By the time Ben and Summer woke up, Nokia was already out of the house along with all other Rangers. According to the Professor, she left a message for all of them to be at Tilt Village "ASAD" as she called it. Apparently, Professor Hastings was about to tell her what she meant was likely "ASAP" but she darted out of the house before he could to do so.
"Okay, here we are…" Ben said. "Now let's find Nokia and see what she wants."
Summer looked around. "Hey…where is everybody?"
Ben looked around. The village seemed quiet. "Maybe they're down by the docks."
The two of them descended to the lower area of the village. And that's when they saw the crowd. And as soon as they were spotted everyone started cheering. "It's Ben and Summer!" a small boy applauded. "The Great Rangers are here!"
"Huh? What's going on?" Summer asked.
Just then a familiar Digimon flew over. "Heya, Ben! It's been a while!"
"Oh, it's you! Um…CatchMamemon, right?"
"You betchya! I'm glad you remembered!"
"You know him Ben?" Summer asked.
"Yup! Your friend here helped me warm up my Pokemon knowledge! But enough about me! Everyone's waiting!" The arms on his vehicle picked up both Rangers. Pichu jumped onto Ben's leg as it carried them and Staraptor flew after them. Ben and Summer were awkwardly carried over the crowd and dropped onto the dock.
"Ow! Little warning next time?" Summer mummed as they landed on their rears.
"Huh?" Ben looked up at the crowd around them. "Kellyn? Kate? Keith? Rand? Solana and Lunick too?"
"Finally!" Keith grinned. "Took your sweet time!"
"Ben, Summer!" Murph hurried over to them with Nokia and the boy that was previously with CatchMamemon. "You must have nothing to do, right? Will you take up our Quest?"
"Please say yes." Nokia smiled.
"I think you should."
"You totally should!"
"Actually, I insist!"
"Great! Thanks for accepting!"
"Wha-What kind of way to get someone to accept a favor is that?!" Ben asked.
"The "Nokia way"." Rand rolled his eyes. "That's how they roped all of us into this."
"Alright, alright." Ben and Summer posed. "Quest On!" Everyone cheered.
"That's more like it." Murph nodded. "I knew you all would! Accepting our Quest without knowing what it is… Well, that's just plain bold!"
"Thanks, you two. And don't worry about patrol. We asked Takumi and the others to cover for you all." Nokia smiled.
"Now that you have all of us here, can you maybe tell us what this Quest of yours is?" Kellyn asked.
The young boy cleared his throat. "Okay, now that all our contestants are here…The "Who's that Pokemon?" Capture Contest is ready to begin!" The crowd started cheering again.
"Uh…can someone explain? Because I'm so confused right now." Solana murmured.
Nokia turned to her. "Well, Murph wanted to name it the second Murph Cup Ranger Contest, I wanted to name it the Digi/Pokemon Super Tag Team Ranger Capture Race, and this kid wanted to call it the "Who's that Pokemon?" Capture Contest, so CatchMamemon used his roulette to decide and-
"Uh, Nokia, I think she means what the contest is about." Gabumon said.
"Oh, right, right, right! See this kid and CatchMamemon were trying to think of a fun event for humans, Digimon, and Pokemon to enjoy."
"We went to Murph like you suggested." The boy said. "And he brought up a cool contest he set up for Rangers in Almia."
"Oh yeah! I remember that!" Kate smiled.
"They asked us to help host because Nokia is used to doing things with Digimon." Agumon said. "Then we called up a few friends for help and now we're ready to begin!"
"Okay, here's how it works!" CatchMamemon said. "First up, we put all of you Rangers into teams of two! First up: Team Oblivia Guardians! Ben and Summer!" The crowd turned to the two Rangers and cheered.
"Next up, Team Ringtown Superstars!" Murph announced. "Lunick and Solana!" There was applause for the two Rangers.
When they stopped the boy spoke up. "And Team Shining Siblings: Kellyn and Kate!" the crowd went wild for the brother and sister.
"And finally…" Nokia grinned.
"Here it comes." Keith sighed.
"Team Burning Hot Rangers! Keith and Rand!"
Rand blinked as the crowd cheered for him and the veteran Ranger. "Huh…that name…wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."
"Like it Rand? I picked it because you're a hothead and Keith has the red hair!"
"Aaaaaand you ruined it." Keith sighed.
"Okay, now that the Rangers are all paired up…" CatchMamemon grinned. "It's time to announce their Partner Digimon! Let's start with team Oblivia Guardians' partner! Come on out GrapLeomon!"
A Digimon jumped off of The Union and strode over to Ben and Summer. "GrapLeomon?" Summer asked.
"Howdy! Looking forward to working with you two! This is gonna be a thrill!"
"And for team Ringtown Superstars, let's hear it for Etemon!" Nokia announced.
Etemon came out of the Union and approached Lunick and Solana. "So, you're on my team huh? Hmmm…Super! You two look ready to rock and roll!"
"And next on Team Shinning Siblings…Heeeeere's Cherrymon!" Murph declared.
The elderly Digimon walked out of the ship and over to Kellyn and Kate. "So, I'm with you youngsters, eh? Heh. Don't worry, I'll do my best not to let my age slow you down."
The boy looked back at the Union. "And for Team Burning Hot Rangers…Let's hear it for Digmon and Kenkimon!"
The two construction loving Digimon came out and went over to Rand and Keith. "Hey, guys!" Kenkimon waved.
"Kenkimon? Digmon? Don't Berkhart and the others need you back at the Wireless Tower?" Rand asked.
"He said they'd manage a day without us while we help out with today's event." Digmon replied.
"Keith's team is getting two Digimon?" Kate asked.
"Well, Rand doesn't have a Partner Pokemon, so this is to balance things out a little." Murph replied.
"That's fair I guess."
"Alright! Now that the teams are set, we will explain the rules of The Ranger Team Capture Contest!" CatchMamemon declared.
