(Guest
Will Gohan interact with yamcha's kids?)
He will eventually, I just haven't arrived at the right opportunity to do so. Don't worry though, I plan for both of Yamcha's kids to play a bigger role in future chapters.
Welcome back everyone, as you can see from the poll, it's unanimous that I skip ahead to where I've made changes to the cannon. Meaning that although I finished the last chapter with the death of Yamcha, I've skipped ahead to much later in the fight. Thank you to everyone for voting. I hope I don't disappoint.
Things weren't going well for Earth's special forces. True to his word, Krillin challenged the remaining four Saibamen alone, managing to destroy three of them. The last one was destroyed by Piccolo after it attempted a sneak attack. With the Saibamen destroyed, Nappa took it upon himself to fight them. The fight only went downhill from there. None of them had enough strength to match Nappa and they'd lost another two fighters. Chaiotzu sacrificed himself in an attempt to kill Nappa. Sadly, Nappa walked away without a scratch. Angered by the loss of his best friend, Tien put all his life energy into a single attack, hoping it would be enough to end Nappa. Again, the large Saiyan warrior walked away without a scratch.
Now only Krillin and Piccolo were left to fight. They started wondering if there was any point in continuing. Even if they did manage to defeat Nappa, they had a feeling that Vegeta was far stronger. Nevertheless, they were determined to hold off the Saiyan's until Goku and Gohan arrived, even if it meant dying in the process. Before long, Vegeta demanded to know who Goku was. Upon discovering that he was Raditz's brother and was believed to be strong enough to beat them both, Vegeta decided to put a halt to the fighting. He granted them three hours of waiting. What they did in that time was up to them.
Three hours passed. Goku and Gohan still hadn't arrived. With the wait period over, Vegeta granted Nappa permission to continue fighting.
"This is going to be a piece of cake," said Nappa, throwing of his armoured vest which was damaged from the fight. "Now, do you want to die one at a time or should I just kill the both of you?"
Unknown to Nappa, Krillin and Piccolo had one last trick they believed would allow them to achieve victory, but for this to work they would need to work together.
"Remember Krillin, I need you to charge at him. Don't get to close. I just need you to get his full attention," instructed Piccolo. "While he's distracted, I'll grab his tail, the weak point of the Saiyan's."
"Right," answered Krillin, eager to put their plan into action.
"Let's just hope they share this weakness," added Piccolo. "While he's weakened, attack him with everything you've got."
"Don't worry, I'll make that monster pay for what he's done," declared Krillin.
"What are you fools whispering about?" demanded Nappa approaching them.
"You'll find out soon enough," answered Piccolo.
"Well, don't keep me waiting too long, the suspense might kill me," joked Nappa. "It doesn't matter what you do, you're already dead."
"We'll see about that. Now, take this," declared Krillin.
The monk charged at Nappa with great speed. Nappa merely laughed at what he considered to be a foolish Earthling. Without warning, Krillin used a Kamehameha to blast himself into the air confusing Nappa in the process. Piccolo used this opportunity to sneak behind Nappa and grab his tail.
"What the?" asked Nappa.
"KRILLIN, NOW," yelled Piccolo.
"Right," said Krillin, putting his hands to the side. "Kame, hameā¦"
"Nice try, but that won't work on me," interjected Nappa, before elbowing Piccolo in the head.
The attack was so devastating that it knocked Piccolo unconscious.
"Oh, come now, don't die on me Namek. You still need to tell us where the Dragon Balls are," mocked Nappa.
"But how? Grabbing a Saiyan's tail renders them powerless," stated Krillin deactivating his attack.
"Was that your big plan?" laughed Vegeta. "That might've worked on Raditz, but Nappa and I have evolved far beyond that pathetic weakness."
"Which is great for us, but bad for you," laughed Nappa tossing Piccolo aside. "How pathetic. I knocked him out with one hit, and the scouter says he's the strongest fighter on this planet."
With Piccolo out of commission, Krillin was the only fighter left who had enough strength to defend the Earth.
