Chapter 5:

AN: Someone has been very kind and gave me a story request, so that's fun, my attention span is basically 0, so the fact that I'm getting this far is amazing, but I will persevere! Now, onto the story!

At this point, nothing should surprise him anymore. L thought he had seen it all with Beyond Birthday and his Shinigami Eyes, and with Light and the Death Note, but magic was a little hard to believe. He finally acquiesced and decided it was best to begin believing and quickly.

A talking portrait had led him back to the big room that he and Light had landed in, and he began investigating. He vaguely remembered one of the pictures, a safari scene with a plumb old explorer on it, mention that whatever had produced that blue flame and bring them here was being taken into a side room, and that the rest of the people whose name's came out of the cup would convene once he and Light would awaken, so there they were, Light being dragged along to wherever L, or now Ryuuzaki, was dragging him, and Ryuuzaki was exploring every nook and cranny, creating percentages as they went, so far he had a pretty good list;

- He has a 2% chance of escape from this castle, because whatever he did to the front door would not work, and he doubted it would

- The four big tables were probably for school children, so he correctly assumed when Beard-san said that he was in a tournament that he was in a school, then he was only 40% sure, now he was certain

- Based on Light's behavior, he dropped the Kira percentage from 23% to 21%, Kira would not willingly chain himself to his opponent completely without malice, and Ryuuzaki could feel no ill will with Light now

A small man, that looked very official beckoned both Ryuuzaki and Light towards him, and into a small antechamber where a boy wearing black and yellow, a gruff looking, fur clad boy, and a blonde girl all stood.

"Vell? Vere hav you been all zis time?" The blonde girl asked, a little annoyed at the duo, since they had to wait multiple hours for them and couldn't head off and celebrate with their respective schools.

"I apologize, miss, but both me and my friend were knocked unconscious by our arrival, and would very much appreciate if you held a little more patience, as apparently my brother who I did not know existed should join us as well". The blonde was sufficiently okay with the answer Ryuuzaki gave her, and went back to talking to her school head, a giant of a woman, dressed in a large red silk robe – fur trimmed – of course. Light studied the room, and tried to not let his emotions show on his face. The paintings and even the stained glass in the small antechamber were moving, and Light was still getting used to the whole 'magic is real' business.

The older man that had talked with Ryuuzaki and his 'family' had taken that specific opportunity to walk in, his hand on the chubby red-headed boy's shoulder. Chubby-kun, as Ryuuzaki affectionately named him, was scowling, and red in the face. Dumbledore-san's grip whitened his knuckles, very clearly in annoyance. His eyes began twinkling in sudden greed when his gaze landed on Ryuuzaki, like he was a very precious commodity.

"Well, now that everyone is here, I believe that we should begin the introduction to the Triwizard Tournament. This is Barty Crouch Sr, and Ludo Bagman, their two departments are working side by side to make sure that everything that goes on within this tournament goes off without a hitch."

The man in the bowler hat, Crouch Sr, Light thinks, looked at the chain Ryuuzaki and he were held together with, and scrunched his eyebrows in admonishment,

"why must you have that ghastly chain around your wrists, what in the name of Merlin could it possibly be for?" Ryuuzaki guessed that Merlin must be some form of deity or powerful person that they worshipped or looked up to.

"I am in the middle of a serial murder investigation, and this is my prime suspect, he has a 21% chance of being the murderer, so he must be in my constant surveillance. I am Ryuuzaki by the way" Everyone gaped at the small, 14-year-old hunched detective. Ryuuzaki didn't seem to care, he only squatted on his chair and started snacking. Where in the world did he get so many snacks?

"Okay, well... I would like to introduce to you, champions, the leaders of the Triwizard Tournament! Ludo Bagman is the organizer, and Barty Crouch Sr. over here is staying to make sure that we stay within the law!" Beardy-san now acknowledged the champions in the room, he would have continued, but he wasn't able to, when the Bulgarian Headmaster cut him off.

"Dumbledore, you cannot just avoid the fact that you have two people that represent you school? That is an unfair! Why is the Boy-Who-Lived even here? He is not a champion, this is a champion only meeting!" Dumbledore's eyes began to twinkle madly, almost searing his gaze into the man, and he seemed to slink back, but the giantess took a stand.

