"So, it was you." Mothra said. "You were the one from the legend 12,000 years ago."
"Correct." Destoroyah confirmed. "It was I who attempted to annihilate all life on this planet, but my conquest was stopped by the Relics of Nature, and I was banished to another dimension and trapped there for 12,000 years. I finally found a way out after all that time, and I encountered Ghidorah while I was traveling through space. He expressed a deep hatred for Godzilla and a burning desire for revenge, so I freed him from his prison and we formulated a plan.
"I understood his need for vengeance, having felt it myself, so I allowed him to serve as a substitute leader in my conquest. But I quickly saw that I was wrong to place my faith in him and his recruits. After they all lost so humiliatingly to you, it was time for me to step in and take my proper place." Destoroyah looked with disdain at King Ghidorah's unconscious body. "A disgrace, the lot of them."
"There's a reason why they lost to us, Destoroyah." Godzilla said. "We're not just allies, we're friends, and our friendship makes us strong. No matter what Ghidorah and his recruits threw at us, we stayed strong and pulled through every one of them. The strength of our friendship helped us beat every kaiju who stood in our way, and it'll help us beat you, too."
"Oh, I've no doubt of the bond you share with your friends, Godzilla," Destoroyah said, "but you should know that strength is not without weakness. And what would your weakness be? Your protectiveness of each other will eventually lead you to make rash decisions. It may perhaps lead you to harm, or even death."
"As long as have each other, we'll always be safe." Jet Jaguar said.
Destoroyah gazed upon the team in silence for a moment. "You know, you could spare yourselves the trouble altogether and tell me the locations of the Relics of Nature. If it was not clear to you, I am in need of their powers."
"And let you use them to doom the earth?" Godzilla said. "Absolutely not. There's no way we're letting a tyrant like you get your claws on them."
Destoroyah shook his head. "Well, isn't that a shame." he said with mock disappointment. "Fine, then. I'll just have to find them myself." The mutant kaiju turned to go. "You're more than welcome to try and stop me, if you truly believe you are capable. Goodbye for now." He flapped his wings and took off.
"I can't believe it." Anguirus said. "This whole time we thought Ghidorah was the troublemaker, but it turned out to be Destoroyah."
"Which is even worse." Godzilla added. "Destoroyah is more ruthless and evil than any of the kaiju we've faced."
"And he's even scarier." Jr. said shakily. "I hope we stop him soon. I don't want him to hurt us or the humans."
"We don't either, son." Godzilla said. "But before we go after him, we better stop by Jet's place so Dr. Ibuki can fix his arm." In the commotion, Jet Jaguar had nearly forgotten about his damaged arm.
"We all took quite a beating, really." King Caesar said. "I guess we can spare a moment for downtime."
"What are we gonna do with him?" Rodan asked, nodding to King Ghidorah.
"Allow me." Mothra said. She flew in a circle high above the space kaiju and sealed him away with her golden scales.
"Good thinking, Mothra." Godzilla said. "Where did you send him, anyway?"
"Somewhere he will not be escaping from anytime soon." Mothra answered.
"Well, that's one weight off our shoulders." Jet Jaguar said. "Shall we get going?"
The organic kaiju sat outside Jet Jaguar's house and helped tend to each other's injuries. Jr. wandered over to play with Mothra, but Godzilla noticed Minya sitting by himself, not in the mood to join his brother. The king sat down beside his older son, now seeing his worried expression. He pulled Minya closer to him, but the prince didn't seem interested in any close interactions.
"Hey, son. Look at me." Godzilla said gently. Minya looked forlornly up at his father. "What's troubling you? Is it Destoroyah?"
