Will took his dear time as he made his way back to his apartment with the take-out bag in his hand. He had purposely pretended to be unable to decide on a dish and let other people order first. Will had done this as much as he could before he finally had to order or else it would have looked very weird and suspicious.

But he had to extend the last time of quiet and being able to just think because he knew back in his apartment Audrey was waiting and probably already working on dump comments on why he took so long. Something along the line of flirting with the cashier or something like that.

Will really did love his sisters, while he and Sarah were only two years apart, her being the older one, Audrey was his baby sister, a late surprise for their parents when Will had been nine. But therefore Will had looked out for her the moment their parents brought her home from the hospital. He had babysat her, protected her from the mean kids in their street and school, and had threatened every boy who had dared to come near her. He did the same for Sarah, but she was older than him, and so were the boys she dated, but Audrey? Audrey was his baby sister.

He loved her, but she also drove him nuts, they both did, but Audrey was a little bit worse than Sarah. It was just that she could talk non-stop about the most boring things. She was very nosy, always putting her nose where it didn't belong, and good god did she annoy him when she tried to pry into his love life and set him up with various women for blind dates.

Will only hoped that she wouldn't stay longer than a week; after that, he had to figure a way out to kick her out. Audrey just couldn't stay longer, he couldn't even use the old excuse and tell her he had to work or anything like that, Will was only suspended for a week, and it was already torture. And like this, his thoughts automatically wandered back to Diane and the firm. The other thing about the suspension was that he had a guilty conscience. He knew about the extreme workload Diane had to deal with now and that she had to work herself close to exhaustion.

As he took the elevator up to his apartment, Will's thoughts only revolved around Diane. She was the one who had saved his ass, and as a reward, Diane was the one that had to suffer because of his stupidity. God, Will was lucky if Diane ever agreed to talk to him after this, he really had to figure a way out to help her. It was the least he could do after what she had done for him, she had saved him, and so he couldn't let her pay for it.

Opening the door Will reminded himself to call Lionel first thing tomorrow.

"Will? Are you finally back? I'm famished," Audrey called from the kitchen, and Will took a deep breath and tried not to roll his eyes.

"How many others do you know who have a key to my apartment?" Will asked as he walked up next to her and placed the bag in front of them.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe some friend of yours," she answered and wiggled her eyebrows at him, and Will closed his eyes.

"Audrey, you're my sister, and I love you, but I swear to god, if you don't stop this crap, I will kick you out. I'm not seeing anybody at the moment I don't plan to meet anyone either, so drop it, okay?" Will briefly wondered what Audrey's reaction would be if she knew that he would love nothing more than to go out with Diane and have a relationship with her. He knew that the very few times Diane and his sisters had met, they got along pretty well, Audrey for one, was her biggest fan, and if they made it that far in their relationship to tell family, he knew Audrey would be over the moon.

"Fine, but you do sound like someone who needs to get laid," Audrey grumbled as she took her food from the bag.

"How about we talk about your love life for once? You didn't mention anyone since Samuel, so?" he hated this, he definitely didn't want to know anything about his sister's love life, but he also wanted to get back to her because he could see a faint blush covering her cheeks and knew that she didn't like to be on the other side of the game.

"Well, there have been one or two-"

"Tell me their names."

"Marco and...Charlie," Will narrowed his eyes at her as he handed her a fork.

"Did you just say Charlie because of the Charlie Parker picture next to you?"

"Maybe…"

"Sucks to be on this side of the table, huh?"

"Yeah, fine, you won. I'll stop with the prying," Audrey said as they started to eat, and Will didn't do anything to stop the grin appearing on his lip. They almost finished their food before Audrey suddenly snapped her fingers.

"Oh shoot, I almost forgot! Diane was here." Will immediately choked on his last bite of potato.

"What?" he asked between coughs and reached for the glass of water.

"Yeah, she wanted to stop by on her way to court, but you had to take an hour and a half to walk two blocks, so you missed her."

"What did she say?" Will asked, still coughing a little, and Audrey laughed at his face.

"Why so nervous suddenly? Unless- oh my god! Do we fancy our colleague, dear brother?" Audrey squealed, and Will was close to murder her now. He couldn't really pretend that she was wrong, and Will absolutely hated that he knew that she was right. He definitely couldn't let Audrey find out that he really did like Diane that way.

