Chapter 15: New world, new enemies.

Sans walked along with Gaster as they spoke of Sans's days in Beacon Academy. They ended up doing a pun battle and laughed as they ketchup on things.

"So, did you learn much from Beacon, or did it just turn you into a bigger of a Bonehead?" Gaster asked.

"yeah, i did. i even ate a dictionary before taking a writing test. that gave me Thesaurus throat in my entire life." Sans chuckled.

"Heh, that was not very bad, actually. A guy in my high school once sawed his left side off. He was All-right after that though. I always complained that high school was too High, but no one did a single thing about it!" The elder skeleton punned back.

"AHAHAHAHAHA! that Cracked me up!" The blue hood laughed loudly.

They both laughed as they reached the elevator to the Core. Gaster pressed the elevator button. And the elevator broke and fell to the bottom floor.

"By the gods, the risk was Calculated, but I guess that I'm in no right mind to do any maths." The scarred skeleton told his son before sighing.

"*Sigh* I guess we are taking the stairs, then."

"ughhhhhhh,... i don't wanna take the stairs, doc. they're always Up To something." Sans groaned.

"Oh, quit being a Babybones, use your short cuts." Gaster told him.

"fineeeee,... here." The blue hooded skeleton sighed as he teleported both of them to the Core.

"Now, that wasn't so hard, was it?" The scar faced skeleton asked.

"whatever, let's just get to the-"

*ROOOOOOAR*

"Core,..." The younger skeleton finished.

The two of them turned their attention to a pack of Grimm strolling in front of them. It consisted of some Beowolves, some Ursas, some Creeps and some Apathys in the distance. And for some strange reasons, the Grimm had some sort of mechanical enhancements.

"Did no one ever teach you that it is rude to interrupt someone?" Gaster taunted as he walked up to them.

The Grimms responded by charging at him.

"Well then, allow me to teach you all a lesson." The scarred skeleton finished as skeletal hands and several scarred blasters materialized around him.

All of the blasters shot their light beams at the Grimm at the same time. The skeletal hands with a large hole in the palm were shooting Wing Dings out of the hole. The symbols hit the Grimms body like bullets and pierced right through them.

The cybernetic enhancements helped them stand against the symbols, but not the light beams. They couldn't even get close to the two before being disintegrated by the elder skeleton's blasters.

Five Apathys suddenly burst out of the door to Gaster's right and tried to drain away his will. The elder skeleton just chuckled as he summoned a giant skeletal hand and launched it at the Apathys.

The hand grabbed all of them and pinned them to the ground. The Grimms struggled as they tried to break free from the giant hand.

"Oh dear, you thought that you could drain my will that easily? Unfortunately for you, I've faced the true meaning of desperation while I was in the void, and I must say. Your attempts have proven to be very disappointing." The void walker said smugly.

The hand then lit up in a bright red color and exploded, killing all of the Apathys. The scar faced skeleton dusted himself off and turned around, only for him to come face to face with a Griffon's mechanical beak.

Gaster disappeared as the Griffon bit air and reappeared at the same spot right after the Griffon flew past him. Right after that, the Cyber Griffon was impaled by a chunk of bones.

"save sum for me, G!" Sans called out to his father.

The blue jacket skeleton then used 'Integrity' to slam the flock of incoming Griffons to the ground and used 'Bravery' on every bone he summoned from the ground to impale the Grimms. Some of the Griffons in the lines behind managed to avoid the wave of telekinesis and flew at the two.

Two giant skeletal fists came from two sides and impacted on one another, squatting the flock of Griffons. Two large scarred blasters then appeared stacked on each other and spun in circles as they blasted two beams at the flock of Grimms, mowing them down like grass.

"now, for the finishing touch." The younger skeleton stated as a pack of Creeps came running at them.

Sans then summoned bones with the trait 'Bravery' from the walls, the ceiling and the floor and launched them at the incoming Grimms. A few blasters with the power of 'Justice' shot at any openings that the bones left. Even a gust of wind couldn't get past the attack.

"Who is enhancing those Grimm and why are they doing it, I wonder." The void monster asked.

"whoever this Quackhead might be, we will put a stop to this." The younger skeleton said to himself.

