Season 1: Episode 10

Violet yawned as she woke up to yet another day, glad it was a Saturday and she could avoid another day at school, missing Clem and wondering about her death. She headed for the kitchen to find breakfast for the day but then stopped as she noticed something.

'What the, how did mom miss that...speaking of, where is mom?' She wondered.

She soon got the answer to her questions, for there was a note on the kitchen table from her mother explaining that she had been called into work early. Happy to at least know that, she approached the letter that had been posted. She checked it and her eyes widened, it was addressed to her of all people.

She narrowed her eyes. 'Who is...who even sends letters these days. What's going on here, why would they send it to me?'

Shaking her head as she walked back to the kitchen table. Knowing there was no other way to satiate her curiosity Violet opened the envelope and found the letter inside and she pulled it out and read it.

"Violet Adlon." It read. "I know you are seeking answers about the strange events surrounding the death of Clementine Hutchison. There are clues to the truth at the Old Miller Farm, if you are willing to check it out."

Violet swallowed, eyes wide, unable to believe what she was reading. But there was no clue as to who sent this letter or exactly what she would find. It was then her phone indicated a message and picked it up, Becca had posted to the girls group chat.

"Holy shit guys, I just got a weird letter in the mail, something about finding clues about Clem at Old Miller Farm."

Violet froze for a moment, long enough for Sarah and Brody to reply and express shock, as they had received letters too. She quickly typed her own reply, confirming that they all had received the same letter. It was suspicious enough that they knew right then and there, they were going to meet up and discuss things.

So it was, not even half an hour later, a fully dressed Violet reached the usual meeting spot for the girls, they were all there waiting for her. Knowing that going to the farm would involve some issues they'd rather avoid, they'd all opted for jeans, with Brody and Sarah avoiding their usual skirts, Becca abandoning her shorts.

"So...just the four of us?" Violet noticed.

Brody nodded. "It looks like it, weird. Who could have sent that?"

"Who sends letters at all in this day and age?" Becca interjected. "Regardless, we need to figure out what we're doing."

Sarah nodded slowly. "Yeah, I mean, this is really shifty, should we…?"

Violet shook her head. "If it really does have clues about Clementine...then we should go, we're desperate and we need answers."

"But if it's dangerous-" Sarah worried.

"We'll be careful, watch each other's backs, okay?" Becca said reassuringly.

Sarah still seemed hesitant but seeing all the others were determined, she agreed too and so they readied themselves. It would be a bit of a walk as the Old Miller Farm was a distance away from town.

"Why Old Miller Farm though?" Brody wondered. "That place has been abandoned for years."

Violet shook her head. "Who knows...But if there is anything there, then we need to find it."

The other girls agreed and remained quiet as they made their way to the farm.

The girls looked around as they stood before the run down farm, they didn't expect anything to be out in the open or obvious, but they still were wary as a result of the strangeness of the letter and the unknown nature of what could possibly be going on here.

"So how do we do this, there's a lot of ground to cover?" Becca queried.

Sarah shuddered. "No Becca, don't, don't even suggest splitting up."

"I wasn't going to."

Brody smiled lightly. "Good, because we're not going to, we'll start with the main house I guess."

Violet nodded slowly, eyes narrowed, not trusting herself to speak at this moment. Walking towards the main house, which could be easily entered as the front door was open, the girls entered and looked around the musty and run down old farm house.

"Whoa, this place literally just fell apart huh?" Becca remarked.

Brody nodded. "Yeah, the owners just left one day, they sold the land and went elsewhere, can't remember where. The person who bought the land never came here or did anything with it, just leaving it like this."

"Who does something like that, why?" Becca scoffed.

"Tax reasons maybe." Sarah mused.

Violet shook her head. "Even so guys, we need to keep looking, any clues for anything relating to Clem, or the investigation into her death."

The others nodded and soon resumed their search, moving through the farm house. To try and cut down the search time while not splitting up for their own safety, they did separate, but never more than a room apart, still within earshot to each other, even if they couldn't see each other. But the farm house itself gave no signs or clues.

Frustrated they stepped out and looked around.

Then Violet saw it. "There, the barn, it's the next most likely place."

The girls nodded and they headed for the barn, they managed to get the doors open and step inside, it was a typical abandoned barn but nothing was immediately obvious.

"Let's check the upper level first?" Sarah offered in a whisper.

The others nodded and they began making their way up the ladder and into the hay loft. They had barely made it up there when they heard it, a footstep, outside, then another and another, getting closer.

"What the-?" Becca whispered.

Brody hissed. "Hide."

They did so, ducking behind hay bales and peeked out, watching as a shadowy figure stepped into the barn. They paused and looked around, they couldn't see any features, but it was clear whoever this was, was actually looking for someone and they had a nasty suspicion that it was them they was looking for. They began to stalk around the barn, searching most likely hiding places. They didn't seem to think of looking up in the hay loft just yet.

"What do we do?" Sarah asked quietly. "That...whoever that is, they've gotta be looking for us. But we can't get out, they're blocking the door. Even if we get down, they'll see us."

"Shhh." Violet hissed. "We'll figure this out, there's gotta be another way."

"How about this?" Becca asked quickly.

She drew their attention to another doorway, up on their level. It wouldn't be easy as it'd still be a bit of a drop if there was no ladder, but it was their only way out.

So they slipped out, praying that the figure was still searching the lower level. To their relief there was a ladder and they quickly made their way down and ran as fast as they could to get away. Looking over their shoulders they were relieved to see that the figure was not following them, most likely hadn't heard them.

"Okay, what the fuck guys?" Becca gasped for breath as they finally stopped, some distance away from the farm. "What was that?"

Violet glared angrily. "A fucking trap, that's what it was."

The others froze when they heard that and realized, Violet was right. It made sense now, somehow that figure knew where they lived, had sent them the letters to lure them to the farm, most likely for its secluded nature, for whatever reason, most likely none of it good.

"What do we do?" Sarah asked at last.

Brody shook her head. "I don't know, should we...should we go to the police, I mean this was basically an attempt of some creep to do something and his intentions were clearly far from good."

The others girls agreed and so they began making their way back towards town, ready to go and report directly to the police station.
