In Cocona Village, Takumi and Ami were going about their own patrol alongside Lunick, Solana, Yuuko, and Yuugo. "I'm going to miss this place when it's time for us to leave." Yuugo smiled.
"We all will…" Takumi sighed.
"That goes both ways." Lunick smiled. "Oblivia will miss you guys. Trust me."
"Hey, why don't we drop by Herb's place, see how he's doing?" Palmon asked.
"Of course, you'd suggest that flower girl." Terriermon laughed.
"Hey!"
"Sure, why not?" Ami asked. "We haven't seen him in a while."
Takumi knocked on the door. "Come in." They entered to see Herb at his desk in deep focus. "Oh, the Cyber Sleuths! And you brought Rangers too. How's it going?"
"It's going well. Whatchya doing over there?" Ami asked.
"I'd like to publish a guidebook titled "How to Tell Herbs and Grass Pokemon Apart"."
"Huh?"
"Being a professional, I rarely mistake them, but some beginners try to uproot a grass Pokemon thinking it's just a herb. You can imagine what happens next. It may be hard to believe it does happen."
Ami grinned at her brother. "Sound familiar bro?"
Takumi's cheeks turned red as he glared at Ami. "That was ONE TIME!"
"When you and Terriemron dragged yourselves back to base after getting hit with Poison Powder, you sure gave Nokia a fright. Good thing Rand's house has plenty of antidotes, huh?" Yuugo added.
"Why do those stupid Oddish like to bury themselves in the ground anyway?!" Terriermon growled.
"If it makes you two feel any better, it happens to people more often than you think, just like Herb said." Solana said.
Lunick snickered. "Yeah. Murph has stories to tell."
Herb stared awkwardly. "…Yeah, anyway…that's why I'd like a special article in the guidebook titled "Pokemon Rangers and Cyber Sleuths Never Make Such Mistakes!" …though from what I just heard I may need to change it to, I dunno, "Pokemon Rangers and Cyber Sleuths Rarely Make Such Mistakes!" Either way, you guys think you can help me? This will help both beginning herbalists and the Grass Pokemon that suffer from these mistakes…"
"Of course." Ami smiled. "Maybe once this is published you can give my bro here a signed copy!"
"Don't you have a Tentacruel to get abducted by somewhere?" Takumi growled.
"That was ONE TIME!"
Lunick and Solana posed. "Quest On!"
Yuugo sighed. "Anyway, just tell us what you need us to do, Herb."
"Thank you so much! All you have to do is bring me Vileplume, Carnivine, and Venusaur. Please capture these three so I can include their pictures."
"We're on it."
"Where to first?" Guilmon asked.
"Back when we were looking for Latios and Latias' monuments, Nokia and I saw Rand capture a Carnavine." Yuuko replied. "It's on Sophian Road."
"Alright, but when we get there, whatever you guys do, don't go whacking any trees." Takumi warned. "Some angry Vespiquen we had to deal with hid in one and I'd rather not have to fight them again."
"Oh, that reminds me." Yuuko said. "Later today, Erika and I are going berry picking."
"It's nice to see you two bond." Yuugo smiled. "You and Erika could both use more friends."
"I'm just happy you're not going alone anymore." Ami grinned. "I think we can all go without you and Guilmon getting stuck in cocoons, dangling upside down from a tree for an hour."
"True." Takumi nodded. "You're lucky Rand spotted you while on patrol so he could get you two down."
"Wait, what's this about?" Lunick chuckled.
Yuuko's cheeks turned deep red as she glared at Ami. "That was ONE TIME!"
"Honestly, how were we to know there was a Spinark in that tree?!" Guilmon added.
In Tilt Village, Keisuke, Ryuji and Erika were going on a patrol alongside Ben and Summer. A lady was grumbling as she stared into the distance. Hearing her, Ben walked over. "Is something bothering you?"
"My son just left without saying anything and without finishing his chores. Where in the world is he now? I wish you could help me with the washing and cleaning, but I guess that's out of the question. Right, Rangers?"