"Well shorty, I guess you and I will have to play until he wakes up," declared Nappa.
Krillin was horrified as Nappa rocketed to the sky after him. Krillin narrowly avoided a punch from Nappa, before fleeing.
"What's wrong? Don't tell me you're running away?" mocked Nappa.
Using all his speed Krillin disappeared. Because Nappa couldn't sense energy, Krillin managed to catch him by surprise and landed a kick to Nappa's face. Angered by this, Nappa fought back. He wasn't going to let Krillin fool him like that again. While Nappa couldn't sense energy, he was much faster than Krillin and was going to make sure he followed every move he made. Nappa threw another powerful punch, but Krillin used his small stature and as much speed as he could muster to avoid the attack.
"What's wrong Nappa? Can't you hit a single bald midget?" mocked Vegeta.
Nappa was infuriated by Krillin making him look bad.
"He got lucky, but I'll get him this time," stated Nappa, before charging at Krillin.
"Well, I guess now's a good a time as any," said Krillin raising his arm to the sky. He charged a new technique that he had developed over the last year. Hopefully, it would be enough to split Nappa in two.
Focusing all his energy to his raised arm, Krillin generated a golden energy disk above his hand. Unknown to Nappa, this disk was able to seriously injure an opponent, even if the opponent was significantly stronger than the user. If this attack hit its mark, Nappa would be finished.
Confused by this technique, Nappa stopped charging.
"Here, catch," called Krillin. "DESTRUCTO DISK."
Krillin threw the disk at Nappa.
"So, you wanna play catch huh?" asked Nappa amused.
"NAPPA, DON'T TOUCH IT," yelled Vegeta who understood the purpose of the attack.
Heading Vegeta's warning Nappa jumped out of the way, evading the attack, but not before it left a nasty scratch on his face. The disk kept flying until it cut the top off a nearby mountain.
"Darn it, I was so close," exclaimed Krillin angrily.
"You scarred my face," stated Nappa enraged. "You're going to pay for that!"
Nappa threw an energy blast at Krillin who only narrowly managed to evade. While the attack hadn't hit, the resulting shockwave was so powerful that Krillin had to hold his arms up in defence. With Krillin distracted, Nappa knew this was his chance to end him.
"Say goodbye shrimp," declared Nappa.
The Saiyan was about to launch another attack, when out of nowhere an energy blast hit him. Nappa turned around to see that Piccolo had launched the attack. During this time, Krillin crashed to the ground.
"You Namekian trash, that was a cheap shot," yelled Nappa.
"Like you haven't pulled your fair share of cheap shots," retorted Piccolo.
Vegeta laughed at this.
"You know Nappa he makes a fair point."
Nappa however wasn't amused.
"You'll pay for that," declared Nappa.
"Bring it on," retorted Piccolo. "You caught me off guard before, but that won't happen again."
"You fool, I could've killed you anytime I wanted. The only reason why you're still alive is because we need you to tell us where the Dragon Balls are," stated Nappa. "Once you tell us, you'll be nothing more than a memory."
"I don't think so," said Piccolo. He was about to charge at Nappa when he felt an incredible power. "What is that? An enormous power is heading straight for us. Wait a minute, there's two of them."
Krillin felt this as well and he looked to the sky.
"It's Goku. And Gohan. They're back," exclaimed Krillin. "Give them hell guys. Make them pay for all the people they've killed.
"Nice try, but I'm not falling for that. You can't sense power levels unless you have a scouter," declared Nappa.
"That's where you're wrong," stated Piccolo. "Goku and his son are on their way here right now and judging by the power I'm sensing you Saiyan's are in for the fight of your lives."
"You're finished you big, stupid brute," added Krillin standing up.
"Yeah right, if he's coming this way then where is he?" demanded Nappa scanning the sky. "I don't see anything. You're a bunch of liars."
"Calm down Nappa," said Vegeta putting his scouter on. "I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. Besides, even if they are coming, I'm sure it won't make a difference."
Vegeta activated his scouter and scanned the sky. To his surprise, there were two fighters far stronger than the other Earthlings flying towards them. They would be there shortly. Vegeta couldn't believe it. Did Earth really have fighters that were this strong?
