Chapter 12: History and Pain

Back in the secret hideout of Tpyhon DeLeon, the Vault Hunters followed behind the legend himself. He commanded his bots to stand guard as a means to prevent anyone or thing from interfering with Typhon DeLeon's directory. As they reached a cliffside, Typhon DeLeon turned to face the two while bringing his hands to his hips sighing.

"This laser whip's been handy. Helps me keep up in my sundowns years. Plus, whips are great! Lasers, too," DeLeon spoke before the ground began to shake again causing the Typhon to turn and make his way to what looked like a tunnel with four pedestals placed in front of it. "By now you've figured out Pandora's planet-sized Vault. Eridians called it 'The Great Vault' or something. A long time ago, they crammed an inter-dimensional monstrosity in there called the Destroyer. Wasn't easy...but they did it. The Eridians sacrificed their whole civilization to lock that thing away. They were smart, those aliens. The Eridians had a backup plan, just in case, someone was meshugga enough to release the Destroyer. If that happens, well...they named it the Destroyer for a reason. Behind this door is an astrokinetic Vault-powered phase engine, something or other. I just call it "the machine". Pretty nifty. And the colors! Those Eridians knew how to make an entrance, right? This was the machine that locked away the Destroyer the first time. And it can do it again, too! But we need four Vault Keys to get in. You already got three of 'em, right?"

"Yes sir," Moze answered walking up beside Smoke.

"Then let's put hem in," Smoke added before the two started to insert the three Vault Key's they had on hand while Typhon DeLeon told them a small history lesson on each key placed in a pedestal.

"There's one last key and I know where it is! Head's up, though - it's kind of a schlep! And it won't be easy! Eh, but I'm sure you're up for it. You're Vault Hunters! Like me!" DeLeon spoke before pulling out his gun maker once more and facing the Crimson Raider members. "On the house, Vault Hunters. You're gonna need it!"

Moze nodded her head while Smoke merely rolled his eyes at this as Typhon DeLeon shot out another gun from the Eridian weapon. The soldier walked to the gun and picked it up before holstering it onto her back.

"Maliwan's set up a butt-load of bases between us and the Vault. This is exactly why I tried to keep Nekrotafeyo a secret in the first place, but I guess that bird's out of its cage. You gotta get the last key. I hid it near the Vault," DeLeon instructed earning a nod from Moze and Smoke.

"Don't worry about it, man. We got this...after all...we both have a lot of steam to blow off..." Smoke said with a grin earning a chuckle from DeLeon.

"Good to know. Now, there's a bridge that leads to Vault-side. Head there, and good luck with Maliwan...even though you don't need it," DeLeon spoke with a faint chuckle.

"Much appreciated," Smoke said before the Vault Hunters made their way back up to topside.

As they exited the hideout, Smoke could not help but groan loudly while rubbing the back of his head in frustration.

"Alright so I got an idea on how to deal with all this bullshit as fast as possible, Smoke said turning to look at Moze who blinked her eyes in confusion.

"If you are annoyed at your idea...it must be very active," Moze said tilting her head slightly.

"Yeah. We'll be using Iron Bear X: Sentinel variant to make our way to our destination. When we spot the enemies...cause I'm sure they are here...we'll be taking them out from a distance," Smoke said looking at Moze then forward as he hopped up into the air causing Iron Bear to construct itself around the inventor along with Moze.

Once Iron Bear X was fully operational, Smoke merely activated its fusion function to have it shift to its Sentinel variant before they flew off to their destination. A second later, Typhon DeLeon's voice was heard through the ECHO-3.

"I'll bet when you saw me you said t yourself, 'THAT's the first Vault Hunter? This guy? Ha!' People have been underestimating me my whole life. But like I always say: heroes come in all shapes and sizes! Anyway, keep heading towards the bridge. I'm gonna check in with your people and let'em know what's up," DeLeon notified before hanging up.

"He got me good actually...I did not think much of him when he introduced himself...but if Tannis adores him so much then he must be an okay guy," Smoke said with a scuff as they continued to fly to their destination.

"Hey, just got a...rambling message from Typhon DeLeon, something about a machine and another Vault Key. He seems to like you both. Do us proud, killers," Lilith notified on comms.

"Well, that is surprising," Smoke said with a faint chuckle.

"How so?" Moze asked glancing at Smoke.

