Edward's POV
As I watched my angel fall asleep, worry travelled through me at unbearable speeds. I could still perfectly recall the pain filled sound escaping her delicate lips and the look that crossed her always beautiful face.
I nuzzled my head against her hair trying to rid myself of bad thoughts, I was careful not to wake her. She smelled oddly different, her normal floral smell overpowered by a musky scent. The trademark for sick people.
As I was taking an unnecessary breath, my super hearing picked up a quickening in the girl's heartbeat. My eyes travelled to her just as she began shaking and pressing against my stone like chest.
I quickly moved from my sitting position, debating to wake her or not. It was obvious that my Bella was having a nightmare. I moved towards her messy room, gently placing her on the covers.
My mind was on battle mode as I reached towards her shoulder, reassuring myself it was for the best.
Bella's POV
A few minutes earlier (dream world written like this)
I looked down at the endless black below me, tightening my grip on the rope. My mind was screaming at me to move upwards, but my limbs had different ideas and I started to descend further into the hole.
The deeper I went, the more confused I become, my senses were slowly fading…
As I lost my sense of touch completely, the rope disappeared and the falling started. I was sure I was screaming, but no sound registered with my brain. I was left stranded in my thoughts as I slowly fell to the bottom.
The air become denser and my breathing more rapid. As I was about to reach the bottom I rapped my arms around my legs bracing for impact.
All at once my senses returned, and it felt as if a hand had grabbed the front of my shirt, stopping the ground from making contact. As I stared upward, I was surprised to see a mirror and an icy hand trying to pull me through the portal like thing.
I screamed as my eyes shot open, and a familiar person embraced me, Edward. I could hear him muttering in angelic voice the same sentence over and over. " It's okay, just a silly dream."
In the background, I could hear a faint panting sound. Soon enough, I realized it was my own and tried to stop it for Edward's sake.
As I was in Edward's embrace being comforted, I started to consider the gaping meaning of my nerve raking dream.
Bella's POV
I was still sitting in Edward's lap, staring at nothing in specific, when my very own head ambushed me and the throbbing pain began. It didn't feel like the normal headaches l've been experiencing throughout the whole morning, this was ten times more intense.
My eyes closed under the pressure as a cry escaped my lips.
I could feel Edward pushing me away from him, probably trying to look at my face. I could only assume my face was scrunched up in pain as the vampire next to me let out a moan. Smartly, I kept my eyes closed, even though I wanted to see Edward. I waited for the pain to lessen.
Instead of leaving me in peace, it attacked with more force, causing me to black out. My last consciousness thought was, what is Edward going to do when my body went limp in his arms.
Edward's POV
I was holding Bella against my chest, happy to be her anchor to the real world. I was still repeating the same sentence since she woke up, trying to comfort her and me, when I heard a cry of pain close to my shoulder.
In question, I pulled Bella away from me, trying to catch a glimpse of her chocolate brown eyes. Not only that, but I was confronted with a picture of pain and closed eyes. Before I could frantically beg for an explanation, Bella went limp in my arms.
Fearing for the worst, even though I could still perfectly hear her heartbeat, my hand travelled to the nearest pulse point. The reassuring movement calmed me enough to proceed. I was going to rusher her to Carlisle and in other words the hospital.
I knew her pain came from an intense headache because I experienced all her symptoms a few days before being bitten. My Bella had the Spanish influenza.
My coughing came at a later phase, so l suspected the same will happen to her. These thoughts rushed through my head as I speeded towards the hospital, almost causing me to rip the steering wheel off. If I realized this sooner, Bella wouldn't be in so much pain right now.
As my silver Volvo screeched to a halt at the entrance, l couldn't help but notice the yellow Ferrari in the car park, My sister Alice's car. Not knowing where she was, l jumped out of the car and rushed to Bella's side. I picked her up and rapped her fragile human body in an extra blanket I found in the car.
As the click of the door signalled my arrival, a nurse looked our way, letting out a low gasp. Her thoughts attacked me and I almost lost my balance, which is literally impossible for vampires.
"Is that girl even alive, I've seen corpses with better colour" she screamed in her head. I choked back a growl as the nurse ran to my side. She recognized me instantly as the famous doctor's son.
I could see Carlisle and an anxious Alice behind him travelling down the hall, both blocking me and singing my least favourite songs in their minds. I grounded my teeth together in frustration, waiting for them to reach the little gathering.
Snapping out of my daze, I realized the nice nurse was trying to ask a few questions about Bella's condition. Apologizing like a true gentleman, I began telling them about the morning. At vampire speed, I told Alice and Carlisle my assumption.
Carlisle gently took my one true love and rushed to the nearest unoccupied room, leaving me and Alice in the waiting room with a cloud of worry.
After an hour, my assumptions were proven correct by a confused nurse. I understand her emotions because I was experiencing them as will. This version of the flu was supposed to have died down in 1918.
Hopefully you enjoyed Edward's POV and the rest of the story.
