BeChloe Week 2022 - Day 6

Prompt: "Ma'am, this is Starbucks."

Twenty-five-year-old pop singing sensation, Beca Mitchell, stumbled out of the bar with her best friend, Stacie Conrad. It was two a.m., and the pair had just spent the last four hours drinking and dancing the night away. They weren't totally drunk, but they were just tipsy enough that they were better off not driving.

"I shouldn't drive," Beca said. "I'll call Jason and have him pick us up."

"Tell him we'll be at the Starbucks across the street while we wait for him," Stacie said.

"Are they open?" Beca asked.

"The sign says they are open twenty-four hours," Stacie said. "We can wait there, and I could have a coffee and a muffin. That should sober me up some."

Beca called her driver, and when she was finished with the call, she looked at Stacie. "I woke him up, so he'll be here in about thirty to forty-five minutes."

"Perfect," Stacie said, making her way to the Starbucks across from the club.

Beca followed and entered the Starbucks behind Stacie. They looked around but didn't see anyone.

"Are you sure they're open?" Beca asked.

"Hello?!" Stacie called out. "Is anyone here?"

A blonde woman came from the back and looked at the girls.

"Hello," the blonde said. "May I help you?"

"We want coffee," Stacie said, smirking at the blonde. "But, there might be something else I want as well."

The blonde, whose name tag said Aubrey, blushed, and Stacie winked at her.

"What would you like?" Aubrey croaked out, her face beet red.

"Well, Aubrey," Stacie said, looked at the blonde's name tag, and smirked. "I'd like a Grande mocha frappuccino, no whipped, and your phone number."

Aubrey blushed more as she rang up the order. "Your name, please?"

"Stacie."

"That will be five twenty-nine," Aubrey said.

"I'd like to add a blueberry muffin to that," Stacie said. "Thank you."

Stacie pulled out a bill and held it out toward Aubrey.

Aubrey started to reach for it, staring at Stacie the entire time. Stacie smirked and raised an eyebrow at Aubrey.

"Could I get a Big Mac and fries with a coffee, please?" Beca asked Aubrey, causing her and Stacie to break their stare.

"Ma'am, this is Starbucks," Aubrey said. "We don't serve Big Macs."

"Did you seriously just ma'am me?" Beca asked, smirking with one eyebrow raised.

"Beca," Stacie hissed. "Be nice."

"I am being nice," Beca hissed back. "And, now that I have your attention, Aubrey. May I have a banana muffin and a large coffee?"

"I'll get that for you, Miss Mitchell," a redhead said from behind the counter.

Beca looked up, and her eyes caught sight of the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen.

"Wow, you're hot," Beca said, looking at Chloe. She blushed when she realized she had said the words out loud.

"Thanks," Chloe said, shooting Beca a wink.

Chloe and Aubrey went to prepare Beca and Stacie's coffee orders.

"Brey, why didn't you tell me we had customers and that one of them was Beca Mitchell?" the redhead whispered.

"Sorry, Chloe," Aubrey said. "I was too busy trying to keep my cool in front of Stacie. I mean, look at her; she's gorgeous. And she was flirting with me!"

Chloe barked out a laugh, causing the girls to look at her and Aubrey. Chloe blushed at her outburst and went to get Beca's muffin from the display case.

"Is everything okay back there?" Beca asked, watching Chloe move away from Aubrey.

"Yes, ma'am," Chloe said, grimacing when Beca smirked and raised her eyebrow. "Everything's fine."

"You just ma'amed me," Beca said. "What is with everyone calling me ma'am tonight? Do I look old or something?"

"Um, I'm sorry, ma-," Chloe started to say and stopped. "Miss Mitchell. It's a sign of respect and has nothing to do with your age."

Chloe smiled at Beca, and Beca found herself smiling back at Chloe.