"Oh, for fucks sake, I thought that we were through with this! I happen to choke on my food, thanks for your concern by the way. I'm just worried because she has so much to deal with at the firm right now." Will growled and glared at his little sister.

"Oh, come on! Who do you think you're talking to? I saw you eyeballing Diane years ago, oh just wait until I tell Sarah I was right all along!"

"You won't do anything of that sort! Audrey, for the last time, would you and Sarah please stop interfering with my life! It's my life, and you know what? Even though I fucked up, I'm still more successful than you! You were stuck in a crappy job, and while you finally had the guts to quit, instead of pursuing something you really want to do, you 'travel' around the world because you're too fucking scared you could fuck up! And let's not get to the fact that you didn't find someone who wasn't playing you in some way!

And while dear Sarah may have found the right man and has three wonderful children, she constantly mocks us that she is the only one with a healthy relationship while constantly complaining! She gave up her career and is now stuck at home, and slowly but surely, the spark left, and now she doesn't know what to do. She has no career, and the problems start knocking on her door!

And with all that, you still have the audacity to mock me about my life! So why don't you try to fix your own damn lives for once before you interfere with mine or try to tell me how to live it!" with that, Will stood up and stormed towards his bedroom. He needed a shower right now.

Before he had even fully undressed, Will already felt guilty for yelling at Audrey. Of course, he really shouldn't have said all of this to her, and Will knew he went too far, but while he was primarily angry at himself, he was still also a little angry at her. But, of course, most of the anger came from the fact that he didn't want her to know about his feelings for Diane because Audrey would tell everybody, probably including Diane, and then he was fucked.

With a sigh, Will stepped into the shower. He would apologize to Audrey later, they were siblings after all, so they had thrown worse things at each other during arguments.

After finishing his shower Will dressed in some jeans and a shirt and went back inside his living room to find Audrey sitting on the sofa strumming some nameless tune on her guitar. With another sigh, Will flopped down on the couch next to her.

"Are you done being an asshole?" Audrey asked without looking at him, and Will swore she was pouting a little.

"Yeah... I'm sorry I was such an ass, and I really shouldn't have said most of that. But you really have to stop doing that, okay?" Will told her, and Audrey nodded.

"Deal, I'm also sorry, by the way," she answered and looked at him. A smile laid on both of their faces, and they knew everything was okay. Will wanted to get up to grab his guitar and play some songs with her when he noticed a small piece of paper lying close to his foot under the coffee table. Bending down, he picked it up and turned it around. Will had no idea what the hell he was looking at. To him, it looked like a strange fuzzy black and gray white noise.

"What the hell? Is this yours?" Will asked and didn't understand why Audrey's eyes widened, and she gasped in shock.

"Oh my god, certainly not! That's a sonogram Will" Audrey said, and it took Will a second longer to understand what she said.

"Wait...you mean like-"

"Yes, like the ones you get when you are pregnant! Did you get one of your women pregnant?" his sister asked, followed by a punch to the shoulder.

"No way! I hadn't had-" he quickly bit his tongue to stop himself from saying he hadn't had sex since sleeping with Diane, "anyone over in some time."

"Give that to me I- Oh my god!" Audrey suddenly squealed, and another big grin appeared on her face. "That's why she was so strange! It's Diane's! Diane is pregnant!"

"What? No, she's not!" Will immediately answered it couldn't be! What the hell made Audrey even think that Diane could be pregnant? She was officially crazy now.

"Yes, she is! It says her name on the sonogram right here," Audrey shoved the picture back in his hands and then pointed to the small name in the top left corner. Only then did Will read what stood there. There were a bunch of abbreviations and numbers he had no idea what they meant, but there stood Diane's name bright and clear and well as the name of the practice Jones and Carter Women's Health Care . But what actually caused his heart to beat faster in his chest was the date. It was from almost five weeks ago.

"I-I do you- can you see how far along?" Will asked, his voice cracking because it couldn't be.

"Just give me a second...oh, here it is, see, GA stands for gestational age, and that would be seven weeks! Oh my, that means she's almost three months pregnant now!" Audrey squealed again, but Will couldn't even hear her. It couldn't be, no, there was no way that Diane was pregnant! It was impossible, he- oh dear lord, had he impregnated her? Was he the father? Oh god, no! No...Diane would have told him if she was pregnant. There had to be another explanation for this.