Murph nodded. "Kate, Kellyn, Keith, if you remember the rules of the previous Murph Cup Ranger Contest, the rules are similar. Each team will have seven Pokemon they must obtain. Once you obtain all of them, bring them to me all at once!"
"What are the seven Pokemon this time?" Kellyn asked.
"Hold on, here's where it gets interesting!" the boy grinned. "This time you will not be given the exact names of the Pokemon! Instead, we have given each of the Digimon a list of Pokemon! The Digimon you are with can help you with your search in any way you see fit, from battling Pokemon to clearing targets. And you can put them in and out of your Stylers at your leisure." The boy held up a finger. "However! They are not allowed to give you the exact names or specific locations of the Pokemon in the lists given to them!"
CatchMamemon nodded. "That's right! Instead, they will give you hints via quizzes on who the Pokemon are! Once you catch the Pokemon in the riddle, they will give you another. And while they won't give you the answer until you capture the correct Pokemon, you are allowed to consult your Browser to help figure out the riddle or identify the location of the Pokemon."
"Oh, and just one more thing." Nokia said. "Ben, Summer, I know it's kinda your thing, but since you're the only ones here who can use them, you're not allowed to use Guardian Signs during this contest."
"Fair enough." Ben replied. "Besides, we'll do just fine without them!"
GrapLeomon laughed. "That's the spirit kid!"
"Once you complete your list, come back here!" Nokia declared. "If your collection is verified by Murph here first, you win!"
"This is a race against time. Who will win?" Murph asked. "According to my research, all the Pokemon in the lists exist somewhere in this Oblivia Region."
"And we gave these Digimon specific hints to give on each one!" CatchMamemon said.
"Don't worry, Murph helped me make sure each one is specifically described so there won't be multiple correct answers like on that last quiz we made." the boy said.
"Okay, any questions?" Murph asked.
"None here." Summer smiled. The others nodded.
"Go for it, Ben!" Ralph cheered from the crowd.
"You all will do great!" Nick said from behind him.
"This is just like the Heroes Trail from the festival." Booker chuckled.
"Alright, before we begin our starting countdown…" CatchMamemon turned to the Digimon. "Shall we start with the first riddles? Starting with team Oblivia Guardians!"
"Okay." GrapLeomon turned to Ben and Summer. He unrolled a sheet of paper. "Even after it is born it is still an egg, but then it evolves and sprouts gorgeous wings. This flying fairy brings happiness to those around it and is attracted by peaceful atmospheres. Who's that Pokemon?"
The boy grinned and Ben and Summer as they started thinking. "Can you guess who it is? Next up, team Ringtown Superstars!"
Etemon took out his list in one hand and a microphone in the other. "Now watch out kids! This fella may look weird for having one hand bigger than the other! But underestimate this Pokemon and it'll give ya such a pinch worth 10, 000 horsepower! Even if that hand to too heavy to use easily, it can still wave it around to get your attention! Don't disrespect this "king" of the beach baby or you'll get worse than detention! Who's that Pokemon?"
"Wow. Poetic." The boy chuckled. "Okay, next is team Shining Siblings!"
"Let's see here…" Cherrymon took out a list of his own and cleared his throat. "This one started as a Pokemon with easily alterable DNA. With positive feelings as sunny as Oblivia's sky it evolved into an extremely loyal Pokemon that can predict things such as weather or even its foes movements with just the air current. Who's that Pokemon?"
"Mm-hm." The boy nodded. "And last but not least, team Red Hot Rangers!"
"You wanna do this, or should I?" Kenkimon asked turning to Digmon.
"You go first, we'll take turns."
"Okay." Kenkimon took out his list. "This fella may look like a heavy puncher, but it's actually more defensive than it's alternate evolution. While it looks like it's doing nothing, it could be throwing lightning-fast punches too fast for the naked eye! Who's that Pokemon?"
"And there you go!" Agumon cheered. "If you can figure out the Pokemon and catch it, you'll get your next riddle."
Gabumon was in front of a chalk-drawn line on the ground. "Alright Rangers, the starting line's here!"
Summer grinned at Ben. "Let's do our best team!"
Ben nodded. "Yeah! We'll take home the gold!"
"Pichu!" Ben's Partner jumped.
"Staaaar!" Staraptor howled.
"Oh yeah! Let's rock!" GrapLeamon pounded his fists together.
"Let's give this everything we got Lunick!" Solana said.
"You bet!"
Etemon laughed. "The best part about this? I get to see all sorts of places and Pokemon in Obliva AND the Pokemon Rangers at work at the same time! I'm bound to get lyric inspiration from the experience!"
Solana and Luncik's Partners jumped. "Plus!"
"Min!"
"Well, now, let's do our best, shall we?" Cherrymon asked.
"You got it!" Kate winked to her brother and nudged his shoulder. "Try to keep up with me!"
"Right back at you." Kellyn smirked.
"Star!"
"Pachi!"
"Alright, I may not know much about Pokemon, but I will do our best for the team." Digmon said.
"Here, here!" Kenkimon cheered.
Rand smiled at his fellow Ranger. "Ready Keith?"
"Oh yeah! With these Digimon, you're experience, and my skill and Partner, we can win this thing! Right Buizel?"
"Bui!"
The Rangers posed. "Quest On!" The crowd cheered for them.
"Alright, may the best team win!" Murph clapped. "Everyone to the starting line!"
The crowd cleared the way as the Rangers put the Digimon they were assigned with into their Stylers and stood behind the chalk line on the ground. CtachMamemon held up a flag. "On your marks! Get set! …GO!"
Summer grinned as she grabbed Ben's wrist with one hand and her Staraptor's leg with the other as it flew by and the bird carried the two Rangers and Pichu away. "Hey, is she allowed to do that?!" Kate groaned as she and the others took off on foot.
