Chapter 15

"Isn't that so cool?" Mobius exclaimed, "your mother," he pointed at Loki, "gave the Hammer," and then at Idunn, " to your mother. And to top it off, Hela never destroy the real Hammer!"

"Hela is in the future you won't have because you went off your timeline. It's semantics, don't worry about it." Mobius added when he looked at confused faces.

"So let me get this straight," Idunn stood from her chair, waved her hand and a blue holographic screen appeared. She drew a long line across the screen with her finger and went back, making slashes in the line with numbers appearing above them.

"My father was born here," she indicated at the 1918 notch, "lived until here," her finger moved to 2023, "and then went back," she bounced her fingers between the other dates, all the way back to the 1940s, "and then he lived on from there until here?" her finger pointed far beyond 2023.

"Yes," Mobius stated. "you came in here," he pointed in the space between 1949 and 1960, "And you jumped time and space, ending up here." He pointed at 2012. "This is when Loki escaped. He could only move through space with the tesseract. But you possess the power of both space and time."

"Why here? Why now?" Idunn wondered.

"You could go back to that moment and ask yourself why you came here," Loki suggested.

"That might cause a nexus event." Mobius sat up straight, alert.

"Why here? Why now?" Idunn repeated slowly, deep in thought again.

"Was it a mistake? Did I know you would be here? Wait, did I come here to kill Adam? But it's an undetectable planet, so how would I have known? If I knew you'd be here, why did I come here? Did my father send me? Was it another cosmic random thing?"

Her mind rushed and she grew increasingly panicked in her words as she started pacing.

Loki stepped up to her and took her hand away from her mouth where she'd started picking at her lips. He placed calming hands on her shoulders and forced her to focus on him, "Idunn, darling, don't worry, we will figure this out. You don't have to solve it all in one minute."

Loki gently stroked her hair calmingly and she leaned in for a kiss.

"Guys, seriously," Mobius shook them apart. "You could really cause another nexus event and call them back here."

"Why are you telling us this?" Idunn snapped her head towards him, suddenly curious. "Why are you actually helping us?"

"Well, this is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me, that I know of," Mobius stated. "I mean, I've been studying you your whole life and here you got taken to the TVA. Sure, you were intended to be destroyed there. But you made it out. And then there's Loki, who will survive, no matter what. This is just the best thing that this humanoid has ever experienced. I didn't even know I could get this excited."

"What do you mean humanoid?" Idunn frowned.

"I don't know what I am, everyone who works at the TVA are automated beings created by the Timekeepers," Mobius pursed his lips.

"Really?" Idunn and Loki said at the same time.

"Can I feel you?" Idunn stepped closer with her hand outstretched.

"What do you mean, feel me?" Mobius sat back, trying to get away.

"Read your mind," Loki informed him.

"Does it hurt?" Mobius pulled a face.

Loki smiled and then tried to hide it. "No, it doesn't," Loki lied.

"I won't hurt you," Idunn reassured him, wiggling her fingers eagerly.

Mobius stared at Loki for a minute before extending his hand to Idunn. "Worth a shot, I guess."

Idunn took his hand in a handshake as if she was being extra careful with him. She stepped closer and placed her other hand on his arm as she was reading his mind.

"You're not a humanoid," she said, shaking her head. "You're pure human. Memories and heartbeat and everything."

"Memories?" Mobius asked, confused. "I don't have memories."

"You have more memories than I do," she stated and let go of his hand.

"That's not possible. The TVA made me," he moaned.

"How did you put it?" Loki thought, "Have you ever known a villain to tell the truth?"

"The TVA isn't evil." Mobius tried.

"They want to kill us, just for existing!" Idunn said through clenched teeth. "They can't be good."

Mobius stared at her and then at Loki, he looked down at his hand, recalling the soft fizzing sensation he had felt when she held his hand. "Show me," Mobius insisted and stepped closer, holding his hand out again. "Can you show me?" he added unsure when she merely stared back at him.
