Chapter three:
Four months have passed since Mikey presented as an omega.
Mikey has been allowed to go out alone for a bit now. He does get the occasional alpha flirting with him but he rejects them. He will use his nunchucks if any of them get out of control.
Plus the obviousness of his brothers ready to protect him has deterred alphas from trying things.
Donnie is pacing in the living room. He has a worried and thoughtful frown on his face. He pauses and sighs heavily closing his eyes.
The others are doing their own things in their own rooms.
It is not long after supper after all.
Donnie turns in the direction of the bedrooms and makes up his mind. He heads that way only to stop as Leo then Raph leave their rooms. "Guys!" He calls to the two gaining their attention. "Could you come to the living room? I need your help with something." He has to do something as trying to hold back is driving him crazy. He heads to meet them there as the two glance to each other.
Leo and Raphael sit down on the couch as Donnie stands before them.
"So. Are you finally done pretending?" Raph playfully teases making Donnie blush.
Leo slightly glances to Raph before turning back to Donnie.
"Well. I guess so." Donnie glances away worried what their reactions are going to be... Well Leo's at least as Raph seems to already know. "I just have no idea how to even go about any of this. I want to be with Mikey. Just what if he doesn't want me? What if I mess up and make him hate me?" He is stopped as Raph laughs.
"Wow. You've worked yourself up quite a lot." Raph mentions between laughs only stopping as Leo shushes him.
"Be serious Raph." Leo warns with a warning look to the second oldest turtle. He lets his gaze turn back to Donnie. He is about to speak when Raph cuts in.
"You should just tell him." Raph tells Donnie who looks to meet his eyes. "Mikey won't hate you. Trust me. You're working yourself over nothing. Again. The best thing to do is just be honest with him."
Donnie still feels a little uncertain as he really doesn't want to lose Mikey.
"If you won't be honest about your feelings then you could lose you chance." Leo points out and Donnie takes a deep breath closing his eyes.
Donnie nods his head then opens his eyes. "Yeah. You're right. Thanks." He hurries towards Mikey's room leaving the two in the living room. He pauses just outside of the door and hesitates. His nervousness making his body not want to move to knock. He glances away wondering if he really has the courage to tell Mikey. He blinks when he sees Splinter step out of his own room and walk past.
As Splinter walks past he pauses to place a hand on Donnies shoulder, while giving him an encouraging look, before continuing off to the kitchen. He is probably going to get some tea for himself.
Donnie turns to the door to Mikey's room again and feels more confident. He figures that if even sensei is encouraging him then maybe things will indeed be okay. He finally is able to bring himself to knock then he waits for an answer.
It comes rather quickly as Mikey calls an invitation to come inside.
Donnie heads inside to which he finds Mikey working on colouring an art piece on the floor.
Mikey truly is the best artist out of all of them. He even has sold some art pieces on the internet to earn some extra money. He keeps himself as just an artist by an online name he made. He doesn't want the attention brought onto him personally so he lets the online name take it instead. He looks up to which his eyes meet Donnies. He quickly kicks what looks like a sketchbook Donnie hadn't seen him use before, to under his bed. "Hey Donnie! What's up? Are we going out on a mission or something?" He inquires as his gaze doesn't leave the other.
"Actually." Donnie makes himself move forward and sit down next to Mikey. "I wanted to talk to you about something." Now that he's truly in the room all he can smell is Mikey's omega scent. He shouldn't be surprised since this is Mikey's bedroom.
Mikey tilts his head rather cutely in curiosity to Donnie. "Talk to me? About what?"
Donnie takes a deep breath then sighs figuring here goes nothing. "Mikey. I know as your brother I probably shouldn't be saying this. But I want us to be more than brothers." He pauses for a brief moment then says the last sentence rather quickly. "I wanna be mates with you only if you want it too." He waits unable to let his eyes meet Mikey's, in fear of seeing anger or disgust there. He makes a surprised sound as he is suddenly tackled to the ground on his back. He sees that Mikey stares down at him looking so bright and happy.
"Yes! I wanna be your mate too!" Mikey confirms with the widest grin Donnie has ever seen.
Donnie sighs in relief as the tension in his body just melts away. "I'm so glad to hear that." He admits to the other. "I was worried you'd get angry or disgusted with me."
"Of course not!" Mikey hops off of Donnie retrieving the sketchbook he had kicked. He hands it to Donnie blushing. "I've wanted this for a while. I just figured I should let myself present. But even then I didn't know how to tell you."
Donnie gently takes the sketchbook and looks through it.
