Before we start, I just want to thank everyone for their advice on what to do regarding Chi-chi and Yamcha. In regards to those who felt I should split Yamcha and Chi-chi up or simply write them out of the story, while I think that is a valid and understandable opinion, I've ultimately decided I want to keep them in the story which is what I plan to do. As too what I shall call Yamcha and Chi-chi's child, I'm still deciding on that and it might be a while before I make a final decision. Nevertheless, thank you for your suggestions, they were greatly appreciated.
Please enjoy the chapter, I hope the wait was worth it.
Everyone was pretty shaken up by what had occurred. Goku tried to immediately follow Raditz by using the Flying Nimbus. Bulma was supportive of this because she wanted Goku to rescue their son. Master Roshi and Krillin convinced him this was a bad idea. After sitting down on the steps of Kame House, the group knew they needed to think carefully about their next move.
"I hope Gohan's alright," said Goku.
"I'm worried too Goku, but I think it's you he's interested in," said Bulma.
"We have to grab his tail," said Goku.
"His tail?" asked Bulma.
"That's his weakness. Remember when someone grabbed my tail. It hurt, I couldn't move," stated Goku.
"Yes, good thinking," said Master Roshi.
"What? That's crazy, he's not gonna just let you waltz up and grab his tail," stated Krillin.
"I know, which is why I'll need some help," said Goku.
This caused a bit of panic amongst the group. Master Roshi was the one who spoke up.
"Don't worry, Krillin and I are ready. We'll put that space pirate out of business."
"Well, if there's three of us, I guess it's possible. Possible, but not likely," said Krillin. "Hey, wait a second, if anything should happen to me, you'll wish me back with the Dragon Balls right?"
"You can count on me, I'll do it," said Bulma.
"Wait you guys," interrupted Goku. "It's no use. I'm sorry Krillin, you've already been brought back to life with the Dragon Balls once before, so has Master Roshi. So that's it, if either of you die again this time it's for keeps, the dragon won't grant the same wish more than once. I know, it's risky."
"Wow, that's a bummer," said Krillin.
"Yeah, you guys should just stay here," said Goku.
"And let you fight alone?" asked Master Roshi.
"Yeah, that'd be suicide," said Krillin. "You think we're just going to sit here while you go off and get killed?"
It was at this point that Bulma suggested that maybe they gather the Dragon Balls then ask the dragon to save the planet. On paper it was a good idea, but then Master Roshi pointed out that there was no way they'd be able to gather all the Dragon Balls in just one day.
"Well, I say we go right now and attack him head on," suggested Goku. "That's the one thing he'd never expect. It might give us an edge. And we need everything we can get."
"But how're we going to find him?" asked Master Roshi.
"I don't know I haven't figured that part out," said Goku. "We're just going to have to take off in the same direction as him and hopefully we'll sense him."
"That's not a bad idea and besides he's the strongest being on the planet, so he shouldn't be too hard to find," said Master Roshi.
"Alright then, I'm going to start searching," said Goku. "What do you say guys? You ready?"
"Yeah, you never know. We might just beat that idiot," said Krillin.
"Well, whatever happens, you two should know that you're the best pupils I've ever had," said Master Roshi.
They were about to leave when they were interrupted by an unknown voice.
"You'll never succeed, you're too weak."
They looked around to try and see who had said that. They looked to the sky to realise it had been none other than Piccolo. He flew down to talk to them.
"So, what do you want Piccolo?" asked Goku.
"I've been keeping an eye on your last visitor. I followed him here," stated Piccolo.
"Oh yeah, what do you know about him?" asked Goku.
"I know this much, the only chance we have of winning is by going together," said Piccolo. "I know we're enemy's but hear me out."
