Title: A Centipede Wants to Live Peacefully.
Summary: I always wished to escape reality, believing in fairy tales, and immersing myself in books to distract myself from the duties of an adult. I wished to live in a cottage somewhere in a forest, free from the bustle of the city. I could never imagine that I would lose my life and then be reincarnated as a monster. Is my wish possible?
Day 2
As the leader of his master's secret guard, he noticed a change in his master recently. He probably noticed it from the very beginning but ignored it for the sake of gratitude and loyalty. Maybe he was a fool or just blind but he couldn't help but think back about all the actions he carried out under the guise of loyalty over the years. The lives he could have possibly ruined, the lives probably lost, the lives that were lost.
It only hit him just now…and for that he was remorseful...regretful but it was too late for that. He could never take back the things he did under his master's orders. He didn't know when he started doubting himself or even the master himself but for some reason, he could tell that change was coming. No, he saw that change was coming thanks to his Foresight skill that was hidden from others, even his master.
He saw glimpses of the future in his dreams and it was the same two dreams every time. In one dream, he would be standing next to a woman with beautiful black hair. He knelt and bowed his head at her feet. In the second dream, he saw his own death at the hands of someone. The matters of his own death were neither here nor there as he knew that someday he would die but he couldn't help but be cautious of his surroundings...of his master. His dreams were possibly showing him two possible futures but he couldn't determine when they would happen.
He pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind and focused on the task he came to do. He was going to report to his master now and inform him of the mad adventurers they found in the labyrinth. Hayate shuddered, seeing how heavily injured they were but what really troubled him was their mental state. They had gone mad, speaking of seeing demons and spirits, often mumbling incoherent sentences. They had managed to subdue them, rendering them unconscious.
He realized that lives could be ruined just like that, and he should of all people know that. The villagers' lives are going to be ruined by his masters plans. The plans for deforestation will ruin the lives of many animals, not to mention they already removed a great food source for villagers. But that was only a cover-up, a ruse to hide his true plan.
They were all sacrificial pawns in the guild masters game.
If it wasn't for his specialty in shadow magic and his ability to hide in the shadows he would have never found out what his master really had planned for the village. He made a deal with the elven leader to feign an attack on the village in exchange for a young baby. He didn't understand the full exchange but he knew nothing good can come from working with the elves. The guild would try to defend against whatever the elves had planned but would "lose" and the guild escaped with the villagers.
Hayate definitely thought it was a stupid plan and that it would end in a disaster. What was the whole point of doing this to the villagers when you're already so respected? He didn't understand at first but came to a realization. It was then he realized Yuno Azvelt was obsessed with power and loved seeing others below him. Hayate also realized that a lot of the man's ideas were successful because of him who did the dirty work.
He would have to stop the master but who could he turn to? The other members of the personal guard were very loyal to Yuno. He felt alone in this and could only ponder what his next move would be. He needed to at least find the child that was mentioned. If he could find the child and hide him so that Yuno couldn't use him then maybe it could help ease the guilt for all he has done.
He knocked on the door three times before walking in. Yuno was already looking up from his documents. Hayate braced himself, ready to report his investigations.
"Reporting Master, a group of adventurers was found in the labyrinth…" He said.
Yuno raised an eyebrow. "Is that it?"
"No sir, they uh, they were found fighting each other. They have gone mad."
"They what?"
"I said they have god mad, sir. They were screaming about demons, spirits, and mumbling incoherent sentences." Hayate reported without any emotion on his face.
Yuno was troubled, hearing this news. "Bring me to them." He got up from his seat in a rush, donning his jacket.
Hayate could only follow after his master to the cell where the adventurers were held. He stood back as Yuno talked to the guards and they were let into the room where the adventurers trashed against the restraints.
"IT IS HERE! THE DEMON IS HERE!"
"AHHHHHH! SAVE ME! THE DEMONS ARE COMING!"
Hayate thought it was a grim sight and the sole female of the adventurers was simply sobbing. He looked at Yuno who was watching them intently. He watch his master pull out a stone and he instantly recognized the rare stone. Hayate was shocked to see his master had such a stone and wondered if the man used it on him but unfortunately, he also had the concealment skill which could hide any information on him. Hayate inwardly sighed, knowing that he would need to be extra careful around the man.