The two of them kept walking as they watched their surroundings. They finally made it to the lazers and tried to shut it off. For some reasons, the code was changed and the two former scientists couldn't do a thing to turn it off. Sans looked at Gaster and shrugged while the older skeleton just scratched his chin thoughtfully.

"that's weird, i don't remember this being here last time." Sans said.

"When did you come back, and what were you even doing once you got back?" The scarred skeleton asked.

"last night, and sleeping." The blue hood replied.

"And, instead of checking on the Core the next morning, you went straight into drinking?" Gaster asked with a raised eyebrow.

The younger skeleton just stood there and questioned how skeletons even raise an eyebrow. Then again, a skeleton monster's body functions differently compared to a human skeleton.

"*sigh* Can you teleport us to the other side?" The elder skeleton facepalmed.

The blue hood just shrugged before teleporting both of them to the other side. The two kept on walking when they saw many red androids opening fire at them.

Sans stood completely still as 'Patience' kicked in, making the bullets go straight through him without doing a single thing to him and Gaster summoned an energy shield in front of him to block off the bullets. The two of them looked at one another before the void monster materialized a blaster out of thin air and the blue hood used 'Justice' on that blaster.

A yellow energy was then shot from the blaster to the closest android. The beam zig-zagged from one android to another and destroyed each and all of them.

"Hmmm,... Visitors, I see. Monster kind too." A voice spoke over the speaker.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" The scar faced skeleton asked.

"Greetings. I hope that you don't mind me using this place as a base of operation. I must say, that's a spectacular show you put on." The voice spoke again.

"you haven't answered the question." The younger skeleton pressed.

"My apologies, my name is doctor Merlot. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." Said Merlot.

"It wasn't much of a pleasure for us, if I was being honest." Gaster stated.

"I would sit down with you two and have a cup of tea, but my security doesn't feel the same way. I must say that your invention is very impressive. A machine that powered this very world." The doctor told them.

"save your praise, Merlot. what do you want?" Sans asked.

"A bit rude here, are we?" Doctor Merlot said sarcastically.

"yeaaah,... i don't really like those who shot first and ask questions later." The blue hood said.

"I wouldn't say that you are very polite with your lazers and androids either, so would you be so kind and shut those things off?" The void monster asked politely, but there was a certain hint of sarcasm in his tone.

"I'm afraid that I cannot do that. Who knows what you'll do to me without my security." Merlot faked fear.

"again, what do you want, and why are you here?" Sans asked again.

"Oh, I just couldn't help myself once I heard that the Barrier was destroyed. I always wondered what monster's science like. I came here to satisfy my curiosity. Needless to say, I was impressed. Your creations and blueprints are very fascinating." The doctor remarked.

"Leave my creations alone or else." The void monster's face formed a melting, twisted smile.

"Ohhhhh,... How fearful. Or else what?" Merlot challenged.

"Or I'll show you the true meaning of pain." Gaster's eyes lit red and purple as he replied.

The speaker then shut itself off and the two of them continued walking. After a good while, Sans decided to break the silence using WingDings.

"you good, doc?"

"No. That imbecile knows nothing of what he's doing! We need to stop him before he does anything stupid." Replied Gaster.

"agreed." The younger skeleton nodded.

"We must make haste and take him down. Kill him if we must. I am not risking this whole universe for a mad man's curiosity." The man who speaks in hand stated.

"ironic, since you were in the same position 16 years ago." The blue hood told him.

"All the more reasons to stop him. He's lucky that killing is frowned upon in four Kingdoms. But, we are not in the four Kingdoms, are we? If he is a huge threat, your Judgment would tell." The elder skeleton said.

"heh, true. buuuut,... i think in order to do that, we need to get past this one first." The skeleton with six souls said in regular language again.

Almost as if on cue, a Hound Grimm jumped down from the ceiling at them. Sans used 'Kindness' to create a barrier and stopped the creature's pound.

'Bravery' bones then came from the side of two walls to impale the Hound Grimm. It immediately jumped back to avoid the attack.

Sans dissolved the shield and summoned two blasters to shoot the light beam at the Hound. It jumped to the ceiling to avoid the beam and stretched it's left arm out like a whip and whipped at Gaster.