Piccolo explained how with the power Raditz had, they didn't stand a chance if they fought him alone. He then stated that if they teamed up there was a slight possibility that they could overpower him. Goku was hesitant at first because he didn't know if he could trust Piccolo. Piccolo admitted that his reasons for teaming up with Goku were purely selfish. He wanted Raditz out of the way so he could take over the Earth. As much as the thought sickened him, he was willing to put his differences with Goku aside until they defeated Raditz. Piccolo also promised that once the fight was over, their alliance was terminated. Goku knew it was risky but given the situation this was the best option they had, so he agreed to team up with Piccolo.
"Bulma, I'll get our son back, I promise," said Goku.
Goku hopped on the Flying Nimbus ready to take off.
"Hey Piccolo, think you'll be able to keep up with the Flying Nimbus?" asked Goku.
"Yeah right. Are you kidding? I'll be embarrassed if you can keep up with me on that silly little toy," said Piccolo.
Bulma approached her husband.
"Goku," she said.
"Yeah?"
"Be careful and bring our son back to us," pleaded Bulma.
Goku nodded and the two of them took off.
Meanwhile, Raditz had made his way back to his spaceship. He dropped the unconscious Gohan next to the truck of a deceased farmer he had recently killed. Raditz was hoping this would be enough of a bargaining chip to convince Goku to do what he wanted. But even if it wasn't he would just swat his brother away like the insect he was. As for Goku's son, Raditz would take it upon himself to teach Gohan how to be a Saiyan Warrior. None of this saving the world nonsense, he would help Gohan see the thrill of taking over planets. He was about to go find something to eat when he heard Gohan starting to stir.
"So, you're finally awake?" asked Raditz.
Gohan looked around in the hopes of seeing his parents, but neither of them were present.
"You bully, what did you do to my mum and dad?" asked Gohan.
"Your father's fine and he'll continue to be fine as long as he does what I say," said Raditz. "I can't say the same for your mother however. She'll be exterminated along with the rest of the people on this pathetic planet."
This infuriated Gohan. Forgetting the power gap between him and Raditz the young boy charged at him. Not in the mood to fight such a weaking, Raditz swatted Gohan away like a fly.
"Foolish boy you already tried that. What did you think you'd accomplish this time?" asked Raditz.
Regardless of how angry Gohan was he knew he couldn't win this fight. He felt the next best thing he could do would be to find his mother and keep her safe. He jumped into the sky and flew away.
"Hmm, not bad the kid can already fly," said Raditz.
Gohan flew as fast as he could. He thought he was in the clear when he looked behind him and saw that Raditz was out of sight. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. Gohan looked ahead to see that Raditz was now ahead of him. How had he been so fast?
"Did you really think you'd be able to get away with that pitiful flying speed?" asked Raditz.
Gohan said nothing but sped off in another direction. His efforts were useless. Every time he sped off in a different direction, Raditz would overtake him in just a few seconds.
"Why do you keep trying to run? I think you'd enjoy taking over planets," stated Raditz.
Gohan knew he had no other options. He would have to try fighting Raditz again. After what happened last time, Gohan knew that simply fighting Raditz was pointless. Although it had failed last time, Gohan knew he had to rely on his trump card. He put his hands to his side and started charging energy.
"Kame, hameā¦" Gohan was cut off as Raditz separated his arms and lifted him into the air.
"Did you really think I was going to let you charge that attack again?" asked Raditz. "And even if I did what good would it do? You tried that attack before, and it failed. Now why don't you just be a good boy and do as your told?"
"I'll never listen to you. You wanna hurt my mum and dad and destroy the earth. I have to stop you," said Gohan.
"Something tells me you're going to keep being a nuisance while you're still conscious," said Raditz.
He hit Gohan in the neck again forcing the boy to fall unconscious. Raditz flew the two back to his spaceship and locked Gohan inside the pod.
"There that should hopefully hold you for a little while," said Raditz.
Back with Goku and Piccolo they were souring through the sky as quickly as possible, trying to find any trace of Raditz's energy. Eventually, Goku sensed that same horrifying power he had sensed while at Kame House.
