Chapter two:
Over the next week as Mikeys body recovered from the intensity of presenting, has been getting his hyper energy back. He has been going out with others more and more. He truly does struggle to sit still.
Donnie tries to volunteer to go when he has the time for it. He is currently out with Mikey who is staying close to him. He is wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. He knows they don't have to wear clothes though most mutants see it as a respect to the humans; that if the humans have to wear clothes it is decency to do the same. He has Mikey wearing a black hoodie and grey sweats to try to help prevent conflict. He keeps his eyes open for any alphas especially that might cause trouble. He notices a monitor lizard mutant catches Mikeys scent and eyes him. He glared at the mutant who seems to sense it then turn to him.
The mutant looks angry though ends up waking off to Donnies relief.
Donnie doesn't really want to get into a fight today. He did make sure to be prepared for it. He stops as Mikey checks out a stand that has some frozen pizza options. He stands right behind Mikey crossing his arms across his chest as he pretty much stands guard. He turns as quick movement catches his eye. He spots the same monitor lizard mutant weaving through the others there. His eyes meet with the lizards once more.
The lizard narrows his eyes at Donnie then backs off disappearing into a group of people.
Donnie feels even more on edge as he knows that the lizard is trying to find a way to get to Mikey. He growls to himself as no way is he going to allow it.
"Donnie? Is everything okay?" Mikeys voice questions as he glances around slightly confused.
"Lets get going. And if you see a lizard mutant tell me." Donnie orders to which Mikey nods his head. He puts an arm around the other and leads him away. Now that he knows someone is trying something his protection for Mikey skyrockets. He'll make sure that he'll feel even the slightest movement if something happens. His senses alert for the mutant. He doesn't spot said mutant as he walks out of the market area they were in. He still remains on alert and Mikey presses against him fearful. "It's okay. I won't let anything happen to you." He promises the other who nods his head as thanks.
Mikeys eyes drift back as if something has caught his eye.
Donnie looks over his shoulder to see the lizard mutant approaching. He turns keeping one arm on Mikey as he pushes him a little behind him. His other hand grabbing his staff. He can feel a stronger than ever urge to protect Mikey. He isn't sure if it's instinct perhaps mixed with his connection with Mikey. He pushes his thoughts away to focus on the threat.
The lizard stops leaving a gap between them. His gaze does its best to look over Mikey who looks uncomfortable about it. "Come on back to my house with me. I'll make sure you're taken care of." He offers to Mikey who shakes his head, while the lizard licks his own lips. "I wasn't asking." His alpha scent grows stronger as if trying to assert dominance, and in his eyes is a gaze to demand obedience.
"Back off." Donnie growls tense and he wills his own scent increase as a warning. He knows it's how his body knows to do so aside from instinct. He does it to remind the other he's also an alpha and to leave them alone.
The lizard lets out a deep unpleased rumble glaring hatred at Donnie. "You have no business with this. That's not your omega." He moves forward trying to intimidate Donnie by towering over him. He lets out another deep rumble before speaking again. "So you should mind your own fucking business."
"No." Donnie growls back his eyes narrowing as he looks up at the other. "I told you to back off." He spins his staff knocking the lizard back so the other hits the ground. "No one messes with him." He warns loudly hoping anyone who is nearby hears that.
The lizard snarls challengingly while leaping at Donnie about to bite him. His attempt is stopped as he bites down on the staff instead. He tries to use his grip to tear it away however Donnie keeps a strong grip.
Mikey though scared knows he can't just run or hide. He is trained to fight so he may not be an alpha but that doesn't mean he's going to sit back. He grabs one of his nunchucks and swings it hitting the lizard in the jaw.
The lizard lets go of the staff and stumbles away. He glared enraged at Mikey. "How dare you! You disobedient piece of shit! You need to be taught a lesson!"
"No. It's you that needs that lesson." Mikey tells the lizard who charges. He prepares to back Donnie up.
Donnie uses his staff to block the attack.
Then Mikey uses his nunchucks to deliver hits. He aims for any spot he can reach without hurting Donnie.
The lizard ducks as Mikeys nunchucks fly over his head. He snaps his fangs at the other only to get shoved back with Donnies staff to his throat. He swipes at Donnie to try to slice him with his claws. He cries out and falls as Mikey lands a blow to his leg. He sits up and glares at the two well trained turtles. He seems like he might give up, that is before his mind is changed. He suddenly leaps at Donnie raising a hand to scratch him.
Donnie takes part of the hit on his shoulder as he dodges with Mikey. He had landed short on the dodge more focused on getting Mikey to a safer spot.
The lizard swiftly makes another scratch on Donnies arm before he is knocked back by the staff. He lands on the ground before shifting to a sitting up position. His eyes glaring daggers at the two.