"Kinda out of our field, sorry." Ben replied.
The woman sighed. "I asked that policewoman with a Digimon to find him for me…"
"A policewoman with-Oh! You meant Makiko?" Summer asked.
"Yes, I think that was her name."
An old woman who heard them walked over. "I saw your boy on the way to the Daybreak Ruins, I think. I told the detective, and she went there. He's usually a good boy, helping you. It worries me too that he didn't say a thing."
"To Daybreak Ruins?" the lady asked as the old woman left. "What business does he have there? He should just say he doesn't like doing chores if that's what's bothering him…"
"We don't know the full story." Erika said. "He must have a good reason for this."
"Maybe, but the Daybreak Ruins are not for kids…Can you bring my son back?"
"Date's already on it, isn't she?" Keisuke asked.
"That only makes me worry more." Erika replied.
"She is kind of brash, isn't she?" Ryuji asked. "Alright, let's go."
Ben and Summer posed. "Quest On!"
"Seriously, why do they keep doing that?" Erika muttered to herself.
Wormmon had sparkles in his eyes. "That is SO COOL!"
"Alright, to Daybreak Ruins!" Ben and Summer started drawing with their Stylers. "Go, Guardian Sign! Entei, come forth!"
"Go, Guardian Sign! Suicune, come forth!"
MegaGargomon and ShineGreymon carried their Tamers and their group towards the flower field where they knew Venusaur was located. As they got closer, they heard singing. "Hey, does anyone else hear that?" Takumi asked.
Two Bellossom, Cherrim, and Venusaur were gathering around a singing Digimon. It was humanoid. It sort of looked like Rosemon. But it was purple with purple and white clothing, black heels, and it wielded two staffs. The one in its left hand had two serpents coiled around it. The other had a multi-colored gem. "Who's that?" Lunick asked.
Solan scanned. "Lotosmon. Date Type Mega Level Digimon. A fairy Digimon that has lady-like calmness and grace. It gives others good dreams to help them forget their suffering."
They slowly approached. "Um…hello?"
The Digimon gasped in surprise and stopped singing as she turned around. "Humans? I didn't think any would find me here."
Lunick looked at all the happy Pokemon around her. "That's quite an audience you got here. Sorry, we didn't mean to disturb you."
"This Pokemon are the first fans I made in this world."
"Fans?" Yuuko asked.
Ami smiled. "You have a dream."
"I want to use my songs to give people a dream. I wish to inspire." Lotosmon replied.
"That's sweet." Solana smiled. "No wonder the Pokemon here take so kindly to you."
"Hmm?" Lotosmon went closer to the Aiba and Kamishiro twins. "I feel something from these young humans."
"What do you mean?" MegaGargomon asked.
Lotosmon kneeled and gently put her hands on Ami's cheeks. "I see dark shadows in the corner of your eyes. A dark past is haunting your poor souls…"
"You…can see that?" Takumi asked.
"If I may…Lotosmon like myself have the ability to ease that kind of suffering. To make you forget it with dreams. I could-
Ami held up her hand. "Lotosmon…thank you. It's touching that you care. But I…we can't let ourselves forget this pain."
"What? Why would you willingly allow yourselves to suffer?"
"Because if we let ourselves forget…what's going to stop us from letting the same thing happen again? Besides, because of what happened, we and our Digimon met. And we have what we have today. If we allow ourselves to forget again, we'll lose everything we worked so hard to create."
"…You humans are a strange bunch."
"You can say that again!" Everyone heard something from the overgrowth and Arukenimon slowly approached.
"Not you again…" Takumi growled.
"Oh? Somebody you know?" Lotosmon asked.
"Better than we want to." Palmon replied. "What do you want this time Arukenimon?"
"Or relax, I'm not here for any of you idiots. My business is with Lotosmon."
"And what business would that be?" Lotosmon asked.
"I know of your powers. The power to manipulate dreams. I also know you have the ability to brainwash others."
"I might. What of it?"