"Huh…I didn't think about that." Nokia muttered as the Rangers left.
"Maybe we should have made a rule against using Partner Pokemon to travel." Agumon suggested.
"No need to worry!" the boy smiled. "CatchMamemon and I thought of that! So, we asked Murph to help us adjust the lists, so Ben and Summer have harder Pokemon to find and more traveling to do between each one since they can fly on Staraptor!"
"Wow, you guys really thought this through!" Nick said. "So, Ben and Summer have the hardest list?"
"Mmh-hmm. Team Burning Hot Rangers has the second hardest since Rand is the most familiar with the Pokemon in Oblivia. Shinning Siblings and Ringtown Superstars have easier lists. Now they all should have an equal chance of winning! It's all about their skill and their wits!"
"Oh, I'm getting goosebumps!" Nokia grinned. "Who will win it all? Too bad Takumi and the others can't join us. I wonder how their patrol's going."
Ami hummed as she patrolled Aqua resort with her brother. "How do you think that contest is going?" Takumi asked.
"I'm sure the Rangers will give it their all. Those guys put so much into their work. It's nice to see them have fun for a change."
"Agreed. Hey, since we're here, why don't we pay Weber a visit."
"Good idea Takumi." Terriermon nodded. "It's been a while since we saw him."
They walked over to the weaver's house. The man was inside working on a rug. "Hey, Weber!" Ami waved.
The man dropped what he was doing and smiled as they came in. "Takumi and Ami of the New Heroes!"
Takumi bashfully chuckled. "Uh…hey Weber."
"What? No need for the title? Hahaha, pardon my manners Cyber Sleuth."
"From one title to another, huh?" Ami sighed.
"Hahaha! Joking aside, Oblivia was saved thanks to you two, your friends and the Ranger. I'm so grateful. "I'm not forgetting you, Terriermon! Palmon!"
"Good to hear!" Palmon smiled.
"So, what brings you guys here?"
"Oh, we were just patrolling the area and thought we'd stop by to say hello." Takumi smiled. "How's life treating you?"
"I've been going to the Canal Ruins to see the Great Suicune every chance I get…"
"Not getting stuck in anymore bad places, I'm hoping." Ami giggled.
"No, no, nothing like that." Weber looked down and sighed. "But Suicune seems sad lately. I'm so worried. I can't focus of weaving."
"What? Really?" Takumi asked.
He looked back up at the detectives. "I have a request, Cyber Sleuths. Can you find out why Suicune is sad and help it feel better?"
"Of course!" Takumi smiled. "We owe the guy a lot for all it did to help us!"
Ami nodded. "Leave this to us, Weber!"
"Thanks a lot!"
"But where do we start?" Palmon asked. "I suppose we could ask Summer to summon it, but I don't want to distract her during the contest…"
"Any idea what this might be about Weber?" Takumi asked.
"Suicune is a legendary Pokemon. So, you should talk to your boss and what's-her-name…"
"Leanne?" Terriemron asked.
"Yes—Leanne! They should be able to tell you something."
"That's a good idea. Thanks Weber!" Takumi waved as they left.
Ben sighed as the Togekiss flew over to them. "Man, that was hard! Togakiss sure is fast." He said from the Staraptor he caught.
Summer nodded. "Latios and Latias would have helped. "Maybe we're becoming a bit too reliant on Guardian Signs…"
"Then this will be a test for us. To see what we can do on our own. So GrapLeomon, is this the right one?"
His Styler projected a screen with a image of the Digimon. "You got it! Now for your second riddle. Ready?"
"…So, do either of you have any ideas?" Takumi asked. He and Ami were back at Rand's house and the rest of the team; Leanne, Professor Hastings, Nema, Rythmi, and all the remaining Digimon Tamers was there, listening to what Weber informed them.
"…Hmm. Weber remembering my name may be how this is going to get solved." Leanne replied.
"What do you mean?" Yu asked.
"You onto something there, Leanne?" Date asked.
Leanne nodded. "I have a feeling that…Suicune must be feeling sad because of its Monument."
"Yes, I concur." Kyoko nodded.
"You mean the Monument with the Involith on it?" Nema asked.
"Oh yeah, I forgot all about that!" Keremon replied.
"You're losing us." Chitose murmured.
"In order to get to the legendary birds three months ago, Purple Eyes tasked his Pinchers with stealing emblems from three Monuments that were guarded by Suicune, Entei, and Raikou." Yuuko replied. "It occurs to me now, that said monuments must still be damaged."
Leanne nodded. "That's right. The Involith was the key to opening the Ancient Gate."
"It seems the Ancient Gate must be the name of the seal Ravio and the others used to seal away the Sky Fortress." Kyoko added. "I bet his people built the Monuments as part of the seal.
"It also represents the strong bond between Pokemon and People. But Suicune's Monument, with its Involith, was destroyed by the Pinchers and still lies broken."
"That's right…" Takumi murmured. "Suicune must see it as a memento of sorts of Ravio. No wonder it's depressed."
"You think that's why it's sad?" Rythmi asked.
"There were three Monuments destroyed altogether, right?" Tokomon asked.
"Yeah. I bet Raikou and Entei are feeling depressed over their Monuments too." Yuugo replied.
"Makes sense." Ryuji nodded.
"So, that's the problem?" Calumon asked. "Then all we need to do is fix up all of their Monuments and they'll be able to cheer up!"
"You make it sound easy, but I doubt it'll be that simple." Keisuke replied. "The Pokemon Pinchers took the pieces of the Monuments, right? How do we get them back?"
"You don't think Red Eyes still has them, do you?" FanBeemon asked.
"He might." Guilmon replied. "He was the one who used them to get to Moltres and Articuno after all…"
"What about Zapdos?" Tentomon asked.
"Red Eyes left the Pinchers after we beat him shortly after he awakened Articuno." Takumi replied. "Purple Eyes awoke Zapdos, so he must have taken it from him before he left." His eyes then widened. "Wait…ah dang it, we got a real problem!"