But it could explain some of her strange behavior the last few weeks, even before his suspension, Will had thought that something was going on with her. Of course, he had thought that it was because of their incredible night together that Diane acted a little bit strange around him. Not in one million years would he have ever thought it to be something like this.

Oh God, what was he going to do? He couldn't be a father! He would be abysmal, and he had no idea how to raise a child for god's sake! He only saw his sister's kids a few times a year, and the youngest was already ten. Then suddenly, there was another thought crossing his mind. What if he wasn't the father? He and Diane weren't even in a relationship, not now and not then, so what made him even think he was the father? But if that wasn't the case and Diane was pregnant with his baby, then he had to know.

Will needed answers, and he needed them now, so in the next second, while ignoring Audrey's questions about what was going with him, he jumped up and raced to his phone. But after three unsuccessful attempts of calling Diane, Will paced around his living room trying to figure out what to do.

"Will! Would you stop behaving like a maniac? That's wonderful news! You're going to be a...I don't know...an honorary uncle!"

"Zip it, Audrey! I'm trying to-" then it hit him. Of course, why didn't he think of it immediately! Kalinda! In the last few weeks, he had always seen them together. He had wanted to ask his friend and investigator a few times if the two of them finally realized they'd be great pal's. Will would bet his left arm that Kalinda knew if Diane was pregnant or not, maybe even if he was the father.

So Will quickly dialed his friend's number next. To his relief, she picked up after the fourth ring.

"Will, I'm kinda busy right now so-" but before Kalinda could finish the sentence, Will had already blurted out the question.

"Is Diane pregnant?" his words were met by silence, and Will thought his heart leaped into his throat. "Kalinda! You're one of my best friends, so I'm only going to ask you once more, is Diane pregnant?"

"I- Will I don't know if-"

"Kalinda!" he interrupted her, and now he was actually shouting.

"Yes, Diane is pregnant." Will thought his legs would give outright under him. What were they going to do? This couldn't be happening! It had to be some strange dream. Will ran his free and through his hair while he stared at the opposite wall, having completely forgotten that his sister was even present.

"Is it-? Am I…?" Will couldn't speak out the words, but he hoped that Kalinda would get what he meant, and he wasn't disappointed.

"It's your's Will. You're the father." now, he actually sunk down against the kitchen counter, his body reacting even before his brain had really processed what Kalinda had just told him. He was going to be a father.

"Oh my fucking god."

"Okay, Will, listen to me. I'm going way out of bounds now, and I hope I do the right thing. So I know this is a lot to take in but-"

"Oh, I doubt very much you know what I'm going through right now."

"Dammit, listen to me! Will- I'm at the hospital with Diane. She called me because she was bleeding and in pain…Will she lost a lot of blood, and I don't-" but he interrupted her right again, this time with fear laced in his voice.

"But they are okay?! Tell me Diane is okay, Kalinda!" whatever emotional roller-coaster he had been feeling only seconds earlier came all crashing down to blinding fear over Diane's life. No, what kind of sick game was this? He found out he would be a father only to fear for the life of the woman he loved and their unborn child a second later?

"I only know Diane's doing...okay, well as okay as she can be, but I'm no family member or anything and wasn't allowed to go with her. So I don't know if the baby survived. We're at the Chicago Central, Will I think you should come, I know it's unfair to you, but no matter what happened, Diane needs you right now."

"I'm on my way!" Will said, and he really was already on his way to the door as he hung up and grabbed his jacket.

"Hey! Where are you going?!" Audrey called after him, but Will didn't answer her. Instead, he just threw his jacket on and was out the door, throwing it shut behind him. Will ran down the stairs, and only when he arrived on the main level did he pause for a second. The hospital in which Diane was wasn't that far away, and with traffic, it could take him way too long to get there in time. However, something inside of Will told him that he had no time to lose.

Without wasting another moment, Will turned around and ran out the door and down the street as fast as he could, not giving one damn what everybody else might think of him. He had to get to Diane and their baby.