"Have you never considered using those powers to manipulate simple minded humans into becoming your fans? I just happen to know a bunch of weak-minded fools that can be easily manipulated. Team up with me, and I can help you gather all the fans you want. You can be the most popular idol in this-No! In ALL worlds! And all I ask in return is that you help me deal with a few humans that are in the way of my goals."
Ami glared. "Don't listen to her! She's just-
"Spider Thread!" Arukenimon shot a red ribbon that wrapped around Ami's mouth, silencing her. "I wasn't talking to you, human! Lotosmon! Join me! And I will make all your dreams come true…"
The Digimon was silent for a bit. But then she shook her head. "I must decline."
"What?! Why?! Don't you want to have fans?!"
"I do. But I want to get proper fans."
"What are you talking about?"
"I…I have been having strange dreams of my own. Of a voice…someone telling me that songs can touch a heart. But weather the song resonates with someone or not depends on the individual. I cannot force a song to resonate with someone. It's important that the listeners free will makes them a fan. If I rob them of that free will, I cannot call them a fan."
Solana smiled. "Wise words."
"Whenever I feel people don't notice me, and I feel tempted to use…other methods to make them listen…I hear another voice. One saying "Just keep trying"."
Takumi smiled. "That's right. No matter what, you can't give up on your dreams! And taking the easy way, would make that victory hallow."
"And I cannot abide the use of my powers to torment others." Lotosmon said. "That is why I will not comply to your twisted methods. You repulse me."
Arukenimon growled with suppressed rage. "Oh, do I? DO I?! Fine, be that way! Spider Thread!" She shot more threads at Lotosmon. The fairy-like Digimon yelped in surprise as they wound around her torso, ensnaring her arms at her sides. "If you won't work with me willingly…then you can rot in a dark temple in the middle of nowhere until you change your mind!" Arukenimon laughed maniacally as she fled into the overgrowth, dragging Lotosmon along.
Ami pulled the ribbon off of her mouth. "Lotosmon!"
Yuuko turned to her partner. "ShineGreymon, stop her!"
"Roger." ShineGreymon ascended and in a burst of speed rushed after Akurenimon, passed her, stopped in front of her, and made her come to a screeching halt in front of him.
"Acid Mist!" Arukenimon spewed poison at him, but the cloud blew by without affecting him. "What?! How did that not…You're Mega Level, aren't you?"
ShineGreymon cracked his knuckles. "Why, yes, I am."
"By the way…" Arukenimon turned around to see Lotosmon grunting and straining against the Spider Thread binding her and roared as she ripped it apart, freeing herself. "So am I."
Arukenimon panicked. "…Well, if that don't beat all."
"Seven's Fantasia!" Lotosmon shot a rainbow beam from one of her weapons.
"GAAAAAAAAAH!" Arukenimon was blasted off into the distance.
"Huh. Guess you didn't need me." ShineGreymon said as the spider disappeared from sight.
Lotosmon giggled. "Maybe. But I find it sweet that you and your friends care. Even though we just met."
"Well then, shall we return?"
Arukenimon growled as she climbed out of a lake. "Well, that plan was a total bust. Then again…I still have that other Digimon. He should suffice. Speaking of which, I should go see if he's in a more cooperative mood now." She then scurried off.
ShienGreymon and Lotosmon returned to the flower field where the others were waiting for them. "Lotosmon, are you alright?" Ami asked.
"Oh, don't worry, no harm done. I was only startled a little. To think my talents would lead to someone boldly attempting to kidnap me. I best me more cautious in future."
Solana winked. "Sounds like a certain idol could use a few bouncers."
The Pokemon happily came to Lotosmon's side. "Ha, ha. Looks like we have some volunteers." Lunick chuckled.
"I am very lucky to have these fans." Lotosmon smiled. "My fanbase is small, but loyal. By the way, I neglected to ask what brought you humans here."
Yuuko then remembered why they came in the first place. "Oh, right. Is it alright if we borrow Venusaur here for a few minutes?"
"This Pokemon? What for?"
"Our friend is trying to publish a book to help prevent people from mistaking Grass Pokemon for ordinary plants." Takumi replied. "He asked us to bring him a few of the Pokemon in question. Don't worry, once we're done, we'll release the big guy."
