Chapter 5: The bad side of a person.
Sans was sitting in professor Oobleck's class as the man continued to run around the room with a blur. The former skeleton had never seen this guy without his coffee. The professor's blood is probably made of caffeine by now. He continued to tell the history of humans and monsters before they were sealed. Something that Sans knew too well of.
"Mister Gaster! Please, explain the reason why humans waged a war on monsters." The professor asked.
"monsters have the ability to consume human and faunus's souls to become much more powerful as their souls persist after death. humans and faunuses do not possess this feat due to the fact that monster souls turn to dust as they do. despite the fact that the monsters did not try to do this, the king of Vale did not want to risk it and slaughtered the monster." Sans gave him the answer.
"Correct, mister Gaster." The green haired man told Sans "Now, who can tell me the reason why we won this war without any casualties?"
Sans looked around the room and saw Cardin flicking a piece of paper at Jaune's neck, waking up the boy with. Seeing Jaune getting up, the professor happily called him.
"Yes, mister Ark. Finally contributing to the class." He called Jaune.
"The reason is… Uhh,... Why we did it is…" Jaune looked to Pyrrah, who was signalling to him.
"Oh! Explosions!" Jaune answered, causing everyone to laugh at him. Pyrrah is quite bad at giving a surprise signal.
"Very funny mister Ark. How about you, mister Winchester?" The professor asked as he looked up at Cardin.
"Those freaks didn't stand a chance against us." Cardin answered, causing Sans to frown.
"allow me to crack your skull open because you are a bit Close-minded." Sans punned.
"Eyyyyyy." Yang finger gunned the former skeleton.
"Why you-!"
*sigh*"Mister Winchester, please sit down." The professor cut Cardin off with a strict yet calm tone.
"I do have the answer. It's the element of surprise. The monster did not know that we were going to attack them, so they did not prepare for battle. Most monsters did not even want to fight, so we could easily defeat them without losing anyone." Pyrrah answered.
"Thank you miss Nikos. And for you, mister Winchester. You and mister Arc can meet me after school. Now, turn to page 52 everyone." The professor said.
TIMESKIP
While Jaune and Cardin were walking out of the door and suddenly, Cardin pushed him. Before Jaune's back hit the ground, he was caught by Sans's telekinesis. The boy glared at Cardin as he pulled Jaune back to his feet.
"I'm tempted to break his legs." Pyrrah commented.
"Why not? Let's do it!" Nora chimed.
"Guys, come on. I'm fine. Sans, back me up here." Jaune said as he looked at the former skeleton.
"sorry bud, I gotta agree with them." Sans said.
"Oh! Oh! Let's start a food fight in the canteen and beat them in it. Whatdya say, Sansy." Nora asked Sans, who chuckled.
"eh, i'll pass. i'm a bit busy then." Sans told her, causing her to whine.
"Where are you going?" Ruby asked.
"i think i'll sleep for a bit and go to downtown Vale." the former skeleton said.
"Why? Do you need something?" Blake asked him.
"yeah, Ruby got me hooked onto this weird comic about a huntsman. and i'm going to buy myself another volume." Sans said.
"It's not weird!" Ruby puffed her cheeks in anger.
"Suuure." Yang said sarcastically.
"Hush, Yang. You haven't even read it." Ruby said as she turned away from her sister.
"welp, i'm off to my room." Sans said as he teleported away.
"Gosh, does this buffoon do anything other than sleeping? He is a member of our team and so far, he hasn't done anything other than sleeping all day." Weiss complained
"I think Sans has insomnia." Blake commented.
"How do you know that?" Yang looked at her partner confusedly.
"He doesn't sleep at night. I sometimes go to the roof of our dorm at night and always see him sitting there drinking. He only sleeps in the daytime and whenever we get into his room to wake him up, he seems to be pretending to sleep." Blake answered.
"Hm, I've never thought about that." Weiss said.
"Well, we can always ask him whenever he comes back. I also have something to ask him too." Ruby said.
"Better not be if he wants to be your boyfriend." Yang glared at her sister.
