Chapt 9 A Good Woman Informed

The Ponds and the Doctor entered the gates of Hogwarts after arriving back to 1996. They went down the stairs toward the potions classroom, noticing a group of students sitting at the long tables quietly. Professor Snape was not in the room.

Taking a seat at the chairs at the back of the room, they waited.

Suddenly the door banged open with Professor Snape striding down between the tables and whirled, facing the students. Taking note of the visitors in the back, he changed the subject of the day. "Class, we have Headmaster Doctor and Apprentices Pond visiting us today. You will brew something that should not kill them if you muck it up." Inwardly chuckling as he saw the distressed looks of the Apprentices. Turning around, he flicked his wand to the chalkboard and the name, instructions and the ingredients appeared. "You have an hour, more than enough time for this simple brew. Get to it!"

Severus sat down at his desk and watched the students scramble to the ingredient closet, except for Miss. Granger, who took the time to write down the potion instructions and waited until the ingredient closet cleared of students. "Miss, Granger" he snarled out. "You will have detention with me if you attempt to help anyone out."

Hermione nodded to her professor before she made her way to the closet. Looking over the list she took with her, she noticed the sprig of peppermint missing and grabbed it before moving back to her desk.

Soon 45 minutes were up and the students marked their phials and handed them to Professor Snape who looked at them one at a time before placing them in a rack in front of his desk.

Severus moved in front of his desk and picked up a faint yellow phial. "Mr. Longbottom, 10 points from Gryffindor as this would make our visitors very angry, the opposite of the effects of the Elixir to Induce Euphoria."

Placing the phial back down into the rack, he picked up another that was brighter yellow in color. "Mr. Malfoy, your brew is acceptable for testing."

Hermione immediately raised her hand up. "Miss. Granger put your hand down now! Headmaster Doctor, please come down and try the Elixir."

"Professor Snape, I am immune to most elixirs and brews. Apprentices Pond will be happy to try the phial."

Amy shot the Doctor a glare before pulling Rory out of his chair and led him to the front of the classroom. "Professor Snape, please tell me what the desired outcome from the elixir."

Professor Snape spoke out. "It induces the feeling of euphoria; Hence the name of the Elixir. One sip should last for five minutes."

Rory took the phial from Severus and took a sip before handing it to Amy, who also took a sip.

Soon they twirled each other around and sang.

"Sunshine, you are my sunshine" Amy sang and tweaked her nose.

"You make me happy when skies are grey." Rory followed up

Both sang out. "Please don't take my sunshine away!"

The students laughed as they watched the apprentices continue to sing and tweak their nose before they both stopped. "Professor, this elixir seems properly made. I experienced the Euphoria mentioned." Amy spoke before returning to the back of the classroom, along with Rory.

"That was embarrassing." Rory growled out.

"It was, but you really are my sunshine." Amy replied and held his hand,

"Twenty points to Slytherin for a perfect elixir." Professor Snape called out before dismissing his students.

"But Professor Snape!" Hermione raised her hand. "What about the side effects?"

"Ten points from Gryffindor for speaking out of turn. You are dismissed Miss. Granger!" Severus snarled out.

The Slytherins laughed as they walked out of the classroom.

Hermione angrily placed her books and potions equipment into her satchel She knew her potion was perfect and there would have been no singing or nose tweaking. She wouldn't put it past her Professor for allowing the lesser brew just for embarrassment

Headmaster Doctor halted her from exiting the classroom. "Miss. Granger, could you come to our room after dinner and explain these side effects?"

Hermione glanced at professor Snape for a moment, noticing his glare. "I'll see you after dinner."

Severus glanced at the departing visitors not bothered He would argue that the Elixir worked as required if any questions arose.

Hermione knocked on the door to Headmaster Doctor's quarters and patiently waited. His name was a strange name to be sure, as Doctor was a muggle term as Wizard doctors were known as healers. If the opportunity was given, she would ask him. Maybe his school rose from magical muggles?

Amy opened the door and motioned her inside. Stepping in Hermione noticed the Headmaster picking up notecards from the round table in the sitting room and placed them in his pocket.

"Miss. Granger, thank you for meeting with us. Please take a seat." Pulling out a chair from the table and motioned her to sit.

Hermione sat down and waited as Headmaster Doctor sat across from her.

"May I call you Hermione? As I am a visitor, I like to use first names." When she nodded her head, the Doctor continued. "Please tell us of the side effects that you mentioned."

"It's nothing really major Headmaster Doctor. If you add a sprig of peppermint at a certain stage of the brewing, then the singing and nose tweaking would not have happened. I'm sure Professor Snape used it as a learning experience."

"All well then. At least Amy and Rory have a lovely singing voice, so no harm done. My knowledge is mostly Arithmancy and not well versed in Potions."

"Tell me of your Professor Snape. How are his classes as I observed he seems to be difficult?"

Hermione took the neutral ground. "Potions can be dangerous if improperly brewed, so he has stringent standards, and rightfully so."

The Doctor nodded in agreement. "Tell me Hermione, have you ever heard of Time Travel?"

The question was out of right field. She used a Time Turner the past. "There are devices available that can take you back in time a few hours at most. This question does not seem related to Potions so why ask it?"

"She's sharp one, Doctor." Rory spoke out.

"Hermione, will you walk with us on the Grounds. I'd like to see the squid that everyone talks about."

Soon they were sitting on a large rock next to the Black lake, watching the Giant Squid peek up above the water and flick a couple of tentacles out of the water, waving.

Amy waved back. "That squid is huge!"

"Well worth the visit." Rory agreed.

"Thank you for joining us Hermione. The castle portraits are gossipy and report everything they overhear to Headmaster Dumbledore. So tell me, what are your thoughts on Time Travel? Specifically hundreds of years to a millennia?"

Hermione thought carefully before answering. Obviously the Headmaster was testing her, perhaps to see if she was forward thinking.

"I believe anything is possible Headmaster. Perhaps the Muggles will achieve it in the distant future. "

"What if I told you that Time travel across large distances of time and space is possible? And that I have a time machine close by."

"I would like to see it, Headmaster Doctor. At least it would prove your theory is sound."

Amy laughed out, seeing the skeptical look on Hermione's face. "I could not believe it at first either."

The Doctor pulled his Sonic Screwdriver out of his robes and pointed it toward the tree line of the Forbidden Forest. Hermione gasped out in surprise as a blue police box appeared.

Hermione remained skeptical. "It's a bit small for the three of you to travel."

Rory pulled Hermione up from the rock, motioning to follow the Doctor, who already headed toward the TARDIS,

Hermione watched Headmaster Doctor pull a key out of his robes, and open the door to the TARDIS, motioning her inside.

She followed the Headmaster inside and gasped out. "It is larger on the inside!" Eying what looked very alien. "You're not human are you?"

"Let's not get the fact that I have two hearts get between us." The Doctor quipped out as he began pulling levers.

"Brace yourself Hermione!" Rory shouted out as the TARDIS began to hum and whirr.

Hermione grasped tightly to a rail next to her, and after feeling a hard motion, it stopped as quickly as it began.

"Hermione, open the door, but do not step out" The Doctor told her.

Amy led her to the door of the TARDIS and opened it, hearing Hermione gasp out in surprise.

Hermione marveled that she was in space looking down at the Earth, the Doctor's words proving at least Space travel was possible in a Police Box.

She turned around and looked at Headmaster Doctor. 'Why have you revealed yourself to me?

The Doctor smiled. "I wish to save a good Wizard from a horrible death."