"Yeah." Minya adverted his gaze again. "I know you guys will stop him, I believe in all of you. It's just...I'm scared. For you, Jr., our friends, the humans. We thought Ghidorah was the biggest threat to Earth, but when we saw Destoroyah, the actual evil from the legend, now a danger to Earth again..." Minya looked on the verge of breaking down. "We thought we saved the planet, but now an even bigger threat is here and-and-"
"Shh, it's okay, Minya." Godzilla said. "I know. I know you're scared, and I know things look bleak, but we can't give up while the humans need us. We have to stay strong and defeat this new evil. Earth and its inhabitants depend on us. And whatever he throws at us, we'll get through them together." He hugged Minya tenderly. "I promise."
Minya hugged his father back, feeling somewhat better after confiding in him.
Meanwhile, inside the house, Jet Jaguar sat on Goro's worktable as his inventor repaired his damaged arm. "Almost...and done. You're all fixed up, Jet Jaguar." Goro said, giving his creation a fatherly pat on the back.
"Thanks, Father." Jet Jaguar said, but then sighed. "Looks like our fight isn't over, though."
The robot had filled his father in on what happened in Beijing, so Goro knew what he meant. "No, I guess not. But you've never let anything discourage you from saving the world. Humanity needs you and your friends, you can't give up until they're safe."
Despite the dark turn their quest had taken, Jet Jaguar knew his father was right. He and his friends couldn't stop until they'd conquered the evil that threatened their planet. He hugged Goro.
"Thank you, Father." he said. "We'll give it everything we've got to stop Destoroyah. But I'll still try to be careful, like you told me."
"I have complete faith in all of you." Goro said. "And remember, you can always rely on your friends."
"I've always known that, Father." Jet Jaguar pulled away and gave Goro one last promising look before he rejoined his friends outside. "You guys ready to move on?" he asked.
When Destoroyah left Beijing, he had flown in the direction of India, so the team decided to search for him there. Godzilla, Anguirus, King Caesar, Minya, and Jr. kept a sharp eye out for him on the ground while Rodan, Mothra, and Jet Jaguar flew above them for an aerial view. So far, nothing was happening. But then the flying kaiju were suddenly blasted by purple energy beams and sent falling to the ground. As the land kaiju rushed to help their friends, a giant shadow flew past them.
Destoroyah. He had assaulted the team, and was headed for India to search for the relics.
"That bastard! We can't let him attack the humans!" Anguirus said.
"Are you guys okay?" Godzilla asked his team members who were shot. "Can you fight?"
"Yeah, we're fine, Godzilla." Rodan said. "Now, let's go stop that punk."
After telling Minya and Jr. to hide, the team confronted Destoroyah at the Junagarh Fort, but they quickly saw that the mutant kaiju was a much more difficult opponent than they anticipated. King Caesar absorbed his micro-oxygen beam, but as the shisa prepared to fire it back at him, Destoroyah grabbed him with his tail and turned him towards the incoming Mothra, making him accidently shoot the energy at her, which she fortunately dodged just in time. She fired her own antenna beams at Destoroyah, but he shrugged them off and slashed at her with his horn katana, missing her twice before striking her beneath her thorax, the impact and blinding pain making her fall, but she was luckily caught by Godzilla, who countered Destoroyah's micro-oxygen beam with his atomic breath.
Anguirus launched himself backwards at the mutant kaiju, his spiked carapace landing a direct hit, but Destoroyah slashed him across his front right leg with his horn katana, then picked him up and threw him at Jet Jaguar, who didn't react quick enough to his incoming ally and fell to the ground in a heap with him. After recovering his senses, the robot flew up close to Destoroyah and blinded him with the spotlights in his eyes. While he was distracted, Rodan flew up from behind him, grabbed him with his talons, and pelted him with fire from his wings. Destoroyah grabbed him by the throat with his tail and threw him, then shot him out of the sky with another micro-oxygen beam.
"Dad and the others look like they're having trouble." Jr. said worriedly. "Do you think we should help them?"
"Dad told us to stay hidden." Minya said. But his voice carried doubt as he said that. He knew he and Jr. would stand little chance against a kaiju like Destoroyah, but his father's team didn't seem to be fairing well, either. A part of him wanted to step in and help, but he wasn't about to admit that in front of his little brother.
