Chapter six:
Raph comes into the kitchen for some coffee and breakfast. He finds Leo is already there eating some cereal while flipping through the newspaper. "Morning." He greets the other.
"Morning Raph." Leo greets back while the other gets his own breakfast.
Donnie and Mikey are probably still sleeping.
Raph almost can't believe that it has been a month since he and Leo became mates. He turns as Splinter enters the kitchen looking at him.
"Raph. Can you come to my room before you eat breakfast?" Splinters words makes Leo look up.
"Sure sensei." Raph goes with Splinter and they sit on their knees facing each other. "What is it?"
"I wanted to make sure that you weren't losing track of time." Splinter tells Raph. "You will be starting your rut soon. And next month Leo will have another heat. His heats seem to come every second month."
"It hardly feels like that time has passed." Raph admits to the other glancing down. He had indeed lost track of time just trying to find hidden moments with Leo.
"You can be excused from training today to prepare for your rut." Splinter informs Raph. "Starting tomorrow it will hit you any day."
Raph looks back to Splinter. "Father. I actually want to do something a little different." He sees Splinter tilt his head curiously. "But I need some time to figure it out before I decide for sure."
Splinter is silent for a moment then nods. "Alright my son. Just be cautious with new ideas."
"Don't worry sensei. I know what I'm doing." Raph leaves and heads to the kitchen. He finds Donnie there having been given the newspaper from Leo. He meets with Leos eyes and gestures his head to the entrance of the kitchen. He hopes Leo gets the message that they need to talk.
Leo nods and gets up after Raph leaves the kitchen. He heads off with Donnie hardly noticing anything going on.
The two go into the training room and keep their voices low.
"Did everything go okay?" Leo inquires looking into Raphs eyes that look back.
"Splinter was just making sure I didn't forget my upcoming rut. Starting tomorrow it'll hit any day. I completely forgot all about it." Raph admits to Leo who blinks in understanding.
"Ah. I am guessing you want me to help you with your rut." Leo guesses to which Raph nods his head. He does see that it is fair since Raph helped him with his heat.

"It's okay Raph. I wanna help you. You helped me and mates should help each other." Leo tells Raph then leans closer to him. "Actually. I have a secret room Splinter made me for my heats. It's entrance is in my room. No one will know."
"If you're sure." Raph strokes Leo's head going down to his cheek, pausing as Leo nuzzles his hand.

"Okay. I'll tell Splinter the plan. If that is okay."
Leo nods his head and he lets Raph leave. He heads to his room to get things ready for this.
Raph knocks on Splinters door and is invited in. He sits in front of him.
"Ah. Raph. Back so soon?" Splinter greets to which Raph nods.
"Yeah. It was a quickly made decision." Raph confirms to his father. "And I must confess something. Just before Leo lost himself to heat we did talk. And we decided to be mates. Since Mikey and Donnie don't know Leo's secret yet we've kept it hidden. I talked to him about the fact that my rut is coming up. We are going to use the secret room to deal with it." "Well that is wonderful news." Splinter smiles as Raph stares at him glad to hear his happiness. "I did notice the sparks between you. Though Leo told me he didn't plan on taking a mate since he was hiding the truth. You two can deal with this together if that is what you both decided on. I will help hide it if you are not ready to come out to the others."
"Thank you sensei. I don't want to make Leo have anything revealed before it is time. I can tell he has been considering how to tell the others. But anyways, how are we going to cover up this plan for my rut?" Raph inquires and sees the wisdom plus cunning on Splinters face.
"I have covered for Leo plenty of times. I can handle this. There's a few things I could say. We won't use the migraine excuse. We don't want it to be overused or seem weird if he ends up getting one." Splinter sees Raph nod in understanding. "I could tell them that I assigned Leo to make sure that you are okay during your rut. So you eat and stay hydrated. Since they see him as a beta it'll make sense to them as they'll think he can't be affected by your rut."
"Yeah. This can work." Raph agrees to those ideas. He feels relief that Splinter does know how to keep the two from finding out the truth. He knows that the other only told him what he could say as he knew it was what Raph needed.
"Alright. Go get some breakfast in you. I'm sure Leo is preparing his secret room for you. You might want to make sure you know it before you spend time with him there."
Raph nods then leaves to the kitchen. He finds that Mikey stole his cereal. He just gets himself another bowl and eats it before heading to Leo's room. He pauses as Leo opens the door about to exit his room.
"Ah. Raph. You're here. Come." Leo heads back into his room with his mate following him. "Everything go well with Splinter?"
"Yeah. He's happy for us. And said he saw the attraction between us." Raph confirms as Leo shifts some stuff away from a wall. "He told me that he's going to cover us. That you would be assigned to make sure I don't die during my rut basically. Since they think you're a beta. You just might have to pretend to bring stuff to my room I'm guessing. If they see you that is."
"That's good. And sensei will make sure that two will have no idea. Plus I will be making sure you don't die." Leo points out knowing that if they think he's helping keep Raph alive, then Raphs scent on him won't raise any questions. He reveals a metal ring on the wall. He pulls it to which part of the wall slides open showing the secret room. "Thought you'd want to have a look before we use it." He mentions and reaches in turning on a light switch.
"Splinter suggested the same." Raph admits heading into the room. He sees that it is padded with soundproofing material. He finds the material soft under his feet. He can really smell Leo's omega scent and it sends an electric spark down his spine. He pushes it away as he takes in the room.

