Hey guys, I'm back with a new chapter. By the way, I've also uploaded this on ao3 under the same name because a lot of people use that site.
Disclaimer: I do not own My Hero Academia and any of its characters, these belong solely to Kohei Horikoshi.
The Midoriya siblings were spending their weekend with their mother, Midoriya Inko, inside a shopping mall. Or more specifically, they were inside a playroom whilst their mother was shopping around in different stores. Suddenly, Izuku asked his smiling twin a question he'd kept to himself for quite some time, "Nee-san, what is going on between you and Kacchan? Do you like him?" He knew that addressing her with respect and giving her the puppy-eyed look would force her to answer his question.
Emiko stared at her twin; she knew he was trying his best to coerce an answer out of her. She sighed and the nature of her smile slowly changed into that of a shy one. "You guessed right, 'Zuku. Both of us really, really like each other. We've also promised to only love each other and sealed the promise with… with a k-kiss!", she'd begun to terribly blush and covered her face with her hands by the time she finished replying.
Izuku froze after listening to her. He couldn't process what she just said. His sister was in love! But they'd just turned five years old. How could they be sure that their love would last until they grew old? And shouldn't his sister consult him first before making such a huge promise to somebody like Kacchan? Not that Kacchan was a bad friend but Izuku knew that the blonde kid tolerated him only because of his sister. He knew that Kacchan would only join the bullies if his sister wasn't present to protect him. He couldn't stand against somebody like Kacchan, he was too weak! What if Kacchan bullied his sister or broke her heart in the future? How could he stand against him? What if-
His internal monologue was interrupted by a warm hug from his twin. Unbeknown to him, his sister had heard his mutterings and was worried he'd have a mental breakdown. "Don't worry, 'Zuku!", Emiko happily chirped. "I know it's actually a little stupid to say that we'll always love each other forever when we're just five but I believe in us. Also, Kacchan will never admit it but he really likes you! I'm not lying. I don't know if he'd bully you if I didn't exist but that doesn't matter because I'm here and I'm not going anywhere. We'll both teach him a lesson if he does bully us in the future when we manifest our quirks, okay. There's no way anybody can bully the future All Might. Right?", mentioning All Might always made her brother extremely happy. Izuku snapped out of his reverie and excitedly nodded at her words. They spent the rest of the time with Izuku blabbering about All Might and Emiko carefully listening to her brother with a huge smile on her face.
Emiko was really happy. Today was a really good day since she had two good things happen to her. The first was revealing her new bond with 'Suki-chan (though she didn't tell 'Zuku about the new nickname, it was something that would remain between the two lovebirds) to 'Zuku. She didn't like hiding things from 'Zuku because they'd always had a very close connection ever since they were born. She'd heard it was common amongst twins but she always felt that the connection she shared with 'Zuku was special and irreplaceable. Now that 'Zuku knew about her and Kacchan, he could help cover up her lies and excuses. The other reason was that her mother had finally acquiesced to her demands and had bought the new jewellery box she had been aiming for. She'd marked the day she had confessed to 'Suki-chan in her calendar and wanted to make a bracelet with their initials in it for their approaching anniversary.
Usually, Emiko didn't do something this girlish but love had truly changed her. Sure, the two fought regularly (not fighting would've been impossible with 'Suki-chan's explosive personality) but they also made up as soon as possible, and they always made up with a short kiss. Emiko knew that half of the fights they had was because 'Suki-chan wanted to kiss her whenever they made up. She felt bad about it because she was usually too shy to kiss him. That's why this bracelet was so important! She wanted to prove to 'Suki-chan that she loved him even if she didn't kiss him too much.
Emiko was lost in her thoughts and didn't realise when she'd left her mother's hand. Her mother was advising her twin about his All Might obsession and also didn't realise that her daughter was no longer holding her hand. Emiko was rudely awakened from her daydreams when she felt a strong arm grab her waist and lift her. The kidnapper held a knife against her throat with his other hand. The adult snickered and whispered cruelly so that only Emiko could hear his words, "Scream little child and beg for your mother to save your pathetic little life. I'll make loads of money if you do so."
Emiko froze and wondered if she should follow the kidnapper's advice when she saw some passer-by pointing in her direction which also grabbed her mother's attention. Inko screamed and begged for the kidnapper to release her child whilst holding Izuku who was trying his best to escape from his mother's clutches and somehow help his sister. As Inko was distracted by her daughter's safety, she didn't pay attention to a woman who was standing beside her and who had quickly stolen her purse. Before Inko realised what had just happened, she heard a male's painful cry followed by a female's agonising screech.
The spectators were all shocked at the scene that had trespassed. The young girl that had been kidnapped had kicked her kidnapper where the 'sun doesn't shine'. The kick must've been brutal since the kidnapper dropped her and his knife which she picked up only to stab the purse-snatcher in her lower leg which made the latter lose her balance and allowed the young girl to reclaim her mother's purse. The purse-snatcher was apparently with the kidnapper as his cry caused her to worriedly glance in their direction which successfully distracted her. By the time the heroes arrived, the villains had been tied up by the public and the Midoriya trio had secretly escaped the scenario to avoid all the media and attention.
Inko cast a worried glance at her daughter and asked her if the latter was alright to which the latter answered positively. Izuku was in awe of his sister, she'd ensured that the family didn't lose a single cent and most importantly had faced off against the villains on her own. "I'm really glad that you're not hurt and are completely ok. But please don't do anything rash next time, alright. You're lucky they didn't use their quirks", Inko reprimanded her daughter. Emiko sombrely nodded and cast her mother a big smile that eased some of the tension in the atmosphere. But even Emiko's smile couldn't completely erase her mother's worries, the latter could see how the experience had exhausted her daughter.
As soon as the twins were asleep, Inko immediately called her husband and the Midoriya patriarch, Midoriya Hisashi who was overseas and informed him of whatever happened. "I can no longer take care of the two of them, Hisashi, especially not with my job. I'm afraid one of them will have to stay with you since I don't want a repeat of today's incident. I thought I was going to lose Emi-chan today", she sobbed into the phone unaware of the presence quietly eavesdropping on their conversation.
Author's notes: I'm sorry but I had to separate the two, even though it breaks my heart to do so. Their separation is essential to the plot. But don't worry, we'll see their cute moments in some flashbacks (I think, I haven't written this story down yet). Well, I'll see y'all soon!
