Chapter 12

Loki conjured his daggers and stood ready, Idunn seemed calculating and Mobius stood there, scratching his ear and wondering what they were on about.

"Who's Adam?" Mobius whispered conspicuously.

"He's the one who took her memories," Loki whispered back.

"And the worst thing you'll run into here," Idunn added as she stirred up the flurry, to keep them hidden a bit longer.

"Is he going to kill us?" Mobius continued on his volume.

"He might kill you," Idunn stated and conjured up a large white circle portal. "Go to the house, you'll be safer there." She pushed the circle towards Mobius and it enveloped him and disappeared.

Loki opened his mouth to say something but shut it again quickly.

"Hello Eve," a voice said from a distance, "You've come back to me."

Idunn convulsed and shook it off. Loki stood closer to her and whispered to her, "What are we going to do?"

"Just don't kill him. Not yet. Just need to distract him." Idunn whispered back and walked around the tree to see Adam standing near the edge of the wood, waiting for them.

Adam was slightly larger than a normal human being and his proportions looked wrong. His skin, like Idunn's, was gold and seemed to glint in the sunlight. But unlike Idunn, who practically mesmerized Loki, Adam triggered Loki's upchuck reflex. There was just something off about him.

"And you brought him back," Adam added when he saw Loki, "Bored of your toy already?"

"Listen here you mewling quim," Loki started but Adam cut him off.

"Shut up," Adam simply said. "The superiors are talking."

Idunn rolled her eyes and shook her head at Loki.

"There's nothing superior about you, Adam," Idunn stated, seemingly distracted. "That," she pointed at Loki, "is what superior looks like. You're just a shaved gorilla." She started pacing with her hands behind her back.

Adam narrowed his eyes at her took a deep breath. It looked as if he grew a few more inches.

"That is just a human," Adam pointed at Loki too.

"I beg your pardon?" Loki spat.

"That's an Asgardian God," Idunn specified. "You will respect him!"

Adam laughed and she turned to face him quickly. "I think you will do well to kneel to him," Idunn indicated, causing a frown and then a smile on Loki's face.

Adam continued to laugh and Loki noticed what Idun was up to as she fidgeted with the gadget she'd stolen from Mobius. This wasn't something that Adam would be able to see from his angle.

"Kneel," Loki said simply, conjuring up a scepter and stepping closer, his whole demeanor changing to that of the god of mischief.

"Adam, do it!" Idunn expressed angrily.

"I said, kneel!" Loki shouted but Adam merely snarled at them.

Idun made a fist in the air and pulled it down as if pulling an invisible rope and Adam was forced down to the ground as if she'd manipulated his puppet strings.

"No," with a growl, Adam stood up slowly as if struggling against invisible chains and launched himself at them both.

He swatted at them each in turn as he reached them and missed as they jumped or teleported out of the way.

"I said, kneel!" Loki repeated, slamming the scepter into the ground, making it tremble, and forced Adam to the ground. Idunn teleported within reach of Adam and wrapped a TVA bracelet around Adam's wrist and jumped away again before he could grab her.

As Adam tried to pull the bracelet off, Idun pushed a few buttons and opened a gray portal, jumping closer and kicking him through the door.

As it closed, Idunn sighed. "That could have gone a thousand different ways," she said as she turned to Loki. He made the scepter disappear and pulled her closer for a kiss.

"Where did you send him?" Loki asked as he pointed at the gadget. Idunn showed him the screen.

"Doesn't really matter where specifically, but anywhere from where we just came from he won't have any powers, but that door sent him to a void cell. Let him simmer in there until I can figure out how to get my memories from him."

"Where are we anyway?" Loki asked as he picked up some snow. "This isn't snow," he uttered when he held a handful of wispy petals.

"Adam's side of the planet. I wasn't sure where the thing was going to bring us."

"Where did you send Mobius?" Loki gestured to the spot where Mobius had disappeared.

"Back to the house," Idunn conjured up a second circle portal and Loki could see the lake through the middle.

"I don't think the house is there anymore," Loki alerted as he and Idunn walked through to the other side. Once they stepped up to the side of the lake, they could see Mobius sitting on the small island where the house used to be. When he saw them, he stood up and waved sheepishly. Very casually, Idunn and Loki started walking onto the water towards the island. Idunn took his hand and he felt energy surge through them as the house began to materialize again. Mobius walked in circles as the house rebuilt itself as if time fastwarwarded around him.

"That's so cool!" Mobius exclaimed as they reached the porch and the house was fully erect behind him. "That's why they call you Infinity."

"What do you mean?" Loki questioned.

"Well, she wields the powers of the Infinity stones."