"Is there a problem here?" Leo's voice speaks up as he and Raph move to behind the lizard.
The lizard turns to see the two turtles with their arms crossed. He's close enough to catch the scent of Raph being an alpha. His eyes glare at the two new comers. "Stupid alphas and stupid beta getting in my way." He grumbles to himself about it.
"Well listen here you." Raph leans down putting his face closer to the lizards. "That omega is not to be messed with or harmed. There wont be mercy for it. Now go spread the word before we kick your ass."
The lizard, knowing he's outmatched now, gets up leaving grumbling.
The turtles relax then Leo and Raph head to their brothers.
"Are you two okay?" Leo questions worriedly and checks Donnies injures.
"Yeah. I'm okay." Donnie confirms to them.
"I'm okay too." Mikey assures them though Raph checks his brother for injuries. He lets him and Raph seems satisfied when he finds no injuries.
"It's good that you two are alright." Leo sighs in relief to this.
"Why don't you two join us? The more of us around should deter others from trying something." Leo brings up and the other three agree. He leads them away as they head for the junkyard.
They aren't rich so they gotta salvage what they can when they can. Even preferring things on sale when shopping.
Mikey walks beside Donnie. He can see his three brothers giving warning looks to try to get others to learn to stay away. "Thanks for protecting me back there."
"Of course I did." Donnie assures his brother and feels him lean against him. He puts an arm around him in response. "No way am I going to let something happen to you. You did really good fighting back. I'm proud of you for defending yourself." He notices how his words brightens Mikey's mood. He is glad the other is on the opposite arm than the one with the scratches. He doesn't want his brother to feel guilty that he got hurt.
No other alphas dared to try anything funny after seeing the three with Mikey.
The four arrive at the junkyard and split into groups of two.
Donnie and Mikey go one way while Raph and Leo the other.
Donnie keeps himself positioned where he can still see Mikey. He is trusted to keep him safe and that's what he'll do. He feels fresh waves of protectiveness wash over him. He moves whenever Mikey moves just to ensure he is safe.
"Donnie! Look! Look!" Mikey happily hurries closer to his brother holding something.
Donnie guesses it's a dvd case. He finds himself right as Mikey shows it to him.
The case is a little dirty with mud and it's title just barely readable.
"The good dinosaur? Haven't heard of that one."
"Me neither however it looks like it might be fun." Mikey tries to brush some mud off to get a better look.
"How's the disks condition?" Donnie inquires to which Mikey opens the case to check.
"One scratch here." Mikey shows his brother and the scratch looks light. "Other than that it looks good."
"Great find then." Donnie nods as Mikey puts the disc back in its case. "I haven't found anything." He knows it doesn't help that he only half paid attention to what he searched. "Let's go see how Leo and Raph are doing. Maybe they've had some luck." He sees Mikey nod so he lets the other walk in front of him.
A breeze blows Mikey's scent towards the other.
Donnie quietly inhales the scent feeling a warmth in his body. He shakes himself to try to get himself to calm down. He doesn't want to do something he'll regret.
As the two draw closer they pick up on Raph lightly scolding Leo.
"Just make sure that you don't stress yourself about it. You don't want to get a bad migraine again. I know from google how bad the symptoms can be." Raph means since Leo tends to hide when he gets his migraines, so they haven't seen much of his symptoms.
"I'm fine I promise." Leo assures Raph as they don't look to Mikey or Donnie yet. He earns a look from Raph who wants to make sure. "And I'll do what I can to not stress myself out too much."
Raph seems at least pleased for now at this.
Leo turns from facing Raph to look to their brothers after spotting them. "Find anything worthwhile?" He questions to which Mikey proudly shows the movie. "Nice. At least we did find something today. We can play it next movie night to check it out." He chuckles softly as Mikey fist pumps the air in happiness at this.
"What now?" Raph keeps his attention on their leader.
"We go home."
The four head back together and go through part of town. They want to spread the word to not mess with Mikey every chance they get. They want to hopefully have one day that Mikey can go out freely without fear.
Half a month since Mikey first presented and things are going quite well.
Mikey still goes out with one brother at least, however those on the surface seem to be getting the message. He might be able to safely go out alone by the end of the month.
Leo is watching Raph try to beat a game they found in the junkyard.
A game called outlast.
The two have managed to not jump much at the jump-scares. They won't admit that a few got them.
"I think you need to go to the left here." Leo tries to point out as Raph tries to figure out where he's supposed to go.
"I'll try it." Raph heads that way and finds that Leo was right. He just continues playing not really feeling like giving Leo a thanks.
Leo doesn't seem to care anyways. He glances as Mikey heads towards Donnies lab.
