey, those aren't action figures."
"Maybe someone's testing them?"
"But why would they do that here?"
As the people questioned what the droids were and what they were doing, the area between their shoulder sockets and neck opened up, and a pair of small missile launchers rose and pointed at the buildings around them. Those with good eyesight saw what happened, and they could only say;
"Oh shit."
Missiles fired off the machines' shoulders, flying towards the buildings around them. Loud explosions erupted on impact as several missiles exploded stronger than that of C4. Parts of the buildings were immediately incinerated, broken glass and debris started falling toward the people below.
The bystander's reactions were instant, screams of panic and fear rang out into the streets, and calls for heroes spread among the populace as they ran away for their lives.
The 5 droids split up, two pairs breaking off into different directions, one pair East and another West, and one was left behind in the middle of the destruction.
The lone one dropped to the ground, looked at all the fleeing people, and raised its arms, the blasters on its wrists powering up with a hum.
Then it started blasting.
Left and right, people were being struck by yellow energy beams, knocking them away, causing major injuries, and even hitting their arms and legs, rendering them useless. Blood was being spilled on the streets and screams of pain were echoing out.
It was a full-on villain attack.
And like clockwork, the cavalry arrived.
From behind it, four strong impacts were delivered onto the droid's turned back, two were at its head and the others at the lower back. No damage was sustained but it got its attention. It whirled around to shoot at the attacker, it was a Pro Hero.
A quick scan from its onboard processor and the hero's identity was revealed.
Pro Hero: Fourth Kind
Quirk: Quad Arms; his Quirk gives him four arms with increased strength.
Threat Level: Minimal
As soon as the droid turned around Fourth Kind jumped back, it fires at him and he crosses all four of his arms to block. The droid started blasting at him rapidly and he starts getting pushed back with all the blasts hitting him, though he hasn't been sustaining that much damage yet. He braces himself and slowly starts walking towards it, tanking all the blasts.
'Damn! It barely even flinched when I hit it. But at least it stopped shooting at the civilians.'
Seeing that its method was not working, it stopped firing. It crossed its arms in front of its head for a moment and then threw them out sideways.
*Shing*
Blades came out of its wrist, they were dual-edged swords that extended outward up to two feet in length, it then went into a simple sword fighting stance, body low, one blade in front and the other prepared to strike.
'Of course, it has swords, why wouldn't it?' He thought to himself sarcastically. "So, you want to do this up close and personal huh?" He asked it with a slightly pained grin, he didn't receive an answer but it did turn its head to look behind him. When he heard loud voices helping others evacuate and footsteps going toward him, he knew what was happening. His backup had arrived.
Soon enough, other heroes take up Quirks as they stand with him.
"Fourth Kind," A hero that stood next to him called out. "Who or what is this thing?"
He glared at it, noticing that it was just staring at them, not even minuscule movements in its stance and only a small constant hum coming from it. He could already tell that this thing is only moving on its own. But how? Who could've created such an advanced piece of machinery? He knew that UA had some impressive robots for their exams and training, but none of those had the durability this thing had, not even the giant Zero-Pointers.
"I have no idea, there were others but they went in different directions and I can't leave this one alone, hopefully, she can take care of them… But one thing I do know is that it's only a machine, it's not alive so don't hold back, there's nothing inside it to kill."
The heroes around him nodded and readied their Quirks, fully intending to use them to their fullest.
"Right!" A hero called out from behind him. "Then let's break this tin can!"
The droid scanned them all for their Identities, Skills, and Quirks.
The number of hostiles: 16
Threat Level: Moderate
"Watch out! I think it's about to attack!"
Its eyes glow brighter, a humming sound emanates as it pushes its energy source for more power. Various crevices on its body start to glow as its power increases. The blades on its wrist start emanating electricity and the edges were producing steam.
"Get ready!"
And with a loud boom, it jets forward towards the heroes, ready to fight till it breaks.
The pair that went East were attacking a nearby office building. On the way, any hero that tried to reach them or pull them out of the air was either shot down and/or blown up.
