ABOUT TIME

When Susan Thomas first learned about the promotion, she couldn´t believe in her eyes, when she read those exact words coming out from the man´s mouth and she couldn't help but feel excited when the Big Apple called her name, asking to come to her.

That was the exact opportunity she had to show the word that she was capable to do great things, she always liked changes and challenges, so, going to New York, would be just another one to add on her list.

However, after the initial excitement, Sue start to realize that if she left DC, she would miss the big part of the place she called home, her best friend Lucy, her teammates, her friends and of course, she would miss Jack a lot. And then, the second thoughts start to show.

With a heavy heat, after telling her team that she will soon part to New York, Sue decided to take a walk, to clear her thoughts, only to stop at church, where she knew that the Lord All Mighty would certainly give the best advice on what to do. When suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

''Are you alright child?'' it was the deaf old lady who once Sue met at the hospital.

''Oh…'' Sue smiled startled and got up, facing the woman who was behind her. ''Yes… sorry, are you Deanne, right?''

''Yes and you´re Sue, you work for the FBI,'' the old lady smiled. ''But I see you are having some trouble; you want to talk about it?''

''I´m having second thoughts,'' Sue signed in response. ''I got a big promotion, I will be heading to New York, but… but I don´t know if I'm really prepared to leave, I will miss everyone here.'' She finishes with saying.

''Oh… did you found someone special?'' the old lady asked, and Sue blushed.

''I suppose…''

''Matters of the heart change everything, doesn´t it?'' Deanne smiled.

''I don´t know exactly, I'm afraid that if I'm going, I will lose more than I gain, that's why I came here, to seek God´s answer for what I can do.'' Sue prayed.

''Child, you know God won´t give you the correct answer, he will lead you to the right path and in the meantime, you will have to follow your heart,'' she smiled. ''You only need to know thar no answer is a wrong one, God will never let you do something you rest later, just rust him and follow your heart.''

''Thank you.'' Sue smiled while signing and a few minutes of talking, the old lady left Sue to think alone.

The next two days, after a lot of talk, Sue made her mind, she settled everything, called the recruiter saying thank you for the opportunity, talk to Lucy about her decision, making her friend very happy and took a deep and happy breath, knowing she had made the right decision, following what God had in store to her

This, way, next day, Sue went to work, ready to tell her team about her new decision, just to be welcome by a surprise party Lucy prepared to her for when she arrived.

''What is this?'' asked Jack, who had come with her through the hallway.

''I suppose Lucy had already told everyone,'' Sue started with a smile. ''I decided to stay, my place is here, not in New York.''

Upon hearing this, Jack not even thought twice and involving Sue on his arms, he give her a very passioned kiss.

A kiss Sue corresponded with the same passion.

''Thomas!'' for what seemed an eternity in just a minute, a voice made Jack jump, startling Sue on the process as they both turn to see their superior Ted Garret standing on the doorway. ''Thomas I'm very happy to hear that you decided to stay, but, regardless the feeling you share with each other, I highly expect that my team remain professional inside this building, understand?''

''Yes Sir!'' they both replied with a bit of ashamed.

''Good. Welcome back, Thomas,'' he said, however, upon leaving, he passed by Lucy and whispered ''It's about time, don't you think?'' and in response, the black woman couldn´t help but laugh.