Usually at some point Mikeys restlessness gets the better of him and he annoys Donnie. So he gets told to leave. His actions never seem to make the two drift apart as if they refuse to let it affect their closeness.
Leo turns back to the tv for now though his gaze doesn't stay there. His eyes glance to Raph who is too focused to notice. He lowers his eyes and closes them after a moment. He opens them and tries to keep his attention on the game.
Mikey knocks on Donnies lab door. "Donnie! Are you busy?"
"You can come in." Donnie responds after a moment so Mikey heads inside. He glances to him only to see the big smile on his face. He finds himself smiling as well.
Mikeys smile can bring joy to others as well. It's like a talent of his. He peeks over Donnies shoulder at some blueprints the other is working on. "What is this?" He blinks in confusion at the complicated blueprints.
"Oh nothing special. Just an idea for a possible upgrade to one of my machines. To try to make it more powerful." Donnie lightly shrugs though with Mikey so close his omega scent is all he can think about. He tries to focus on his blueprint as his heart races. He does admit in his head that Mikey smells good. He then realizes that Raph isn't as affected by Mikey's scent as he gets. He's seen the two play a game side by side and Raph didn't show the scent was bothering him. He has a feeling he knows why this is. He just doesn't want to admit it... Not yet... If he can hold back.
"Oh cool." Mikey backs away and Donnie sighs in relief quietly. He wanders around as Donnie tries to figure out what will work for the machine. "Hey Donnie! Do these liquids in these jars do something special?"
"Stay away from them. One of them can melt through flesh." Donnie warns and glances back hearing a fearful yelp from Mikey. His heart twisting in worry that his warning came too late. He is relieved to see that Mikey hadn't touched them, and instead had jumped back after hearing the warning. "Why don't you go bug Leo or Raph?" He brings up knowing he won't get as much work done if he has to worry about about Mikey. He doesn't want the other to accidentally hurt himself.
"But I wanna hang out with you!" Mikey groans turning to Donnie with pleading eyes. He knows the other can't resist that look.
Donnie sighs closing his eyes as he gives in. "Fine. Why don't we go and find something else to do?"
"I heard about a drive in movie!" Mikey perks back up looking rather happy. "Can we go and see it? All we need is a radio to tune into the movies sounds from what I read online."
"Well I suppose it'll be a good time to test out the new upgrade to a radio I made. Alright we'll go." Donnie hears Mikey cheer then run out of the lab calling for Donnie to hurry. He chuckles warmly and grabs the radio as he follows after Mikey.
"Me and Donnie are going out for a bit!" Mikey calls as he heads straight for the door.
"Be careful out there you two!" Leo calls back and Donnie promises him that they will be.
Donnie follows Mikey who shows him the way to the spot.
It is a mall parking lot with a big inflatable screen plus a projector like machine.
As the sun is setting and there's some cars that must have gotten there early for good spots.
More are arriving as the two turtles stand in the shadows.
"Looks like there is a spot where we can sit by the front and get a good view." Donnie mentions to which Mikey nods his head.
The two head over there and settle down.
Donnie tuning the radio to the station mentioned on signs placed in the parking lot.
The two wait for the movie to begin as the sky becomes dark.
"What movie is supposed to be playing tonight?" Donnie looks to Mikey who turns to meet his eyes.
"I think it was called Cats and dogs the revenge of kitty galore." Mikey explains to which Donnie hums at hearing this.
"Haven't seen that one."
"Me neither." Mikey turns back to the screen. "But I think they picked it because they wanted something families could enjoy. Since when I heard about this I found out they usually do the family movies around this time. Then more adult ones late in the night usually after midnight. I just figured we'd enjoy this one as I heard the adult movie is going to be a horror one." He's never been a horror movie fan so Donnie understands this.
"Ah." Donnie nods and turns back to the screen. "That makes sense. Plus I doubt sensei would want us out so late. Especially to watch a scary movie." He hears Mikey hum in agreement next to him.
They go quiet as the movie begins and they watch it seeing why they picked it for families.
About halfway into the movie Mikey leans over and leans against Donnie surprising him.
Donnie moves his eyes away from the movie to glance to his younger brother. He can't help a smile come across his face and he puts an arm around Mikey. His gaze turning back to the movie.
When the two make it back Mikey excitedly tells Leo and Raph all about the movie.
Raph heads over to Donnie while Leo and Mikey talk about the outing a bit more. He nudges the others arm with a smile.
Donnie knows that look in Raph's eyes. He blushes softly. "He leaned against me and I held him. That's it." He tells the other as a matter of fact.
Raph chuckles a little though luckily for Donnie he leaves it alone.
Donnie knows that with Raph being an alpha the other probably figured out his secret. He just hopes that the other won't say anything to anyone else.
