Chapter 4: Overcoming Mountains

Literally! That's right, this chapter will be for Mount Moon and Cerulean City. See while I could easily make Mt. Moon its own chapter, I don't know how well I would do in making the upcoming gym battle on its on chapter. Therefore it would be rather beneficial to merge the chapters, then next the next chapter will focus on the school of Hard Knocks along with Bulbasaur plus extra stuff. (Okay correction, change of plans. This won't be how it is now, because as you will see, a LOT happened in this chapter. If I put the Cerulean gym too… this could be close to fifteen thousand words (currently at 11680 words).

Also let's address this now, the character's ages. Ash, Lillie, Leaf and Serena are all ten. Misty is thirteen. Brock is fifteen. Jessie and James are twenty. Now let's address what a 'harem' is. In no uncertain terms, it more-or-less means several women being thirsty (for lack of a better term) for a singular man. Now that in enough of itself is some sexual fetish. So pray do tell… why the hell would I make a story with a 'harem' about CHILDREN? That's my point. A polyamorous relationship is different from a harem.

So let's say Ash was in a three piece relationship alongside Serena and Lillie. The difference between the two situations is that a polyamorous relationship is a consensual three part relationship where they are all in fair attraction to one another. A harem would be if both Lillie and Serena are obsessed over Ash, with implied sexual connotations. So if the three of them were to be together in this story, it would be polyamorous and completely family friendly. There is an age rating to this story and I intend to keep it a 'T' rating (Obviously in reference to teens) and not an 'M' rating. However regardless, I still need to decide things for myself.

But I need to reiterate this, do NOT attack other people in the reviews, do not P.M. them with malicious intent or tell them that they're not welcome. I want to build a nice following of people with this story and sequel seasons (for each region, and a couple extra ideas I have). I appreciate that not everyone will agree with my opinions or views (as long as no one is being disrespectful btw) and that's fine. So please do give opinions and please just be respectful. Thank You.

Oh and I now realise something. I'm dumb, I kept saying 'Harrison' last chapter, when it is actually 'Forrest' as the oldest of Brock's siblings. This chapter will remedy this (even though it's fairly short). Plus due to some things pointed out, I will be altering part of my original plans for this chapter. I'll explain at the end, as to not spoil anything of course.

Anyways without further ado, let's begin Chapter Four, or our fifth entry, 'Overcoming Mountains'! (Oh and a late note to add… there will be something disturbing in this episode, and is somewhat useful for the plot later on. I won't reveal the name yet. I'll do it at the end, and then yous could look what it looks like up yourself in your own time if you wish to)

We now return where we left off, still in the city of stone. Brock has just asked Ash and Serena if they wouldn't mind him tagging along with them.

Glancing at her friend, Serena answers "That should be fine, we just have to tell our other friends Misty and Lillie is all"

Brock thanks them both and then walks over to his several siblings. All nine of them to be exact. He speaks to each of them (Forrest ((Not Harrison)), Salvador, Yolanda, Tommy, Cindy, Suzie, Timmy and the twins Tilly and Billy). As you would expect, this takes a fair bit of time. However the children do seem to be interested in Flint.

Before they leave the gym, Brock addresses Flint with a stern look "Don't bail on them again. You may be my dad but I won't hesitate to handle you myself if you abandon those children ever again"

Understanding where his son is coming from perfectly, Flint tells him "I won't I promise. Plus while you're gone, I can handle this gym. I still have my rock type Pokémon. My Rhyhorn will do perfectly to help teach younger trainers" he tells him with a smile.

At the mention of the ground type, Serena becomes uneasy. However, Ash seems excited.

The boy interrupts and asks "Can I see your Rhyhorn please? Plus it'd be great for my Pokédex collection"

Smiling warmly, Flint takes out a Pokéball and tosses it to the ground. Out comes a rhinoceros-like Pokémon with a body covered in grey, rocky plates. Its underside and rear appear smooth, and it has four short legs with two claws on each foot. It has a triangular head with narrow, red eyes, two fangs protruding from its upper jaw, small, triangular openings on the upper sides, and a short horn on the tip of its snout. A spiked ridge runs along its back.

Grinning, Ash scans Rhyhorn, as Dexter says "Rhyhorn, the Spikes Pokémon, a ground and rock type. Rhyhorn runs in a straight line, smashing everything in its path. It is not bothered even if it rushes headlong into a block of steel. However they may feel some pain from the collision the next day"

A look of almost contempt crosses Serena's face. Not from believing Rhyhorn to be inferior and rubbish but considering she doesn't even bother to scan the Spikes Pokémon with her Pokédex says enough. She has history with the species and doesn't enjoy them all too much.

(Flashback, past tense, Serena's POV)

My Mum was over by her Rhyhorn again, riding around on it. She was a retired Rhyhorn racer who won several races and a few trophies.

She had got me to wear my own training outfit. A one-piece pink jumpsuit. It had a large pocket down the side of each of my thigh areas. I wore plain black trainers, and the jumpsuit was buttoned from my neck down the front of my torso. My hair had been tied back as to not allow it to get in my face. Or at least that was the plan.

At least I looked cute in it. Oh and how could I forget? It had a large pink heart on my right side of my stomach, which was partially overlaid by a much smaller red heart.

Mum is wearing her old track attire as well. Hers was a plain khaki, one-piece jumpsuit as well. Eh, it looked okay, I guess.

After Mum had finished what was probably her sixth lap (?), she had come over to me.

Smiling, she asked me "Do you want to try and ride Rhyhorn Sweetie?"

I thought about it for several moments and then smiled, and said "Yeah! Let's do it" as I pumped my right fist into the air as if I had accomplished something. Ah childhood innocence.

We both went over to the resting, spiked Pokémon. He greeted me warmly, once again, with a lick as I stroked his smooth head. Rhyhorn lets out a low squeal to express its excitement. I had grinned, happy to see that Rhyhorn seemed to have liked me. That had bolstered my confidence!

I had tried to climb onto Rhyhorn in my excitement. Now let me lay out the ground work for why this was dumb. I was fairly short for my age the time which was six. I had no experience with Pokémon riding or at least not personally. However because Mum seemed to have been able to do so; because Rhyhorn seemed to like and trust me; because I was naïve, I climbed onto an unsuspecting Pokémon.

Now as I previously had said, I was short at my age, about three foot, four inches (A/N: or 1.016 meters) while Rhyhorn was fairly big for the species, which I later learned, at about three foot nine inches (A/N: or 1.2192 meters). (A/N: Now allow me to remove the fact that I was searching the average height/ weight of children from my history -_-)

Needless to say, it didn't work out. Oh I managed to get onto Rhyhorn for sure! But as I got on him as I quickly climbed on him, I accidentally kicked him. Now usually Rhyhorn is docile and calm, however because he hadn't expected me to do that… Rhyhorn started to thrash around.

Which because I wasn't secured properly… I was thrown off of him onto the ground. Fairly hard. As you could imagine, I had started to cry as I was hurt. However, to the credit of my younger self, I did struggle back to my feet as I tried to help calm him down.

Mum had been trying to do so as well but to no avail. She told me to keep away from him as she rushed over to grab his Pokéball to return him for the time being at least.

I disobeyed Mum. I approached him cautiously despite an ache in my left shoulder from the awkward landing. Oh who am I kidding, any unexpected short fall is awkward. The ground type was still thrashing around and had his face aimed away from me. Even as I spoke, it was if he couldn't hear me. Foolishly or I should say, childishly I had approached Rhyhorn further.