"I don't care about him...but I do respect him a little for trying to keep such a big secret," Smoke answered with a shrug.

Upon reaching their destination, the ECHO-3 picked up on a new voice line causing Smoke to blink his eyes.

"I've been waiting for this a long time, Vault Hunters. This is General Daniel Traunt, and you're the feckless SOB who killed my little brother Samuel on Athenas. Well, Tyreen Calypso said you'd show up sooner or later. I taught Sammy how to fight, but you taught him how to die. And now I'm gonna teach YOU! How to...how to die. Just to be clear. TRAUNT!" The transmission spoke causing Smoke to laugh.

"Who the fuck is this bitch?" Smoke asked looking over at Moze who groaned softly.

"I killed his brother at Athenas...when Maya was still alive. He was a difficult opponent since he had fire and ice throwers and turrets," Moze explained with a heavy sigh.

"Well that was before J and I came along," Smoke pointed out with a grin. "We'll make quick work of him...cause we got more important stuff to deal with,"

"Agreed," Moze said nodding her head.

As they continued, Iron Bear X's radar started to pick up multiple hostiles moving in on their location.

"And here come the welcoming community," Smoke said swaying his hands about. "You got full use of all guns. Just lock on and Iron Bear X will do the rest,"

"Got it," Moze replied as Smoke swayed his hands upward causing Iron Bear X began to rise to the sky.

This limited how much the enemies could do while keeping their actions open. Smoke laughed at this while Moze began to rain hell on the Maliwan special forces. No matter how much they tried to shoot down Iron Bear X, their bullets were met with either piercing rounds from the flame rifle, railgun beams, mortar shells, or grenades. After five minutes of constant bombardment and flying in the air slowly, the area was covered in corpses and craters of where the mortar touched down on. Seeing that the enemies were wiped out, Iron Bear began to descend and levitate two feet off the ground while scanning its surroundings.

"Easy," Smoke said as he coughed loudly while bringing his hand to his mask in a means to keep it on.

Moze peaked over to Smoke as if to ask but was stopped as the inventor raised his hand to stop her.

"I'm good," Smoke said before inhaling the weed within his mask chuckling. "Ahh damn, that's good,"

"...okay...then let's move on," Moze said shaking her head and looking forward with Iron Bear X advancing.

"Holy granoli, what a battle! You're amazing!" DeLeon spoke over comms. "Remind me not to get on your bad side,"

"Pah! Those were just scrubs. Let's see how you square up against my elites!" Traunt spoke confidently through the radio as three Maliwan mechs crashed down into the ground ten feet in front of Iron Bear X.

"These scraps of metals are your elites? Bitch please," Smoke said as Iron Bear X began to fly back into the sky only for two of the enemy mechs to jump up and take hold of the Sentinel variant before bringing it back down.

"GET THE FUCK OFF MY MECH!" Moze shouted bringing the rail gun to the mech on the left while having the piercing rifle aim down at the opposite side.

"Let's get it!" Smoke called out with a mad laugh as both guns shot into the Maliwan mechs.

Both rounds ran through the Maliwan mechs with ease causing both to release their grips on Iron Bear as they fell to the ground. With both taken care of, Moze and Smoke turned their attention to the last mech which charged forward and rammed Iron Bear X into a nearby building pinning it in place. Moze held her own while Smoke was shaken by the impact causing his mask to come off for a brief second.

"This mothafucka!" Smoke said with wide eyes while swaying his hands about.

This caused the rail gun to form and slam into the mech's head staggering it for a bit. This gave Moze a chance to kick the Maliwan mech back far enough for the remaining three guns to race toward the enemy pinning it into the ground while the railgun was aimed at its core. Moze smirked at this and fired the railgun watching as its core was shot through before it fell motionless.

"Elites my ass," Smoke said fixing his mask. "Good shooting soldier,"

Moze only nodded at this as a means to acknowledge the inventor's compliment.

"Huh. Back in my day, the thugs would shut down a force field instead of jumping over it. Nothing you can't fly over though, am I right," DeLeon commented earning a chuckle from Smoke.

"Yups. Over we go," Smoke said swaying his hands as Iron Bear X flew over the force field and continued onward.

"All right! The bridge to Vault-side is just up ahead," DeLeon notified before another voice interrupted.