There is many drawings of him and mixed in is drawings of him and Mikey together. There's also a lot of hearts drawn around the two of them.
Donnie closes the sketchbook and pulls Mikey close to him. "I'm so happy that you like me as much as I like you." He admits and the two sit there cuddling each other.
They don't notice Leo and Raph peeking in to make sure everything went well.
Leo and Roah head back to the living room where they sit down and turn on the tv.
"Are you ever going to date someone fearless?" Raph inquires as he flips through the channels to see what is on.
"I haven't really considered it." Leo tells Raph trying to focus on the tv. "Have you?"
"I've considered it once. However I figured that I would just be wasting my time." Raph shrugs then turns as Leo puts a hand on his shoulder.
"You should be happy. And if the one you like brings happiness then you should try."
The two stare at each other for a moment then Raph turns away.
"Trust me Leo. The one I considered wouldn't be interested. I've already resigned myself to that." Raph tells him stopping on a channel showing an episode of Family guy. "So just drop it okay?"
"Okay." Leo sighs and turns to watch the show as they sit in silence. His eyes may be on the tv though he isn't actually focused on it. He hardly realizes the show has ended with the credits rolling.
"Leo."
Leo and Raph turn seeing Splinter standing behind the couch looking at Leo.
"I need to speak with you for a moment in my room." Splinter heads that way and Leo follows.
Raph sits there wondering what Splinter wants to talk to Leo about. He turns away as another episode of family guy starts up. He decides to wait for Leo to come back out.
After the second episode finishes Leo emerges from Splinters room.
Raph notices Leo head towards the leaders own room. He turns off the tv and hurries after him.
They stop by the door as they look to each other.
"What was that all about?" Raph inquires staring into his brothers eyes.
"Splinter wants me to spend some time at the farm house." Leo tells Raph. "He doesn't want my migraines to get really bad. So he said a little time alone in peace would be good."
"I could come and help you just in case your migraines make you sick." Raph silently admits that he has worried quite a lot about this.
Usually whenever Leo would lock himself away Splinter would just tell them it was migraines. That they had to leave Leo alone for awhile. Not to mention when Leo will be all alone at the farm house for a little bit, taking care of himself unsupported out there.
Raph's worry has only increased after he had looked over the migraine symptoms. Especially the worse ones like nausea. He may still butt heads with Leo so to speak, though he tries his best to keep Leo from getting bad migraines.
"Raph I'll be fine. The relaxation out there will help." Leo tries to tell Raph no however the other grabs him by the shoulders.
"Leo. I can help. I want to help. We're family. You don't have to hide away." Raph feels a little bad when Leo winces. "Sorry if that was a bit harsh. I just hate when your migraines get so bad you lock yourself away. I always wait for you to come back out, or return from the farm house. Please. Let me help you."
Leo is quiet for a few moments before sighing closing his eyes. "Fine. Only if sensei allows it." He opens his eyes as Raph races to Splinters room knocking on the door. He glances away feeling worry twist his heart. He heads into his room to get ready to leave feeling restless about what Splinter will say.
Raph enters Splinters room and sits down in front of him bowing his head respectively.
"I assume this is about Leo going to the farm house for a bit." Splinter mentions and Raph nods his head in confirmation.
"Please Sensei. Let me go with him. I looked over a lot of information on migraines. If things get bad I can help him." Raph hopes that Splinter will let him go with Leo.
"You do know I do this to make sure that Leo gets what he needs from his time there. Right? You two do still sometimes have arguments."
"I know. I just get really worried about him when he has to be away because of it." Raph admits not looking up. "I don't like to admit it but it's the truth. And I thought it'd ease my mind if I could help. I'll monitor how he is and I'll be on my best behaviour. Just let me help him for once."
Splinter is silent making Raph feel nervousness twist in his stomach. "If Leo will allow you then you can go. I will leave this choice to Leo. He should be the one to decide how he wants this time to go. Though I must warn you that helping him may not be what you have read about."
"Thank you so much Sensei! Don't worry I'll do my best!" Raph bows then hurries out to go to Leo's room. "Splinter said if you'd let me I can go."
"Well then we're leaving tomorrow." Leo can't bring himself to look to Raph and just acts like he is just focusing on grabbing stuff.
Raph heads off to go pack. His room is right next to Leo's anyways. He stuffs his stuff into a bag then pokes his head out of the room.
Donnie and Mikey exit out of Mikeys room with Mikey snuggled in Donnies arms.
"Donnie!" Raphs voice causes them to turn. He gives them a quick thumbs up of support before asking his question. "Do you have any special pills for the migraines left? I believe you said you'd make more since the last time."