That was the only thing on his mind now. Because even if he hadn't known about the baby half an hour ago and was still scared as hell about the fact that he might be a father, Will knew he had to be there! Nothing could keep him from being by Diane's side. And the whole time he ran through the streets as fast as he could, Will held tightly onto the sonogram in his hand.

Kalinda was driving as fast as she could while throwing a glance at Diane beside her whenever possible. She was a tough person, and nothing could shock her that easily, but when Kalinda had arrived on the parking level and saw Diane trying to stay on her feet with blood running down her legs, even she had to force herself to help and not simply stare in shock. There was so much of it that a small puddle had formed on the ground, and Diane was so pale that Kalinda feared she might lose consciousness any moment.

As fast as she dared to Kalinda had ushered Diane on the passenger seat of her car and backed out of the parking spot. "Diane, call your doctor. I'm driving you to the Chicago Central; she can meet us there." Kalinda said and watched as Diane stared at her bloody hand and the phone in it. She wanted to call her name again, but then Diane did as she was told, and Kalinda pulled her own phone from her pocket.

Diane had to be in court at half an hour, but that was out of the question. However, Kalinda knew that Alicia was Diane's Co-Council, so she had to call her and tell the other woman that she had to do this on her own today.

"Kalinda? Where did you run off to?" Alicia asked, but Kalinda had no time for small talk.

"I'm with Diane, there is a medical emergency. She collapsed on the parking level, you're her Co-Council and you have to do this on your own."

"What? Oh my god, is Diane okay?"

"I think so...but I can't keep talking, just don't tell anyone else what happened, okay?" Kalinda said fast as she quickly drove around a corner, maybe a little too fast because she heard a sharp intake of breath from Diane and saw how she bit her lip and tightly grabbed the door handle with her right.

"I'm sorry!" She quickly apologized to Diane before she focused on Alicia. "I have to go now." not waiting for Alicia's answer, she hung up and put the phone away. "We'll be there soon, Diane, it's going to be okay," she told her, trying to sound like she meant it. Kalinda wasn't famous for her optimism.

"No, it won't be...I should have listened to you…" Diane said, and Kalinda couldn't remember ever hearing her voice being so small and full of pain. "I wanted that baby Kalinda, I really did...and I thought- it's all my fault…" this time, Kalinda didn't have to look to know that Diane was crying now. She felt incredibly helpless, she wasn't the most sensible person, and comforting others was not her best discipline. But this was her friend who just went through one of the most traumatic things that could happen, so she did the only thing that came to her mind while she had to stop at a red light. Kalinda reached over with her right hand and took Diane's left in hers, who held tightly onto the only support there would be for her.

"You don't know that, Diane, we'll get you to the hospital and- maybe-" but Kalinda stopped herself before she could talk even further. She had no proof that Diane was wrong. She was still bleeding and obviously in pain, so how could she say that Diane might not have lost the baby when everything pointed towards a miscarriage?

Kalinda held Diane's hand as long as she could, only forced to let go when she decided to drive even faster through the streets. Then, out of the corner of her eyes, she watched as a still crying Diane searched through the glove compartment and then desperately tried to clean her hand off the blood with two small disinfectant wipes.

The twelve minutes until they finally arrived at the hospital were the longest and most terrible Kalinda had experienced in a long time. She helped Diane out of the car and supported her as they made their way inside the hospital, where a nurse was already expecting them. Apparently, Diane's doctor had called the hospital and instructed them to take her up to an examination room and do something and not just let her sit in the waiting room.

Kalinda was forced to watch how they put Diane in a wheelchair and were gone. Since she was no family member or anything, she wasn't allowed to go with her, and while Kalinda was tempted to argue with them, she knew that there wasn't anything she could do.

"It's just a miscarriage, nothing life-threatening, just take a seat and wait," one of them told Kalinda as she walked past her, and the investigator felt a sudden but dramatic rise of anger. Quick as she was, she had grabbed the woman by the arm and forced her around.

"That's the way you treat people here? We're talking about the life of my friend and her child, so don't you dare tell me it's just a miscarriage! I hope when something like that happens to you, there is somebody taking care of you that has a little bit more empathy and doesn't tell you to just take a seat and wait for someone to die!" Kalinda hissed angrily, and the nurse quickly ran away from her. Her eyes widened in fear and shame as soon as Kalinda let go of her.