"Can I buy you a cup of coffee?" Beca asked. "We have to wait a while for our car, and Stacie seems to be enamored with your friend, so maybe you two can take a break and have coffee with us…Or not…It's just a suggestion…One you can totally ignore if you want…Am I rambling? It's me; of course, I'm rambling…I'm sorry for, um, rambling…I'm just going to shut up now."

Chloe's smile grew wider. It fell when Beca suddenly turned and hurried over to sit at a table away from the counter.

Beca slumped her shoulders, put her elbows on the table, and held her head in her hands. She started mumbling to herself whilst staring down at the table.

"Don't mind her," Stacie told Chloe. "She just gets nervous around pretty women."

"Oh," Chloe said, her smile back in place. "Aubrey, I'm taking my break now."

Chloe poured herself a cup of coffee and placed it on a small tray with Beca's coffee and muffin. She picked up the tray and walked over to where Beca was sitting, still staring down at the table.

"Excuse me," Chloe said, causing Beca's head to pop up. "It's a bit, um, busy, and there aren't any empty seats available. Would you mind if I sat here with you?"

Beca looked around, confused; the coffee shop was empty. She returned her gaze to Chloe, only to see her smiling at her. Beca mouthed a silent "oh."

"Of course," Beca croaked. She cleared her throat. "I mean, I'd love it if you sat here. With me."

Stacie watched the interaction and smiled when Chloe set the tray on the table and then sat next to Beca. She turned to Aubrey.

"Would you like to join us as well?" she asked.

"Yes, I'd like that," Aubrey said. "I'll bring your order over to the table."

"Don't be too long," Stacie said, winking at Aubrey.

~ BeChloe Week 2022 - Day 6 ~

One year later, Beca and Stacie were working together to plan a special evening for their girlfriends. After their initial meeting, the four women became friends and, after a short time, couples.

"On Saturday, it will be one year since we met Chloe and Aubrey," Beca told Stacie. "I want to do something special for Chloe and thought you and Aubrey would like to join us."

"What are you going to do?"

"I'm taking her out to dinner and then to a club for some dancing and drinking," Beca said. "And after, we'll make a trip to the Starbucks where we met. Once we get there, I'm going to, um, I'm going to ask Chloe to marry me."

"Oh, my god, Beca!" Stacie squealed. "I should ask Aubrey, too."

"No!" Beca said. "Come up with your own idea; this one is mine."

"Come on, Beca," Stacie pleaded. "We met them both at the same time on the same date and have been hanging out and doing stuff together ever since. It stands to reason that we'd propose at the same time."

"No," Beca said. "It's got to be a special day for Chloe."

"Being proposed to on the same day as her best friend will be special for Chloe," Stacie said. "And for Aubrey."

Beca sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry I told you my plan."

"It's a good plan," Stacie said. "I've been thinking about asking Aubrey for a couple of months now. I just couldn't come up with an idea on how to do it. Your idea is perfect. You know how Chloe is; she'll want to celebrate the anniversary of the day you two met AND the day you proposed. You'll only have to remember one date and can combine the celebrations into one."

Beca sat thinking for a moment.

"That's quite a convoluted explanation on why we should do it," Beca said. "But, it also makes some sense." She inhaled through her nose and exhaled. "Fine. We can propose together."

Stacie squealed and grabbed Beca in a hug. "Thank you!"

~ BeChloe Week 2022 - Day 6 ~

Saturday morning, Beca woke and reached for Chloe, only to feel cool sheets beneath her hands. She sat up and looked around before climbing out of bed and going in search of her girlfriend.

Beca heard singing coming from the kitchen and smiled as she walked in to see Chloe placing two plates on the counter. The food smelled amazing, and Beca let out a small, throaty moan at the aroma.

Chloe spun around and yelped when she heard Beca moan.

"What are you doing up?" Chloe asked. "I wanted to surprise you with an anniversary breakfast."

"I'm sorry," Beca said. "I woke up and reached for you, but you weren't there, so I came looking for you."

Beca pulled Chloe to her and kissed her. "Happy Anniversary!"

"Happy Anniversary," Chloe said, leaning in for another kiss. She stepped back and threw up her arms. "Surprise!"