"Appraisal!" Yuno hissed, the stone in his hand turning to dust the moment its magic was used up. "Fuck!"
Hayate was curious about what could cause such a reaction from his master. "What is wrong, Master?"
Yuno turned to him with a grim expression. "The magic cast on them was the work of Heresy Magic."
Hayate was speechless, but his expression was blank. He wondered who could do such magic against humans. "That magic that gets you killed on sight?"
Yuno nodded. "There is something new...in the labyrinth…"
"What should we do master?" Hayate asked, hoping the man would have an idea of what to do but what came next proved him wrong.
"We do nothing." Yuno frowned, "We cannot allow such a thing to ruin our plans."
"But-"
"Get rid of the adventurers," Yuno said, his eyes leaving no room for argument.
Hayate was silent for a few seconds before he replied. "Yes, Master…" Hayate waited until he was gone and balled his hand into a fist. He turned to the guards and pointed at the door. "Leave!"
"Yes, Sir!"
Hayate watched the adventurers in the cell with cold eyes. "I'm sorry." He whispered before pulling out his dagger.
"Mother, we are at the middle stratum," We all collectively said through our soul link.
"What is wrong my children?" She replied.
"It is very hot… with something….we do not know what it is.."
"Could it be lava? Is it bright orange and boiling?"
We hesitated because we didn't understand clearly but didn't want to disappoint mother. "Yes, Mother."
"Hmm, then there is nothing we can do...so for now go to the lower stratum but be very careful!"
"Of course, Mother."
We traveled exited the middle stratum and crept down the walls into the lower stratum. However, before we could get any further we heard a buzzing sound come from the wall across from us. We immediately activated the appraisal.
There was a next embedded in the wall with a Queen Finjicote hovering in the air with a swarm around her. There was a silence as the two swarms stared at each other. We moved first, activating our heretic magic before they could even move.
We implanted insanity directly into their hearts and minds. We watched as they flew around incoherently, smashing into the walls constantly. To finish them off, we used our poison magic to drench them completely. We defeated our enemies thanks to our shared strength mother.
We continued down into the darkness of the Lower Stratum while assessing our surroundings with detection. When we reached there were two paths we could take but were unsure. We immediately contacted the mother.
"Mother, we have reached the bottom but there are two paths to take." We told her in unison.
"Go to the right path."
"We obey, Mother.
We went to the right, the path our mother told us to take. We moved through the darkness like an evil shroud of red eyes. We detected two large monsters battle ahead, unaware of our presence. We used appraisal to discover the names and skills of the monsters. We crawled on the wall, moving towards the ceiling while observing the monster battle that seemed vicious.
There were the Elroe Greshigard and Elroe Baladorado thrashing around and crashing into walls as they fought to kill each other. Unfortunately, the Greshigard won the battle as it managed to slice the giant snake into pieces.
We immediately acted with quickness, dousing the giant praying mantis with poison magic from all 1500 of us. The mantis was drenched completely, unable to move because of the poison that seeped into its body. T
Then we fell.
We swarmed the mantis hungrily, tearing into its fleshing using our fangs poison and paralyzing attacks to further weaken it. We devoured it quickly as we could sense a large number of enemies coming in our direction. We used both appraisal and detection to assess our enemies as our mother taught us to.

The enemies approaching us were weak alone but strong in a large group. With our arithmetic processing speed, we were able to count at least 800 of these monsters altogether. We outnumbered them easily thanks to mother birthing us out of her royal body. We promised mother that we would all come back alive so we must defeat them swiftly.
Both sides stared each other down, the tension growing thick like smoke. We made the first move and released a poison fog from our mouths that quickly spread through the cavern. The monkeys all shrieked angrily as their vision was clouded.
They couldn't see when we crawled up the sides of the walls and showered them with more poison. It wasn't even a battle for them as they were stronger thanks to their mother. For us, who could switch between attacking and using magic the monkeys weren't a match for us.
There is no Mai in this chapter, hope you guys aren't disappointed but she will show up in the next chapter for sure. I was just planing out some stuff for her and I wanted it for the next chapter.