"This friend of yours…He's a passionate man, yes?"
"I'd say so."
"I see. Very well." Lotosmon turned to Venusar. "Would you please go with these people and help this man fulfil his dreams?"
The Pokemon roared and then trotted over to Takumi. "Wow. We didn't even need to use our Stylers to befriend it." Solana said. "Thanks, Lotosmon."
As they were about to leave Lotosmon called out. "You there, young lady." Ami turned around. "Do you ever wish you could revisit your happy past? Change things so that they don't lead to disaster?"
"I'd be lying if I said otherwise." Ami replied. "But I learned long ago that the past won't last forever. Same with the present. Time moves on, nothing can change that. So, I need to make sure I don't linger in the past anymore or I'll regret that I didn't move on."
Takumi smiled and put a hand on his sister's shoulder. "We all feel the same."
Everyone got onto MegaGargomon and ShineGreymon. "Good luck picking up more fans!" Ami smiled as they flew away. "We'll keep chasing our dreams too!"
Lotosmon smiled as she watched them leave. "What innocent youths they are…"
"This must be the place." Date said.
"Okay, let's go find this kid!" Lopmon replied. "I'm ready!"
They walked inside the Daybreak Ruins. Just after they got inside, Ben and the others arrived. They dismounted the legendary Pokemon before they took off. "Thanks guys!" Ben then looked at the entrance to the ruins. "Alright, this is the place. I'm willing to bet Date's already inside."
"Let's get moving then." Ryuji replied. They all entered the ruins.
"Ah…it's humid in here." Erika panted.
"Hey, is it just me…" Keisuke looked around. "Or is it quieter in here than normal?"
Ben spotted the wild Baltoy of the ruins ahead of them. "Heads up gang, we could be in for a fight."
"Toy!" The Pokemon shrieked when it saw them and ran away.
"Huh? What was that?" Summer asked. "Normally the Baltoy are way more aggressive."
"I bet Date frightened them." Keisuke replied.
"Yeah, that makes perfect sense to me too." Erika groaned. "Let's just follow the trail of scared Pokemon and reckless destruction."
After making their way to the fourth room Ben spotted someone taking the path to the right. "Was that Date?" Ben asked.
"Huh? Where?" Ryuji asked.
Ben pointed down the passage he was looking at. "I thought I saw someone go down there. But that just leads to a dead end."
"Has she been here before?" Erika asked. "She might not know…"
Ryuji looked down. "That may not be the case. Look."
Everyone looked down at what he was pointing at. "Footprints?" Summer asked. "Wait…there are three sets of footprints. One could be Dates…another might be Lopmons…"
"Judging by the size of the older prints I'd say they belong to a small child. I bet she noticed them and is following them expecting to find the kid."
"Huh. Guess she's more competent than she looks." Erika said.
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Everyone was startled by a scream.
"…You were saying?" Wormmon asked.
"Oh no…come on!" Ryuji ran ahead and the rest of the team followed. They entered the room down the corridor. They looked around. The room was empty. "What? Ben, you sure you saw her go this way?"
"Well, that scream definitely came from here." Keisuke said.
"Ryuji, help!" Everyone looked up. Date was dangling from the ceiling wrapped in red ribbons from her feet to her shoulders. Lopmon was cocooned and dangling near her as well as a blond child and a small Digimon.
"Date?! What happened?!" Ryuji asked.
Ben recognized the ribbons. "Wait a minute…" He looked behind him on the wall just above the doorway they came in. "Scatter!"
Instinctively, Summer, and Ryuji moved the moment they heard him. Keisuke and Erika on the other hand first turned around just as more red ribbons tangled and cocooned them. They yelped as they were pulled skyward to join Date. "Erika! Keisuke!" Ryuji yelled.
Ben shot his Styler to the ground just as more bound him and Summer, tying their arms to their sides. Ben Ben's wrist was still free long enough to draw a Sign. "Go, Guardian Sign! Moltres, come forth!" In a burst of fire, the legendary bird arrived and shot a jet of flame at the wall.