The people inside were already being evacuated and the guards were already firing their guns at the droids, but their bullets couldn't even damage their shells. They were currently on the 8th floor of the building, shooting out from the windows at the automatons.
"Shit shit shit shit!" One guard kept swearing. "Our guns aren't working! We need a Pro Hero to help us stat!"
"Pro Hero?" Another one asked incredulously. "Did you not just see them blow away a dozen heroes with fucking rockets?! The only hero in this city that could probably take these things on alone is-!"
He was cut off when the wall with the windows suddenly blew up, knocking them away, injured but alive.
*Cough* *Cough*
One of the guards was left unconscious from the blast. The other one had the air in his lungs knocked away but he was still kicking. He looked up onto the destroyed wall and saw the two droids fly into the building through the now destroyed side, he sees his gun to his right and tries to reach for it, but-
*ZAP*
He screams at the top of his lungs in pain.
His hand was shot with a beam, and his thumb, forefinger, and middle finger were all instantly disintegrated. He grasps his right hand as hard as he could, the agony from the blast distracting him away from the two droids. He didn't notice them point their blasters directly at his head, but just before they could fire…
"Hey! Office hours are over, time to clock out!" A tough female voice yelled out.
Both droids turned back towards the voice, but the owner had already moved.
*CLANG*
A droid was sent flying right out of the building back where it came from, crashing down onto the empty street, people close by see the droid and point towards the building. The other one aimed towards the culprit but its hands were kicked away, she then followed up with a heavy hook kick directly towards its head.
*CLANG*
The other one was also sent flying out. Crashin right next to the previous one, there was no visible damage on them but the force in the kicks delivered to them were tremendous. There was only one hero in this city that could strike with that much power.
"Heh, you ain't so tough. This won't even be a decent warm-up!"
Both droids look back up and see the hero responsible for the attacks. She had long white hair, dark skin, and red eyes, she's slightly below average in height but she has a very athletic build with muscular arms and legs. She was wearing a sleeveless white leotard with dark purple trim around her shoulders and waist, a wide, yellow crescent moon design over her chest, and two thick metal plates on her midriff. She wears purple thigh-high boots to compliment her leotard, with more plating around the heel and toe areas. She also has a pair of thick white gloves on her hands with long cuffs, sporting small triangular protrusions around their edges.
The most notable things about her though were the white rabbit ears on the sides of her head and the white fluffy tail on her lower back.
The droids didn't even need to scan her to know who she was.
The Rabbit Hero: Mirko
Threat Level: Major
"Look! It's Mirko!"
"We're saved!"
People close by started cheering for the city's top hero as she looked down at the droids with a cocky sneer on her face.
Both droids start powering up to combat this new threat, their eyes grow brighter, their entire bodies heat up, and they unsheath their blades.
"Oh? You want more?" She questioned mockingly. "Well, I got plenty more where that came from, so come at me! I'll send you dumb bots to the scrap heap!"
With a mighty leap, she jumps down to kick their asses just as the droids fly up to fight her.
Meanwhile, in the east, the last two droids were intercepted while they were in the air, whatever it was, it was too fast to initially be seen and processed, they were hit from all directions rapidly so they dropped down on top of a building.
"You know…"
A flapping sound was heard descending onto the building with them.
"... I'm tired…"
The projectiles that hit them went towards the voice in red blurs.
"... I've been busy for weeks…"
They all collected behind the person outside of their peripherals.
"... And I just wanted to get home today."
Someone dropped down in front of them and they see the person spread their red-colored wings.
Wing Hero: Hawks
Threat Level: Major
He looked different than what he usually looked like, he had eyebags, his hair was slightly messier, and his costume looked a little rugged. But the biggest difference was the look on Hawks' face, it was nothing like his previous expressions, it was filled with nothing but anger.
"So why don't you fuckers just do me a favor and die already?"
+/+
Hawks was just about done with his life.
He wasn't even pretending to be in a good mood anymore. His time spent investigating Lady Nagant to find out her location was piled on with the mission of finding out just who the new villain, Viktor, was.