"Suck on my big-brother-sized balls, Vault Hunters. TRAUUUNT!" The general shouted over comms as the bridge blew up.

"...really?" Moze said unimpressed.

"Oh no...the bridge...how will we ever go over such a far distance? I guess we'll have to fly over it like we did the barrier," Smoke sarcastically spoke swaying his right hand forward with a soft chuckle as Iron Bear X started to slowly fly over the gap while being at the ready.

"It's nice to have some company for a change. Haven't had anyone human to talk to for years. See, I crash-landed decades ago. I've been marooned here ever since. I had to get real creative to survive here. You wanna hear my secret? Get this: I'm really smart. I always say, smart's good, too! You can fit in places. And ugly's the best. People don't wanna look at ya! Perfect for sneakin'. And I do my share of sneakin'! Since Maliwan showed up. I've been nabbin' tech and listenin' in on their ECHOs. Great products, but piss-poor security...if you're smart!" Typhon spoke earning a nod from Smoke.

"I can agree with that. Maliwan ain't the best when it comes to security unless it is manned by someone sharp...or an AI. Traunt...ain't one of them. Hell, I had to make my security system when I worked for them...and that's saying something," Smoke ranted while shaking his head. "Stupid..."

Suddenly Ellie called in to give a sitrep on Vaughn about Pandora shaking like an ice skag having a fever dream. After Ellie hung up, Tannis started up and began to lightly flirt with Typhon causing Smoke's eyes to narrow.

"Vault Hunters, when you get the chance..can you get Typhoon DeLeon's autograph for me...and a lock of his hair...for research purposes," Tannis spoke through telekinesis causing Smoke to grumble to himself.

"No promises Tannis but we'll try," Moze answered with a faint laugh of her own.

By the time they got over to the other side of the bridge, a familiar voice tapped in once more causing Smoke to roll his eyes.

"This mothafucka is pissing me off!" Smoke shouted with an annoyed tone.

"Your journey ends here, Vault Hunters. I'm gonna END you, for my name is Daniel Traunt!" The general shouted through the ECHO-3.

"Good. So we can shut this guy up now. His speeches and threats are killing my brain cells," Smoke said shaking his head.

With Iron Bear X now in front of the Vault, the two Vault Hunters saw Traunt scream at the top of his lungs before launching himself toward them. Smoke only scuffed before swaying his hands forward causing all four guns to merge to create a single Ion Beam Cannon with Traunt right in front of it.

"Traunt this bitch," Smoke commented as Moze pulled the trigger firing the cannon and enveloping the heavy general in pure raw destructive energy.

As the beam died down, nothing was left of Traunt while the Ion Beam cannon split back into its four weapons. Moze could not help but blink at the weapon that was made in front of her eyes before glancing down at the inventor.

"What was that?" Moze questioned with a raised brow.

"Particule Ion Beam Fusion Cannon. A combination of all four weapons packed into one...sadly it can be shot only once before it needs to recharge," Smoke explained completely. "Now...onward! Also keep me updated on anything important with Typhon DeLeon," Smoke notified while looking at Moze.

"...you owe me," Moze said narrowing her eyes causing Smoke to nod his head and face front while the two continued forward.

As they advanced, Typhon was explaining how he found Nekrotafeyo as well as some juicy details on his honeymoon with his wife. Meanwhile, Moze was blasting any enemy marked on Iron Bear X's radar only for the soldier to come to a complete stop about the story of DeLeon's kids.

"Smoke...I think Typhon is the father of the Calypso's," Moze said casing Smoke to come to a stop and turn around to face the soldier.

"What now?" Smoke asked blinking his eyes.

"From what DeLeon is telling us...he had twins with his wife...and to keep them still he would tell them stories of his adventures. How else would Tyreen know about the Great Vault?" Moze explained causing Smoke to rub the back of his head with his right hand.

"Well shit...that just makes this weird," Smoke said looking at the ground.

"What do you mean?" Moze asked tilting her head.

"If what your saying is a fact then J is currently getting busy with the Legendary Vault Hunters daughter AND we killed his son," Smoke pointed out while looking back at Moze. "So we might have to be cautious when around DeLeon..."

Moze nodded her head in agreement before Iron Bear X continued to the Vault. The battle continued to the point where Lieutenant Preston came with the second crystal to power the elevator. After Iron Bear X realigned the statues, upon DeLeons instructions, and causing the elevator to rise.

