Charlie and Vaggie
- I can't do this anymore! – Charlie sits up in the bed - Who did you draw? – she asks directly.
- Only a day has passed and you already can't keep the order of Secret Santa? – Vaggie asks calmly, lying in bed and reading a book.
- I knooooow, but I don't want to buy presents alone. – Charlie says turning towards Vaggie - Also I am sure that you didn't draw me, because your actions would definitely betray you.
- I'm not that easy to read. – Vaggie answers offended. Charlie snuggles up to her and kisses her cheek.
- If you say so. – she lays next to her - So tell me! I didn't draw you either.
- Charlie. – Vaggie slowly shakes her head.
- Pleeeeeeease! – Charlie meows.
- Urgh fine. – Vaggie puts down the book - Husker.
- Husker? That's easy. – says Charlie.
- Oh really? – Vaggie raises her eyebrow.
- He is an alcoholic so you just buy any kind of drink and you are good. – says Charlie straightens up proudly.
- That's a shallow present. – Vaggie throws out.
- Then it's perfect for you. – Charlie replies mockingly. Vaggie faces her.
- Why do you mock me? – she asks her questioningly - What's wrong?
- I'm sorry I just... – Charlie looks away - I don't know what to buy for Mira. – her voice is full of regret, apology and desperation.
- Uh now that is a tough one. – says Vaggie – Still you shouldn't hurt me.
- I know. I'm sorry. – says Charlie as she faces Vaggie again - Until some month ago I didn't even know that I have an aunt. – both stays quiet for a second. A long lost family member back again. – What should I do now Vaggie?
- I know! Why don't you ask your father? – says Vaggie - He knows her.
- You are a genius! – Charlie throws her arms around Vaggie's neck and gives a huge kiss on her lips - I knew you could help! Obviously my father knows everything about his little sister!
Charlie picks up her cellphone from the nightstand and dials. After a few second Lucifer answers her call.
- Hello?
- Dad? It's me!
- Charlotte! My baby girl! – says Lucifer joyfully.
- Dad... Don't call me that! – Charlie scolds her father.
- How are you my dear? – says Lucifer like he didn't hear the scold.
- I'm fine, thank you. – says Charlie a bit hesitantly - Look I just called because...
- Because you are coming over? – Lucifer interrupts her.
- What? No! – shouts Charlie.
- I tell your mother to bake your favourite cookies. – says Lucifer.
- No! Listen! – shouts Charlie - I just want to ask you something!
- You can ask me anything baby when you arrive. See you! – Lucifer hangs up the phone.
- Wait! Dad!
- He hung up? – asks Vaggie.
- He hung up. – Charlie collapses next to Vaggie - I have to go home to meet him.
- Want me to come? – asks Vaggie.
- Aww yes please, that would be amazing! – Chalie kisses her slowly - I love you!
- I love you too! – says Vaggie - Let's get ready.
The taxi runs fast towards the huge house. As soon as they get out of the car Lucifer opens the front door.
- Charlotte! – he opens his arms for a hug.
- Dad! – Charlie runs into Lucifer's arms. Despite of all the bad thing he is her father. Lucifer holds her tight. Her little baby. How big she has grown. He nurses her in his arms. My sweet angel! – he thinks.
- Urgh Dad? – Charlie groans - You can let me go now.
- Ah yes yes. – Lucifer let's her go quickly - I'm just happy to see you. Hello Vaggie! – he welcomes Vaggie just like an old family member.
- Good morning sir! – Vaggie says, still feels awkward after so many years.
- Come on in you two, don't make your mother wait any longer. – Lucifer leads them to the livingroom, where Lillith is waiting for them.
- Charlie! – she gets up to welcome her daughter.
- Mom! – Charlie hugs her too. She used to be a daddy's daughter but after she moved out her relationship grew stronger with her mother.
- I'm so happy to see you my dear. How are you? – Lillith looks down to her with a gentle smile. She brushes a mop of hair out of Charlie's face.
- I'm fine Mom. I'm happy to see you too. – Charlie's eyes are glowing with admiration as she looks up to her mother. Vaggie shift one feet to the other in the background. It was always awkward for her to see this family. Hers was awful and after some year her parents divorced. Then the real horror begun.
- Sit down please. – Lillith gestures towards the sofa.
Charlie and Vaggie sits next to each other opposite to Lucifer and Lillith. The air gets a bit thick in the room.
- Tell me, how's the Hotel? – Lucifer jumps right to the topic he is interested in, and the one that Charlie wants to avoid all the time.
- It's fine really. – Charlie plays with a mop of hair - We are doing our job.
- Mira too? – Lucifer's face darkens. He becomes a bit scary. Her face says „if my sister does anything wrong to my daughter again I kick her ass for sure".
- Yes she is a great help. Actually Dad that's what I wanted to ask about. – says Charlie happily as the topic changed from the Hotel to something else - I want to ask for a tiny bit of hint what to buy for her for Christmas. We did Secret Santa and I drew her.
- Hmm – Lucifer eases up - tough question. – he thinks for a second - She used to love unicorns.
- When she was 5. – says Lillith.
- Well yes, but what if she still does? – Lucifer faces his wife.
- I want to give her a more serious gift. – interrupts Charlie.
Silence fills the room. Everyone is concentrating hard. They are deep in their thoughts when Lucifer finally has something to say.
- What about a mug? – says he.
- Dad... – Charlie looks at her Dad with pity.
- Socks? – another idea of Lucifer.
- Seriously? – Charlie stares at her Dad in disbelieve.
- She used to have a pin. – says Lillith - Why don't you give her a new one?
- Good idea my love! – Lucifer praises his wife - But with what symbol?
- What was on the last one? – asks Charlie.
- Have you never seen it before? – asks Lucifer.
- Aaaa nope. – says Charlie. She thought about it for a second, but she's never seen it on Mira.
- It's an apple. –says Lucifer with a bit of sadness in his voice - It was our symbol of the rebellion.
- But isn't it the symbol of our family now? – wondering Charlie.
- Of course it is, the meaning has changed over the centuries, but for her it still means the same. – Lucifer starts - As you remember she betrayed you, she fought for her dream to get back to Heaven. That apple reminds her why she has been banned from Heaven. So now she needs to have a new symbol, a new purpose to live for.
- So what kind of symbol should be on it? – asks Charlie.
Suddenly a demon enters the room.
- I'm sorry to bother you sir, but Mr. Merolon has arrived. – says the demon.
- Oh right! Thank you Gerald! Sorry dear but I have an important business meeting. – says Lucifer as he stands up.
- But what about the pin? – says Charlie.
- I'll think about it dear and I'll let you know okay? – Lucifer goes up to Charlie and kisses her forehead as a goodbye.
- Come my child I'll accompany you to the front door. – says Lillith and Charlie and Vaggie gets up to leave.
As they get to the door Charlie turns to face her mother.
- Thank you Mom for the hospitality! – says she. She is very disappointed.
- Anytime my dear. We are a family after all. – Lillith says as she is about to close the door. – Oh, I almost forgot. Here, take this. – she puts something into Charlie's palm. Charlie opens her palm to see it.
- A pin! – she smiles and examines it - But wait, isn't it an apple tree on it? How would this give Mira a different meaning of life?
Lillith smiles at her daughter and says gently.
- It is indeed an apple tree. Hopefully this will say to her, no matter how far the apple falls, it is still connected to the tree. – she winks – And Vaggie! Give this bottle of ambrosia to Husk. He'll love it. – Lillith handles the bottle to her.
- But I didn't say who I drew! How did you know? – Vaggie says.
- That shall be my secret. – says Lillith and she closes the door behind the girls.