Just from the video that went viral, they could already tell that he was working with Lady Nagant. If the jab about 'Fake heroes being hired' wasn't enough of a red flag, then him mentioning that he's working with a 'former employee' pretty much solidified that he's working with her to damage the Hero Community's reputation.
They didn't tell him what exactly was it that Viktor stole nor do they know how they found out about it, but whatever it was, it had incriminating files on the HPSC. Whatever was inside Deposit Box 134 was secretive enough that not even their top agent could know about it.
So why haven't the thieves released them yet? One video about it or just posting its contents on the internet would've caused major damage already, Viktor even threatened to let everyone in the world know, so why haven't they? If they were trying to damage the HPSC's reputation, then what are they waiting for?
These were the questions that got Hawks scratching his head and the agents anxious. Lady Nagant wasn't even the top priority anymore, whoever this 'Viktor' was and how he got in touch with her was what he needed to find out now.
But just like with Lady Nagant, they always seem to be one step ahead. Hawks was always too late or too far behind her to stop the hero deaths, and now he's trying to find some secret of the HPSC that he didn't know about, from a guy he knows nothing about, that works with an old acquaintance that's beaten him in every turn.
So needless to say, he's a bit short-tempered and tired these days.
Right now, he just wants to collapse on his bed and sleep for 16 hours straight.
But of course, life told him to go fuck himself and threw in a villain attack right as he's flying home. Thankfully these things aren't alive so he wouldn't have to clean his conscience if he uses them to vent a bit of frustration. But on the other hand, they were a lot more difficult than the run-of-the-mill street thugs.
"Oh shi-"
*BOOM*
He barely dodged a heat-seeking missile from hitting him, but it wasn't the only one. When he started combat against the two droids, he made sure that they followed him into the air, away from the infrastructure and civilians below, and now he's currently in an aerial dogfight with them.
He shoots out some of his feathers at the two droids to probe for weak spots but so far he hasn't found one yet.
'Whoever made these things knew what they were doing,' He thought to himself as he dodges energy blasts with evasive maneuvers. 'They're tough enough to resist my feathers and they're fast enough to somewhat keep up with me in the air.'
He barely dodges another energy beam. 'Ah! And their weapons are no joke either.'
So far, he's only been dodging and there are only light scratches onto the droids' shells from repeated attacks, but he couldn't keep this up, he needed a plan.
He turns back and looks at the two droids chasing after him, he sees their shoulders open up and fire the heat-seeking missiles again.
'Ugh, this fucking sucks. I'd like to see these fuckers eat a missile up their-!'
Then suddenly, he gets an idea.
He grins in preparation as he outspeeds the missiles again.
"Alright then, come on you flying fucking washing machines! Show me what else you got!"
BACK WITH MIRKO
"HAH!"
A kick to the dome.
"HI-YAH!"
A roundhouse to the chest.
"WOAH!"
Duck beneath a blade.
This pattern of attacking and dodging had been going on for over 20 minutes now but she's no step closer to destroying these things. Her kicks only push them back, she tried aiming for the weapons on their wrists but she barely made dents on the damn things.
And it's pissing her the fuck off.
"WHY!"
Kick.
"WON'T!"
Another kick.
"YOU!"
She dodges again.
"FUCKERS!"
They both fire point-blank so she jumps back to dodge.
"DIE!?"
In her rage, she rockets forward full speed and kicks one of them in the chest. She sent it flying far back and crashing through walls of cement, but she knew it wasn't down for the count. The civilians already backed off to a safer distance as the fight dragged on, she could still hear them thanks to her sensitive ears, but right now, she's only focused on the fight.
Reaching her breaking point, she attempts something different, she dodges a lunge from the other one by jumping over it and in the middle of her arc, mounts the droid's head and grips it tightly with her legs.
"Luna Tijeras!"