The man who speaks in hand then summoned two giant hands and used one to catch the Grimm's arm and the other to shoot WingDings at the Grimm.

It jumped back to the ground and lunged at the two skeletons. The Hound cocked it's arms back before swinging it's claws at the two, but it was suddenly stopped mid-air.

Sans had used his telekinesis to catch the Grimm while it was still in the air and summoned thick walls of bones behind it before throwing the creature through the walls. The bone wall was shattered on impact.

The Hound Grimm growled as it slowly stood up. The creature roared as it readied to charge again. Sans just sighed as he joked.

"need a break, pal? you really seem,... beaten. no use in beating a dead horse amirite?"

"Or a dead Hound in this scenario." The scarred skeleton added.

"No… Not until I completed my mission." The Hound Grimm answered, leaving everyone shocked.

The man who speaks in hand widened his eyes before frowning.

"You're a Grimm that speaks. You might be the first of your kind to be recorded throughout history. It would seem that eliminating you right now would be the best course of action." Gaster said coldly.

The Hound roared as three more arms with sharp claws came out of each side of it's back. The Grimm then shot all of it's arms at the two of them.

When the claws were only a few centimeters from their faces two 'Justice' blasters shot their beams at the arms. The beams flew in zig-zagged motion and cut down the Hound's arms to pieces before hitting it straight in the chest.

The Grimm staggered back a few steps before a large skeletal hand fell upon it and pinned it to the ground. Hundreds of blue bones then came out from the ground and impaled the Grimm.

The skeletal hand then grinded the Hound on the blue bones before throwing it to the air. Bones then emerged from the walls, the ceiling and the ground to impale the Hound Grimm from all angles.

The Grimm screeched in pain as it struggled, trying to free itself. Then, dozens of blasters materialized around the creature before all of them shot their beams at the Hound at the same time.

The attack disintegrated the Grimm, leaving nothing, other than ashes, behind. The two skeletons then let out a sigh they didn't know they were holding.

"Sans, I believe that this creature is here to stall us. We need to get going before that man gets away with the research." Gaster said.

"couldn't agree more." The blue hood nodded.

The two of them entered the old lab,... Just as a man wearing a lab coat was being eaten by a dog Amalgamate. He was wearing a lab coat outside of a blue T-shirt and brown pants with a pair of black shoes. He had disheveled grey hair with a left cyber eye along with a right metallic arm. They guessed that this guy is doctor Merlot.

"Well,... This is awkward." The mad scientist said.

"boy, do I have a bone to pick with ya." Sans grinned wider.

The Amalgamate whimpered.

"no, not you. the dude you're eating." The blue hooded skeleton told the Amalgam.

"Mock me all you want, but I'll have you know that there's nothing you can do to stop me now. My employer had already gotten the files. Soon, we will break through this universe and move from one to another." Doctor Merlot paused for a moment before continuing.

"Think about it, infinite knowledge in infinite universes. Just think about what good and improvement we could bring to Remnant. No more fear of Grimm, no more racism, no hunger, no more war. We will finally achieve the peace we've dreamt of."

"So, your employer has already gotten it. Salem got it." Gaster stated.

"who now?" The younger skeleton asked, but the scar-faced skeleton just raised his right hand, silencing him.

"How did-"

"How did I know?" Gaster cut him off "Heh, that's one of the pros of being everywhere at the same time."

"so, if he has already done what we came to stop him from doing,... then, we don't need him anymore, right? the guy's LV is 39 btw." Sans stated.

"It would seem so. However, he still has some information I need." The man who speaks in hand stopped before a twisted smile once again formed on the elder skeleton's face as it melted.

"And, he would make a fine specimen. Sans, do me a favor and feed the Amalgamates for me. I will ask our guest a few questions." He said.

"sure, doc. save me the fragments of his soul. i kinda gave one soul away." Sans turned away before telling the Amalgamates.

"c'mon, guys. i still have some bags of chips."

The two skeletons then walked in opposite directions. Sans opened a bag of chips and started feeding the melting creatures while Gaster summoned a large skeletal hand and dragged the struggling man to the dark room.

Man, I procrastinate too much. I took too long just to update one chapter, and it wasn't even a long chapter. So, if you guys are irritated by my slow updates, I'm sorry.