"So you made it to Nekrotafeyo," Tyreen said followed by the sound of slow clapping being heard through the ECHO-3. "Slow clap...cause your slow. Always playing catch-up, aren't you? All that's left on that planet is dust and demons. Trust me,"

"WHERE'S J YOU BITCH!" Smoke shouted at the ECHO-3 expecting an answer only to be met with silence.

"You're wasting your time. The Destroyer's almost here, and when I consume it, I'm gonna be a god. I know you're listening, Dad. Are you proud of your little girl?" Tyreen spoke causing Moze and Smoke to narrow their eyes.

"Unmute Typhon DeLeon! I wanna hear what this guy has to say," Smoke said swaying his hand to hear the legendary vault hunter's response.

"Tyreen...Starlight..." DeLeon replied causing Lilith to answer as well revealing how confused they all were.

"Well, shit..." Smoke whispered while blinking his eyes.

"You weren't gonna tell them, were you, Dad? Oops. Well, Vault Thieves, guess who taught us everything we needed to know to take this galaxy apart piece by piece? Typhon DeLeon. The first vault hunter. Oh, Dad, by the way? Troy's dead. Your friends there killed him. So...have fun with that," Tyreen spoke before finally cutting out of the ECHO-3.

"So you were right on the mark Smoke," Moze said looking to the inventor.

"You were on the mark...DeLeon merely proved it himself.." Smoke said sighing.

"Vault Hunters, the Guardians know you're here. Fight'em off. We'll talk later," Typhoon spoke earning a scuff from Smoke.

"Damn straight you will," Smoke added before rolling his shoulders back. "Hopefully his explanation will be worth it,"

As the guardians of the vault began to surround Iron Bear X, Smoke groaned and swayed his hands upward only for his hands to sway about as if leading an orchestra. Doing so caused Iron Bear X to cross its arms over its chest while the guns deconstructed themselves into small cubes that spun around the mech. Moze blinked at this in confusion while Smoke kept his eyes closed and continued to sway his hands about.

"Death pulse charging," Smoke whispered while opening his eyes slightly as the cubes surrounded the mech in a sphere of energy. "Fully charged,"

Moze nodded her head before pulling both triggers causing the sphere to expand outward swiftly. Any guardian caught in the pulse was frozen in place while being shocked and lastly incinerated into ash. Once all the guardians were dealt with, Iron Bear X immediately ejected Smoke onto the ground while shifting to its default variant with Moze at the controls.

"Yup saw that happening," Smoke said picking himself off the ground while dusting himself off.

"What was that?" Moze asked turning to look at Smoke who turned to face the inventor.

"THAT was Iron Bear X Sentinel Variants trump card. It is used as a last-ditch effort if we ever needed to get out of an 'Oh Shit' situation," Smoke answered while sighing. "With some exceptions of course...this being one of them. After all, we got better things to do than play with guardians...am I right?"

Moze was silent at this explanation but eventually nodded her head in agreement.

"Alright...now let's grab the key and have a little chat with the legendary vault hunter about his kids," Smoke said stretching his arms over his head groaning.

"Which is?" Moze spoke looking at Smoke who blinked at this.

"Like I said. I hid it well. But I can lead you to it," Typhon explained.

They made their way to pedestals before Smoke placed his hand over it. A second passed before energy began to gather in front of the pedestal with Typhon DeLeons body beginning to form.

"Hate those things. Ugh. Me and Leda beat that Vault Monster together. Heh. Let's go pay her a visit," Typhon Spoke before walking past the two vault hunters. "Come on Vault Hunters. Not far now,"

Smoke and Moze looked at one another before the inventor looked at the ground and rubbed the back of his head sighing heavily.

"Typhon...about Troy," Smoke started only to have the legendary vault hunter shake his head.

"Yeah...listen. I know what's been goin' on out there. Troy and Tyreen, my kids, well...they became monsters. No other way to say it. And you're Vault Hunters. You kill monsters. Simple as that," DeLeon explained with a soft voice. "Look, I'm not sayin' I'm glad my boy's dead, but at least he can't hurt people no more."

"Typhon...why didn't you tell us the Calypsos were your children?" Lilith asked through the ECHO-3.