"Vegeta, what's wrong?" asked Nappa. "Don't tell me these fools are telling the truth?"
"There's definitely something coming towards us," stated Vegeta. "But it can't be Kakarot and his half-breed brat, the power levels are too high. One power level is six thousand and the other is four thousand."
"What?" asked Nappa horrified.
"There's no way Kakarot and his half-breed son could be that powerful," repeated Vegeta. "Not only that, but these Earthlings also know how to hide their power levels. These scans might not even represent their true power."
"That's impossible. Your scouter must be broken," declared Nappa.
"Still think I'm lying?" laughed Piccolo.
"Goku and Gohan are about to teach you a lesson you'll never forget," added Krillin.
Vegeta knew that there was no more fooling around.
"Nappa, quickly, kill them both. We need to let Kakarot and his brat know that we won't be opposed by anyone."
"But, what about the Dragon Balls?" asked Nappa.
"Forget the Dragon Balls. We don't need these fools to find them. It's clear to me now that the Namekian's invented the Dragon Balls of this planet. I'd actually heard about the magic orbs of Namek before, but until now I thought they were just a legend," stated Vegeta. "It can't be a coincidence that we find a Namek while searching for the Dragon Balls."
"I see. All we need to make Dragon Balls is a Namek and Planet Namek should be full of them. Meaning if this one doesn't want to cooperate, we'll just have to find one that will," declared Nappa before turning to Piccolo. "That makes you expendable."
Krillin sprang into action. He couldn't let Piccolo die. Without him, none of Earth's fighters could be revived.
"Get out of here Piccolo. I'll take care of this moronic brute myself," declared Krillin. "I just hope I can hold him off long enough for Goku and Gohan to arrive."
"What?" asked Piccolo confused.
"If you die the Dragon Balls will disappear and we can't revive anyone. It's crucial that you stay alive," stated Krillin.
"I appreciate your concern Krillin, but there's no way you can beat this guy on your own," said Piccolo.
Nappa turned to face Krillin.
"So, I'm a moronic brute?" asked Nappa. "Just for that, you'll die first."
Nappa charged at Krillin. Using all his remaining strength Krillin jumped out of the way at the most crucial moment, causing Nappa to crash into a nearby mountain.
Nappa jumped out even angrier than before.
"THAT'S IT RUNT, I'LL KILL YOU," yelled Nappa.
Nappa was about to launch a devastating energy blast, but like before, Piccolo caught him off guard and kicked him into another mountain. Nappa jumped out with minimal damage.
"Alright Namekian, since you're so eager, you can die first," declared Nappa.
He charged the same devastating attack, but this time the Saiyan was aiming at Piccolo. Piccolo tried to move, but he had put so much strength into that last attack that he couldn't. Both Piccolo and Kami believed this was the end for them. Nappa launched the attack and Piccolo braced for impact, but then the most unusual thing occurred. Krillin had charged towards Piccolo and pushed him out of the way. The attack missed Piccolo and hit Krillin, who felt more pain than ever before.
Piccolo looked in horror as the man he had trained with these last few months screamed in pain. When the smoke cleared Krillin was lying face down on the ground. He was still alive, but barely.
Finding strength within himself, Piccolo stood up and walked over to his fallen comrade.
"Why did you do that Krillin? Why did you save my life?" asked Piccolo. "And don't give me the excuse that you needed to save the Dragon Balls. I'm sure you could've found another way to revive your friends."
"You're right, we probably could've," said Krillin weakly. "But I couldn't just let you die. Not after everything we've been through this last year."
"But we're enemies. We may be allies in this fight, but we both knew we were back to being enemies after this was over," stated Piccolo.
"Did we though? You may think I sound foolish for saying this, but in the time, we trained together, I started to believe you weren't such a bad guy. The longer we trained, the more I believed that. I also thought that maybe you would have a change of heart after fighting so hard with the rest of us to defend the planet!" explained Krillin coughing up blood.