As I laid my right hand against the side of him, in some attempt to calm him down, he sharply threw his body to the side, striking me down once again.

Still in a blind panic, Rhyhorn reared back and looked as if it would drop onto me.

However before that had happened, someone came running onto the field. Which might I add is typically a big no no when something dangerous like this happens unless you are properly able to stop the danger. I, of course, had neglected to follow that rule by running up to the 'Spikes' Pokémon. It was a young boy, probably about my age. Dark, raven-hair as he got in the way. Which was really stupid.

He could have been severely hurt or worse. He didn't seem to care and stood in front of me as he spoke to the ground type "Hey hey! Calm down Rhyhorn!" that voice!

It was that boy from the Pokémon summer camp. Professor Oak's camp for children with some interest in Pokémon.

However I had quickly seen that he wasn't deterring Rhyhorn by much. Thankfully Rhyhorn did get spooked as it saw something run over to him as he was dropping down. Which meant that he landed to the side instead of on me. Maybe that was the reason he had been speaking rather loudly towards Mum's Pokémon? Since he of course had to have been aware that he wouldn't have been

At this point a red beam came from behind me and struck Rhyhorn. It quickly absorbed him and sucked him away from me and that boy.

I had been extremely scared for not only myself but also that boy.

Mum had ran over to us. The boy sighed a heavy sigh of relief as he turned and offered me a hand. He started to say "Hey Serena, how are you…" but was cut off by my Mum.

She had said "Serena! Why didn't you get away from Rhyhorn like I told you to?" with panic in her eyes as she held the Pokéball in her hand.

Groaning hard as I tried to move my left arm but I struggled as my shoulder was in pain. I gripped it hard with my right arm as I winced from the ache and pain.

Immediately, the boy dropped to his knees and had questioned if I needed help to get up.

Almost if she had finally realised that there had been someone else there with us, she turned her attention to the boy. She narrowed her eyes and asked… well demanded "Who are you? This is private property"

I cut in and had answered before he could tell her "This is Ash, that boy who helped me out at the Pokémon Summer Camp when I was scared by the Pokémon, got lost then hurt my ankle. Remember? I told you about him. I got the handkerchief from him"

(End of Flashback, present day, no POV)

As she comes out of her memory, she sees Ash in front of her, asking if she's okay.

Snapping out of it, Serena with a look of anxiety on her face, responds "Uh" pauses for a moment, then continues "I'm fine Ash, could we leave now please?"

A look of concern crosses his face as he considers the situation quickly. The only thing he can think of which could explain her sudden change in demeanour would be… the mentioning of Rhyhorn. He thinks to himself 'Of course! It's the Rhyhorn topic. I remember now. She's still shaken up by what happened all those years ago clearly'

Brock chimes in, adding "I just need to go back to my house and collect some supplies and make sure everything is okay for when I leave with yous"

Grateful to get away from the aforementioned topic, Serena tells him "That will be fine, I am sure that the rest of us can keep ourselves preoccupied until then" she says with a half-smile to the sort-of-former gym leader.

As they all leave the building, Brock leaves with his many… many family members to head back to their house for the time being. They had agreed to meet up at the exit of town in say two hours.

Before Ash and Serena can talk about the girl's situation, they are interrupted. Lillie and Misty come running over to the duo.

Lillie asks with a hopeful gaze, "So how did both of your battles go?"

Now much happier, Serena tells her "Yep we both did!" as she takes out her badge case, opening it to present her Boulder badge. Then continues "I beat Brock last night in a one-on-one battle. Bulbasaur had a great showing against his Geodude"

Misty responds "That's good to hear. Many people like to underestimate Brock, as traditionally he is the first gym leader that many trainers will face. However I have it on good knowledge that in recent times he has stepped up his game" as she realises that that may have been too much unnecessary information, considering her secret.

Serena catches something as she thinks 'That seemed like very specific information. I never told her if the battle was easy or not. So why would she have commented about him having improved in recent times? It seems like too much was said while technically saying nothing of importance either'

Lillie, after congratulating Serena, asks "Would it be okay if I hold it please?" as she refers to both the badge case and the badge itself.

Serena, smiling says "Sure! Anything for you Lillie" as she passes over her shiny new blue case.

Taking it, Lillie inspects the outer casing as she sees the red and white Pokéball on the lid of the case. She says "That's rather cute" then looks on the inside of the casing. A black foam sits on the bottom of the casing as it holds seven empty slots. But of course the more notable feature is the grey looking diamond badge in the upper most left slot. Then says "Looks like a greyish-diamond"

Ash jumps in to add "Hey I won as well girls. I did face Brock last night in one-on-one against Onix but lost. Then I faced him again this morning in a two-on-two battle. This time I used Pikachu and Butterfree and won the battle" as he pulls out his own badge case, forgetting what Serena had done the evening before.

Immediately Misty and Lillie as they turn to him, start to giggle hysterically as they gaze upon his case colouring. Ash is confused for a few moments, until he remembers the colour of his badge case. Pink.

He blushes from embarrassment as he remarks "Hey, I decided to try out a new style of 'fashion' for myself. Does it suit me?" he asks with a grin.

This only makes them laugh more as Misty inquires "What happened? Didn't they have enough of the blue, black, gold, silver or plain ones?" as she grins in amusement.

Ash's eyes widen as he asks "There were colours other than blue and pink?" as he looks at her in shock.

Before much more can be said, a yell comes from behind the group. They turn and see a young boy in some strange outfit. Ash looks even more confused, seeing some samurai outfit being worn by a child.

The boy yells at Misty and Serena, saying "You two! You took my Pokéballs without permission!"

This almost makes Ash and Lillie fall over at the surprise accusation. They stared at their two friends in further shock. Like Serena is supposed to be this perfect, angel-like figure who never does anything wrong. Wouldn't even dare hurt a Caterpie, unless it involved capturing it. She, while not as pacifist as Lillie, was very much against either hurting someone or stealing.

However they don't know Misty too well. Is this what she usually would do? Is she going to be a bad influence over their closest friend? Is this kid lying or something?

Ash, angrily fights back saying "My friend Serena would never steal from someone! Especially not intentionally" as he balls his hands into fists.

Serena cuts in, revealing "Actually" then stops for several seconds, before continuing "We did take some Pokéballs from him Ash" with a low, almost silent voice.

Her eyes downcast as Ash turns to her astounded. He quickly asks "What do you mean? Why would you have done that?" his focus is fully on his oldest friend as he doesn't even bother to turn his attention to Misty.

Misty begins to say "Because, there was several of…" and is cut off.

Ash tells her "I was asking Serena"

Meekly, Serena says "There was just so many of them that I just assumed that either he wouldn't notice or wouldn't mind. I realise now… that I shouldn't have done that. I acted in the moment"

The 'Samurai' narrows his eyes as he mulls this information over in his head. He considers 'While true, I have large collection of balls for Pokémon, I'd usually not just give 'em out like that. Usually they need beat me'

Ash then says to the female "Well why didn't you just ask? If he was okay with it, you could have had them no problem. But you took them" however before he can say much more, another interruption comes.

The bug trainer, having come to a reasonable decision, tells them "If you," as he points to Serena, "And you" pointing to Misty "can defeat me in a double battle at the entrance to this city, then I will grant you the ownership of those balls. If I win, I take the balls back and you must give up your journey as a trainer of Pokémon" he tells them sternly with determination.