"What do you mean?" Lopmon asked.
Matayoshi scowled. "You think when Arceus banished him and Sabios to its domain it took Raikou's Involith with them?"
Arata groaned. "You gotta be kidding me…even now when he's stuck in some other dimension, that idiot is still causing us problems!"
"Hold on." Professor Hastings objected. "Before that, he was arrested when you defeated him at the Sky Fortress three months ago. That was after he awoke Zapdos."
"I see. You think the Ranger Union confiscated it from him when they took him in." Rythmi asked. "I'll contact them right now and see if they can find it."
Kyoko nodded. "You do that. In the meantime, we'll try to contact Red Eyes."
Ami nodded. "He used to be a difficult one to convince, but I'm sure he'll listen to us now."
Arata smiled. "I agree. He's not the same punk we once knew. Heck, he helped us a lot when we were dealing with Team One World."
"That just leaves one question…" Biyomon said. "How do we get in touch with him."
"Leave that to the hackers in this team!" Chitose smiled.
Arata nodded. "I think I have an idea…remember when he messaged Ben when he found that Golden Armor part? We might be able to pull a URL from that message and use it to contact him."
"Good thinking." Ryuji replied.
"So, we'll need to contact Ben…" Otamamon said.
"Let's not pester him while he's in the middle of the Ranger Contest." Kyoko replied. "He sent the message to my Digivice. We can use that to get the URL."
"Let's hope Red Eyes didn't cover his tracks…" Erika replied.
"Pfft! No way!" Ami chuckled. "Wait until you hear the message! You'll think the guy still lives in the Stone Age!"
"Okay, let's get to work." Kyoko said.
"Once you get the URL, we'll have Takumi call him on his Digivice." Yuuko replied.
"Huh? Why me?"
"Out of everyone here, Red Eyes seems to respect you and Ben the most. If he'll listen to any of us, it'll be you."
"Okay. I'll try."
Kellyn finished his Capture at the Old Mansion and Espeon walked over to them. "Is this it?" Kate asked.
Cherrymon smiled and pointed his cane at it. "That's the one! You were quick to figure that out Kellyn!"
"Thanks. Espoen was actually in the last contest Murph heled. So anyway, what's next?"
"Ah, yes." Cheryrmon took out his list. "Let's see here…"
Red Eyes waved as he walked into the house with Blaziken and Gotsumon by his side. "It took me a while, sorry. I was kinda shocked to be called by Takumi of all people out of the blue."
"Yeah, how did you even do that?" Gotsumon asked.
"We have a bunch of tech geniuses over here." Matayoshi grinned.
Red Eyes looked at the group and spotted Erika. "Oh, hey. Um…Erika, was it? Still back to being a human?"
"Seems that way. Wormmon and I can merge to reform Hudiemon at any time, but outside of battle we stick to being ourselves."
"Welcome, ex-bad guy!" Nema smiled. "Did you bring those things?"
"…Ex-bad guy? That's kind of a harsh thing for a little girl like you to say."
"It's also accurate." Yuuko retorted.
"Hey now, we didn't call Red Eyes here to start another conflict with him guys." Takumi said. He then turned to the man. "Let's try this again. Do you still have the pieces of the Monument the Pinchers took from Daybreak Ruins and the Canal Ruins?"
"Yup." Red Eyes fished two slabs of rock out of his pocket and gave them to Takumi. "Here, these are the pieces of Entei's and Suicune's Monuments."
"I'm surprise, but grateful you held onto them all this time, even after leaving the Pinchers." Yuugo replied.
"I kept them not as souvenirs but rather out of guilt for destroying them."
Takumi put a hand on Red Eye's shoulder. "Don't worry, Red Eyes. We'll fix the Monuments, and your crime will be undone."
"…Red Eyes. Thank you for helping us." Kyoko said.
"That just leaves the piece from Raikou's Monument." Leanne said.
"Purple Eyes used it to break open the seal to where Zapdos was sleeping." Red Eyes replied.
"Yes, we know." Professor Hastings nodded. "We have Misery contacting Ranger Union to see if it was confiscated when-
"RYTHMI!" The Operator glared as she returned. "And I have some bad news…"
"They didn't find it?" Keisuke asked.
Rythmi sighed. "No. Turns out they forgot to frisk him when they took him in."
"Wow, really?" Arata squinted at the Professor. "I'm starting to see how Ed busted out the rest of the Societea along with Kincaid and Purple Eyes without you guys noticing."
"Then…it may be as we feared." Hagurumon replied.
"So Arceus took it to the other world along with Purple Eyes?" Date asked. "Terrific. Now how are we going to get it back?"
"Wait, I know!" Ami smiled. "Ravio gave Summer that Azure Flute that Arceus made so others can call him in a moment of need!"
"Good thinking Ami!" Yu smiled. "We'll just borrow it from her, use it to summon Arceus, and ask it to take the part from Purple Eyes so we can fix the Monument!"
Red Eyes rubbed his chin. "You might not even need to do that."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Monodramon asked.
"Given his personality, he may have ditched it somewhere in Mt. Layuda. He doesn't keep things once they are no longer needed. That's his style."
"That does sound like something that conceited creep would do." Fei replied. "We'll have to look into that."
"Thanks again for the help!" Terriemron smiled.
"Okay, ex-bad guy out!" Red Eyes grinned. "Give me a call when you need me." He then glanced at Takumi. "Takumi…I still remember the last battle with you and Ben. Now I know that it was a battle to save Oblivia…And I was meant to lose."
"Maybe so." Takumi said. "But I think you also gained something from that. Red Eyes…now that you have left the Pinchers…you should consider finding a new dream."
"A dream?"