"Huh?! Whoa!" A red spider dropped down.
As Ben and Summer were freed by Staraptor they looked at the attacker. "Arukenimon!" Summer growled.
The Digimon sneered as it got up. "Argh! Just when I was about to get revenge on one of the humans that messed things up last time! This isn't over!" She yelled running off.
"Hey!"
"Forget her, Ben." Summer said. "We should help Date and the others first."
"Why does this keep happening to me?" Keisuke groaned.
"Welcome to my world!" Summer replied. "In more ways than one!"
Date groaned. "You guys better forget you saw this, ya hear me?!"
"Yeah, not so funny now, is it, detective?" Erika replied in a snarky tone.
"Right. Moltres, can you get them down?" Ben asked. The Pokemon shot fire at the ceiling and the ribbons holding up the six cocoons burned, making them drop. All three of them screamed as they fell. Ryuji caught the one holding Date, Ben and Summer on the other hand weren't prepared. Erika landed on Summer, Keisuke landed on top of Ben, the boy landed on Staraptor, Lopmon landed on Tentomon, and the other trapped Digimon landed on Wormmon. "Okay…not what I had in mind…" Ben groaned from the ground.
"Is everyone okay?" Ryuji asked.
Date who was still in his arms had her mouth agape and her face bright red. "Uhhhh…"
"Can someone just get me out of this already?" Erika groaned.
"Get off me and I'll consider it." Summer replied.
Takumi's team returned to Herb's house with the three Pokemon he requested. "Thanks for waiting, Herb." Takumi waved.
"Thank you for bringing me those grass Pokemon!" Herb went over to the first one. "Vileplume! Who was it that got in such trouble thinking this was just a medical plant…? Ah yes, it was Booker."
"See, Takumi, it happens all the time." Lunick said. "Nothing to be embarrassed about."
"Can we please just move on?" The teen groaned.
Herb then went to then next one. "Carvivine! Who was it that got in such trouble thinking this was just a medical plant…? Ah yes, it was Booker."
"Wait, what?" Ami muttered.
Herb then went to the last one. "Venusaur! Who was it that got in such trouble thinking this was just a medical plant…?"
"Don't tell me…" Yuugo whispered.
"Ah, yes, it was Booker. Come to think of it, I may be publishing this book just for Booker…"
Everyone in the room went silent. "…Wow. Suddenly feeling a whole lot better about the Oddish incident." Terriermon muttered.
Herb's eyes widened. "I almost forgot! Let me take a picture off all of you and the Grass Pokemon."
"Really?" Solana asked.
Herb nodded and went to his desk to get a camera. "I'll use it for the cover if it turns out good enough!" As he went to the far end of the room, the others gathered around the Grass Pokemon. "Look this way, everybody. Sat cheese!" His camera flashed. "Thank you all for your help!"
Lunick and Solana released the three Pokemon and after they left, the two posed. "Quest Clear!"
It took a while to unwrap everyone, but soon they were all free and back on their feet. Though Date just stood there, the massive blush still on her face.
Ryuji scanned the Digimon they rescued. "Tapirmon. Rookie Level Vaccine Type. It uses data from humans in REM Sleep as nourishment and can dispel nightmares and malignant computer viruses."
The Digimon bowed. It had a brown floating body and husks. "Thank you so much for rescuing me."
"Yeah, you were so cool Ranger!" The boy added.
"Why was Arukenimon attacking you?" Summer asked.
"I don't know. I just came here to get something, and I found this thing stuck to the ceiling. Then that monster got me, and I've been stuck up there ever since."
"It was I she was after." Tapirmon replied. "She sought my powers."
"Your powers?" Keisuke asked.
"Yes. See, I have an ability to effect dreams. From joyous, peaceful dreams…to torturous nightmares…Arukenimon wanted me to use my Nightmare Syndrome to torment the humans of this region with painful everlasting nightmares. I of course refused. I would never do such a thing to innocents. So, she trapped me here and said she'd keep me in these ruins until I changed my mind. Words cannot express how happy I am for your help, young man."