"Piccolo, I've found him," said Goku.
"Yeah, I sense him now to," said Piccolo.
"That must mean we're close. We should land soon, so we can sneak up on him," suggested Goku.
"Forget it, it's no good," stated Piccolo.
"What? But we'll have a much better chance of winning if we surprise him," said Goku.
"He's wearing a device that can detect our power levels. He can track our exact location," said Piccolo.
"What? You're saying he already knows we're on the way?" asked Goku.
"I'm saying its very likely," answered Piccolo.
"Alright, I guess that only leaves one choice. We attack him head on," said Goku.
Raditz had just enjoyed a fulfilling meal of fruit and local wildlife, completely unaware that Goku was coming to fight him. His scouter went off indicating someone was flying towards him.
"What?" A power level of six hundred and fifty? No, there's two. One's three hundred and twenty and the other is three hundred thirty. Kakarot has a power level of three hundred and thirty, but Kakarot wouldn't be coming here. He can't beat me, and he knows it, besides he has no idea where I am. This stupid thing must be broken, and I didn't even bring the manual."
Raditz was about to have a small rest when his scouter went off, indicating again that there were two power levels flying towards him.
"Kakarot is here. But how did he find me?" asked Raditz.
Raditz knew Goku didn't have a scouter, so in his mind there was no possible way he could've been able to find him.
Piccolo and Goku landed on the ground, ready to face off against Raditz.
"Well, well, well, look who's decided to drop in," said Raditz. "It's little brother. Oh, and he's brought the green man with him. I was wondering who that second insignificant blip on my scouter might be. I confess I didn't expect it to be you. What a pleasant surprise. I have to hand it to you brother I didn't think I'd see you till tomorrow, you are a little more resourceful than I thought. And more foolish as well."
"We'll see about that," said Goku.
"Fair enough, so what brings you here Kakarot, do tell?" asked Raditz.
"I'm here to get my son back, where is he?" demanded Goku.
"I was afraid you'd say that. You are testing my patience Kakarot. I've been more then generous with you so far, now for the last time I strongly recommend that you join us," said Raditz.
"I don't care what you recommend, the answer is still no," said Goku.
"You should listen to your big brother," said Raditz.
"As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a brother," said Goku.
"Alright then," said Raditz. "You can have it your way Kakarot. I didn't come here to kill you, but it seems you have left me no choice. It's too bad little brother, I do think you would've found the life of a Saiyan to be quite invigorating."
"Alright, I've heard enough talk," said Piccolo who threw off his cape. It landed with a rather hard thud, indicating that it was far heavier than it appeared.
"Huh, Piccolo, I had no idea you trained with weighted clothing to," stated Goku.
"What? Thought you were the only one?" asked Piccolo, throwing off his turban, which was also shown to be weighted. "Oh yeah, I feel much lighter now."
According to Raditz's scouter, Piccolo's power level had gone up to four hundred.
Goku followed suit by removing his own weighted clothes, which included his undershirt, boots and wrist bands. Raditz's scouter showed that Goku's power level had also grown. Despite their increase in power Raditz just laughed.
"Do you two really think that's going to make a difference?" asked Raditz. "Fools, who do you think I am? A few weights aren't going to affect the outcome of this fight. I'm still ten times stronger than you are."
"That may be true, but strength isn't the only thing that matters," said Goku. "Not when you can outsmart your opponent."
"You really don't have a clue do you brother? You know what? I think I've decided I don't want you to join us anymore. A fool like you would only slow us down," stated Raditz. "YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO ALL SAIYAN'S, NOW PREPARE TO DIE."
Raditz charged at them so quickly, that Goku and Piccolo didn't even have time to react before Raditz managed to elbow them in the back. The attack sent Goku and Piccolo flying, but they managed to quickly recover.
"Well, I'll give you this, you know how to take a punch. Good, that should only make this all the more enjoyable," said Raditz. "Let's find out how much pain you can really stand."