"You're such a nerd," Beca said, pulling Chloe back to her for another kiss. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Chloe said. "Now sit so we can eat before it gets cold."

"Yes, ma'am," Beca said, moving to take a seat at the counter.

"Did you just ma'am me?" Chloe asked with a teasing grin.

"Sorry," Beca said, smirking. "I did it out of respect. You know, since you are older than I am."

Chloe gave Beca a squinty-eyed glare.

"Just eat your breakfast."

"It all looks delicious," Beca said as she picked up her fork and started eating. "Mmm, this is delicious."

"Um, yeah, thanks," Chloe said, somewhat distracted.

"Everything okay, babe?" Beca asked, placing her hand on top of Chloe's.

"Everything's fine," Chloe said, moving her hand away from Beca. "Would you like some coffee?"

"That's okay," Beca said, standing. "I can get it."

Beca walked behind Chloe and went to the coffee pot. She grabbed a cup from the cupboard and poured coffee into it. She picked the cup up and turned to go back to her seat; she immediately dropped the cup. It crashed to the ground, and coffee was spilled across the floor.

Chloe stayed where she was as Beca looked down at her.

"Chloe? What are you doing?"

"Beca," Chloe said and cleared her throat. "I love you. I can't think of anyone I'd rather be with than you. And I know I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"

Beca gingerly stepped over the broken cup and spilled coffee. When she was in front of Chloe, she reached down, placed her hands on Chloe's face, and bent down to connect their lips.

The kiss was quick, and Beca was mumbling, "Yes!" as she pulled back from the kiss.

Chloe squealed and jumped up, pulling Beca into a hug. "I love you so much!"

"I love you, too," Beca said. "I guess Stacie's on her own tonight."

"What?" Chloe said, pulling back to look at Beca.

"Stacie and I were going to propose to you and Aubrey tonight at the Starbucks where we all met."

"You were?" Chloe asked.

"Yep," Beca said. "I should call Stacie and let her know."

"That won't be necessary," Chloe said, grinning. "I think by now she already knows."

At Beca's perplexed look, Chloe chuckled and said, "Aubrey and I planned to propose to you guys this morning."

Beca's phone rang.

"That's probably Stacie calling to tell you the news," Chloe said.

Beca put her phone on speaker and answered the call. "Um, I know," was how Beca answered the call. "Congratulations!"

"Congratulations to you two as well," Stacie said.

"Congratulations, Chloe," Aubrey said as well. "You, too, Beca."

"Thanks," Beca said.

"Ooo," Chloe said. "Double proposal, double wedding?"

"NO!" Beca and Stacie yelled simultaneously as Chloe and Aubrey laughed.

"I told you they wouldn't go for it," Aubrey said.

"We have plenty of time to discuss it," Chloe said.

"I'm going to hang up now," Beca said. "So, I can show my fiance how much I love her."

There was no teasing comment from Stacie, and Beca looked at her phone to see if the call was still going. Her eyes widened, and she tossed the phone to Chloe when heavy breathing and kissing noises sounded through the speaker.

"Ew," Beca said. "I so did not need to hear that."

Chloe laughed at Beca as she pressed the end call button. She set the phone on the counter and walked over to Beca; she wrapped her arms around Beca's shoulders.

"I thought we were going upstairs so you could show me how much you love me," Chloe whispered in Beca's ear.

Beca shivered and grabbed Chloe's hand, pulling her out of the kitchen. Chloe giggled as she let Beca lead her upstairs.

Later that evening, Beca and Stacie decided to stick to their plan. They both dropped to one knee in front of their loves in the middle of the empty twenty-four-hour Starbucks and asked the question they had both been asked that morning.

Two yeses were squealed out simultaneously. Beca and Stacie jumped up and grabbed their respective fiances and kissed them. The kisses quickly became heated, and they only pulled apart when they heard one of the baristas clear their throat.

"Ma'ams, this is Starbucks."