"Yeah. Something to aspire to accomplish. Right now…me, Ami, Keisuke, Terriermon, all of us from my world and our Digimon have a dream. And when we get home, we're going to dedicate ourselves to accomplishing it."
Red Eyes grinned. "That does sound nice…Maybe I should think long and hard about that. Later!" Red Eyes possed before he and his team left.
"That guy thinks he's so cool." Chitose chuckled.
"What kind of dream do you think Red Eyes will have?" Wormmon asked.
"I don't know. But I'm sure he'll find it." Takumi replied.
"Well, in the meantime, we've got a job to do." Ami said. "I thought about it…how are we going to fix the Monuments?" she asked looking at the parts, Takumi held. "I doubt we can just put them back in and they'll stay."
"Oh, oh! I got an idea!" Nema said before running to her lab.
"What do you think our little scientist is up to now?" Matayoshi grinned.
"Let's leave it to her." Kyoko replied.
"Yeah, knowing Nema, she won't let us down." Ami nodded.
"I did it!" Nema cheered running back. "My new invention! I call it… "Crazy Cream That Sticks to Iron, Plastic, Stone, and everything else"!" She held up three plastic tubes.
"…You mean adhesive?" Leanne asked.
"Sooooo glue then." Yu replied.
Nema ignored their comments and brought the tubes to Ami. "There, Ami! You can fix the Monuments with it!"
"Question." Palmon raised her hands. "Is it waterproof? Because Suicune's Monument was underwater."
"Yup! Don't worry, I thought of everything!"
"Alright, here we have two pieces." Matayoshi said. "And I suppose before we bother both Summer and Arceus, we should check to see if Red Eyes was right about Purple Eyes ditching the last one at Mt. Layuda."
"Yeah, Summer's busy with the contest, and Arceus has its hands full with Purple Eyes and Sabios." Keisuke said. "No sense in pestering them if Purple Eyes doesn't even have it."
"We have plenty of hands here, so let's divide up the work, shall we?" Kyoko suggested. One is for the Monument in Daybreak Ruins." "Matayoshi will take Ryuji, Chitose, Erika and Yu there. Yu, you remember where it is right?"
"Yeah. Past Tilt Village." Yu replied. "That's where we met Blue Eyes."
"Okay. We'll leave that one to you." Takumi replied before handing Yu Entei's Involith.
Ami handed Yu a tube of Nema's invention. "The one in the Canal Ruins is going to be tricky." she said. "It's underwater, and I don't have Ben's Aqualung this time."
"We have spares here." Leanne walked to a closet and came back with four air masks. "There. With these, four of you can go to Canal Ruins."
"Ami, you were there, last time, correct?" Alphamon asked. "We'll let you lead us there. Let's take Fei, and Yuuko with us."
"I guess that leaves the last one to me, Keisuke, Arata, Yuugo and Makiko." Takumi replied as he traded Suicune's Involith for one of the tubes Ami had. "First we'll go to Mt. Layuda as Red Eyes told us. Then if we find the Involith, we'll head back to Rasp Cavern."
"Alright. Team, move out!" Yu cheered as everyone departed.
Solana jumped back as a Hippowdon spat sand at her. "This sin't good. Plusle and Mium won't be able to do anything to a Ground Type."
Lunick turned to the Digimon accompanying them. "Etemon, we're going to have to rely on you for backup!"
"You got it!" The Digimon took out a mic. "Time to bring out a beat that can soothe a savage beast! Love Serenade!" He shouted into the mic, making orange pulses. The Hippowdon winced as it froze.
"Hey, it stopped attacking!" Solana said.
"Ha, ha, ha! Anyone who gets a earful of this tune will be soothed to a peaceful halt!"
Lunick looked at the tormented Pokemon. "I don't…think that's quite the case." He whispered. He and Solana fired their Stylers. They looped around the Pokemon until it was tamed. "Alright, capture complete!"
Solana turned to Etemon. "A Ground Type Pokemon that holds its mouth open as a display of strength and stores sand in its body. Etemon, the second Pokemon is Hoppowdon, right?"
Etemon applauded. "Bravo! Right on the mark! You two are on a roll!"
Takumi walked over to them. Keisuke, Arata, Yuugo and Date were nearby. "Is that…Etemon? Solana and Lunick are there too! Hey, guys!"
Etemon turned around. "Well, if it ain't my very first human fan! Fancy running into you here!"
"I'll say." Solana replied. "Are you guys patrolling Mt. Layuda? I mean Team One World did use it as a base so…"
"Not exactly." Takumi replied. "We're looking for something. Three months ago, Purple Eyes used a Involith stolen from Raikou's Monument to open a gate here and get to Zapdos. We're looking for it so we can fix said Monument for Raikou."
"What's a Involith?" Etemon asked.
"It's like an emblem." Arata replied.
Lunick's eyes lit up. "Oh!" He pulled something out of his pocket. "You mean like this?"
"That's it!" Takumi gasped. "You found it!"
"…I see. So, this is a piece of a Monument with a Involith on it. I found it near that stone gate leading to the submit."
"So Red Eyes was right." Date said. "That Purple Eyes really did just toss it after he was done with it. What a creep."
"I was going to show it to Leanne. But I'll let you guys handle it!" Lunick smiled as he gave the Involith to Takumi.
"Thanks, Lunick." Takumi smiled as he put in in the pouch around his hip. "Now we can fix the Monument at Rasp Cavern."
"If you think you'll be okay alone, we'll continue our Quest." Solana replied.
"Ah, that event CatchMamemon, that kid, Murph and Nokia set up, right?" Keisuke smiled. "How's that going?"
"They want us to bring them seven Pokemon in a list only Etemon here is allowed to know about. He gives us hints on what they are and we work together to find them. So far, we got two. A Kingler and a Hippowdon."
Lunick nodded and looked at their allied Digimon. "Speaking of which, what's our next clue Etemon?"