"I don't. Sorry. Why?"
"Well sensei is letting me go with Leo tomorrow to the farm house. I just wanted to be prepared in case his migraines come up."
"Oh. He's letting you go? That's surprising." Donnie mentions in surprise. "Well I did stash some pain pills there. They're not the better pills you're asking for. But they'll at least help."
"Well I sort of convinced him to let me go. And we're leaving tomorrow so I'll just do what I can with what we've got. Thanks anyways." Raph shrugs then ducks back into his room. He goes through his head what he could bring that might help Leo. He hopes that things will go well while they are there.
Mikey and Donnie leave it alone doubting that they'll be able to go as well. They do worry about their brother however they understand that Leo always recovers. They aren't going to be needed there anyways, with it being like a miracle that Raph gets to go with Leo. They head to the couch and turn on the Simpsons movie, to which they lovingly cuddle while watching.
Raph heads to the medicine cabinet to see if they have extra pain meds just in case.
Splinter, who had heard Donnie talk with Raph, comes into Leo's room. He sees Leo finish his packing. "I'm surprised you let him come along."
Leo turns to look to him then glances away. "Maybe it's time I stop running from this." He sighs then feels his father put a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sure it will be fine. Raphael cares about you a lot." Splinter points out to which Leo turns to look back at him. "If this is what you want I won't stop it. Just remember that things might change between you if he goes with you. He'll want to go every time it happens."
"I know. I just keep thinking it's inevitable that Raph most likely would just come to help. So why not just do it on my own terms? I can talk to him about what I need when the time comes."
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Splinter tries to soothe Leo's worries then he leaves the room.
Leo hopes that Splinter is right.
The next morning Donnie, Mikey, Splinter, April and Casey are there to see the two off.
"You two take care out there. And Leo make sure you get plenty of rest." April reminds them.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure he doesn't go pushing himself." Raph assures her with confidence.
"We'll see you when you get back!" Mikey hugs his two brothers as the others join in.
After the hugs Leo and Raph head off to get to the farm house. Knowing that it's good to get going early. They'll have more time in today to settle in.
Raph keeps close to Leo as they walk. "No training nothing while we're there. It's going to be relaxing and enjoying the nature." He tells Leo who just makes a soft sound to acknowledge his words. "And don't be afraid to tell me what you need. Or wake me up if you need to. I brought along some extra pain meds just since I don't know how much is at the farm house."
Leo just lets Raph go off on how things are going to be when they get there. He stares out up ahead and nervousness has settled like a rock in his belly. He really does hope that things will go okay.
The two make it to the farm house in good time.
It is a bit out of town but it offers them plenty of space and no one for a good distance. A truly peaceful area.
They head into the house and go to the rooms that are theirs for when they are here. They put down their stuff then they head to the kitchen, Casey comes by to make sure the food there is fresh plus he take home some stuff so it's not wasted, to see what has been left for them.
"Are you pretty hungry?" Raph glances to Leo who doesn't get too close to him.
"Not too much."
"Okay. Then there is some pizza pockets in the freezer. Those should be good for lunch." Raph takes the box out. "How many do you want?"
"Two is fine." Leo sits down at the table as Raph gets their lunch ready. He stares at the table only to look up in surprise when Raph speaks.
"I know that it's going to be a bit different with me helping to keep your migraines away. But don't worry. I'll do whatever I need to in order to help."
"Yeah." Leo agrees to this not looking at Raph, who assumes the leader is just a little nervous about showing weakness with his migraines.
"I brought the movies you really liked. I know we don't get actual Tv out here. But we do have a DVD player. I figured it'd be a nice relaxant for you. You can decide which one we watch tonight if you want." Raph offers after they eat.
"How about we watch The Cat Returns then?" Leo suggests to which Raph nods. He had picked it as it is actually his favourite out of the movies they had seen.
"Sounds good. I'll have it by the Tv for tonight." Raph agrees to this smiling to Leo.
Leo smiles back feeling only a little of his worry go away.
That night the two are sitting on the farms couch watching the movie.
Raph had made some popcorn that sits between them on the couch. He won't admit it but he can see why this is one of Leo's favourites.
The movie is pretty charming.
Raph glances to Leo noticing the other is absorbed in the movies story. He smiles to himself.
No matter how many times Leo sees the movie he always acts like it's his first time.
Raph turns back to the movie just glad that Leo is having a good time so far. He hopes that he can keep it up, and maybe they won't have to deal with a bad migraine. He hopes anyways.