"That's it, I don't care how strong he is, I'm not gonna stand here and listen to this. I would prefer to die," grunted Piccolo.
"Don't you worry about it green man we'll get to that in due time," said Raditz.
"Hey, don't get ahead of yourself. You haven't beaten us yet," stated Goku.
"Trust me Kakarot, I know an easy win when I see one, I'm a Saiyan," said Raditz. "It's what I do."
"Come on Goku let's finish this guy. We'll charge him together," said Piccolo.
"Wait, not yet. Not until he tells us what he's done with Gohan," said Goku. "Now where is he? Where have you hidden him?"
"He's locked inside my space pod behind you," said Raditz.
Goku and Piccolo looked behind them to see the massive crater in the ground. Goku ran over to the crater and flew into the air to have a better look. Through the pod's circular pink window, he saw his still unconscious son lying inside.
"Be strong Gohan, I'll be down to help you in a minute, just hold on," said Goku.
"You'll be down alright, but you won't be helping anyone," laughed Raditz. "You should say your goodbyes though you won't get another chance."
Goku returned to the ground and took a fighting stance.
"I won't lose," said Goku.
"Alright let's do this," said Piccolo taking his own stance.
Goku and Piccolo charged at Raditz. They threw a multitude of attacks, but Raditz was able to either dodge or block them with ease. Just to make the fight with them more humiliating Raditz occasionally fought back, landing vicious hits on both Goku and Piccolo. One of the duo's attacks made Raditz dodge by flying into the air. Goku and Piccolo followed, but this was just what Raditz wanted. He shot two separate energy beams directly at Goku and Piccolo. Goku managed to dodge the one aimed at him. Piccolo wasn't so lucky. The blast destroyed Piccolo's left arm.
Goku landed on the ground and looked to the sky. Raditz was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did he go?" asked Goku.
"Right here," said Raditz suddenly appearing behind Goku.
Raditz kicked Goku sending him flying and hitting the ground with a hard thud. Both Goku and Piccolo had a hard time recovering.
"What's the matter with you two? You could at least try to make better sports of it than this. You don't want me to get bord do you?" asked Raditz.
Goku got to his feet and wiped some blood from his chin.
"Piccolo are you alright?" he asked. He was shocked to see Piccolo had lost his arm.
"Don't worry about it, it's not as bad as it looks," said Piccolo. "I'm not out of this fight yet."
Things were looking grim.
"Come on now, surely that pathetic excuse for an attack wasn't the best you could do?" asked Raditz.
Piccolo and Goku decided to take some time to talk strategy.
"Ok Goku, if you have any new techniques you've been waiting to use now's the time," said Piccolo.
"Sorry, I wish I did," laughed Goku.
"Heh, you slacker, while you've been taking it easy, I've been developing a new attack," said Piccolo.
"Do you think this attack of yours has enough power to do some damage?" asked Goku.
"Yes!"
"And you can do it with only one arm?" asked Goku.
"Yeah, that's no problem. The problem is it takes me a while to gather the energy for it," said Piccolo. "So, you'll have to last against him alone for five minutes."
"Alright, if you're sure it'll work, I'll hold him off," said Goku.
"Well, the truth is it's untested. I've never tried it against an opponent," stated Piccolo. "I was hoping to save it for a special occasion, it's the attack I planned to use to defeat you."
"I see and now you're using it to help me. You must be terribly disappointed," stated Goku.
"No, this'll be a good test and if it works, I'll be using it on you next," said Piccolo.
"I guess I'll be sure to watch out the next time we meet, but for now wish me luck," said Goku.
"Alright, do your best Goku," said Piccolo.
Goku charged at Raditz alone, while Piccolo started charging the attack that would hopefully be powerful enough to defeat him. Piccolo started his attack by putting his top to fingers to his forehead and focusing his energy into the tips of his fingers.
