I audibly gulped, then ran out of the cabin. I could hear Artemis cursing and chasing me around, trying to catch me. Much to my dismay, she was gaining on me. I got unlucky and tripped over a rock. Have I said that I hate the Fates? No? Well, I am currently fighting the urge to curse them as Artemis hauls me back up, slaps me upside down, then clutches her hand in pain. Whoops.
I heard her mutter, "How hard is your head? It's like I'm whacking Apollo, and that's saying something."
"Apollo has a hard head?"
She made a face. "Yes." She nearly left, but she remembered the reason why she was here. Hooray.
I sped across the beach, Artemis on my tail. She finally managed to catch me and tackled me, making me kiss the wet sand. She then proceeded to slap my face. Hard. She knew better than whacking me upside down on the head. She took her hand, reached for my ear, pinched it, then twisted the ear so hard, I nearly lost balance.
"Ow! Ow! What is WRONG with you lady?!" I yelled, clutching my sore ear.
He fiercely glared at me. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU! You nearly killed yourself! You were in that infirmary for 2 days! You caused a storm that Kymopoleia would be jealous of! So you tell me, what is wrong with YOU!"
I winced. This was gonna be a hard talk. How was I gonna explain to her? I tried to come up with an excuse but pretended to try to formulate words, effectively confusing her. I decided to go with, "The stress with Annabeth had finally gotten to me. I needed to vent my anger somewhere."
I was just about to say this to her when the sea wrapped around me and pulled me in. The last thing I saw was an angry, cursing Artemis. Wow, she had a colorful tongue.
Time Skip
I found out where I was. Dad palace in Atlantis. Two mermen guards were positioned at the gates. I swam towards them.
"Hi!" I cheerfully said, trying to get on their good side. "Can I go in?"
The taller of the two frowned, then sternly asked, "Who are you and what business do you have?"
"I'm Perseus Jackson. As for the business, I have no clue. I think Dad called me here. I was talking to Lady Artemis when the water wrapped around me and pulled me here." I informed him.
His eyes widened, then the other merman permitted me to go in. The beauty of Dad's palace catches me every time, with its beautiful pillars, mosaics, and architecture. Architecture… She loved architecture.
Enough bad thoughts, I chide myself. I swam faster, wanting to reach the throne room first.
When I got there, my stepmom and Triton were there, along with my dad. Amphitrite and I were on good terms since she knows that it wasn't my fault that I was born. Though she always glares at my dad. It's a hilarious sight to watch, him cowering by her glare.
Triton, however…hates me. I think that he knows I'm dad's favorite son. Now, I have a jealous, irritating, and boastful half-brother that is probably going to tease me mercilessly about the she-devil. By she-devil, I mean Annabeth. Huh. Guess I can actually say her name.
I bowed. "Father. Stepmother. Triton."
My father smiled warmly. "Hello, Percy. No need to bow to your father, stepmother, or half-brother. You know we don't like to be bowed to."
I grinned as I rose. "I know." As an afterthought, I added, "I'm not sure about Triton though." Said person scowled at me while Dad laughed at my antics.
"Very true, Percy."
Amphitrite waved. "Hello, Percy. How are you holding up?"
My smile dropped. "Not well. I'm pretty sure Dad sensed the first three times I caused havoc at Montauk Beach. It's a good way to vent out any anger without harming anyone."
Amphitrite sighed. "I expected as much. Now you know how I feel when your father cheats on me." At that, she shoots a glare at my father, who winced.
'I guess I do.' I thought. Out loud, I said, "Now everyone knows why Hera is vengeful and why Persephone likes to turn Nico into flowers. Apparently, he makes a good dandelion." I added, "Dad, why have you brought me here?"
He sighed. "Percy. You are required at the council in two hours. I convinced the council to turn you into a god."
My eyes widened. I asked, "So what am I supposed to do for two hours?"
He gave me a look. "Wait."
"You can't tell an ADHD demigod to wait, Dad! Two hours is torture!" I protested, stretching out the last word. More like whined.
He sighed. "Andie. Take Percy here sightseeing. I'm sure he would love it."
A mermaid stepped forward. "Hello. I'm Andromeda. Andie for short. I'll take you on the tour."
The underwater city was amazing. Stores dotted the busy streets as all types of sea creatures hustled around. In the distance, I could see magnificent homes shining in the light. There was an old-fashioned clock outside to signify the time.
As I walked, a group of mermaids was playing tag. A red-haired one saw Andie and her eyes lit up. She hugged her and spoke in some mermaid language I could easily translate, but chose not to intrude.
These mermaids looked way different than the creepy ones at the fish pony dudes' camp. There must be different types of mermaids, sort of like how humans have different races.
Andie was staring at me. "What?"
She sighed. "I've been calling your name for the last minute!"
"Sorry, I zoned out." I apologized, looked sheepish and sorry at the same time.
Andie sighed again. I was starting to think that she just loved to do that. "Whatever. Come on, Lord Poseidon insisted that you be back in 2 hours. We have half an hour left."
Having said what she needed to, she forcefully grabbed my hand and dragged me, expertly weaving through the crowds. We did get some funny looks though. "Gods, no need to be bossy," I mumbled, annoyed.
She let go of my hand and turned to face me. One eyebrow was raised, face looking stern. Uh oh. I knew that look. It was the look that all moms gave when they clearly heard what their children said. The one where they make you repeat what you said and proceed to give a huge, boring lecture.
"What did you say?" She asked, more like demanded. I gulped.
"Gods, no need to be bossy?" I told her timidly, afraid when I saw the murderous look on her face.
"You better swim, Perseus Jackson!" I cursed underneath my breath and swam for life.
Ten Minute Time Skip
She caught up to me. I mean, she's been swimming since she was a little fry. (A baby fish is called a fry. Since mermaids and mermen are technically part fish, I'm calling them a fry.)
She tackled me to the ground. Anyone order some deja vu? I think a big order just came to the wrong address.
'Women,' I thought. 'Just can't take a break from kissing the ground thanks to them.'
"We have to get back!" The urgency was laced in Andie's voice. "Now!"
"Why?" I whined. I really wanted to explore the caves that they had. It was the only thing Andie never got to show me.
"Twenty minutes till we have to be back! It will take at least 15 to get there!"
That makes sense, I guess.
Back at Poseidon's Palace
"Thank you for giving young Percy a tour here, Andie," Dad said. "Very kind of you."
She dipped her head in acknowledgment. "It was no problem, Lord Poseidon."
He dismissed her so that the room only had him, me, and the 4 guards by the door.
"It's time to go to Olympus, isn't it?" I ask.
He nodded. "Percy, there is something you need to know. Since your blood must turn into ichor, you will be unconscious during the process. You will be choosing your domains according to what you feel most connected to. For example, I felt connected to the sea, so I became the god of the seas. After this, you will swear loyalty to Olympus, and you will be given godly trainers to teach you the basics of being a god. That will take at least half a year. I am just informing you so you know what to expect."
My head was swimming with the new information that was given to me. I finally nodded. "Ok. I'm ready."
With that, we teleported to Olympus.
