"Here you go, Minya." Godzilla said, giving his son some fruit and vegetation to eat. Minya wasn't hungry, but he knew he had to keep his energy up. The kaiju had gathered at a grassy lakeshore not far from Tokyo to rest and treat their physical wounds. Unfortunately, the mental and emotional wounds they suffered wouldn't heal very easily. Jet Jaguar sat far away from his friends, wanting to be alone to mourn his father. Minya looked dejectedly back and forth between the grieving robot and his dispirited father and friends, wandering how it could all collapse so quickly. He sat down beside Godzilla and hugged him, fighting back tears.
Godzilla looked sadly down at his son. With how bad things had gotten, it would be very easy for one to give up all hope. But the determined flame inside the kaiju king stilled burned-it had drastically weakened, but even a little bit of hope was enough to keep them moving forward. Destoroyah still did not have the sixth Relic of Nature, and as long as it was kept out of his wicked hands, Earth still had a chance.
Minya sighed. "How did it all get like this?" he asked.
Godzilla leaned down and nuzzled his son, then looked over to Jet Jaguar, who now shared their pain of losing a family member to Destoroyah. The king and prince went over to their robot friend and sat down with him. They were silent for a few long moments before the rest of the team joined them. Mothra draped her wings over Jet Jaguar's shoulders.
"Too much." she said. "There's been too much death and grief in so little time. First Godzilla Jr., now Dr. Ibuki. Destoroyah is truly a cruel and remorseless monster."
"Damn straight." Anguirus said flatly.
Jet Jaguar held out Goro's remote control, the last part of his father he had left. "The last thing I wanted was for Father to get caught up in our fight." he said sadly. "But Destoroyah targeted him because he knew it'd hurt me."
"That's what makes him so ungodly cruel." Godzilla said grimly. "The sick pleasure he takes in making others suffer."
Jet Jaguar's fingers closed tightly over the remote. "Well, enough is enough. Destoroyah's going to pay for everything he's done." His anger was surprisingly low and composed, but his teammates sensed that it would soon become violent and viscous, to be released upon their sadistic enemy.
"You got that right, Jet." Anguirus agreed. "Are you guys ready to move on, 'cause I can't wait to tear that mutant bastard apart."
"Before we get ourselves into more trouble with Destoroyah," Godzilla said, "we've gotta collect the last relic before he does. So, let's head to Tokyo and obtain it."
When they arrived, Godzilla reached out to a human friend with his mind. Miki? It's Godzilla. We're here in Tokyo. We've got five of the relics, now we just need the last one.
That's wonderful, Godzilla. Miki replied. But I recently had another vision. It was more obscure this time, but I saw the outline of what looked like some dark entity.
Destoroyah. He's the one from the legend 12,000 years ago, not Ghidorah. He was the one the relics sealed away, and now he's back.
Destoroyah? The fear in Miki's voice was crystal clear. He's an even greater threat than Ghidorah. But why didn't I sense him before?
Maybe because he was banished to another dimension, it took longer for you to sense his presence. But that's not important right now. What's important is that the real threat to Earth has revealed himself, and we just need one more relic to defeat him.
Right. The final relic, the Relic of Balance, will appear before those who seek balance above all else. With you being the protector of Earth, it shouldn't be too hard for you to obtain it.
I would say no problem, but we actually do have a problem. Destoroyah took the other relics, and he plans to use their powers to conquer the world. As soon as we collect the sixth relic, we have to get the others back from him.
I know you can do it, Godzilla. Earth is counting on you.
I won't let you down, Miki. I won't let humanity or the planet down.
"So, how do we get the last relic, Big G?" Anguirus asked.
"We need to show the relic that we strive for balance." Godzilla said.
"We'll have to be fast with it." said King Caesar. "We have to get the other relics back from Destoroyah immediately."
"Perhaps, instead of physically showing it our devotion, we could pray to it." Mothra suggested. "It surely would've sensed Destoroyah's presence on Earth, so if we send the relic faithful prayers of our determination to defeat him and restore balance, then it may reveal itself to us."
"If it'll help us get to Destoroyah quickly, then it's worth a try." Godzilla said. He and his friends and son began praying.
Relic of Balance, please hear us. The great evil you and the other five relics vanquished 12,000 years ago has returned. He's already claimed the lives of many innocent humans, including two of our loved ones, and the other relics are in his tyrannical hands. We need your power to help us reclaim them and end his terrifying reign.
Mothra sensed something. A type of power source, one that gave off a sense of balance. "There." she said, pointing towards Tokyo Tower. A faint green light radiated from the base of the structure. The kaiju circled around it and resumed their prayers, hoping they were reaching the relic.
Please, Relic of Balance. Emerge and help us. Help us to defeat the great evil and restore balance to the earth.
The green light shone brighter than before, and a flat piece of green gems in the shape of balanced scales appeared and floated before Godzilla.
"The Relic of Balance." he said.
"Yes, Godzilla. Indeed it is."