"This will work." Raph confirms with a nod of his head then turns to Leo.
"And when it's closed the smell stays inside. Plus all our bedroom doors also don't let our scents from inside leak out. So that helps. I just have to have some of the solution to hide the scent if it enters my room, plus so sensei can spray himself down if needed." Leo explains as Raph exits the hidden room. He pushes it closed cutting off the scent.
"Don't worry. We've got this. That room is made for these kinds of things." Raph tells the other. "I'll make sure that I have what I need so we're ready."
"Okay." Leo lets Raph leave the room at this. He is a little nervous that he might not be able to keep up. He pushes that thought away as Raph kept up with him in his heat. He can do this.
Raph pretends like it's a usual rut as if he'll spend it alone. He goes into the pantry grabbing a bag of chips he saves for his ruts. "Yeah. Basically any day now." Raph confirms to the two of them. "So I might as well prepare." He sees them nod so he leaves the kitchen. He brings the chips to Leo's room after making sure he won't be noticed. He finds Splinter in the room with Leo. He nods to them and goes into the secret room.
"Don't worry. Raph filled me in on the plan. He even thought of the idea of pretending to take things to his room if they will see." Leo says as the two continue their conversation. "I promise that I can handle this."
"Yes. I do believe you both will be a bit more prepared this time." Splinter sounds glad and catches Raphs eye when he exits the little room.
"I think so too." Raph confirms as well.
"I will leave you two to prepare then." Splinter leaves the room with that so they can make sure everything will be all set. He heads into the kitchen just as Mikey and Donnie are about to leave.
"Should we head to the training room sensei?" Donnie inquires to which Splinter nods his head.
"Yes. I want to do some training with the two of you. Stuff I've been holding off however now that you two are mates I can teach it. It'll be some extra teamwork training. Mates can get protective of each other. Especially the alphas over their omegas. We will be touching on that as well during the training. So we will take this opportunity of Raphs rut to do this training." Splinter explains to the two of them.
"What about Leo?" Donnie inquires wondering what he would be doing during this.
"Leo will be absent from training. I have asked him to make sure Raph eats and drinks during his rut for me. So I can focus on your training." Splinter explains to them to which they nod in understanding. He turns and heads to the training room. He hears the other two following after him.
Back in Leo's room a little later, Raph turns as Leo enters the secret room.

He hears the door open and close. He sighs in relief then sneakily heads to his room. He ensures Raphs door is closed to keep up appearance that he's in there. The two head out of the training room.
