If you do a Buu saga as well could you pair Gohan with Lime or Erasa?)
I think it's best to see if I can get to the Buu Saga before I decide that. But I'll keep it in consideration for now and I'll see what happens if and when I get there. Thank you for the suggesstion.
Gohan and Goku spent the next few hours flying as fast as they could to reach the end of Snake Way. Unfortunately, both soon started to tire. Being younger and less experienced Gohan was the first to give out. He landed on the path gasping for breath. Seeing that his son had landed, Goku headed back to check on him.
"Gohan are you ok?" asked Goku landing in front of his son.
"Yeah, but I don't think I have enough energy to fly anymore," panted Gohan.
"If I'm honest I don't think I'll be able to go much further myself," stated Goku.
"Now what do we do?" asked Gohan.
"I guess we're going to have to run it," said Goku.
"Man, that'll take forever," said Gohan.
Goku had another look at Snake Way. They'd lost sight of the start, but they saw nothing to indicate they were anywhere near the end. Goku had another idea.
"What if we tried jumping? That'd be much quicker," suggested Goku.
Gohan took one look at Snake Way and frowned.
"I don't know Dad, this path isn't exactly straight, one misstep and we could fall. And don't forget what King Yemma said would happen if we fell of Snake Way," stated Gohan.
"Goop point, maybe it's not worth risking it," stated Goku.
"We'll just have to stick with what you suggested and get to the end on foot," said Gohan.
"I guess, I just wish there was a quicker way for us to get there so we could get in as much training as possible," said Goku.
"Maybe this could count as training," said Gohan.
"How do you mean?" asked Goku.
"Didn't you once tell me that you got stronger just from climbing Korin's Tower?" asked Gohan.
"Yeah, but only because it took me a few days to get to the top," stated Goku.
"Well, it'll likely take us months to get to the end of Snake Way on foot. Maybe the same principle will apply," suggested Gohan.
Goku thought about this for a second. Despite his lack of common sense Goku could see that Gohan made a good point.
"How is it you're already way smarter than me?" asked Goku.
"Don't forget Dad, I'm Mum's son as well," said Gohan.
"Ha, good point," laughed Goku scratching his head. "And we both know your mother's way smarter than I am."
They both had a laugh at this before preparing for the long journey ahead.
"Race you Gohan," said Goku taking off.
"Hey, no fair you got a head start," stated Gohan following his father.
Back on Earth, the greatest warriors were starting to get together to train for this upcoming threat. Their ally Yajirobi had already stopped by Kame House to tell Krillin that Korrin wanted to see them, to give them special training. Yajirobi then tasked Krillin with recruiting Earth's remaining warriors. These included Yamcha, Tien and Chaiotzu. Yamcha was the first one Krillin went to find, who was in the middle of a Baseball Game, who's winner would determine which team won the pennant. By the time Krillin got there he found both teams in the middle of a brawl. Thankfully, Krillin was able to easily make his way to Yamcha and let him know there was something he needed to tell him. They went outside where they could talk in private and meet up with Bulma.
"So, you're saying that Goku's an alien and more of his kind will be here in one year to destroy the earth?" asked Yamcha.
"Yeah, and he and his son have already gone off somewhere to get stronger," stated Krillin.
"Goku has a son?" asked Yamcha.
"Yup his name's Gohan," said Bulma, showing Yamcha a photo of the three of them. "As soon as they heard about this threat, they wasted no time taking off to start training."
"Good to know Goku's already on top of things," said Yamcha.
"That's why I'm here. Yajirobi told me that Korrin wants us to undertake special training," said Krillin.
"For real?" asked Yamcha.
"Yeah, but we need to go find Tien and Chaiotzu first," stated Krillin.
"Then let's go, we can't keep Korrin waiting," exclaimed an excited Yamcha.
"OH, NO YOU DON'T," yelled a voice.
Yamcha, Krillin and Bulma turned to see Chi-Chi coming towards them. She was followed by her father the Ox King who was happily carrying two young sleeping children.
"Uh, guys you remember Chi-Chi, right?" asked Yamcha nervously.
"Yeah, how you doing?" asked Krillin.
"Never mind that now," stated Chi-Chi. "Yamcha, do you really think I'm going to let you go off and train after all the progress you've made as a baseball player?"
"Chi-Chi the season's over and the guys might need my help," argued Yamcha.
"The season may be over, but how are we supposed to make any money if you aren't around to do public appearances?" asked Chi-Chi.
"Well," said Yamcha who was at a loss for words.
"Chi-Chi, money shouldn't be an issue right now. I've got more than enough to support you," stated Ox King happily.