"Eh, it was nothing." Ben smiled.
"Well rest assured, I will repay the favor tonight. Farewell." Tapirmon flew away.
"Tonight? What's he going to do?" Ben asked.
"I dunno." Keisuke replied.
"By the way, what are you guys doing here?" Lopmon asked.
"Oh, we thought we'd help you look for this little guy." Monodramon replied, pointing at the kid.
"Huh? Have you been looking for me?" The boy asked.
"Your mother asked us to look for you." Summer said.
"Was my mom…mad?"
"Well…"
"Kinda." Keisuke replied.
"Well, I didn't say a word when I left…I'm done here, so I'll head home. If my mom's too upset to listen to me, can you crack a joke to relax her?"
"Is that a joke?" Erika muttered.
"Hey, I know something to make your day better." Ben smiled as he kneeled in front of the boy. "Once we get out of here, how would you like to ride on Entei back to the village?"
The boy gasped. "I get to ride on the Great Entei?! Really?!"
Ben ruffled his hair. "Sure, as soon as we're outside I'll summon it. By the way, what were you doing here in the first place?"
"Well…"
Back in Tilt Village the lady was talking to another old woman when one of them was hit with a realization. "…! Oh, I know! Your son had to go there, because…Yes, that must be it. You may have been too busy to remember."
"Huh? What's with that "know-it-all" face? I have no idea what you're talking about."
Just then Entei rode in with Ben and the boy on its back. Summer and Suicune followed close behind on Suicune, and Kerpymon and HerculesKabuterimon arrived with the Digimon Tamers. "Thanks again!" Ben and Summer waved the Pokemon off as the Digimon reverted to their Rookie forms.
"Oh, my boy!"
"Mom, I'm sorry…"
"Humph! You left everything behind without saying a word!"
Ryuji put up his hand. "Ma'am, hear the boy out."
"Mom…" The boy took something out from behind his back. It was a crystal. "Happy Birthday! Here you are! This is a present from me!"
"Oh, my! Today is…I totally forgot…it's my birthday!" she then looked at what she just received. "Look at this…It sparkles like the rising sun. It's so beautiful."
"I found it the other day in the Daybreak Ruins, and I kept it in a secret place. This is my treasure!"
"My boy, you didn't have to do this…"
"Let me help you with the housework now."
He was about to leave when his mother grabbed his shoulder. "Stop right there! We won't be cleaning nor doing laundry today!"
The old lady behind her laughed. "Hahaha. I guess it's okay today."
Ben and Summer posed. "Quest Clear!"
In the Digital World a young Takumi Aiba, his sister, and their four friends were gathered around the strange hole that brought them to this bizarre world.
"Are we going home already?" little Yuuko asked.
"If we don't go soon, the adults will get worried." Arata replied.
Nokia was smiling to herself. "Whee! That was fun! We got to make new friends, too! We definitely gotta to come back here! All of us!"
"It'd be great if the present could last forever!"
Everyone turned to the hole. "Huh?! What!?"
"If only the past could've lasted forever, too!"
"Something's…coming!" Yuugo muttered.
Something slowly made it's way out of the portal they came from. It was a small human hand. And then… "WAAAAH!" A little boy came falling out of the hole. "Owww…"
Everyone gasped. He had brown hair, and blue shorts with a wite t shirt. Takumi was the first to walk over to him. "Hey, can you hear me?"
"Nnnngh…huh?" The boy groaned as he sat up.
"Here, let me help you up." Takumi offered him his hand.
"Thank you." The boy replied.
"Did you also stumble upon that hole?" Arata asked.
"Yeah. I was just playing with my friend in the forest and it came out of nowhere." The boy looked around. "What is this place?"
"Wait, what forest?" Yuuko asked. "Daddy didn't make a forest in EDEN."
"What's a EDEN?"
"Huh?"
"Benny, wait!" Someone else fell out of the portal. A young girl with brown hair, and a white shirt with a blue skirt. "Eek!"