This offer takes all four of them aback, as they consider the options.

Serena is the first to speak "I accept. I will use one as will Misty. You can then use two Pokémon at once. Ash, why don't you go and heal your Pokémon and check for any injuries?" as concern washes over her face.

Lillie and Misty are caught off guard, injuries? What did that mean?

Lillie goes over to the raven-haired boy and questions "What injuries? Did something happen?"

Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, Ash comments "Well kinda. A scaffolding collapsed during the battle, I saved Serena and did get hit but only barely. Nothing" as he is once again cut off.

Lillie grabs him by his left wrist, Pikachu on his right shoulder, and marches the trainer off to the Pokémon Center to get him checked out.

Misty then turning to the other two, says "I agree as well"

As they walk over to the entrance of the city.

Standing off the side of the main path, they take opposite sides of a small open field. Misty and Serena taking one side while of course the bug catcher… I mean Samurai Kid takes the other.

The boy tells them "I will send out both of my Pokémon first! Let's go, Paras and Pinsir!" as he sends out both of the bug types that he had used against Serena in their brief encounter before.

Misty takes out one of her own Pokéballs as she calls out "Let's take him down a peg, go Staryu!" as a star-like Pokémon emerges from the ball. Serena intrigued, watches the new form. Staryu is a golden-brown, starfish-like Pokémon with five appendages. These appendages surround a golden casing with a red gem in the centre which seems connected in place by a golden ring looped around its lower left point.

The honey-blonde female pulls out her Pokédex to scan. Dexter tells her "Staryu, the Star Shape Pokémon, a water type. Staryu's centre section has an organ called the core that shines bright red. If you go to a beach toward the end of summer, the glowing cores of these Pokémon look like stars in the sky. Even if its body is torn, it can regenerate as long as the glowing central core remains intact"

Serena thinks to herself 'What a beautiful Pokémon, I would love to have one of them myself eventually' The girl then sends out her Nidoran.

Nidoran and Staryu both stare down Paras and Pinsir. Well it seems like Staryu is staring down them anyway. The battle then begins.

Serena tells Nidoran to use Tackle on Paras, as Misty tells Staryu to use Water Gun on Pinsir. The poison type rushes forwards towards the fungal creature as the water type blasts off a stream of water at the insect.

The bug trainer tells Paras to dodge then block the stream of water. Paras deftly avoids the brute force attack then immediately jumps up to stop the water.

The speed of the bug type catches both trainers off guard. However then the kid orders Pinsir to use Vice Grip on Nidoran. Taking advantage of the poison type's fall to the ground, Pinsir grabs it by the sides. Then readies itself to use its horns on the smaller Pokémon.

Misty however tells Staryu to use Water Gun again. Once more, a burst of water is sent at the large bug. Once more also, the bug trainer tells Paras to block it. The same thing happens. Then Misty tells Staryu to use Rapid Spin while Paras is distracted. Now that the bug type is busy, the starfish-like Pokémon spins through the air and grazes Paras while also then slamming into Pinsir. This causes Pinsir to release Nidoran to the ground.

Due to the aforementioned graze, Paras was sent to the ground, Nidoran then is told to use Tackle. He complies and hits Paras from behind. However this has a knock-on effect. Nidoran seems to be slower and weaker now, as Paras seems to be taking damage over time. Paralysis and Poison respectively it would appear.

This concerns Serena as she knows now that Nidoran is weakened, this battle will be much harder. She thinks to herself 'Well, growing up it was always a battle as an underdog for me thanks to Damien. Would always belittle Lillie, Ash and I. Gary only on a few rare occasions would deal with him, mostly when he targeted Lillie or I though. But I know how to fight from underneath' as she smiles at this thought.

Serena tells Nidoran to retreat. As the poison pin Pokémon does so, Staryu is told to cover their retreat back to their side of the field. It had become obvious that Pinsir and Paras are much better as a team up close and personal instead of at a distance. Of course, they are both aware that Paras can attack at a distance but Pinsir would be better suited if they stayed up close to its opponents. Whereas Staryu is good at both, especially at a distance though.

Misty tells Staryu to use Water Gun once more. She expects the Paras to try and block again. The bug catcher doesn't give that command however. He suspected that she may be up to something, so allowed the water blast to hit his Pinsir head on. It does seem to have an effect, however a minor one at that. Rather he just shrugs it off as if the shot never connected at all.

Misty however smirks as Paras seems to be out of it. While the bug catcher had been focused on the Water Gun, the water trainer had also told her Pokémon to then immediately use Confuse Ray. It did connect on Paras. Taking advantage of the situation Serena whispers something to Misty.

She smiles and Misty gets Staryu to go flat so it is facing towards the sky. Then Serena tells Nidoran to hop onto the beach resident Pokémon. Nidoran does so and then Staryu is told to use Rapid Spin while using Water Gun as well. With that, like a Frisbee, Staryu and Nidoran are shot off towards the opposing duo.

The bug catcher tells Pinsir to use Protect. Suddenly a barrier forms around the insect-like Pokémon. However Paras is left wide open as the grass type is repeatedly struck by the water. Which meant that when Staryu and Nidoran struck Paras head-on, the bug type had no response. Jumping off of Staryu, Nidoran shows off by doing a flip into a slam onto Paras. This more or less knocks Paras out.

This is a cause for celebration for the two trainers. So much so that they are not paying enough attention as Pinsir grabs the water type after quickly lowering its Protect. Then the bug type slams Misty's Pokémon onto the ground. However doesn't let go as it then tosses the genderless Pokémon into a nearby tree, leaving a visible dent in the plant. Staryu was motionless and unable to continue. The whole beat down of Staryu lasted maybe only seven seconds.

Misty runs over to her Pokémon to check on them. Samurai Kid then returns his Pokémon as well. This leaves just Nidoran vs Pinsir now.

Serena mutters "I guess I did say that I always end up being the underdog in everything. Why would this be any different?" however she refocuses as she knows that she still has an uphill challenge in front of her.

Meanwhile with Ash and Lillie.

Lillie, having let go of Ash's arm by now, asks "So you got hurt protecting Serena then?" with a downwards glance as she anxiously awaits his response.

He casually responds "Yep. I had one of those fight or flight situations" as he sees her confused look on her face as she looks to him, he clarifies "Meaning a situation where I will instinctually either rush into things, a fight, or run away, a flight'

This makes more sense to the white-dressed female as she answers back "That makes sense. So what happened with Brock then?" she questions as she considers that the situation sounds rather serious. Which of course it does, while in an official gym, someone could have been severely hurt.

"He of course apologised, and intended on stopping the battle, however me and Serena convinced him to let it continue. It worked out and I won" he tells her with a light-hearted grin. He then remembers the other part, telling her "Oh and Brock asked if he could come along with the rest of us. Serena and I agreed as long as you and Misty were okay with the arrangements of course" as he looks expectantly towards her.

Not meeting his gaze, she responds "Sure that will be okay"

Then they hit the Pokémon Center. Metaphorically.

Ash hands over Pikachu and Butterfree to be healed as the boy then explains to the Nurse Joy what had happened at the gym.

Nurse Joy tells them "I do have a medical room in the back there, however I won't be able to help out as after the assault on Viridian City, we are all on high alert"

Ash then questions "Did you also hear about that Magmar attack last night then?"