The kaiju whipped around at the low, deadly voice. Destoroyah had noiselessly appeared behind them, the other five relics floating beside him. Jet Jaguar growled and clenched his fists, his glowing blue eyes turning red with anger.
"Well done, Godzilla, everyone." Destoroyah said. "You have uncovered the final relic I need for my conquest. You have my thanks."
"Screw your thanks!" Anguirus said. "You'll have to pry the relic off our mangled corpses if you ever hope to get it!"
"Which we're not letting happen." Godzilla said. "We're getting the other relics back from you, and once they're whole, we'll rid the world of you and your brutality forever."
"Retrieving the other five relics from me will be no easy task," Destoroyah said, "but you are welcome to try."
The moment the words left the mutant kaiju's mouth, Jet Jaguar shot straight into battle in a rage. He fired a furious wave of missiles at Destoroyah, which the mutant blocked with his wings. Destoroyah fired his horn beam at Jet Jaguar, who countered it with his own wrist beam. As the attacks exploded, Jet Jaguar clashed with Destoroyah, and they struggled to overpower each other.
"Such powerful emotions coming from a machine." Destoroyah said. "Your father must have been proud to have created you."
"Don't you talk about my father!" Jet Jaguar said angrily. He activated his floodlights-which were now red instead of their usual white or blue-and blinded Destoroyah, then blasted him away with missiles before flying after his enemy.
"Hey! Wait for us!" Anguirus called out, rolling into the battle.
"Yeah, Jet! Let us get in on this, too!" Rodan added, taking flight.
"Minya, take the last relic and hide." Godzilla said. "We'll come find you after we get the other five back."
Minya gave his father a quick hug. "Be careful, everyone." he said worriedly before running to hide with the Relic of Balance.
Anguirus caught up to Destoroyah and rolled into his floral chest pattern, effectively injuring him. Rodan followed up by grabbed him in his talons and burning him with fire from his wings. Destoroyah clawed at them both, but was sent plummeting to the ground by a powerful punch from Jet Jaguar. The mutant stood up to King Caesar headbutting him in his floral pattern. He grabbed the back of the shisa's neck with his tail and held him in place as he fired his horn beam, but King Caesar absorbed it and fired it back at him, combined with Godzilla's atomic breath.
Destoroyah groaned in pain and coughed up blood, irritated and confused. In their previous encounters, he had easily bested Godzilla and his team, yet now they were overpowering him. Mothra flew up to him and formed a cloud of gold scales from her wings. Destoroyah fired his horn beam at her, but the scales deflected it and shot it back at him. He flapped his wings, dissipating the cloud, only for Anguirus to run up to him and bite into his arm. Destoroyah grabbed him with his tail and flung him off, but then he was shot off his feet by Jet Jaguar's wrist beam, who grew slightly larger and pinned him to the ground, repeatedly landing blows.
Jet Jaguar suddenly cried out in pain as he was stabbed through the middle by Destoroyah's horn katana. The mutant freed himself and prepared another strike, but was dropkicked by King Caesar. Anguirus tackled Destoroyah and tried to bite him twice, but the mutant dodged both of them. He pushed the ankylosaurus off of him and prepared to stab him with his horn katana, but Rodan grabbed the enlarged horn and pulled him off-balance, then burned him with fire along with Godzilla's atomic breath and Mothra's antenna beams.
From his hiding spot, Minya's confidence rose as he watched his father and friends winning against Destoroyah at last. So many bad things had happened to them, Destoroyah had caused them so much pain and suffering. Now, with the heroic team having gained the upper hand, Minya was hopeful that this was when they would finally defeat the evil mutant and rid the world of him for good.
Destoroyah leaned forward and grabbed his midsection with a groan. "H-How?" he said in a strained voice. "Before...you could not stand up to my...ferocious might. But now...what is the meaning of this? Why is it me...who is now struggling against you?"
"You've won too much already, Destoroyah." Godzilla said. "The death and destruction you've caused, taking the relics. There's too much at stake for us to lose to you now. We will save the earth from you."
Destoroyah looked annoyed at first, but then he looked at something in his peripheral vision and smiled. He turned and fired his horn beam at the base of a building, making it explode. Minya cried out in pain as he was sent flying, landing hard and clutching his midsection.
"Minya!" Godzilla exclaimed, running to help his son. Destoroyah slashed the king across the face with his tail, then flew over to Minya and wrapped his tail around his throat. The mutant rose higher in the air, dragging the injured and weakened Minya with him.
"I shall be in Osaka, Godzilla." Destoroyah said. "You have one hour to bring me the last relic, or your bloodline ends."
Right after Destoroyah flew off with Minya in tow, the Relic of Balance rose up from where the prince landed and flew over to Godzilla. The king cradled the relic in his hands, then looked vengefully after the mutant who captured his son.
"Now Destoroyah's gone too far." Godzilla said coldly. "Let's go, guys."
Sharing their king's anger, the team hurried to Osaka, more determined than ever to make their enemy atone for his crimes.