Calling out her super move, she twists her body and pulls with all her strength, intending to tip its head off. To her satisfaction, she hears the sound of metal tearing and sparks flying. The droid seemingly stops in its tracks and stands idly with its head partially ripped off and only attached to the body with wires.
She stands upside down with her hands as her feet hold the nearly decapitated head.
"Ha! I've figured you two out!" She boasted. "You guys have the ability to absorb impacts! That's why my kicks haven't been damaging you. But I can still tear you up limb-"
She pulls with her legs, ripping the head clean off on putting it between her feet as she stands up straight again.
"-from limb!"
She sees the now headless droid drop on the ground, the humming noise coming from it finally quieting down.
"Like I said, not even a warmup."
She looks back at the other one that she knocked away, it walks out of the hole from the wall that it was kicked into and didn't even acknowledge the now broken body of the other one. She grinned ferally as she prepared to break it too. Now confident more than ever as she figured out their weakness.
"Back for more? Alright, this won't even take a minute."
WITH HAWKS
'Come on… Come on…"
Hawks had a plan to win now, he knew how to beat these things. He never was good against power-type opponents or opponents with strong durability, and these robots can qualify as both.
Fortunately, he may have just found a weakness.
He was still in the air dodging their attacks and waiting for his opportunity.
'Just have to keep dodging until…'
Then he sees it, the droids preparing their missiles again.
'There! That's my chance.'
Hawks had been probing the robots the entire time they were in the air, his feathers weren't sharp enough to damage the shell.
'So if I can't damage it from the outside…'
Just as the launchers come out of their shoulders-
'Then I'll damage them from the inside!'
Small feathers that he hid on them while attacking shot forward towards the launchers!
Before the missiles even fired, the small feathers struck them and detonated them while they were still with the robots.
He sees the explosion travel throughout the robots' insides through the opening on their shoulders and they fall slack to the ground far below. They crash on top of a roof, the cement underneath cracking from the speed of their fall and dust briefly flying into the air.
Hawks dropped down onto the roof with them and waits for a few moments, to see if the bots will move again. They were smoking from the pre-detonation and there were some scorch marks on the red parts. But thankfully, they didn't move again. He sighed in relief.
He walks closer to the downed bots to see their design up close.
'Huh, never seen these kinds of designs before, they're loaded with weaponry. Who made them?'
But before he could think more of it, he hears something in the distance, a lot of things.
A WHILE BACK AT THE LONE DROID
Blood and smoke fill the street as the battle goes on. More and more heroes arrive on the scene to help against the droid, but so far they've only managed to slow it down. The droid only had minor damages visible on it, and it was relentless. Any attempts to lock it down or capture it was met with extreme prejudice. But the heroes aren't giving up, they will stop this thing, or they'll try anyway.
Fourth Kind yells out to the others. "Don't give up! Just keep fighting and we'll-"
He was cut off mid-sentence by a loud shout.
"Don't worry about that! Because I Am Here!"
That… was not All Might's voice.
They look towards the one who yelled, and they say a familiar black skull and infamous red-light standing on top of a destroyed store. Ten fingers with gun barrels were pointed toward all the heroes.
"Heya everyone!" Viktor called out enthusiastically. "Did'ja miss me?"
Before anyone can react, he started firing at an extremely rapid pace, his arms blurred as he continuously switched targets, most of the heroes didn't even have time to react as they were hit with powerful lasers, knocking away even the toughest of them. Those that attempted to dodge only delayed the inevitable.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!" Viktor yelled out rapidly as he kept firing.
A rain of lasers showered the heroes, not even giving them a chance to retaliate.
When Viktor finally stopped firing, the street was filled with nothing but holes on the ground, walls, and windows, along with heroes that now have circular burns on them. All of the heroes were on the ground, groaning and grunting in pain, but they were all still alive, if barely.
Viktor looks at the droid that the heroes were fighting, and he gives it a thumbs up.
Surprisingly it gives one back.
"Alright, the test's over, let's get you back to-!"
He quickly ducks forward in a blur to dodge a hero that attempted to kick him from behind, the hero passes over him and skids to a stop on the road below. He looks up to see who the hero was, and it was none other than Mirko herself.