"Dad, we shouldn't have to rely on your treasure just to live. Yamcha promised me he would be a responsible and hardworking father who could provide a decent life for his children," said Chi-Chi.
This caused Krillin and Bulma to look at the children Ox King was carrying.
"Yamcha are they…?" asked Krillin.
"Don't changed the subject," interrupted Chi-Chi. "Yamcha is not going away to train. He is going to stay here and be a responsible husband. I'm actually glad I married him instead of Goku."
"What's that supposed to mean?" demanded Bulma angrily.
"I heard what you said. That Goku's already taken off to train instead of staying home to be a good husband. To make matters worse, I also heard that he's taken your son with him. How old is your son?" asked Chi-Chi.
"Four and a half," said Bulma.
"WHAT? AND YOU LET HIM JUST TAKE OFF TO DO DANGEROUS TRAINING?" yelled Chi-Chi. "WHAT KIND OF MOTHER ARE YOU. YOUR SON IS AT THE AGE WHERE HE SHOULD BE STUDYING."
"Don't tell me how to raise my child," stated Bulma angrily.
"Someone has to," said Chi-Chi.
"Chi-Chi not so loud, you'll wake the kids," said Ox King.
"Stay out of this dad," demanded Chi-Chi.
"How can I worry about my son studying if there may not be a planet to study on?" argued Bulma.
"Let Goku worry about that," stated Chi-Chi.
"But what if Goku isn't enough?" interrupted Yamcha.
"What do you mean?" asked Chi-Chi calming down.
"Krillin told me that Goku and Piccolo were barely able to defeat the first Saiyan that came when they were working together," stated Yamcha. "Unless we all work together, the whole world might be destroyed."
"I guess but…"
"Also, you said I need to be a responsible father and husband. Doesn't that include being strong enough to defend you and our kids?" asked Yamcha. "If I don't become strong enough to help fight these invaders, there may not be a world for our kids to grow up on."
"Let him go honey, he just wants to help protect you and the kids," said Ox King.
Chi-Chi knew she had lost this fight.
"Alright, just promise me you'll be careful," pleaded Chi-Chi.
"I will Chi-Chi. After this is over, I promise you I'll come home," said Yamcha.
Yamcha and Krillin hopped in Yamcha's car and took off towards Korrin Tower.
"I'm sure he'll be fine honey. Don't forget, Yamcha is one of the strongest fighters on the planet, so I'm sure he'll be able to get through this," said Ox King.
"I guess you're right. Anyway, we'd better get home so we can put Naicha and Miruku to bed," stated Chi-Chi, taking one of the kids of her father.
"Wait Chi-Chi aren't you going to introduce us?" asked Bulma.
"Yeah alright," said Chi-Chi presenting the child in her arms. "This is my daughter Miruku."
"And this is her twin brother Naicha," said Ox King, presenting the other child.
"Yamcha and I were blessed with them two years ago," said Chi-Chi.
"Chi-Chi they're adorable," said Bulma admiring the children.
"I know and that's why I didn't want Yamcha to go train. I want him to be there while they grow up," said Chi-Chi.
"And he will be, he'll only be gone for a year," stated Bulma.
"But what if it's longer than that?" asked Chi-Chi. "What if during the battle he…" Chi-Chi couldn't finish that sentence.
"Chi-Chi you don't have to worry about that. Even if Yamcha doesn't survive the battle we can always wish him back with the Dragon Balls," stated Chi-Chi.
"I guess you're right," said Chi-Chi smiling.
"Of course she's right, everything will be fine," said Ox King.
Yamcha and Krillin wasted no time locating Tien and Chaiotzu, who they found training in the mountains of a desert. After explaining what would happen, Tien and Chaiotzu quickly agreed to come train with them. Tien also took this as an opportunity to gain enough strength to surpass Goku. They quickly made their way to Korrin Tower and eventually headed to Kami's lookout where they also met up with Yajirobi. They began their training immediately.
At first, they all believed they were wasting their time, as they weren't learning anything they didn't already know and were just continuing training techniques they had been undertaking before they came to the lookout. When they complained about this to Kami, Mr Popo decided it would maybe be best to give them an idea about what they would be up against. But before he did so, he decided to give them some advice.
"To be truly strong, you must know yourself and your enemy. Once you know this all will become clear," stated Mr Popo.
"What do you mean?" asked Krillin. "Know myself."