Only two minutes later, while Kalinda was pacing around the waiting area, her phone rang, and she swallowed when she read Will's name on the display.

Everything around her happened in a blur. Diane couldn't really focus on anything, she answered the nurse's questions truthfully but also automatically, without really understanding what was asked and what she answered. She was wheeled into a sterile examination room, and a nurse helped her change into a hospital gown before she was laid on the bed and hooked up to the machines.

Eleven weeks and four days that's how long her pregnancy had lasted. For eleven weeks and four days, she had been a mother, only for it to end in this brutal way when she had allowed herself to hope and dream. Diane knew it was her own fault. She had worked too much and hadn't listened to her body, she hadn't eaten or drank enough, hell if it hadn't been for Kalinda, it would have been even worse.

Diane should have known that it was ill-fated from the beginning, that she just wasn't meant to be a mom and that it was for the best that way. She would have been a miserable mother, she had been a miserable mother, or she would have noticed something was wrong right away or not? A good mother would have known, would have cared more about her child than her work. Diane couldn't even take her of her child while it was still within her, she was so stupid for ever thinking she could do this, she should have known right from the start.

While Diane knew all of this, she still felt so much pain, and at the same time, she felt so empty because the one thing she had loved more than anything else had been taken from her. There would be no baby to love unconditionally, no hugs and kisses, no first smiles, words, or steps. No sleepless nights, nobody that would call her Mom, no bedtime stories, and no pictures on her fridge. No birthdays or mother days, no arguments, tantrums or laughter, no cries for her during stormy nights or Sunday morning cuddles in bed. This whole life she had dreamed of was gone and would never come back.

And while Will had no idea, how could she ever look him in the eyes ever again, knowing that she was to blame that his child had died? He would hate her, and rightfully so.

"Miss Lockhart? I'm starting the ultrasound now, okay?... I just have to inform you that I can't tell you about anything I see, you have to wait for the doctor to talk about the results. Do you understand?" the sonographer said pulled Diane out of her thoughts. She had no idea who much time had passed and hadn't even noticed him stepping inside the room. But Diane knew that she didn't want to know anyway. What was there to learn apart from the exact way she had caused the death of her child?

"Yes," Diane whispered, and when he started, she stared at the ceiling with more tears running down her cheeks. She had been so excited for her next ultrasound, only for it to turn into one of the worst things she ever had to go through. And she never felt so alone before in her life.

It seemed like forever until it was finally over, and he moved the probe off her bump and wiped the gel away. Then, after writing something down and clicking through the ultrasound machine, he looked at her for a few moments, looking like he wanted to tell her something but deciding against it.

"Okay, your Doctor should be here any minute now, I'll be back later." with that he was gone, and Diane was left alone once again. Trying to suppress the sobs, she pulled the gown down and the paper-thin blanket that had covered her legs up, careful not to touch her bump at all. She then wrapped her arms around herself as best as she could and cried.

But only a few minutes later, just when she had somewhat calmed down, Dr. Jones stepped inside the room. "Hello Diane, I hoped we would see each other again under better circumstances, how are you feeling? Are you still in pain, or do you feel cramping?" the other woman asked, and Diane wiped the tears off her cheek before she answered.

"I'm still in some pain, but not as bad as earlier, and the cramping stopped," Diane answered as she had already done with the nurses.

"Okay, I would like to do another ultrasound myself if that's okay with you?"

Diane wanted to say no, she really did, but she simply nodded because she didn't know what the alternative was and because she probably deserved to suffer now.

"Good, I know you already told the nurses, but could you tell me again what happened?"

"It was a stressful day, like most of them were for a week now, I experienced some pain here and there what I thought was growing pains...they weren't that bad but when...when I got out of the car- there was that new stabbing pain, and then I started bleeding...it was just so much," Diane explained to her and tried her best to keep calm.

"But you didn't see any tissue?" Dr. Jones asked as she began the ultrasound, and Diane quickly closed her eyes to prevent the tears from running over her cheeks again.

"No," she replied in a whisper.

"Alright...Diane, I want to show you something-" Dr. Jones began, but Diane quickly shook her head, her eyes widened in panic.

"No, please, I can't! I can't do that…please, just...tell me what has to be done." Diane told her, and her doctor nodded.