"So you're Viktor eh?" Mirko questioned. "Why are you using robots to do your work huh? Are you scared of fighting me? I don't blame ya. You got a choice here, you could either wake up in a prison bed or a hospital bed." She cracks her knuckles as she looks up at him, with no fear in her eyes or voice, only eagerness for a fight. "Please tell me you pick the latter."
Viktor stands back up straight. "Ah, you must be the hot bunny girl of the city."
"THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME!?"
He merely shrugs and reaches for his wrist. "While I'd love to enjoy spending the night in bed with you-"
"OH, YOU ARE FUCKING DEAD!" She jumps at him in rage and is prepared to do a front ax kick at full strength.
"- I'm just here for the clean-up." He touches a high-tech-looking watch and presses a button on the side of it, sparks start to show up around him. "Ta-ta!"
"LUNA ARC!"
But before her kick could cave his head in, the sparks around him erupted into a bright light, briefly blinding her. Her foot meets nothing but air and the force only damaged the roof beneath where he was.
When her vision returned she looked back up and saw no sign that he was ever there.
"What?"
She looks at the street behind her and saw that the robot disappeared as well.
"That mother fu-"
"Mirko!"
She hears someone call her from above and looks up. It was Hawks.
He drops down onto the roof and looks around their area, he sees the damaged streets and buildings. "Looks like I'm late."
"Yes, yes you are." She deadpanned. "What the hell took you this long to respond if you were close by? Not that I needed the help, but the other weaklings could've used yours."
'Well, she sure doesn't mince her words does she?'
Mirko had always been known for flying solo (no pun intended), she refuses help whenever offered and she rarely works with anyone else. But still, she treats being a hero as a serious duty, so she still can talk normally with other heroes if the need for it arises. Even if she is a little difficult to talk to.
He raised his hands to placate her. "Hey gimme a break will ya? I had to fight two robots before going here."
"Bots? So you fought some too?"
"Wait, there were more than two?" He asked, shocked. "How many did you fight?"
She holds up two fingers and said. "They weren't that tough, heh, guess I beat them faster than you did huh?" She bragged.
He ignores her jab and focused on the fact that she fought robots just like he did. Suddenly the bad feeling in his chest comes back.
He looks around at the damage around them. "Can you tell me what happened here?"
She shrugs and pointed her thumb at the fallen heroes below them. "Not much to tell really, these losers just couldn't beat a single bot to save their lives."
"Wait, a single robot did this?" He asked.
'Was there a stronger robot around?' He thought to himself.
"What? No, it was that Viktor guy."
He focused on her completely when he heard the name. "Viktor? Like the guy who robbed Saitama Bank?"
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, you know any other Viktors?"
"Where is he now? Did he get away?" Hawks knew that Mirko was not only a very formidable opponent, but she was also one of the most strong-headed heroes alive. If she had the chance to fight someone like Viktor and he tried to escape, she would chase him all over Japan if she had to.
"What do you think I am, a rookie? He teleported after pressing a button on a watch or some bullshit like that."
"Teleported?" The bad feeling was becoming stronger now after she nodded in confirmation. 'A teleportation Quirk maybe? But his Quirk gave him guns on his fingers. Does he work with someone that has one? What about the watch? Was it some kind of tracking device so the teleporter knows his location? Shit, this whole scenario's just becoming worse and worse.'
He narrowed his eyes. "What was he doing here?"
"Other than saving the tinman and shooting those weaklings down there? He said he was just here to be the clean-up after a test."
"Clean-up… Test…" Hawks mouthed. "So this attack was just a test for the robots…" He started pacing as he tried to connect the dots.
'This is bad, someone out there has the means to produce combat droids that have the power to fight multiple heroes at once. Not only that, but this also confirms that Viktor and Lady Nagant works with them. Heroes being targeted, files from the HPSC being stolen, and now a possible teleportation Quirk and a potential army of robots at someone's beck and call.'