The boy turned around and caught her. "Summer! Whoa! Are you okay?"
"Yes…" She then looked up and saw Takumi and the others. "Eeep!" She quickly hid behind the boy.
"Oh? Who's that?" Ami asked.
"Sums, it's okay." Ben smiled. "Don't mind her, she's just shy. My name is Ben. Ben Natsuya."
"I'm Takumi Aiba." The redheaded boy peppy replied. "And this is my sis, Ami."
"Hi!"
"My name's Nokia."
"And I'm Arata."
"My name is Yuugo. And this is my sister Yuuko."
"H-hello…"
"I-I'm Summer Minami…hello."
"Staaaa!" Something else came through the portal. A fairly large white and grey bird. "Yeek! What's that?!" Yuuko shrieked.
"That's a huge bird!" Takumi gasped.
"That's not a bird, that's Staravia!" Summer walked over to it and stroked its head. "Did you follow us here?"
"Staravia? Is that a Digimon or something?" Nokia asked.
"You mean Pokemon." Ben replied.
"Huh?"
"Nokia!" Agumon and Gaubumon hurried over. "Is something wrong?! We heard shouting!"
"Oh! Agumon! Gabumon!"
Next a Terreirmon, a Palmon, a Guilmon, a Keremon, and a Hagurumon ran over. "Is everyone alright?" the Guilmon asked.
"Wow, you guys have Pokemon too!" Ben said. "And they can talk!"
"You said "Pokemon" again." Arata said. "These are called Digimon!"
"Huh?"
"Starav!" The Pokemon next to summer howled.
"Um, can we go back to what you said a moment ago?" Yuuko asked. "So, you didn't come here from EDEN?"
"What's a EDEN?" Summer asked. "We were in Vien Forrest when that weird hole appeared."
"What's Vien Forrest?" Nokia asked.
"Hold on, so does that mean if we go back through that hole, then we won't get back?!" Ami asked.
"Wait a minute, that's impossible!" Arata said. "We know for a fact we came from EDEN! These two must be making this up to scare us!"
"No, it's true! Come on, I'll show you!" Ben ran back onto the hole.
"Ah! Ben, wait for me!" Summer and her Staravia went in after him.
"Should we go?" Takumi asked. "What if we don't get back to EDEN and just get lost?"
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Ami replied.
"Would you guys feel better if we went with you?" Terriermon asked.
"But what if you aren't able to get back here if you follow us?" Takumi asked.
"We'll be alright!" Palmon replied. "Besides, I want to see the place you guys came from! It sounds fun!"
"Let's go!" Nokia said. "I wanna see this forest they came from!"
"Nokia, I told you it's just a trick, there is no forest." Arata replied.
"Well, we won't find out standing here." Yuugo said.
Takumi nodded. "Yuugo's right. Let's go already."
One by one the children and Digimon climbed back into the hole. When they went through they were met with a bright sunlight that made them all shield their eyes. Ben and Summer were looking around. "Hey…there really is a forest here!" Nokia said.
Arata was dumbfound. "What?! How?! This is the same hole we used in EDEN!"
"So, this is where you two came from?" Yuugo asked.
"Uh…this is NOT Vien Forrest." Ben muttered.
"Wait…so this isn't where you came from either?" Ami asked.
"No…what's going on?!" Ben yelled ruffling his hands through his hair.
Terriermon's ears lifted up. "Hey, do you guys hear music?"
"Music?" Palmon asked.
"Yeah, it's coming from over there." Summer lead them over to a clearing. That's when they saw the Pichu. Eight of them in total. Seven dancing around one with a Ukulele…
"Hey, what are those?" Keremon asked. "They don't seem like Digimon."
"Are those Pichu?" Summer asked. "I've never seen this many!"
"Oh, how cute!" Nokia gushed.
The dancing Pichu noticed them and started circling around them. "Um…what are they doing?" Arata asked.
"Pichu!" The one with the ukulele trotted over to Ben. "Pichu, pi!"
Summer giggled. "I think he likes you Ben!"