"Oh, right!" Etemon took out a list and a microphone and cleared his throat. "This Pokemon can camouflage as a tree! Good to avoid being attacked by an enemy! But a tree it can't be because it hates the rain! Water, Fighting, and Grass attacks can dish out the pain! Who's that Pokemon?"
"Is he expecting money?" Date whispered to Takumi. "Seriously, you got some weird tastes if you're a fan of this kid."
"It…kinda grows on you after a while." Takumi whispered back.
"If anything, I'm amazed he can make lyrics like that on the fly." Keisuke said.
"Hmm…If it's weak to Water, Grass, and Fighting, then it must be Rock Type." Lunick said.
"And it looks like a tree…" Solana smiled and pulled up her Styler. She looked up the name Sudowoodo. "We're heading to Sophian Island next!"
"Okay, let's find a Staraptor and move out!"
"Good luck you guys." Yuugo smiled. "Do your best."
"Thanks."
"See ya!" Solana waved as they ran off.
Takumi turned to his team. "As for us, we should get going to Rasp Cavern." They all nodded.
Meanwhile at Daybreak Ruins Yu knelled in front of the damaged Monument and stuck Nema's adhesive into the hole in it. Then some on the back of the Ivolith in his hand. He then gently fit the emblem into the hole. "There we go."
"Nicely done Yu." Matayoshi smiled. "Looks good as new."
"I always did like doing crafts as a kid."
Just then they heard a roar startling the team. Entei jumped over to them. "E-Entei?" Chitose shuddered. "What's it doing here?"
"Relax, Chitose, it isn't going to attack us." Hudiemon said.
Entei looked at the team. Then at the Monument they fixed. "Roooaaar…" It let out a howl. Then it smiled gently at them. "I guess that's how it says thanks." Ryuji smiled.
"I'm happy your Monument is restored Entei." Biyomon said. The Pokemon left happily.
"I guess we should just wait at the house until Keisuke and the others are done." Chitose said.
"Sounds like a plan." Ryuji replied. "Let's head back."
Wearing Aqualungs, Ami, Kyoko, Yuuko and Fei swam deeper into Canal Ruins with their Digimon close by. "It should be just up ahead." Ami said as they approached the bottom. They soon found it. A Monument at the sea floor. "There it is!" She hurried over and took out the Involith and the adhesive from her backpack.
"How in the world did Ravio's people get this here?" Fei asked. "His era didn't even invent the bicycle! I doubt they had Aqualungs!"
"Maybe this was just an ordinary temple that was flooded or sank." Yuuko suggested.
"Possible." Kyoko nodded. "That was a long time ago after all."
"Uh…guys?" Ami murmured.
"What's wrong?" Yuuko asked. "Does it not work underwater?"
"Oh, it works underwater alright."
"Then is the Monument fixed?" Fei asked.
"Yeah, but I got a new problem." Ami turned around and her hands were pasted together in a mess of white goo. "I kinda accidentally squeezed the tube and got it all over my hands." She tried to pull them apart. It barley stretched. "A little help?"
Kyoko sighed as she swam over to her. "Oh, Ami…" She took Ami's wrists and tried to pull them apart. "Yup, it's strong even underwater. I have to say, I'm almost impressed."
"I got it." TigerVespamon sighed as she went over to Ami and tried to cut the mess with her Royal Meister, but it sunk partway in and was stuck. "…Uh…" She raised the blade and Ami screamed as she was pulled up with it. Now not only were her wrists stuck together but they were stuck to the blade. "What's this stuff made out of?!" She swung her blade back and forth trying to shake Ami off.
"Not helping!" Ami screamed TigerVespamon stopped, and she was left in a daze.
"I could try using my Ouryuken, but I think you two would appreciate a solution that doesn't run the risk of cutting you in half." Alphamon said.
"We would!" Ami and TigerVepsamon quickly replied.
Yuuko sighed. "Alright, I guess we just need to ask Nema. Hopefully she has a solution prepared."
As they exited the Canal Ruins, Ami was dangling off the ground by her hands that were stuck to the weapon TigerVespamon held up. "Are you okay Ami?" Rosmeon asked.
"I feel like I'm being taken prisoner." The girl muttered in embarrassment.
"We'll figure this out when we get back to the house." Fei replied before grinning and added. "Just hang in there."
"Hanging puns suck!" Ami yelled.
"Sais you."
Just then they heard a howl. "Hey, look!" Yuuko lead them over to where Suicune stood. The Pokemon was smiling at them. "Suicune? What are you doing here?"
"Does it know we fixed the Monument?" Ami asked.
"Shaaaooonn!" the Pokemon roared peppy.
Ami giggled. "Don't worry about it Suicune. After everything you've done for us, it was the least we could do."
The Pokemon happily strode away.
Meanwhile at Rasp Cavern, Takumi carefully squirted the adhesive into the hole in the Monument and onto the back of the Involith before putting it back in. "All done!" Takumi grinned as he stepped back, brushing his hands off.
Terriermon looked around. "This place brings back memories. This is where we had our first Mission with Ben!"
"That's right." Takumi nodded. "We had our first run in with the Pinchers here too. It's also where you became Gargomon for the first time in this world."
Raikou jumped over to where they stood. "Whoa! Where did you come from?!" Date shuddered.
"Hey, Raikou." Takumi smiled. "Oh yeah! This is where we first met you too, wasn't it?"
The Pokemon looked at its restored Monument. "Roooaaar!"
"It looks like it's happy now that it's Monument is restored." Yuugo said.
"I'm glad we could help the guy." Arata grinned. "Raikou's done a great deal for us after all."
Keisuke smiled at Raikou. "This Monument isn't just part of some seal. It's a sign that your bond with Ravio will stay strong even though he's no longer around. Right?"
The Pokemon nodded and ran off. "That felt good." Tentomon said.
"Yeah. Well, let's head back." Arata said.