His thoughts become darker as he remembers every piece the enemy has. 'All of this seems to be pointing towards the same conclusion. Someone's targeting the whole hero system, not just the heroes themselves, but the government that works with them as well. But who?'
As Hawks' thoughts delve deeper, Mirko just looks at his appearance oddly, she notices his eyebags and thinks to herself that he must've been working on a case much longer than he should have.
'Eh, not my problem.' She shrugs nonchalantly. 'I'm more focused on that Viktor guy.'
She's seen the video, his power was the real deal, and it was the kind of power that she loved to fight against. But now?
She clenched her fists as she remembers his taunts. 'The nerve of that skull-headed red wearing shit stain! The next time I see him, I'm gonna bust that metal helmet off his face and shove it up his ass!'
+/+
"So what do you think? Because I think they were fine, but a few small changes are warranted." Kaina looked away from screens that showed the droids' recordings.
Izuku 1 was monitoring their status through a computer and seeing how they worked so far.
"They're fine, their power was just enough to be a bit of a challenge for top heroes and strong enough that lower heroes couldn't beat them on their own, we need them to be threatening, but beatable. Their exploitable weaknesses can be improved a bit, but the numbers we'll release them at should be enough to cover for it."
He looks up at the controlled Viktor and the other transported droids with him. One with minor damages, two of them fried from the inside, and the other two torn into pieces.
Mirko does not fuck around.
"ASIA you can put Viktor back in the pod now."
ASIA answers with Viktor's body. "Yes, father." She walks away to seal up the body again.
"Maybe make the droids a little smarter though, enough to create basic tactics on their own." Izuku 2 suggested.
The test was a success and not only that, but after figuring out Hawks' patterns and predicting his location at a specific point in time, they were able to schedule an attack at the perfect location to get his attention and properly test the droids against another top hero.
Sometimes, they still surprise themselves with their brilliance.
"So," Izuku 2 starts. "You said we could have a thousand before the school year right?"
"Yep."
Izuku 2 thinks of every single resistance they'll meet when they eventually reveal their hand.
"Speed the process up a bit," He tells Izuku 1. "We'll need at least 40,000 droids before the first year of high school is even over."
"40,000 huh?" Kaina questioned. "Man, now that I think about it, we could probably just take over the entire planet with these things."
"But where would be the excitement in that Kaina?" Izuku 1 asks her. He looks at the most recent posts on the internet's Hero Blogs.
"After all, we're not planning on taking over the world."
Holy shit guys! Did you see those weird robots today?
Robots? What the hell happened there?
It's true! I just saw Mirko fight two of them today!
Seriously? Fuck man, Skynet is real!
Don't be fucking dramatic.
Where did they even come from? I feel like the government should've known about something like that.
Maybe they are from the government! They escaped from the test lab and now want to enslave us all!
Alright, cool your jets everybody. Conspiracy theories have no place here.
Talks about the droids are already happening. Videos from phones have already been posted. By tomorrow, everyone in Japan would already know about them.
"We're planning on advancing it."
And scene. A few Author's notes.
My debut for writing fanfiction was supposed to start with 3 Oneshots for Halloween called "A Peek into the Dark Dekuverse". I was going to post about 3 different dark Izukus that I had been concocting in my head. One of them was the pilot for the original version of this fic, the one where he kills his younger self.
The other 2 were; An Adult Izuku that lives in a world where the Heroes won the war, but society was not any better. Corruption and fake heroes still ran rampant, in a world where the Quirkless still have no place. Disgusted with humanity, he decided to abandon it, turning himself into a machine that wanted to assimilate everyone on Earth and turn them into robots as well, so that no one on Earth would ever discriminate against one another ever again.
And the 3rd one was about Izuku from Canon until the War Arc, where an unfortunate death turned him into a remorseless killer that hunted down villains to kill them. In his quest, he eventually crosses the line to becoming a villain and kills a hero that got in his way. Undeterred, he swore that he'll use One for All to show the world what "real" justice should be like.
Sadly, those Oneshots were deleted.