"How can you think that? After everything my father did, after everything I've done, how can you possibly think I'd stop being enemies with you and the others?" asked Piccolo. "I was born for a single purpose. To take over the world like my father wanted. That is my destiny."
"It doesn't have to be," stated Krillin. "We each make our own destiny Piccolo and yours doesn't have to be the one your father chose."
Piccolo couldn't deny there was a lot of truth to what Krillin was saying.
"I'll tell you the truth Piccolo. The reason I believed we'd remain allies after this fight and the reason I saved your life are the same. As insane as this'll sound, I consider you my friend, and after watching everyone else die at the hands of this monster, I couldn't just sit back and watch you die," stated Krillin.
Piccolo couldn't believe what he was hearing. Despite being mortal enemies with Goku, Krillin's best friend, the bald monk now considered Piccolo his friend as well. At this moment Piccolo realised what it meant to have a friend. To have someone care about you so much that they would give their life for you. It was at this moment that Piccolo decided to abandon his plans to take over the world, because regardless of what his father wanted, he knew it wasn't what his friend Krillin wanted.
Krillin coughed up more blood. His time amongst the living would soon end.
"Well, I guess this is it my friend. Just hold on a little longer. Goku and Gohan will be here soon, and they'll put an end to this nightmare. I just wish I hadn't died once before, because now I can't be brought back to continue training with you," stated Krillin closing his eyes. "Goodbye Piccolo, I won't forget you."
With his final word spoken, Krillin passed away, leaving Piccolo as the only fighter left.
"Thank you, Krillin. For everything. For showing me kindness. For showing me what it meant to have a friend," said Piccolo standing up and facing Nappa.
"Well Green Man, I guess it's just you and me now," gloated Nappa.
"Indeed, but it won't be for long. You're going to pay for this," stated Piccolo.
"Yeah, right. That's what they all said and they're all dead now. But don't worry, you'll be joining them soon," declared Nappa.
"Most likely, but before I go, there's something I want to show you," stated Piccolo.
"Really? What's that?" asked Nappa.
"I'm going to show you the technique that took the life of your comrade," said Piccolo putting his fingers to his forehead.
"Bring it on. Tt might've been enough to kill that pathetic weakling, but it won't leave a scratch on me," declared Nappa.
"We'll see," said Piccolo who started focusing his energy on generating the Special Beam Cannon. "I must warn you though, this'll take a few minutes."
"Take all the time you need because it won't make any difference," stated Nappa.
Piccolo focused all his energy to the tips of his fingers increasing his power drastically. This power increase went unnoticed by Nappa, but Vegeta was still wearing his scouter.
"Nappa be careful his power level has increased to three thousand," warned Vegeta.
"What three thousand? That's impossible," said Nappa turning to Vegeta.
"It's still going up. It's now at three thousand five hundred," stated Vegeta.
"What? But how?" asked Nappa.
"Don't forget his power level when fighting Raditz was only four hundred. When he used this technique, it increased by more than three times that amount," stated Vegeta observing a still increasing power level.
When Piccolo had finished charging the attack Vegeta couldn't believe what he was reading.
"Nappa, his power level is over four thousand," stated Vegeta.
"What? But that's stronger than me," said Nappa. "Your scouter must be busted."
Piccolo however laughed at this piece of information.
"Thanks for telling me that. If this attack hits, you're done for. Now, eat this. SPECIAL BEAM CANNON FIRE."
Piccolo aimed his fingers at Nappa and fired the beam.
I'll be honest, I feel like I'm taking a bit of a creative risk by doing this, but I was once advised to be unafraid of changing the cannon and I feel having Piccolo survive opens up a lot of opportunities to do so. I also feel that having someone sacrifice themselves for Piccolo is just as significant as how Piccolo sacrificed himself for Gohan in the anime. In this instance, I had Krillin sacrifice himself for Piccolo so he can understand just how close they've become by training together. That being said if enough people voice that they are against this turn of events I may rewrite the chapter to have Krillin survive instead.
Please let me know what you think, all feedback is greatly appreciated