"Yang! What the heck!? No, nooo! It's not that!" Ruby yelled as they continued their argument.
TIMESKIP
Ruby was at the arena staring at the floating light thing. Strangely, no one other than Sans and her was able to see it. She was curious to see what it was. The little Rose also saw another in sans's room and how he sometimes touched it. Apparently, her team didn't believe her and that made her even more curious.
'Maybe I can check it and put it back? Sans wouldn't even know it was touched.' Ruby thought to herself as she reached for the glowing star.
The memories then flooded to her. In front of her eyes, she saw Frisk holding a dusty knife as she walked toward a familiar hooded skeleton. Ruby could notice Sans's dirty blue hoodie and that unnatural grin anywhere. She looked around and saw that the hall they were in was in rubble.
"huff,... puff,... mind taking a break, kid? 'cause i could really use one right now. this isn't going anywhere, bud. You and i both know this means nothing to you but,... can i ask you to drop your knife? as for the one who is watching us right now, she would agree." Sans said as he took a few more breaths.
Ruby was startled by this, but she quickly realised that Sans wasn't talking about her and rather the green and yellow striped shirt shadow behind Frisk. The shadow was looking at Frisk with an unreadable expression.
"why did you even do this? is it because you are unhappy? unsatisfied of our happy ending? or is it just because you are bored and have nothing to do? heh, hell if i know." Sans continued his monologue, leaving Ruby in confusion.
'What is going on? Why are they fighting? What is he even talking about?' The little Rose was filled with questions.
"whatever your reason for this lust of power is, i can tell ya, it's not worth it. i know, behind that emotionless face of yours is someone who is really sad. in another timeline, we might be,... friends? come on, bud, reset. please. just put the knife down, and it'll make my life a lot easier." Sans pleaded.
'Timeline? Reset? What the heck is going on here!?' Ruby didn't know what to think anymore.
She looked at Frisk and saw the striped shirt figure, who is a girl probably her age, holding Frisk by the shoulder. Suddenly, tears filled Frisk's amber eyes. She dropped the knife and used both of her hands to cover her face. Frisk then ran toward Sans and hugged him.
"oh, you are sparing me, kid? heh, who would've thought. but, this doesn't guarantee that you won't do this again, and again, and again,..." Sans voice drifted away as his eye sockets went hollow.
"I won't *sob* I won't *sob sob* I promise." Frisk said as she continued to cry.
Sans eye sockets stayed hollow as he,... Frown?
"i don't believe you." The skeleton said with an emotionless tone.
*SHING*
Three bones came from the ground and impaled Frisk through the guts. She then looked at Sans with a mixture of sad and shocked expression on her face.
"Why?" A one-word question came from Frisk.
"NOOOOO!" Ruby cried as her silver eyes flashed a light, covering everything in white.
Sans's room
Sans was fixing a machine and suddenly, he felt a strange energy. Blue flames then burst out of his left eye as he turned around.
"what the hell was that?" Sans thought to himself.
Ozpin's office
Ozpin dropped his mug of coffee and it shattered once it hit the floor, spilling coffee all over the floor. His eyes widened in shock as he looked through the school's camera. He saw Ruby lying in the arena, unconscious.
"Get the medics to the arena immediately!" Ozpin said through the phone.
The next day
Ruby woke up to see herself in the infirmary. She looked to the right to see Yang on a chair next to her bed, sleeping with her right arm wrapped across Ruby's stomach.
Ruby leaned back to her pillow and thought about what had happened. She needed answers. The little black and red tip haired girl looked up to see the green and yellow striped shirt girl from that memory standing at the end of her bed looking at her.
"So, how was your sleep?" The girl ask.
"EEEEK!" Ruby screeched, startling the girl and caused Yang to fall backward.
Sorry because this chapter took so long. I have four different tests this week and I had to study for them. So, this is a cliffhanger eh? Don't worry, I won't follow RWBY's script that much. Shit's gonna hit the fan much faster than it does in the show. I'm gonna fill this one with plot twists. So, until next time.