"I wanted to, and I should've...but I couldn't find the words. How my kids ended up, that's on me. And I might've doomed the whole universe, but I can't let that be how my story ends," Typhon started to explain as he turned to face a wall that became transparent while he turned to face the new entrance. "After their mother died. I was so scared I'd lose them too. So I kept'em, here. I thought they'd be happy. But they kept staring at the sky, full of stars they'd never reach. To me, this planet was enough! The reward at the end of my hunt. To them, it was just a cage."

As Typhon was explaining himself, he would guide the other Vault Hunters to what seemed like a tombstone. Typhon came to a slow stop as he looked down at the gravestone before him.

"The key, it's with her. She watches over it," Typhon spoke.

Smoke bowed his head in respect before kneeling and beginning to dig up her grave only to have Typhon gasp while the inventor flinched.

"Not in her grave, Vault Hunter. The headstone! Gah!" Typhoon shouted.

"How the fuck am I supposed to know?!" Smoke shouted back while getting to his feet and looking at Typhon.

"...I guess I could've been clearer. I got it. I got it," Typhon spoke walking over to the headstone and placing his hand over it.

As soon as his hand moved away from the headstone, it opened revealing the vault key.

"There it is...alright take the key," Typhon spoke looking at Smoke who nodded his head and walked over to take it into his hand. "Right. Now to the Vault. Like I said, me and Leda already killed the monster, but there's somethin' you gotta see."

"...if you say so...but back to your kids real quick..." Smoke spoke pocketing the key into his backpack while looking at Typhon.

"I'm about to get to that," Typhon said while Moze rolled her eyes at Smoke as the legendary Vault Hunter started to lead the others to the next destination. "When me and Leda first saw Troy ad Tyreen's tattoos, we knew we had to protect 'em. Sirens, hoo! The rarest thing in the universe, and there were two of 'em right in our arms. The only way to keep 'em safe was to stay here. Forever. But that didn't work out so well. I might've been a first-rate adventurer, but I was a third-rate pops. If you don't raise your kids right, what kinda hero are you?"

"A bad one..." Smoke whispered causing Moze to slap the back of his head with Iron Bears' left hand making him stumble forward.

Thanks to the inventor's shield, it did little to no physical damage but the knockback was still there.

"Listen. What comes next, it ain't gonna be easy. We got one shot. But I gotta fix this. For Leda," DeLeon spoke as he lead them to the Vault pedestal.

Smoke walked up to the pedestal and brought out the Vault Key to place t onto the pedestal. After a second of waiting, the portal to the vault opened allowing the three Vault Hunters to enter. As soon as they entered the Vault, DeLeon could not help but chuckle at the memory that came back to him.

"Boy, this brings me back! Been avoiding this place a long time," DeLeon started. "So...me and Leda...we sorta already looted the place. But I got somethin' for ya,"

"Fuckin' hope so," Smoke whispered.

The two took lead to where the prize would normally be at only to find nothing. Smoke's right eye twitched,

"Nah I'm just joshing ya'. Here, take this," DeLeon spoke handing the inventor the Eridium gun smiling.

Smoke looked at the fabricator with wide eyes before turning to face Moze who shrugged.

"I got all the guns I need with Iron Bear mark II," Moze said looking at the inventor who nodded his head and walked up to take the fabricator.

"Why not give it a go? Load that sucka up with some Eridium," DeLeon spoke as Smoke chuckled while pulling out some Eridium and placing it into the fabricator.

After a few seconds of waiting, the Fabricator shot out a single gun-making Smoke walk over and pick it up.

"Nice...very nice..." Smoke said placing the gun on his back.

"We'll need all the firepower we can get our hands-on," DeLeon spoke earning a nod from Smoke.

"Oh believe me I can make that happen with this bad boy and a good friend," Smoke said looking at the fabricator still grinning widely.

"Good to know...now you check in with your people...I'll head to the machine. And hey, from one Vault Hunter to another...thanks. I just hope we still have time to fix things,"

"...if you're this serious about fixing things I'm sure we will have time...it'll be hard as hell but it's still possible," Smoke said putting the fabricator away before rubbing the back of his head.

"In order to access the Eridian machine, I'll need to charge that key. Bring it up to Sanctuary," Tannis spoke earning a nod from Smoke.