Confused, the nurse asks "What Magmar attack? Was anyone hurt?"

This leads to confusion from Ash as well as he explains the situation of the night before as well. Joy responds that she hasn't heard anything at all. With that Lillie escorts him into the room. Approaching the boxes and draws which they had been told about, they find a large quantity of what they suspect they may need.

Nervously, the girl asks him to remove his signature jacket. This reveals his 'Subnoodle' top from the night before. Lillie is aware of the backstory with the whole Animal YouTuber Patterrz, panda stuff and that this was merchandise.

Quickly he rolls his short sleeves up, allowing Lillie to inspect his arms. She tells him "No damage, but fairly dirty Ash"

Ash then tells her "Well what about my back then?" as he immediately pulls off his strange top off, putting it to the side. This catches the timid girl off guard by a mile as she quickly blushes in embarrassment. He doesn't seem to notice. Dense and oblivious as always it seems.

Hesitantly, Lillie walks around to his behind and observes his back. She scans it warily as she sees marks across his back. Nothing too bad.

She tells him "It's not too bad. Just more temporary marks is all"

He thanks her as he stands up, ready to leave the room. No top and all.

Panicked, Lillie tells him that he forgot his shirt!

Lillie thinks to herself 'He is… cute I guess? But so is Serena. Does that just mean that I'm complimenting their appearances? Or is there something else here?'

Now back to Misty, Serena and the Samurai Kid.

Misty has now returned her Pokémon and has stood off to the side lines as she is a bit behind Serena currently as she watches the battle continue.

Narrowing her eyes, Serena thinks to herself 'Right, I know I said that I always play the role of an underdog, but this is a rather unfortunate situation. What chance do I have to win here? Maybe its karma for stealing from him?'

The battle now continues as the bug trainer tells Pinsir to rush forwards and use Tackle. As the beast storms towards Nidoran, Serena tells him to dodge. Nidoran tries his best to try and move but fails. Pinsir slams into the poison type, sending him flying off to the side of the field. However, does not crash into a tree like his teammate. Serena realises that that was the effect of the paralysis from before.

Narrowing her eyes, Serena tries to assess the situation from a different angle. How can she overcome this foe? 'What about if I can break Pinsir's line of sight?' she considers her options. She knows that Nidoran can learn Mud Slap… it should be a fairly easy move for him to use.

Pinsir is once again told to use Tackle on Nidoran. Instead of telling him to dodge, she tells him to wait. Then just as Pinsir is maybe a few meters ahead, tells Nidoran to use Mud Slap. Just as Nidoran throws dirt up into the air, it goes right into Pinsir's eyes, which disorientates the larger Pokémon. Then Nidoran jumps onto Pinsir, latching onto it.

She then has Nidoran use Double Kick, quickly the poison type kicks into the face of Pinsir. Once then twice! But then Pinsir instinctually grabs Nidoran by the leg after the second kick connected. Before the bug type can slam Nidoran to the ground, Serena tells him to use Bite. The poison type regains its composure and chomps down on the skinny right arm, causing it to yell out in pain. This leads to Nidoran being released from its grasp. Then Serena tells him to finish Pinsir off with a Horn Attack. Instantly the poison type slams its horn into the midsection of P… the body of Pinsir.

But Pinsir is still trying to get up, Serena tells Nidoran to use Slam once more. Having listened, Nidoran delivers the final blow and knocks the bug type out.

Serena and Misty are the winners. The bug catcher thanks his two Pokémon. As Serena is congratulating Nidoran, the kid walks over to the girls.

He tells them "Well done, on the victory of a hard fought style. While what you both did" he glares at them only momentarily "was wrong, much like myself; you are both children. So it's to be expected. Just don't do it again" and with that stern warning, he walks off back into Viridian Forest.

Serena returns Nidoran. They both grin as they high five one another and then go off to the Pokémon Center to heal their Pokémon and collect their friends of course.

As they walk into the Pokémon Center, they see Lillie and Ash coming out of the aforementioned medical room. Lillie has a deep blush covering both of her cheeks as she appears flustered. She has her eyes cast elsewhere away from her friend.

Serena eyes them suspiciously as she thinks to herself 'Did something happen between them?' as she questions this, a tinge of… something passes through her. Confused, she considers 'Did they have some sort of moment or other? Ash doesn't seem to be embarrassed or anything. But why do I feel… jealous, why would I be jealous? Do I like one of them or something?' she shakes her head as she tries to clear her mind of such emotions. Even if she did have feelings… 'Why am I questioning if I have feeling of either of them instead of theoretically being Ash specifically?'

Serena and Misty first approach Nurse Joy with their Pokéballs for Nidoran and Staryu respectively. The lady tells them that it won't take too long.

Serena and Lillie go off to one side to talk and sort some stuff out. Meanwhile Ash says that he would go out for a walk. On his own. Pikachu stays behind with Misty as she goes off to make sure she didn't leave anything behind in her room.

With Ash, he is walking around the small streets of the city, taking in the sights as he takes some time to consider what he intends to do with his small collection of Pokémon so far.

'I did say that I want to be the ~very best, there ever was~ so shouldn't I try and capture more Pokémon aside from just Pidgeotto and Butterfree? They are fairly… basic in terms of experience for a trainer. We are going to Mt. Moon, so maybe I capture a Geodude or Zubat? But even then… those are typical captures'

Then he sees a weird creature ahead of him (A/N: Oh of course this entitled child gets what he wants at the whim of a disembodied voice of a random fan of Pokémon and Patterrz apparently). A simian-like Pokémon. It is bipedal and has a round body covered in whitish, shaggy fur. Its nose is similar to a pig's snout, and it has narrow, red eyes and triangular ears with brown insides. Its three-fingered hands, two-toed feet, and the tip of its curved tail are brown.

Excited, Ash scans the Pokémon. Dexter tells him "Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon, a fighting type. When Mankey starts shaking and its nasal breathing turns rough, it's a sure sign that it is becoming angry. However, because it goes into a towering rage almost instantly, it is impossible for anyone to flee its wrath"

As he considers this, he makes an observation. He says "Oh shoot" as the fighting type rushes towards him in aggression. He turns tail and attempts to flee from the hyperactive Pokémon as he takes a few turns in some attempt to escape. Of course, as stated by the Pokédex, this is rather futile and won't result in much happening aside from him continuing to be chased by the ape (A/N: Oops I mean monkey ((This is meant as a joke to those who take this all seriously and may eventually criticise the existence of my wording, plus truth be told, this isn't a documentary, so no need to be one hundred percent scientifically accurate (((coming from the person who literally did research to determine if a voltage is stronger than the resistance of the…))) all of the time)) and I promise to never do it again).

As he runs through the city, he quickly realises that this real life version (Mankey) of the Animal creature monkey, wasn't going to budge in its pursuit of him.

Then the fighting type rushes forwards and leaps into the air, snatching his hat in the process. His rare, official Pokémon League, commemorative, super special and irreplaceable hat. Then the Mankey puts it on his head, rather awkwardly, and runs away.

Letting out an almost primitive growl, he yells "Hey! Give that back!" as he now pursues the fur covered Pokémon.

So back at the Pokémon Center. Lillie and Serena are talking together, sitting down in their assigned bedroom for a while.

Serena, interested, asks "So did something happen in the medical room?"