"Just give it up, Destoroyah!" Godzilla said irritably. "You're not getting the relics!"
"Since you refuse to tell me where they are, I must find them myself." Destoroyah said. "I will do anything and everything to obtain them, and that includes destroying all of you!" The mutant kaiju shot a ball of energy into the air, which crashed down onto Godzilla's team in a massive explosion, badly injuring all of them. With the heroic kaiju incapacitated, Destoroyah took off flying, ravaging the land below in his search for the relics.
"Dad! Everyone!" Minya exclaimed as he and Jr. ran to help their father and his friends. All of them were drastically weakened and had numerous injuries, too many to count. Godzilla looked weakly up at his sons.
"Boys." he said in a strained voice. He noticed Destoroyah was gone and struggled to sit up and look for him.
"He's heading for Taj Mahal." Minya said. "Dad, what are we gonna do?"
Jr. desperately looked back and forth from Destoroyah to the helpless team. Then his eyes landed on the silk shoulder bag containing the relics they'd collected. They weren't whole yet, but perhaps their power would be enough to vanquish Destoroyah. The idea that came to him was rash, extreme, and very risky, but it was the only one he could think of that would help them.
He grabbed the shoulder bag from Minya and took off towards their mutant enemy.
"Jr., no! Come back!" Minya exclaimed, running after his brother.
"Boys! No-!" Godzilla tried to stand so he could protect his sons from the malevolent mutant, but he was too weak from his injuries and in too much pain. His friends weren't able to help, either. He kept trying, despite his condition, not about to leave his sons to face Destoroyah's might.
Destoroyah reached Taj Mahal and began wrecking havoc on the ivory palace. The famous structure soon gave in to the mutant's terrifying power, but the Relics of Nature did not make an appearance.
"Hmm, they are not here." Destoroyah said, puzzled. "Fine, then. I will search elsewhere."
"Destoroyah!" The mutant turned towards the tremulous voice that called him out and saw Godzilla Jr. standing among the the rubble, the bag containing the relics in his claws, bravely looking the evil kaiju in the eye. But the burst of confidence that brought him to their enemy was swept away when Destoroyah smiled and approached the kaiju prince. Even as he struggled to reach for the relics, Jr. realized-too late-that he had made a terrible mistake.
Minya ran past some rubble that had abruptly fallen before him just in time to see his little brother get impaled through the chest.
Jr. gasped for air and weakly clawed at Destoroyah's pincered tail that had stabbed into him. Blood poured out of the wound and his mouth and splattered to the ground. Destoroyah pulled his tail out, and Jr. slowly collapsed to the ground and released his last breath.
Upon dying, the silk bag had slipped from his hands. The flap sprang open, and the relics floated into the open air before Destoroyah, who smiled with deadly pleasure and cradled them in his hands. But his smile faded when he noticed something was off.
"There are only five." he said. "One is still missing." He looked to Jr.'s body, and his smile returned. "With the death of his son, Godzilla will surely be better coerced into revealing the final relic's location. Lest he lose someone else important to him." He chuckled evilly at this.
All the while, Minya had been watching the scene unfold in stunned silence. So much happened in such a short span of time, he was at first unable to comprehend it all. Then the heavy weight of grief hit him full force. His eyes flashed bright blue, and he gasped and pressed his hands to his aching heart. The glow returned to his tearing eyes, this time lingering, in his underdeveloped dorsal fins as well, just like with his father before-
Minya let out a roar of pain and despair as he unleashed his strongest atomic beam ever, striking Destoroyah in the floral pattern on his chest. The mutant cried out in agony and coughed up a lot of blood, then collapsed backward onto the rubble of the Taj Mahal he just laid waste to.
Minya also went down, exhausted from using more power than he ever had before, and passed out with falling tears.