Goku did his best to hold of Raditz, but by fighting alone his efforts were even more futile. Raditz easily countered every attack Goku threw, and it wasn't long before Raditz fought back and dominated his brother. Before long, Raditz sent Goku flying with a powerful kick. Upon landing, instead of flying back towards Raditz, Goku jumped into the air and started charging an attack.
"Kame, hame," said Goku.
"What? It's like what his kid did before, he's making his power skyrocket by focusing all his energy into one spot," said Raditz. "Nine Hundred. Nine Hundred and Fifty."
What surprised Raditz most however, was that Goku's power wasn't as great as Gohan's had been when he charged the same attack at Kame House. Was Goku's son somehow already stronger than him? Raditz's attention was quickly diverted when his scouter indicated another skyrocketing power level from Piccolo.
"His power level has gone up as well, it's over a thousand. And it's still going up," stated Raditz.
Raditz wasn't the only one who had noticed this. Inside the space pod, the surge in energy jolted Gohan awake. It didn't take him long to figure out that his father was currently fighting Raditz outside. This made Gohan determined to escape. But what could he do? He didn't know how to unlock the door on the pod, and he wasn't sure if he had enough energy to blast his way out. This made Gohan feel hopeless. Hopeless and angry. Even more angry than he'd felt when his parents had been attacked.
Outside, Goku was about to launch his attack at Raditz when he sensed a surge of power coming from the crater. Raditz's scouter had also picked up this surge, making him fear that there were now three strong powers he had to worry about. An explosion came from the crater and out jumped an enraged Gohan, eager to assist his father in battle.
"No, my pod," exclaimed Raditz, but that was the least of his problems. His scouter was indicating that Gohan's power was increasing at an accelerated rate. Raditz couldn't believe what it was saying. It defined all logic.
"His power Level is higher than mine. How is that possible?" asked Raditz.
Gohan wasn't going to hold back. He was going to attack Raditz with everything he had
"Kame, hame," said Gohan charging the beam.
"No, I won't be able to stop that," said Raditz horrified.
He was about to fly off when he remembered there was another attack he needed to worry about
"HA," yelled Goku shooting the beam of energy.
Raditz stood his ground getting ready to cancel the attack. Normally this would've been easy, but just as Goku's attack had made contact with Raditz's hands he heard another yell.
"HA," yelled Gohan launching his own attack.
The more powerful beam coming from the opposite direction forced Raditz to avert his attention. He was forced to fend off Goku's attack with one hand, while blocking Gohan's with the other. While he managed to keep the beams at bay, he was unable to cancel them out due to his focus being split. Raditz's grip was starting to fall, he didn't know how much longer he'd be able to defend against the attacks. This felt like the end. Raditz knew the moment these beams made contact with his body he'd be done for. What he didn't realise was that his end would come even sooner then he thought. Raditz's scouter started beeping again forcing him to focus some of his attention on Piccolo.
"No, I forgot about the green man. Power Level thirteen hundred and thirty? If that hits me, I'm done for," said Raditz.
"It's over! This will finish you," said Piccolo smiling evilly before pointing his fingers at Raditz and yelling, "SPECIAL BEAM CANNON."
A large beam with a smaller beam circling it shot from Piccolo's fingers and started flying towards Raditz.
Raditz tried to get out of the way, but with all his focus already on blocking the attacks from Gohan and Goku he found himself unable to move. Raditz was unable to do anything except scream in terror until Piccolo's attack made contact. The beam shot right through Raditz, leaving a gaping hole in his chest. The force of the attack had pushed Raditz away from the Kamahameha's which caused a huge explosion when they collided. Raditz fell to the ground defeated and dying. The battle was over, the earthlings had won.
I know, I know, this chapter still relied heavily on dialogue taken straight from the anime, but I'm hoping to write more original dialogue in future chapters, where I'll start making more and more changes to the established cannon. Nevertheless I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Please let me know what you think all feedback is greatly appreciated, especially if it helps me improve the story.