Not expecting this question, Lillie becomes nervous and shyly asks "Wh… what do you mean?" as he gaze remains evidently pointed away from her friend.

Casually, Serena points out "When Misty and I walked in, you both came out of the room and you had an intense blush. So I was wondering if something happened"

Both of the girls sit silent for say two full minutes, deep in their own thoughts.

Lillie is thinking 'Why did she have to see that? Should I just tell her that he straight up just took his shirt off in front of me? Then almost walked out of the room without putting it back on. I don't know'

Whereas Serena is questioning 'She's being very quiet, so does that mean something DID happen? Or am I looking too much into things. She's overly shy and Ash is too dense to think about anyone like that. So what the heck happened?'

Before any more of the conversation can happen, Misty comes banging on the door.

The water trainer tells them "Ash is having a bit of a situation right now. He is chasing after a Mankey that according to him 'stole his most prized hat', or something" as they open their door.

They both share of a look of panic as they know what Ash can get like in these situations. However, Serena decides to get a little bit more information on Mankey by using a link feature that Professor Oak had installed between the three of their Pokédexs.

The girls grabbed their belongings, then were able to get their respective Pokéballs from Nurse Joy, including Ash's Butterfree. Then they are off to try and find Ash and this wild Mankey.

They feel fear as they look for him. Not specifically for Ash… but for the fighting type. Having a clever idea, Serena sends out Ash's Butterfree to help look, from the sky, for his trainer.

While the bug type does so, the group hunt throughout the city. Well they do until they run into the local gym leader, Brock.

Raising an eyebrow, Brock asks Serena "What's going on here? Where's your friend Ash?"

Serena quickly responds "A wild Mankey stole his prized hat and he's apparently hunting the Pokémon down"

Brock asks "Do you want some help?" he offers with a smile.

Feeling grateful, Serena responds "That would be amazing please" then she realises her other friends. She then points to Lillie saying "This is Lillie, my bestest friend", then pointing to Misty continues "And this is Misty, even though we've only known one another for a short time, she seems like a great person"

Brock greets them both and remarks "Misty" as he holds his hand out to her, "Nice to see you again"

Misty accepts his hand in a friendly handshake, as she responds "It's good to see you again Brock" with a smile.

Serena is confused as she asks "You two know each other?" with a raised eyebrow.

Brock goes to answer but Misty explains quickly before he can "I tried to take the gym challenge a few years ago, I handled Brock but realised that it just wasn't for me. I decided instead to try and become a water Pokémon specialist and didn't bother continuing to challenge the gyms" despite this explanation, she seems nervous.

Brock shrugs his shoulders as he thinks to himself 'Why isn't she telling them the truth?' then turns to Lillie and extends his hand out to her also, saying "Hello I'm Brock" with a smile.

She looks at his hand for a moment, but doesn't make any move to return the favour. Shaking her head slightly, Lillie responds quietly "Sorry, I don't do that stuff with new people or strangers" as she turns her gaze to the floor.

Brock smiles as he returns his hand to his side as he tells her "That's fine Lillie. I am a stranger to you which is fair" thinking to himself 'She's nervous and looks like she would prefer to keep to herself. Hmm… that's okay, maybe she'll change given time. However it looks like she could be shyer than the average person. Is there something else with her?'

That's when Butterfree returns to them as it cries out to them. While the people are unable to understand, Pikachu does so just fine. Pikachu motions for them to follow him and Butterfree. With that they rush off going into Route 3 it would seem.

Meanwhile, Serena is taking glances at Lillie as she thinks 'That's right, she's extremely shy around new people and of course doesn't like any contact with Pokémon aside from Nebby. She is however amazing and the sweetest, most adorable girl I know' to which her cheeks blush a light red. Noticing this she thinks 'Why am I blushing now? Do I have a crush on her or something? But then why do I feel like this towards Ash as well? I'm so confused'

Far ahead, they eventually see Ash! He's trying his hardest to get the Mankey to give his hat back, but to no avail. Also he doesn't have his bag of course as Serena had brought it with her, since he was only supposed to 'go for a walk'.

The Mankey seeming to 'laugh' at Ash, then decides to be cheeky and runs off towards the nearby caves. Mt. Moon of course.

Seeing this, Brock tells the others "He doesn't know his way around the cave system. He's not going to do well if we don't catch up to him first!" as he along with the others pick up their pace.

Misty comments "Why does he need to be so reckless. It's just a hat, why does he need to do all of this?" as she sprints along, breathing heavy.

Serena tells her "It's an important and very rare hat. When Ash and I were younger we both entered a league tournament, the prize? That hat. We both made it to the finals and then I won, but decided to let him have it for everything he had done for me as a thank you"

(A/N: See now, I would give the flash back and details, however this is already a bloated episode, and will shatter the word count. So another time perhaps)

The group follow into the cave after they saw Ash do so. As they enter, they see… torches in the caves?

Brock, narrowing his eyes comments "Torches? Those aren't usually here in the caves. Someone else is here doing something. We need to find out what" he goes over to one to inspect it as he knows this isn't normal. He often frequents these caves when he gets some rare free time. Often to see if anyone needs help, make sure that the Pokémon are well off, often using special mixtures for their food. So he knows these weren't here a few days prior.

Just then as Lillie is walking along, a flying creature falls from the ceiling landing on her. She panics and screams.

Serena immediately gets it off of her as she gets a better look at it. While it doesn't seem to have eyes, it has pointed ears with purple insides and a mouth with two sharp teeth on each jaw. It has purple wing membranes supported by to, elongated fingers, and two long, thin, tails.

She scans it quickly as Brock tosses a Pokéball at it to get rid of it quickly. Dexter says "Zubat, the Bat Pokémon, a poison and flying type. Even though it has no eyes, it can sense obstacles using ultrasonic waves it emits from its mouth"

Brock's Pokéball shakes briefly then dings as a successful capture. He reaches down and picks it up, attaching it to his belt.

Serena comforts Lillie as they continue on into the remainder of the cave. So far it didn't seem like Lillie's scream attracted too much attention. However there seems to be distant rumblings in the cave. By now, Butterfree has been returned to their ball as they wouldn't be too good to see in the dark.

Misty asks "Where is that rumbling coming from?"

Brock comments "Ordinarily I would have said the Geodude and Graveler that live here in the cave system" then pauses as he motions around him continuing "however I don't think that is the case this time. Someone purposely put these torches here in the caves, and that rumbling sounds concentrated. I think someone is looking for something here"

Serena says "So what should we do? Find Ash and see who is causing this disturbance of sorts?" as they are now forced to go single file in the caves as it narrows.

Brock leads the way as Misty follows behind him. Serena is walking behind Lillie closely in the event something else happens like with the Zubat. Serena can see Lillie nervous as she walks.

Brock responds "More or less yes. We are lucky for the moment as this part of the cave is one way, same with the exit. However, the main bulk of the cave is rather large and easy to get lost or separated in" which meant he's implying for the others to stay close behind him.

Serena whispers to Lillie, "Hey don't worry, Ash will be fine, and I'm here. I won't let any of the Pokémon get close to you" as she lightly places her hand on the girl's left shoulder.

Lillie quietly thanks her in response. She feels at least a bit safer with her Serena around. A comforting thought at least.

After maybe ten minutes, they finally make it through the narrow passageway as they enter a larger cavernous room.