"Okay, give me a second here," the woman mumbled, and then a few moments later, the room filled with loud, fast thumping noises, a sound Diane had only once heard before a little over a month ago. At first, she couldn't believe what she was hearing and stared at her OB/GYN. She wondered if the woman was trying to mock her or play her, but before Diane could say anything, she had turned the monitor around and smiled at her patient.

"You didn't have a miscarriage, Diane, see? Your baby is fine. Actually, both are. It seems we have a surprise visitor finally making an appearance, you're having twins Diane," Dr. Jones told her, and Diane couldn't believe it. This wasn't possible, she must have lost consciousness, or she was hallucinating because it couldn't be true. A minute ago she had been convinced she had lost her baby, and now there were two?

"No... that's not possible. It can't be...I- there was so much blood!" Diane stammered out, her eyes still fixed on the monitor that showed two small fetuses side by side. She could see at least one of the tiny hearts beating while the heart rate steadily flickered over the bottom of the monitor.

"I know, but what you have is a subchorionic hematoma which broke and therefore led to a hemorrhage. Actually, quite a few women have a subchorionic hematoma. Depending on position and size, they can be harmless and disappear, but the larger they are, and if they are positioned under the placenta, they can be dangerous. While you have quite a big one, it magically didn't form under one of the placenta's, which is, I have to admit, a small miracle." Dr. Jones explained to Diane and showed her the dark spot next to her babies, which was only slightly smaller than them.

"And what-what are you going to do? Do you have to operate?" Diane barely managed to say, but Dr. Jones shook her head.

"Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. All we can do is wait and watch you closely. Since you already hemorrhaged, you will probably continue to bleed some more until the hematoma has healed. It could be weeks, months, or it could stay until the end of your pregnancy, then at the latest, it will go away, but there really is no way to know." Diane stared at her.

"But what about the-the babies?"

"I know it sounds impossible, but as long as the hematoma doesn't grow, then neither you nor the twins are in immediate danger. It might be different if it was located under one placenta, but it would most likely resolve itself even then. What you don't bleed out gets reabsorbed, and like any other hematoma, it heals by itself. But to make the healing as easy as possible, you should really slow down Diane, no heavy lifting or exercise. You might go to work, but actually, I'd prefer it if you stayed home for at least a week."

Before Diane could even answer her, the door to the room flew open, and the last person she had expected stood panting in the doorway.

"Will?"

"Sir! What do you think you're doing?!" both women said at the same time, but Will ignored Dr. Jones and was at Diane's side the next moment.

"Are you okay? What happened? Is the baby alright?" Will asked her, his face one great display of worry, and he was so out of breath like he had been running through the whole hospital. But what shocked Diane even more was that he seemed to know about the baby.

"H-how do you know?" Diane couldn't help but ask, her heart beating so fast in her chest she thought it might jump right out.

"I found the sonogram under my coffee table...I tried to call you, but you didn't answer, so I called Kalinda, and she told me you're here and that that I'm going to be a father?" Will said, while his breathing rate was normalizing again, his heart was beating as fast as Diane's. But Diane couldn't answer him immediately, still too overwhelmed by the whole situation.

"Sir, I don't know what is going on, but I have to ask you to leave until-" Dr. Jones began only to be interrupted by Will, who turned towards her.

"I'm not going anywhere until I-" but he didn't get any further because at that moment, his eyes came to lay on the monitor, and he saw his unborn children for the first time. Even if he didn't know that they were having twins.

"Is that-? I mean...wow." Will stammered and sunk down on the edge of Diane's bed since his legs just couldn't support him anymore. His eyes were fixed on the screen, and he felt tears stinging in his eyes. He really was going to be a father.

"Could you give us a moment?" Diane asked Dr. Jones, whose eyes darted back and forth between them for a second before she nodded, paused the ultrasound, and left the room.

"I'm so sorry, Will. I know I should have told you earlier...I tried to, but I couldn't," Diane started glancing at her hands, unable to look at him. Then, against her expectations, his hands laid on top of hers, and when she looked up at him through the tears, Will gently squeezed them.

"What happened today, Diane? Is- is everything okay?" he asked quietly, and Diane swallowed the lump in her throat.