Ben kneeled down to it and picked it up. "Hello!"
Just then someone came crawling out through the trees. It was a teenager with a blue hoodie. Next to him was a Tentomon. "Huh? Hey, Erika, it looks like we aren't the only ones here!"
Everyone was startled and turned around. Just then a girl with a blue hoodie joined him. "Huh? What are a bunch of kids doing here?"
Yuuko hid behind her brother. Summer went behind Ben again. "Who are you?" Takumi asked.
"Us? We're just people helping someone in EDEN." The boy replied. "I'm Keisuke, and this is Erika. We work for Hudie."
Just then a green bug came out from behind Erika and looked at the Digimon in the group. "Hey, look! They got Digimon!"
"What? Are they all hackers?" Erika asked. "But they're just kids?"
"Hey! Who are you calling hackers!? We haven't done anything bad!" Arata shouted.
"What the heck is hacker?" Ben asked. "What the heck is a Digimon?! What the heck is even happening right now?!"
"Sounds like they're lost too Erika." Keisuke said.
The red bug sighed. "So much for asking for directions."
"So, wait…these are also Digimon?" Takumi asked.
"I'm Tentomon. Keisuke's partner. And that's Wormmon. Erika's partner…I guess?"
"Partner?"
"That's what we call each other anyway." Keisuke smiled. "A human working with a Digimon. Partners."
"That sounds so cool!" Nokia smiled. "Hey, Agumon! Gabumon! Can you be my partners?"
"Of course!" they cheered.
"So, you guys also got here from EDEN?" Yuugo asked. "Then dad must have invited you to the demo event to."
"Demo event?" Erika asked.
"Pichu!" The little yellow Pokemon started circling around the humans.
"I think they want to play." Ami giggled.
"Okay! Let's play!" Ben put down the ukulele Pichu and ran off with it. Takumi and Terriermon hurried after him, and one by one the others followed.
Ami looked at the eldest ones in the group. "Mister Keisuke, Miss Erika, will you join us?"
"Mister Keisuke"?" Keisuke raised an eyebrow.
Erika smiled and petted Ami's head. "Alright, maybe for a little while."
"Yay!" Ami and Palmon went off to join the others.
"Um, Erika, shouldn't we also be…um…what were we doing again?"
"Oh, come on Keisuke, we were working on…um…something in EDEN…I think?"
"Well, if nobody remembers then we don't have much else to do, do we?" Wormmon asked. "Come on!" He and Tentomon hurried on ahead.
Keisuke and Erika smiled ad they walked after them. Joining the friends they made on this Dolce Island.
It was late at night. Everyone was asleep. But Ben, Summer, Takumi, Ami, Nokia, Yuugo, Yuuko, Arata, and all their partners were smiling in their sleep.
Just outside two Digimon were floating over the house. "Are you certain about this?" Tapirmon asked. "Didn't they tell you those memories are important to them the way they are?"
"It's not like we're changing their memories or their past." Lotosmon replied. "I just…wanted to do something to ease that pain. Even if only for one night."
Tapirmon looked through the windows of the house and saw Keisuke and Erika. "So, why did you include those two specifically? They had no part of that day."
Lotosmon looked at them. "I'm not sure…they just…felt familiar to me. Something inside me wanted to do something for them."
"I see."
"In any case, I hope this will give them feelings of their past other than fear and guilt. Once's childhood should have happy memories too."
Tapirmon nodded. "Maybe the past won't last forever. Nor the present. But memories are eternal."
"Yes." Lotosmon smiled. "Even if these dreams are not real, they can still be happy memories that stay with them. Forever and ever…"
In the present day, Kyoko smiled as she finished reading Takumi and Ami's report on the Quest from Herb. "Plants are fascinating no matter what world you're from." She looked around her office. "Hmmm…Maybe it would be worth considering growing some things here myself."
Alphamon appeared on her Digivice. "That's not a bad idea. After all, plants can grow things that might go good in coffee."
Kyoko smiled at the thought. "Hmm…Where can I find a cucumber plant?"