They can hear Ash's voice, which is great! However in Serena and Lillie's excitement, they go to approach the direction they assume the voice is coming from. This creates separation between the two girls and Misty and Brock.

Then a person approaches them from ahead. He has black spikey hair. He has a black baggy set of trousers on with boots on. The boots are mostly black except for the red lining at the top of them. He has a matching long-sleeved top on with similar red lining just above the elbows. Then the two most notable features are his red scarf that might be a small cape? And the big red 'R' on his top. Behind him are Jessie, James and Meowth!

Misty glares at them as she takes out two of her Pokéballs, saying "Team Rocket! Why are yous here?" she knows it can't be anything good.

Brock also states, "So these are Team Rocket members? Unimpressive. However" he stares directly at the main man, saying "Koga. The disgraced former Fuchsia City Gym Leader. Now just a member of a criminal organisation" as he too takes out a ball.

The man now called Koga dryly laughs as he says "That was a long time ago Brock. I'm here on my mission. These grunts" motioning towards the trio of bad guys "are my helpers of sorts. But I don't need to entertain yous any further" He tosses a Pokéball and out comes a floating gas ball.

It is a purple Pokémon, consisting of two spherical heads connected by a thin tube with another much smaller sphere in the centre. The heads are different sizes with differing features. The leaf head is much larger and has prominent eyebrows, pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw, and two flat teeth in its upper jaw. The smaller, right head simply has two pointed teeth, one at each corner of its mouth. The larger head has a cream-coloured skull-and-crossbones marking below its face, while the smaller head has a ring marking instead. It is covered in many bumps, seeming to expel gases.

Immediately Serena scans it as Dexter hurriedly says "Weezing, the Poison Gas Pokémon, the evolved form of Koffing, a poison type. Where two kinds of poison gases meet, two Koffings can fuse into a Weezing over many years. It grows by feeding on gases released by garbage. Though very rare, triplets have been found"

Koga then commands "Weezing, use Explosion!" as he walks away with Jessie and James in tow. However it should be noted, that James seems to have three Pokéballs on his waist now, instead of two. Perhaps a new capture?

The two groups don't have much time to react as the poison type seems to suck a tonne of air inside of its smaller head, this causes it to inflate, with the other one beginning to deflate. Seeming to signal a count down before disaster.

Due to this, Serena grabs Lillie and tries to sprint away. Brock and Misty try to do the same thing but are unable to get anywhere near the other two. The poison type ultimately explodes, causing a cave-in. Or at least a 'controlled' cave-in.

As the boulders come crashing down, it forces the friends to be even more separated than before! Lillie and Serena are still together with Pikachu, whereas Misty and Brock are trapped on the other side.

Now thankfully (and coincidentally), no one is hurt and both parties are able to continue. As Brock and Misty are trying to recover and stop their coughing from the dust and gases released by the cave-in and Pokémon respectively, they eventually see that the Weezing is up ahead.

As they make their way over to there and with it being their only way to go, they find… it dead. It had been about three minutes since the detonation. In that time they had been distracted, but they realise… the collapse of the ceiling nor did the explosion kill it. How could they be so certain?

Misty, wide eyed and even more terrified, questions in fear "What had the power to sever its separate body parts so cleanly?" as she shakes in horror.

Brock turns her away from the gruesome scene and tells her "A powerful Pokémon it would seem. Or an evil sadistic one at that" he takes a closer look, noticing the clear cuts made in its corpse. This wasn't from some small Pokémon, this was precision skill slicing.

Brock tells her worried, "We need to get back with Ash and the girls. And we need to be extremely careful. Something else is down here with us. Something very powerful and we're all in danger"

With that they both move on ahead, sticking very close together and not risking anything, with both of them keeping their respective Pokémon close at hand. But it would be unlikely that Onix, Geodude, Zubat, Staryu or Misty's other Pokémon could stand a chance against the monster down there.

An old experimentation. An attempt to mix different Pokémon genes together, in order to make the 'ultimate lifeform'. Taking the genes and attributes of multiple differing species, to create new beastly monsters. It would be hard to call them Pokémon… for it is just a decrepit monster, whose instincts were to hunt. To kill. It had been scientifically birthed a long time ago, but thrown away due to its evil, dangerous and uncontrollable thirst for hurting and killing others. It knew nothing of compassion, care or what it meant to be at peace. It was deadly.

The abhorrent beast… stands about eight foot tall (A/N: or about 243.84 cm), a sickly grey sheen to its bodies structure. It had two legs bent at the knees, where the lower half curves to the side down to its three claw-toed feet. At the top of the thighs are three protruding bone structures on each leg. Down the length of the legs below the knee are spikes on its sides. It has a long bony tail coming down from the beast's sternum. Oh good, it has four almost dead looking wings with a cream-colour to them with the same grey hue seemingly connecting these wings to its back… or shoulder? Along its back are a long row of jagged tall spikes that make up its spine? But those features aren't the defining traits, the horrible beast's most dangerous parts.

No instead of regular arms, it has a thin arm structure, that would look like it would lead to the elbow, and connected to that are extremely long, jagged scythes. Its short neck and top of its head have those similar spikes to the rest of its body. Its eyes glow a disturbing green shine from what would otherwise be empty eye sockets. It has sharpened, dangerous teeth with a reddened tongue hidden. The beast's last notable feature is the redness stained over its body, likely from its many hunts. The thing is a cold-blooded killer.

Lillie, shaken up by the explosion and cave-in is in a panicked state as she realises, she can't see around her. She repeats "Why did this happen?" over and over again.

Pikachu goes to approach her, in an attempt to comfort her, but Serena crouches down and tells him "I'll handle it Pikachu" the electric type nods and decides to look around the area, see if anything could be done.

Turning all of her attention to Lillie, Serena sits next to her and wraps an arm around her. Lillie tenses up at this, as she forcefully says "Whatever you are GO AWAY" well screams.

Serena tries to calm her down as she says "Hey hey, Lillie it will be fine. I'm here, its Serena, your best friend" as she looks worried for her friend. Lillie isn't a fan of darkened places and tight places.

Lillie, seeming to ignore her, says "I want to go home. Now. I don't like it here. Everything has been going wrong since I left Pallet Town" as she holds her head in her arms.

Feeling deep sorrow, Serena says "We will get out of here Lillie, we just need to find the others and then find an escape route. I won't let anything happen to you"

They then see Pikachu come running back towards them. He seems shaken up. They both pick up on this. This doesn't seem to help Lillie or her state one bit. And to be honest… it terrifies Serena.

Serena thinks to herself 'Why would Pikachu be so scared? Is there something else down here with us? And what's that smell?'

She turns to Lillie and says "Come on please? We need to escape this place and quickly" she says with concern and sternness in her voice.

Lillie notices this and asks "Is there something else happening Serena?"

Closing her eyes, Serena says "I'm not sure Lillie. But we need to find the others in case… there's something else down here"

While Serena can't see it, Lillie's eyes widen in further panic. She nods her head and slowly makes it to her feet, saying "Serena… do you think Team Rocket was the cause of the rumblings before?"

Trying to process everything, Serena doesn't stop to think and be considerate, saying "I think that maybe… the explosion may have unearthed something that could have been trapped a long time ago"

They begin walking, slowly and with Pikachu by their side. They are cautious and try to be quiet as they know… anything could be around the next turning.