After a brief argument with Yamcha, Mr Popo told them to follow him. Mr Popo took them to a strange room with a giant pendulum. According to Mr Popo, this was a place where past, present and future were mixed and that it was also where most of Goku's training took place while he was there. Using the magic of the room, Mr Popo sent everyone except Yajirobi to a far-off place exactly one hundred years in the past. While they were there, they found themselves on a planet that had been decimated by a large battle. At first, they thought they were in no danger, but they were in for a rude awakening. They encountered two Saiyan's who were even stronger than they could've imagined. Although the group fought valiantly, they were quickly defeated and killed. Despite this, they all woke up in the room where they started like nothing had happened. They found Mr Popo and Yajirobi exactly where they left them, and Kami had also joined. Mr Popo explained that their physical bodies had remained behind, but their spirits had created dream like bodies which had been sent to the past, which explained how they had managed to survive.
Despite having been defeated Kami stated that they all did very well. However, he also had some bad news to follow this.
"I should mention to you all that the Saiyan's on their way to Earth are twice as strong as the one's you just fought," stated Kami.
This shocked everyone. They'd been decimated by the Saiyan's they fought. How did they stand a chance against two that were twice as strong?
"Twice as strong? Are you sure about that Kami?" asked Yamcha.
Kami nodded.
Although Kami advised that there would be no shame in backing out, none of them wanted to do so. Their trip to the past had only made them more determined to prepare for the upcoming threat, even if it meant they had to spend every second of everyday traveling to the past to fight incredibly strong opponents. Both Kami and Mr Popo admired their determination.
Back in other world all Goku and Gohan could do was run as quickly as they could across Snake Way in the hopes of finding King Kai before the Saiyan's arrived. The journey seemed hopeless. No matter how fast and long they ran, the road didn't seem to end. They ran for months and months, while eating the clouds around Snake Way to survive. This was difficult for them as they both possessed enormous appetites that could only be fulfilled through real food. They had doubts about whether they would be able to survive off the clouds for much longer. One day, exhausted from running, Gohan collapsed. Hearing this, Goku stopped running.
"Gohan what's wrong?" asked Goku, running back.
"I just need a second to catch my breath," gasped Gohan.
"I understand. It feels like we've been running for eternity," said Goku looking towards the horizon. "How long do you think we've been running?"
"I don't know. I lost count ages ago," gasped Gohan.
After Gohan had caught his breath, they started running again. After another few days Goku started wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him. He could swear he saw the end. He stopped dead in his tracks.
"Dad what're you doing?" asked Gohan stopping.
"Gohan, please tell me you're seeing what I'm seeing?" asked Goku.
Gohan jumped up and hovered over his father's head.
"Dad is that?" asked Gohan hopefully.
"Yeah, I think we made it," said Goku happily.
With the end in sight, they sprinted. They were so excited that they accidentally overshot the end of the road and nearly fell into the clouds below. Thankfully, they managed to fly back up onto the path. They were a little disappointed by what they saw.
"Dad, there's nothing here," stated Gohan disappointed.
This couldn't be all there was. After nearly a year of running how could there be nothing. There had to be something to this they weren't seeing. Thankfully Goku figured out what it was when he looked to the sky. He saw what looked like a small green ball, that appeared to also have a small house and even a car.
"Gohan look," said Goku pointing.
Gohan looked to the sky.
"What's that?" he asked.
"I think it's a planet," said Goku.
"It can't be. It's tiny," stated Gohan.
"Well, I see nothing else around here, so I don't think we have any other options," said Goku.
"Good point," said Gohan.
"Might as well check it out. Besides they might have some food and after all these months of living on clouds, I'm starving," said Goku.
Goku and Gohan jumped and flew to the planet in the sky, hoping that this would be the home of the great King Kai.
"Not a bad place," said Goku. "Nice car."
"Mum's is better," stated Gohan.
Once they reached the planet's atmosphere something strange happened. They felt heavy. Really heavy. They were so heavy that they couldn't stop themselves from plummeting to the ground below. They both landed with great force. It was worse for Goku, because not only was he heavier then Gohan, but he was also wearing weighted cloths.
"Dad what's up with this place?" asked Gohan. "I can't stand."
"I don't know," said Goku, struggling to stand. "I just hope this is King Kai's place."
Thanks for reading. Please let me know what you think in the reviews, all feedback is greatly appreciated. You may have also noticed that I skipped over a lot of filler in this chapter, which is something I plan to do for the rest of the story, so I can focus on the main plot. But if there's a filler ark you think I should leave in, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
I would also like to thank Marly Mar, xSonallyGirl129x and Neotac for their suggestions on what to name the children of Yamcha and Chi-Chi. I liked all the suggestions so much that I took an idea from each. I gave them twins as suggested by Neotac. I named the boy Naicha as suggested by Marly Mar and I named the girl Miruku, as suggested by xSonallyGirl129x. Thank you so much for this, I really appreciate it. See you in the next chapter.
