Sorry for the lack of updates as of late. As you all have guessed by the title, Beyond the Black is being heavily edited and cleaned up now that I have a proper plan in place and mapped out how I want it to go. I am combining chapters, deleting chapters that are basically there as fillers. Chapters for the sake of getting something out. As it site right now, I'll admit plot wise this story is a dumpster fire. A kind of entertaining one, but it needs cleaned up hard. I am hoping to get it up to date with my current writing style as best i can (A good chunk of it I wrote in High school when i should have been doing homework). Criteria I have put in place for chapters goes as follows to help clean it up, make it easier and hopefully more enjoyable to read.
1: No chapters under 5k words. Reason being is a personal preference. If it's not at least 5k, it isn't worth reading. Combine with the next closest chapter story wise to help make room and to have a better word/chapter ratio in my opinion.
2: No fillers. Enough said here, I've been noticing that filler chapters tend to be the death of Fanfictions and lead to faster burn out. Either editing them to include more plot devices or character development. I am notorious for fillers and I admit it. With a new less stress filled job now, I should be back to producing more quality chapters soon.
3: Edit anything that either interferes to already established points, anything majorly OOC, and fix spelling/grammer mistakes as I find them. Rereading this through after a three year Hiatus, I notice the early chapters are horrific in that department.
Not much but it needs done. As the old saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day". This will take time. I'll include another Author's note to inform you, my loyal readers, when the editing is done for your opinions on it. Feel free to PM me mistakes I might miss or include valid criticism to help this grow. Thank you all for staying with me though this. I figure this is the best way to get back in the saddle and get my writing style back to where I like it.