Now with Ash and… the Mankey. He is within the caves listening to the patter of the fighting type's feet on the ground, along with his own. He feels cold as he only now realises… he left his bag at the Pewter City Pokémon Center. Then to make it much worse… he left Pikachu and Butterfree behind too! He only has Pidgeotto and a few spare Pokéballs on him.

As he seems to finally catch up to the Mankey, he realises that it stopped. Not thinking about why it stopped, Ash approaches it and retrieves his hat. He then says "Why did you steal my hat for Mankey?" then they hear an explosion from elsewhere in the cave, he believes the way he came into the cave.

Ash's eyes widen as he considers that… he is all alone in the cave now. He has no supplies, it's possible the others don't even know he is in Mt. Moon. Of course he had told Misty… but that didn't mean she knew he went into this cave. Plus even if they did correctly assume he did, it seems to be a massive cave system. He quickly comes to the conclusion… he may be screwed.

He turns his attention to focus on Mankey, who seems to be scared as well. He then says "Mankey, how about you and I work together to find a way out of"

He then is cut off as he hears the distant sounds of… growling? And heavy steps approaching. He grabs Mankey and forces the two of them into a nearby alcove, hoping it could be enough to hide them. They hide in there for maybe a minute and a half as they hear its steps very close now.

The two of them are silent. They are both in the belief that if they breathe, they're dead. If they move an inch, they're dead. If they even blink their eyes, they're dead. So appropriately, they are dead silent as it begins to walk past them. Ash at a short distance, especially with the minor boost of light from faint torches… sees its body seems to resemble a bony structure and frame.

Ash thinks to himself 'What in hell is that?' he doesn't even bother to try and scan it. Dexter would make too much noise and even if it was on mute, what if it could see the light of the Pokédex?

Despite its eyes flickering around the area… and that it is a born hunter… it seemed to be unable to smell too well. And the observation is true. Except… if there is blood.

The beast approaches the way Misty and Brock where. It found the Weezing, temporarily fainted, unconscious. Blood, just faintly escaped a minor mark on Weezing. This barbaric brute sliced and ripped into the Weezing, killing it instantly and leaves.

Which is how Misty and Brock found it.

Now that Ash feels like he could be safe, he realises Mankey doesn't want to move at all. Scared for his own safety and the primitive's safety… he takes an empty Pokéball and quickly presses it against Mankey. Almost immediately the small creature is engulfed. The ball rocks a few times and it dings.

Huge mistake. The beast comes back towards Ash's direction. However something else where seems to attract it, it refocuses its sights on the new objective. Whatever it could be. Ash breathes and almost silent sigh of relief as he feels only barely a little safer than before.

Whatever that thing was… it was dangerous and it hits Ash! He thinks to himself 'the smell of blood? That creature is… killing things. What if it got to the others?' he feels immense fear overtake him as he slowly makes his way towards where the demon-like entity went before he captured Mankey.

Brock and Misty are talking hushed. They are both terrified and know… they could die in this hellscape.

Deciding to lift the tension, Brock whispers casually "So why are you pretending to be a regular old trainer? You never did challenge me. Is it because of your"

She cuts him off saying "No need to mention them three Brock. This isn't the time nor place, plus that topic isn't something we need to be discussing"

Brock says "Fair enough", he grows serious as he asks "Do you think the others are 'okay' right now?" as he keeps his eyes trained for whatever unholy beast resides down here.

Whispering back, the girl says "I hope so. This situation is all wrong. Do you think Koga released the thing that ripped Weezing apart?"

He considers for a moment. Then says "No. He would have just started off with this plan instead of wasting time with Weezing"

She questions both curious and scared, "Do you think whatever it is… is a Pokémon? Or at least something like a Pokémon?"

Brock comments "Technically it is possible. But the closest recorded Pokémon we know which could have done that damage that cleanly are Scyther and Kabutops. I don't know about you… but I don't believe we would just encounter a Kabutops in modern day nor would a Scyther be down here of all places"

Then up ahead they spot a figure approaching, they are about to send a Pokémon each out but quickly realise that it's Ash. He runs over to them as he greets them.

Ash tells them "We need to get out of here. Now" as he stares sternly at them.

Misty sarcastically says "Ya think? We found a sliced apart Weezing from an ex-gym leader back there. There's been a cave-in"

Before she can continue, Ash's eyes widen as he asks "Where are Lillie and Serena?" starting to panic.

Brock tells him "They got separated by the cave-in after an explosion" then sees he has his hat back, commenting "At least you got your hat back. We just don't know what thing could be down here that's that powerful"

Ash tells them "It was a large beast of a creature, scythe-like arms, and seemed to be hunting. I had a strong smell of blood eradiating from it as it walked past me and Mankey" as he shows his Pokéball to them.

Brock tells the younger two "We need to find them both now, and we need to escape here. I think I know what that thing could be a result of… and we need to escape this place before it becomes our tomb" with that they rush off trying to find the other two.

Lillie and Serena are holding hands as they carefully traverse the small space of caving that they have. That's when they realise… something is ahead of them. An about eight foot tall behemoth of a freakish monster comes towards them.

Pikachu growls in a weak attempt to try and scare the beast… but they all know… there's no chance.

Feeling scared… Serena sends out both Ash's Butterfree and her own Bulbasaur, Weedle and Nidoran. They all come out of their respective balls in a flurry.

The thing stares them down… but doesn't look directly at them.

Serena doesn't wait for it to respond. She tells Pikachu to use Thunder Shock, Bulbasaur to use Razor Leaf and Butterfree to use Confusion. Pikachu lights the room up with a bright spark of electricity towards the monstrosity. At the same time, Bulbasaur forms leafs from its bulb and sends them soaring in the same direction. The bug type also distorts… tries to distort the beast's mind and for the group to try and gain some form of advantage. Nothing. It all connected with the fiend… but nothing. As it comes closer, they see that it… it is almost full skeletal.

Lillie lets out a loud scream which immediately attracts the attention of Misty, Brock and Ash. They ran off towards where they believe the scream to have come from. As they round several corners… they come… face-to-back with the beast. A long tail with protruding spikes.

They freeze as they see it. Serena and Lillie aren't aware that Ash and the others were there yet.

Ash asks Misty what Pokémon she has.

Misty responds with "Starmie, Staryu and Goldeen"

Ash tells them, we may need all of our currently available Pokémon if we want to stand even a small chance" as he takes Pidgeotto's Pokéball out as Misty and Brock send their own respective ones out too.

Of course, Brock has Zubat, Onix and Geodude. Misty's Pokémon however were all water types.

Starmie is a Pokémon that resembles two violet starfish with both having five appendages. The front starfish has a golden formation in the centre. In the centre of the golden casing is its red jewel core. The second starfish is semi-attached to the back of the first.

Goldeen is a white, fishlike Pokémon with orange markings. It has circular blue eyes with orange lids and prominent pink lips. On its forehead is a large horn. It has a small, wavy dorsal fin surrounded by an orange patch and long pectoral fins with orange markings at the bases. Goldeen's billowing tail fin is orange around the base and turns white toward the edges.

Misty tells her Pokémon to each use Water Gun on the creature. Staryu and Starmie both send bursts of water from their top appendage while Goldeen blasts from its mouth. All three connect at once. And again nothing.

As it goes to turn around, Brock orders Onix to use Slam and Geodude to use Roll Out. Onix moves quick to the monster and quickly slams down onto it, while Geodude gains momentum by rolling against the wall to then blast towards the beast. Both connect but again nothing.