Buizel spat a burst of water at a Venusar. It growled as it was hit in the back and turned around. It shot seeds from the flower on it's back at them. "Kenkimon, Digmon!"
"Gold Rush!" Digmon shot drills at the Pokemon that circled around it, boxing it in.
"Crazy Crane!" Kenkimon swung his crane into it, knocking it back. Rand and Keith then captured it.
"Alright!" Keith grinned. "This is it, right? It's gotta be! Venusar is a Grass/Poison Type and it's flower blooms when it has enough sunlight."
"That's the one." Digmon replied.
Keith smiled at Rand. "Man, having a veteran Ranger for my partner really helps! You knew right away where to find it!"
"It was nothing. I just remember spending Leanne's birthday here and we saw Venusar here before. Anyway, we just need two more. Let's keep this up!"
"Yes sir!"
"What are you doing Ami?" Takumi muttered.
The girl chuckled nervously, still dangling from the adhesive stuck to her hands and TigerVespamon's sword in front of Rand's house. "Oh, you know, just hanging around."
Date stuck her thumb down. "BOOOO!"
Ami glared at Fei. "SEE?!"
Nema ran outside with a spray bottle. "I'm back with a new invention! Here it is! "The Anti Crazy Cream That Sticks to Iron, Plastic, Stone, and everything else Spray"!"
"Try saying that three times fast." Terriermon joked.
"Good work Nema. See Ami, aren't you glad you hung in there?" Chitose chuckled.
"Shut up Chitose." Ami growled.
"Do I hear sixteen?" Yu joked.
"Shut up Yu." Chitose growled.
Ami groaned. "Can we get this done now? My arms are getting sore!" TigerVespamon lowered Ami to the ground so her stuck arms were in Nema's reach. She sprayed the mess enveloping her hands and it slowly dissolved freeing them. Ami sighed in relief as she stretched her arms apart. "Ah! That's better!"
All the teams were gathered outside. "So, did you succeed as well?" Ryuji asked.
"Yup. We even saw Raikou after we fixed the Monument." Keisuke smiled. "He seemed really happy about it."
"Heh. Same with Entei."
"Suicune too." Yuuko smiled. "I'm happy we were able to help all of them after everything they've done for us."
"Ami and I will go report back to Weber." Takumi said.
"Give him our best." Yuugo replied.
Ben wiped his forehead as Cherrim was captured. "Man, Murph did not make this easy. These Pokemon were hard to find."
"But you got it right again!" GrapLeomon said. "And that's the last one! You captured all the Pokemon on the list!"
"Nice!" Summer smiled. "Then let's head on back! I gotta say, this contest was a lot of fun!"
"Yeah!" Ben nodded. "We got to see a lot of places from our adventure in Oblivia three months ago."
"I'm seeing a lot of this for the first time." GrapLeomon added. "Oblivia has more to it than I thought."
"Anyway, we should get back to Tilt Village." Ben said. "Knowing Kellyn and the others, they won't be far behind."
Summer nodded. "Right!"
Takumi knocked on the door before he entered with Ami. Weber looked up at them. "Takumi…Ami…Is it good news…or bad news? Don't leave me hanging!" Ami groaned. Webber looked at Takumi. "…Did I say something wrong?"
"Don't worry about it." Takumi replied. "Anyway, let me tell you what happened…"
"And that makes seven!" Etemon replied. "Well done!"
Solana smiled at the Jumpluff they captured. "Awesome! Now we just need to get these guys back to Murph!"
Lunick turned to Etemon. "Nice work turning all of those hints into lyrics by the way."
"You two solved them fast! You must have musically trained ears!"
"Well, there's this band we've had a few encounters with…but that's a story for another time. We should hurry back!"
Weber smiled. "…I see. That's a relief! It's all thanks to you guys, Leanne, and Kyoko and the other Digimon users. Thanks!"
"Forgetting someone!" Terriermon said.
"…And you Digimon too!"
"Oh, well, thanks, but I meant Red Eyes and you!"
Webber grinned. "I like the way you Digimon smile! I've got an idea! My newest rug will have a Digimon pattern on it! I'll also weave a rug with…Great Raikou, Great Entei, Great Suicune, and…The New Heroes who saved Oblivia together with those legendary Pokemon…Those new heroes are Ben, Summer, the other Rangers, and each and every one of you Digimon Tamers!"
Takumi and his sister blushed a bit. "Thanks, but…"
"…No need for the title? Okay? Hahahahaha."
As the exited Weber's shop, Takumi looked up. "Maybe this will help Ravio and the others rest easy too."
Ami smiled and closed her eyes. "Ravio, everyone…we'll do our best to look after this world you entrusted to us."
Murph, Nokia, CatchMamemon and the boy were still waiting at Tilt Village. The crowd also hadn't left yet. "This is so exiting!" Ralph said. "I wonder who's gonna win?"
"Look out below!" From her Staraptor, Summer and Ben jumped down, startling everyone.
Murph grinned. "Ben! Summer! How's the Ranger Contest coming along? How are you feeling? Did you come crying here to talk to Mighty Murph?"
"Make way, coming though!" Lunick and Solana rushed through the crowd. "Murph, we're done!"
"Really?" Nokia asked. "Then you're the first ones, assuming Ben and Summer are just here to ask questions."
"Actually…" Ben pressed a button on his Styler. GrapLeomon, Kabutops, Quagsire, and Probopass came out. Summer pressed a button on hers and she brought out Togakiss, Probopass, Heracross, and Cherrim.
"Wow! Did you manage to get all seven of them?!" the little boy asked.
"No way!" Murph gapped. You really made it?"
"All Pokemon on the list are accounted for!" GrapLeamon saluted. "Ready for the judges final check!"
"Unbelievable!" Nokia gasped. "That was fast! And you two had the hardest list too!"
Just then Rand and Keith ran over. Kellyn and Kate were close behind. "Argh! Ben and Lunick's teams beat us here!" Keith groaned.
