Doctor Who
A Siren's Song
Chapter Eight
The doors to the Fishermen's Hole swing open as the Doctor and Darla entered. The place grew quiet as all eyes were on them. Nodding to Darla, she followed The Doctor to the counter and sat at the bar. Ignoring the cat calls Darla, she scanned over the room. From men looking at her from the tables to the ones holding pints and glaring from the dart game, she became the center of attention. Darla's nose wrinkle at the smell of cigarette smoke as she remained calm. The Doctor merely smiled as he tapped the counter.
The bartender came over, smiling cautiously. "What can I get for you, sir?"
" A pint, my good man," The Doctor said.
Nodding, the bartender poured him a mug of beer, which the Timelord swallowed with one gulp soon after a few more pints followed.
Standing up, The Doctor swayed back and forth. Darla went to help him. He shook his head as a few hiccups escaped his lips. He wandered over toward the dart game and joined the men in darts, followed by singing a loud sailor song that everyone, even the bartender, joined in.
Backing up slowly, Darla glance around with everyone engrossed in the song Darla made her way around the counter as she followed fading aura residue. Stopping at the door, Darla turned the knob and sighed when the door didn't budge. Yet when she tried it again, the door opened. Glancing over at The Doctor, he winked as he slipped his sonic screwdriver back in his pocket and kept on singing.
Nodding, Darla slipped inside, shutting the door behind her. Taking a deep breath, she continued down the hall.
Hang on Dana, I'm coming
Back at the bakery, a few military cars pulled up with men in uniforms. After a few moments, a man opened a car door and walked up to the door. Deidre stared as the man knocked on the door. From a green stripped long sleeve sweater with gold metals on his shoulders, with a black sash around his waist to a green barret on his head with a gold medal in the middle that read UNIT.
Deidre's eyes flicker as she noticed a stern green aura from the man, along with a hint of mint that tickled her nose.
Peeking out the door window, relief washed over Jo the moment she noticed that stern, familiar face looking back at her.
"The man at the door, is that him, the Brigadier?" Deidre asked.
"Yes, his full name is Brigadier Gordon Lethbridge Stewart. He and his men will help us," Jo said before opening the door.
"Ms. Grant," Brigadier said to Jo before staring back at the young woman who approached him.
"Hello Brigadier, my name is Deidre Zarland. I am a siren from the planet, Sirena," Deidre said.
"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Zarland," The Brigadier said.
Deidre looked at the floor before taking a deep breath. "I was the one who kidnapped the men from the dock. I was trying to find my sisters. While I found one, I may lose another... I'm sorry."
"Thank you for telling me this," the Brigadier said before turning to Jo. "I take it there is more to the story?"
"Lots more." Jo replied.
"The Doctor?" The Brigadier asked.
"At the Fisherman's Hole, things are about to get serious."
" Let's go. I think he's going to need all the help he can get."
Meanwhile, walking down the street, Garrett noticed the influx of new vehicles in the town. His eyes narrowed when he noticed the military like uniforms. Glancing around, he gave stares to men on the street. But they ran into their homes, grabbing their wives and kids. Shutting the doors and locking them, the streets grew quiet as a few peaked out their windows.
Gritting his teeth, Garrett scoffed and headed toward the pub. Guess he would have to deal with going on himself.
Meanwhile, wandering down a long hallway at the pub, Darla stood back as she spotted Jason and John sitting on either side of the door at the end of the hall. Looking down at certain aura, it led to the door and saturated it.
I found you
Stepping back against the wall, the door opened and out walked Charlie. He went to grab a danish from Jason who shot him a glare.
"Fine, I'll be back," Charlie said, walking down the hall.
The moment Charlie unlocked the door at the other end of the hall, Darla stepped out of the shadows. Her eyes flicker as she walked toward the two men. Soon, a cerulean mist rolled towards Jason and John. Jelly dripped from John's mouth as he noticed Darla. Jason looked up and noticed her as well.
Not a word left their lips as the mist swirled around both men, squeezing tightly around their necks. The more mist they inhaled, the more clouded their minds became as their bodies along with their minds were frozen in place.
Darla stopped in front of the door. Ripping the keys off John, Darla tried a few keys before one fit perfectly in the keyhole. Taking a deep breath, she turned the key and placed her hand on the doorknob.
Fear rose into Darla's throat. She knew Dana was on the other side of this door; she was sure of it. But the thought of what condition she was in scared her. Would she be clinging to life or near the end of it? Shaking her head, turned the key and opened the door.
Once inside, Darla closed her eyes. A putrid odor danced around her nose, while a rattling noise echoed through her ears. But it was a whisper that brought a tear to her eyes.
"Sister?" a horse voice asked.
Opening her eyes, Darla looked upon a little sister. Her skin held a mixture of dirt, blood, bruises, and cuts. A cell separated them from hugging, so all Dana could do was use the bars to pull to herself up and look into her sister's eyes. As pain plague though her body, a huge smiled spread across Dana's lips.
"I am so glad to see you, I thought..." Dana tried to finish, but a coughing fit stopped her.
Walking over, Darla put her hand through the cell bars, gently touching Dana's bruised cheek.
"Don't worry, I'm going to get you out of here." Darla said.
Dana dropped to her knees as a wound on her leg tore open. Darla got on her knees as well. She was about to reach out to the wound when she felt something sharp poke the back of her neck.
"Bad move Darla, you're in trouble now," a familiar voice said.
"Oh no, Charlie, you're the one in trouble now," Darla said as her voice deepened and the once cerulean blue aura changed to a reddish orange.