"Welp you heard the historian. Let's charge this baby up," Smoke said waving to Moze then looking at DeLeon. "Till then Vault Hunter,"

-Sanctuary-

As they returned to Sanctuary, Moze was being contacted by an unknown individual.

"Smoke you head-on in an talk to Tannis. I'm gonna take this," Moze said walking off to her room while bringing her Echo-2 to her face.

As she entered her room, the echo-2 opened up to reveal J. Moze's eyes grew wide before she glared at the fighter in front of her. He looked like he normally did with his cargo pants as well as his upper body still bare for the world to see.

"J. What do you want?" Moze asked tightening her grip on the Echo-2.

"To warn both to give up. Next time we see each other...I will do everything in my power to kill you both. Smoke has freed me from my prison and you have taught me to trust in myself..." J started while he looked to the ground in deep thought. "You have questions...don't you?"

"Yes," Moze said closing her eyes only to open them a second later. "Why did you side with the Calypso?"

"Because she offered me a means to experience love...something no one else offered..not even Moxxie," J answered tilting his head. "What she offered was nothing more than playing around,"

"How would you know what playing around?" Moze asked gripping the echo-2 tightly.

"I was a lab experiment...they have done many things to me Moze. MANY things," J answered with his eyes turning a crimson red for a brief second. "I am not as pure as Smoke thinks. I have been corrupt for a very long time...void of love...or so I thought,"

"Void of love?" Moze questioned while blinking.

"For years I thought my only purpose in life was to follow orders and survive...nothing else mattered. Once Smoke freed me I thought about ending my life at that point. With no true purpose...what am I living for?" J answered while chuckling softly while shaking his head. "Tyreen is showing me what love is...even if it is against those who were my allies at one point. Due to our history, even if it was short...gave memories...things to hold dear. This is why I wish for you both to back off. Do not fight us. None of you can stop us,"

"And what if we are able to stop you and Tyreen?" Moze asked glaring at the fighter who turned his attention back to the echo-2.

J's body immediately turned black as his eyes looked to the camera while his eyes would glow a crimson red with rage.

"You won't," J spoke before he cut the connection causing Moze to grit her teeth before throwing her Echo-2 to the wall.

Smoke knocked on Moze's door causing it to open causing the inventor to look at the soldier than at the broken Echo-2 on the ground.

"...I am going to go out on a limb and say J contacted you..." Smoke said crossing his arms over his chest while leaning against her door frame with his head tilted.

"Yeah. Did he contact you as well?" Moze asked turning her head to look at the inventor who nodded his head.

"Yeah...I bet it wasn't as pleasant as yours though...if you know what I mean," Smoke said giving Moze a wink.

Moze glared at the inventor before pulling out a handgun and firing a round at Smoke's face. The bullet crashed into a barrier causing Smoke to raise a brow.

"Maybe not so pleasant," Smoke said sighing heavily and entering the room.

"Get out!" Moze screamed while looking at the ground.

"Nah soldier. Now's not the time to be feeling like shit...we have a time limit," Smoke said before Moze closed her eyes and took a deep breath before nodding her head.

"Understood...but before we continue with our mission...what did J send you?" Moze asked opening her eyes to look at Smoke who groaned while rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, it wasn't J that contacted us...it was Tyreen herself," Smoke said while pushing himself off the door frame while scratching his head. "And she was VERY excited about us surviving...out of the respect for Dread...she gave us a chance to surrender to her rule,"

"Who the hell is Dread?" Moze asked with a raised brow.

"Ahh, that's the name Tyreen calls her lover boy...J..." Smoke explained causing Moze's eyes to go wide. "Now I know what you are thinking but...it's as worse as it sounds,"

Moze's right eye twitched before Smoke chuckled nervously.

"Yeah...she did the dirty with J..." Smoke said closing his eyes and shivering at the thought. "She went into detail about that too..."

"I'm going to fucking kill her..." Moze said gripping her handgun tightly.

"You'll have your chance soldier...and I will deal with J," Smoke said bringing his hand out for Moze to take. "Fifty-fifty split,"

Moze looked at Smoke's hand before taking it.

"What tests did they do to J?" Moze asked looking into the inventor's eyes.

"...all forms of torture and testings Moze..." Smoke answered softly before taking his hand back. "Come on...Lilith wants to talk to us,"

Moze stood there in silence as she watched Smoke leave her room before eventually following after him.

/To be continued...