"Oui Dumblydore. You cannot have a non-champion child be here, both are underage!" The blonde beside her nodded along with her Headmistresses reasoning, and both Light and L could see the truth to her words, Chubby-kun should not even be in the antechamber! Chubby-kun sneered, and was about to go off, probably on a tirade about being the best boy or something like that, Ryuuzaki quickly shut him up with a jab to the torso.

While he was busy wheezing on the ornate stone floor, the other Heads of Schools were deciding what to do with the extra champion situation. Ryuuzaki had just mentioned that he could represent the orphanage that he was raised in, Whammy's House. Light filed away the knowledge that L was raised in an orphanage away for later. The others seemed happy with this work-around, but Dumbledore insisted that Harry, as he constantly called him, and refused to call him anything else than that or 'my boy', be sorted into Hogwarts, along with Light, even if he was 19, and too old for Hogwarts. He also had the audacity to say that the public would like to see their Boy Wonder in action during the Three Tasks throughout the school year.

He had said something along the lines of, 'Boosting School Moral' and 'Increasing media attention so that the tournament can continue'. Everyone really knew what he meant. He wanted his boy to show off his nonexistent magical knowledge and power, and to fake the abilities of the borderline-overweight fourteen year old.

Barty Crouch sneered from his position in his corner, as did the Durmstrang Headmaster, Karkaroff. Bagman just looked ecstatic, he was a Boy-Who-Lived fanatic, and he did completely ignore every single complaint from the people that said that the Potter family (minus little Rose) were horrid people. The rest were apathetic, Ryuuzaki included, he didn't really care, he needed out of the school so he could get back to investigating Kira.

The meeting had been over for a while now, with the original Hogwarts champion celebrating with his House, and the other schools celebrating in the lodgings they brought with them. Ryuuzaki and Light didn't have any place to go, but they were supposed to follow Beardy-san up into his tower so the could 'join' the Hogwarts populace. Light ended up dragging the tiny detective along the stairs, and even let L ride on his shoulders when L decided that he wasn't going to move from the balustrade of the staircase.

They entered the office past the moving staircase and living gargoyle. The room had been packed full with gizmos, and gadgets that made beep and zing noises every couple seconds. How Beardy-san could live with the noise was beyond Light. Ryuuzaki could appreciate the noise, it would sometimes drown out his genius, but it was annoying after a while. The old man grabbed an equally old-looking hat off of a bookshelf and first motioned to Light to get on the chair that he had conjured a second ago. The hat was small enough for Light, or maybe Light was big enough for the hat, that it did not fall through to his eyes.

Hm, Yagami Light, also known as Kira, yes yes, I know about your escapades and your fight for justice, though might I add, you are going about this way wrong. Light didn't know what to think of the hat, but freaked out about his identity, thinking the hat said it out loud.

Oh no no no Mr. Yagami, everything I say is in your head. I see that you have oceans of cunning, and smarts, smarter even than your little detective friend, you aren't exceptionally brave, but that deep-buried loyalty to your friends is emerging. Probably after spending time with little L. Light thought that the hat would tell him L's name, but after a thought he realized that he would not even write it down, since L had changed him so.

I believe, young Yagami, that you would be best in SLYTHERIN! (I mean whoulda thunk?)

Once Light left the stool, Ryuuzaki clambered on, squatting as best as he could with the small stool-space that he had. This time, his spiky head made the hat balance precariously on top of his hair-line.

Hello L Lawliet, don't freak out, no one can hear me but you. You are absolutely smart, you solved your first case at 4? Good job! You do have some cunning, chaining yourself to Mr. Yagami to either prove his innocence or guilt. The fact that you keep your identity a secret is also quite marvelous. I believe that you should also head to...

SLYTHERIN!

AN: Hello everyone! Hope you enjoyed! I had a lot of fun and I hope you had some as well. I am having a little trouble coming up with ideas, but I have a shit ton of them for future chapters, so expect the next one by the end of August!

So... Dumbles is manipulative as always, and Chubby-kun (Charlie Potter) is going to make a fool of himself as always! Yay :)

ANYways, reviews are food, and flames burn my mouth and soul. Any ideas, both for this story or anything else are lovely!