This thing seems to be impervious to any damage. Getting frustrated, Ash asks Brock "Does Onix or Geodude know… something that could just outright drop rocks down on top of that demon-like thing?"

Brock considers this, as he responds "Officially no. But I have most of the tools to force a sliding of the rocks" as he grins.

By now Lillie and Serena realise that the others had arrived.

Serena tells Pikachu to once again hit a Thunder Shock, while this time having Butterfree use Gust alongside it. So first Butterfree flaps hard with its wings and instead of a Gust, it turns into a Whirl Wind, much more force behind it. Then Pikachu sends a charge of electricity zooming through and about the same rate as the wind current towards the beast. It ends up creating a sort of lightning burst at the experiment. This time, it seems to have an effect on it.

The unnatural being turns in anger now, charging towards the girls. Brock decides that he doesn't have a choice. But instead of the previous plan, changes it up. He tells Onix to use Dig directly under the beast, and to break the ground evenly. Onix does so as the horror lumbers towards the girls still. Butterfree and Pikachu continue the assault. Now Pidgeotto goes for Gust, while Staryu, Starmie and Goldeen again go for Water Gun. So on one side, the beast is hit by a lightning vortex, on another side it is hit by a torrent of sped up water, while underneath is a giant rock snake, burrowing around.

Onix pops up out eventually striking it from below the monstrosity. All of these attacks knock it off balance as it stumbles. Brock then tells Onix to use Slam once more. Onix raises up as its head causes some loose rocks from above to also fall and land on the beast's head and neck. Onix then full force drops all of its weight down which because of the weakened earth and now soaked ground underneath, them, it causes the giant to be sent tumbling down into the earth, several floors down.

The kids all collapse in exhaustion as they realise… it has been defeated. They… they did it!

Brock uses Onix to form a bridge of sorts across the now open crevice. Pikachu rushes across. Serena returns Nidoran, Weedle and Bulbasaur (A/N: why did I even have her send Nidoran and Weedle out?) as Lillie stays put. She's too scared to cross Onix at the moment.

Serena goes over to her and takes her hand in her own and says "Please? Let's get out of here"

Nervously, and seeing no other way around the current situation, Lillie relents and they both balance their way across the new ravine on a massive rock snake.

After getting across the gang are all reunited. Ash runs over and hugs both of them tightly as he asks "Are you both okay? Did anything happen while I was being stupid?"

Lillie feeling somewhat uncomfortable says "Could you give me some space please?"

Straight away Ash moves off of them. Serena takes a glance at her and smiles, then let's go of the other blonde's hand. Immediately they both feel a sense of… disappointment? A sense of emptiness perhaps.

Serena though answers Ash saying "Well now that whatever that creature was is gone, yep" as she feels exhaustion setting in.

Brock also returns Zubat, Geodude and Onix, while Misty returns Staryu, Starmie and Goldeen. Then Ash returns his Butterfree.

They move along through the cave, more cautious than they could have imagined before having entered Mt. Moon before today. It was a life threatening situation. But somehow they survived!

As they continue, they see a lit up opening to a room up ahead. They cautiously approach the room. They of course don't know if it could be Koga or Team Rocket here. But as they get close to the room, they see that there is nothing to worry about. Three sets of Pokémon walk around a massive rock in the centre of the room.

A small, pink Pokémon that is vaguely star-shaped in appearance. Its ears are completely brown. It has two small black eyes, a small mouth and it appears to have a small, permanent blush on its cheeks. It possesses stubby arms and legs, which have no defined digits and come to a point. It has a curl on its forehead and a curled up tail.

The second one is a bipedal pink Pokémon with a chubby, vaguely star-shaped body. A small pointed tooth protrudes from the upper left corner of its mouth. It has wrinkles beside its black, oval eyes, a single dark pink oval marking on each cheek, and large, pointed ears with brown tips. A tuft of fur curls over its forehead, much like its large, upward-curling tail. Each stocky arm has two small claws and a thumb on each hand and both feet have a single toenail. There is a pair of tiny, butterfly-shaped wings on its back.

The final one is a tall, pink Pokémon that also has a vaguely star-shaped body. It has long, pointed ears with darn brown tips and black, oval eyes with wrinkles on either side. A curled lock of fur hangs over its forehead, much like its long, tightly curled tail. On its back is a part of dark pink wings; each wing has three points. Its hand have three fingers each, and its feet have two clawed toes and dark pink soles.

They scan the trio of Pokémon

"Cleffa, the Star Shape Pokémon, a fairy type. It is often seen when shooting stars fill the night skies. It's said to arrive riding on a shooting star. They often seem to appear in places where meteorites have struck in the past"

"Clefairy, the Fairy Pokémon, the evolved form of Cleffa, a fairy type. It is said that happiness will come to those who see a gathering of Clefairy dancing under a full moon"

"Clefable, the Fairy Pokémon, the evolved form of Clefairy, a fairy type. With its acute hearing, it can pick up sounds from far away. It usually hides in quiet places. Rarely seen by people, it is said to be drawn by the full moon to play at deserted lakes"

One of the Clefable approaches Serena and presents her with an egg.

Confused, she accepts the egg and thanks the Fairy Pokémon.

They watch as the alien-like Pokémon dance around, seeming extremely happy.

They eventually leave to the exit of Mt. Moon.

Now see, if they knew the real reason that the Clefable had gifted her the egg… it would ruin the children.

You see, that monster, 'Marother', the beast from before, massacred many of the rare Pokémon. The blood on its scythes was a result of it brutally killing those innocent Pokémon. The explosion was technically the only reason it didn't kill any more of them.

But who exactly created that thing?

Koga walks up to the downed beast as he smiles, saying "Master Giovanni is going to want to have you back Marother. You're extremely vital" as he uses some darkened Pokéball… to return it to the ball. A dark ball if you will.

Jessie, James and Meowth look on in fear of the vile creature. What were they getting into?

And holy lord of the underworld! I did it. The chapter is finished, and ready to be uploaded today (Thursday, again lol). I know some of the chapter may have felt rushed, especially the whole Cleffa, Clefairy and Clefable scene, however you must understand, it was necessary. The egg will be important in order to help mature Lillie and Serena in the long term.

And yes you probably noticed hints littered throughout about the love triangle, polyamorous relationship stuff. That won't be so in your face all the time but it is nice to present it and take slow, natural and curious steps in building things. Especially until I can make decisions on that.

Then I did seem to get blessing to use some more of Mr. Patterrz's intellectual property and I will use some more, while still obviously crediting him. So that's a thank you Patterrz.

Now let me address the obvious thing. Marother. Yes it is a genetically altered Pokémon. A splicing of Marowak and Scyther to be exact. It is all leading to the eventual creation of Mewtwo and the obvious First movie and the other entity 'Mewtwo Returns' which is a movie but sometimes isn't recognised. And yes, let's address movie variations. I will be doing remakes of each of them unless I state otherwise. But also I will try and stay true to source materials while adding my own spin on things.

So thank you for reading. Remember please be respectful to others in the reviews as that's just common curtesy honestly. People will have differing opinions and that is perfectly fine, just PLEASE be nice to one another. Besides honesty is vital in helping authors improve their work and craft, it is constructive criticism. But no stupid stuff please and no anger please. Unless it's deserved and aimed at me. But hey the total word count for this chapter is 12656 words. Goodbye!