"I don't know…I was sure I had a miscarriage, but Dr. Jones just told me I have a...subchorionic hemorrhage. I have or had a hematoma in my womb, it ruptured, I guess, and that's why I'm bleeding." Diane told him, and Will's hand tightened around hers, and the worry was even more prominent on his face now.

"But what about the baby? What are they going to do?" Will asked.

"Actually, there are two, I'm- we're having twins," Diane told him, and Will's eyes widened, and he looked like he was about to faint for a second.

"What? Twins?" he asked, not sure if he had heard right. Of course, it was twins, having one accident baby was too easy.

"Yes, I just found out myself, I know that's a lot to take in, but you have the right to know, and I don't want any more secrets, the last month was hell, Will."

"Okay...okay, we will figure that out, but what about that hematoma thing?" Will asked once more, still a bit overwhelmed by the idea that there was not one baby but two, but he also had to know what was going to happen to Diane and their children.

"There is nothing they can do. It's not as bad as it sounds, and they go away on their own after a few weeks. We can only wait." she answered, and for a few moments, they were quiet until Diane just couldn't stand it anymore.

"Will I...I want them, I know this wasn't planned or what either of us wanted, but I don't want anything from you! You don't have to pay child support or anything, and you don't have to be a part of our lives, nobody ever has to know, I swear. Nothing has to change for you, Will. We can pretend it never happened." Diane said and finally gathered enough courage to look at him. Will slowly nodded but didn't let go of her hands.

"Okay," he slowly said, but then Will reached out and gently wiped the tears away from her cheeks. "But I don't want that, Diane. I don't want you to go through all of that on your own, and I don't want to be a stranger in my own children's life. I have absolutely no idea how to be a father, and if I'm being honest, the thought alone scares the hell out of me. But when I found that sonogram and...when Kalinda told me you're here and that you might lose the baby…that was even worse."

"I ran here all the way from my apartment, and the whole time I couldn't stop thinking about you and this tiny being we made. And I'm not mad at you for not telling me. In a way, I understand, I just wish I could have been there for you. I know we can figure this out together, Di, and I swear, even though I'm absolutely clueless, I promise you I'll be there every step of the way. I don't want to pretend it never happened because I want you, and I want our children," Will said, and Diane couldn't believe what he was saying.

"How can you say that after everything that happened? If I had realized something was wrong earlier, maybe none of this would have happened! I should have told you, and it's my fault-" but Diane was interrupted when Will hugged her as best as he could, and Diane just cried in his arms. The secret was finally out, but she just couldn't understand how Will could accept it just like that and didn't hate her.

"Because we always have each other's back, that's what we promised each other, right? It's not your fault Di, nothing that happened was I know that. And I can say that because that was not just a one-night stand for me, Diane. I don't know what it is...but if you could give us a chance, maybe we can find out together?" Will whispered and held her until she had calmed down again. Diane had meant what she said earlier, no more lies and no more secrets.

"Yes, I want that too, Will," she answered, and when Will pulled back, Diane saw the smile on his lips. He then turned back to the ultrasound monitor, and the smile even widened. Will's eyes then went down to the unfamiliar bump on Diane's abdomen. This was real. Diane was pregnant with twins, and he was the father, they were going to be parents.

"Can I? I-I mean do you mind if I-?" Will asked, almost embarrassed, and for a second, he feared she would say no, but Diane nodded and quickly used a corner of the blanket to wipe some leftover gel away. Then, carefully, almost like the touch could hurt her or the twins, Will laid his hand on Diane's bump, and when he did, he felt a kind of joy and love that had never been there before in his life.

"Wow," he whispered and looked back at Diane with a smile and tears in his eyes. "I just know everything is going to be okay," Will added, and Diane couldn't help but believe him. Hours earlier, Diane was convinced her life wouldn't be okay again for quite a while, if not forever. But she was still pregnant, now there were even two babies, and with Will knowing and staying by her side, everything might actually be okay again, maybe even more than okay.

Hello!

Well, Diane and the twins (surprise!) are okay for now! Yay, and Will knows he will be a dad and is really happy despite being also really scared! But which expecting parents aren't? So the question is, what are they going to do about the firm and Will's suspension? And when and how are they going to tell the others?

Stay safe and until next time!