"Wow, you guys are all done?" CatchMamemon asked. "This was a lot closer than I thought it would be!"
"Hold on CatchMamemon, it isn't over yet!" Murph declared. "The Mighty Murph needs to confirm your Pokemon or nobody wins!"
Lunick and Solana's Stylers brought out Etemon along with Kingler, Hippowdon, Sudowoodo, Golem, Floatzel, Noctowl, and Jumpluff. Kellyn and Kate took out Cherrymon, Espeon, Dusknoir, Phione, Vileplume, Munchlax, Rampardos, and Weezing. Rand and Keith took out Kenkimon, Digmon, Hitmonchan, Swampert, Electrode, Vaporeon, Venusar, Pidgeot, and Ambipom.
Murph looked at the list he made and checked the parties one by one. Murph nodded. "Mighty Murph is much marveled! This can't be happening! I just can't believe it! This must be a dream, right?"
Just then Professor Hasting made his way through the crowd. He brough Takumi, Leanne, Keisuke, Kyoko and the others with him. "Murph! It's rude to show surprise so boldly. These eight happen to be Rangers of top capabilities. That's all."
"Oh, Prof. Hastings! You are so right! My surprise just didn't come out right!"
Professor Hastings nodded. "By the way, young man, about the Pokemon you and your Digimon friend chose, you selected them well to make for quite a challenge."
"We have Murph to thank for that." The boy replied.
"You are so right again." Murph smiled proudly. "But it didn't stop our Rangers for catching them so fast."
"So, all of them got the right Pokemon?" Keisuke asked.
Nokia nodded. "Yup. They were all seconds apart, but in the end, Ben and Summer made it back here first."
Takumi grinned. "You don't say. Does that mean…?"
CatchMamemon hovered over Ben and Summer. "Let's give a big round of applause for the winners of the "Who's that Pokemon?" Capture Contest"… Team Oblivia Guardians!"
Ben and Summer posed as the other Rangers, the judges and the crowd applauded. "Quest Clear!"
"Wow, nice job you two!" Nema smiled.
"Ha, ha! I knew you could do it!" GrapLeomon smiled.
"Well, that's how it goes." Kellyn sighed before smiling. "But in the end, I'm not too surprised. These two have accomplished a lot in Oblivia in a short time frame."
"Congratulations you two." Rand smiled.
"We all gave it our best." Solana added. "I'm not ashamed to losing to people as accomplished as you two."
"All of you did an amazing job." Nokia smiled. "And let's not forget your partner Digimon! You all worked together very well I must say!"
"Congratulations, Ben! Summer! And the rest of you did a wonderful job as well! I appreciate that you helped Murph waste some time." Professor Hastings smiled.
"Yeah, and by keeping Nokia here entertained, we got some peace and quiet for a while." Arata joked.
Nokia turned to the head of Ranger PR. "By the way, Murph. You mentioned a "Murph Cup" didn't you? You do have a cup prepared for our winners, Ben and Summer, right?"
Murph paused. "What? Er…The thing is…"
"You forgot, didn't you?" Ami asked.
"Of course not! I'll prepare a handmade cup for the third Ranger Contest!"
Professor Hastings grinned. "Hurry, hurry, hurry! Hahaha."
"Well, this adventure was a worth it in the end." Digmon said.
"Yeah, until now we haven't seen much of this world other than the Wireless Tower." Kenkimon added.
"And I got enough inspirations for songs to make a whole album!" Etemon added.
"I did get to learn a lot of things myself." Cherrymon chuckled. "Guess you can always teach an old Digimon new things. And in the end, I'm happy for the victors of this contest."
Kate then winked at Summer. "I think the reason why they won is because of their unbeatable teamwork with each other. Ben and Summer are so adorably close they might as well have called this a date!"
"Ooooh! Hey, GrapLeomon, were they doing anything funny while out on the job?" Nokia grinned.
Summer scowled as she and Ben blushed. "Dangnabit Nokia, put a lid on it!"
GrapLeomon tilted his head. "Funny…? Well, um…I did see Ben trip over a Bonsly hiding in the dirt." The Ranger then elbowed him.
"Not…quite…what I meant…" Nokia murmured. Everyone laughed.
"Really? I thought it was funny when he stumbled into Summer, and they collapsed onto the ground with him landing on her." Summer and Ben both blushed as they both elbowed him.
"Okay, I change my mind, that's adorably hilarious!" Nokia teased. Everyone laughed harder.
Ben, desperate to change the subject turned to Takumi. "So, what were you guys up to?"
"Well, we-
Just then everyone heard a roar. They all looked up at the cliff at the top of the village and saw Raikou, Entei, and Suicune smiling down on them. "Is that the Great Entei?!" A woman from the village asked.
"And Raikou's there as well!" Ralph gapped.
"Suicune too?" Summer asked.
Ben smiled as they trio howled. "Those guys sound like they're in good spirits."
"Remember their Monuments the Pinchers stole the Involiths from?" Kyoko asked. "Webber asked my assistants to help Suicune who he felt was feeling down, so we were restoring their Monuments."
"That's great news!" Summer smiled.
CatchMamemon spun around. "Even legendary Pokemon are here smiling! All of you really made this event a big hit! Thank you!"
"We should be thanking you guys." Ben replied. "I haven't had that much fun in a while!"
"It was fun." Lunick grinned. "But just you two wait, we won't lose next time!"
"Heh! That's my line!" Keith grinned.
"I guess all of us will need to brush up our skills while we're still in Oblivia." Kellyn smiled.
"We'll be improving too, right Ben?" Summer grinned.
"Oh yeah!"
Leanne laughed. "A friendly rivalry between Rangers, huh? They'll undoubtedly get stronger together."
Takumi nodded. "We can't afford to fall behind either. We'll get stronger as well! Together!"
