Chapter nine:
Raph takes the plate of food to Leo's room. He enters and sees the other turn to him. "Donnie made some lunch. He gave me some for you as well." He hands it to Leo who takes it with a thank you. He sits down next to the other who pauses feeling the note. He watches as Leo puts the plate down after grabbing the note, in Donnies handwriting, with tape on the top.
Leo looks to it reading it quietly to himself.
'No matter what you are cared for. I'm sorry about just making things worse. I don't mind what you are. You're still my brother and that does matter to me. You don't have to hide.'
Leo blinks at the note rereading it then glances to Raph, silently questioning if his mate had something to do with this.
Raph just smiles to Leo not really confirming or denying anything yet.
Leo seems to have figured out that it was Raph. He turns away still a little uncertain, though Raph can tell his mates uncertainty is starting to crack.
Raph is admittedly glad to see this. He turns away as Leo puts the note to the side to eat some of the food. He lays back happy with how this has started.
The next day Leo is in his room alone as Raph stepped out for a little bit. He doesn't want his mate to have to be stuck here just because he is hiding away. He turns as someone manages to slide a note under his door. He gets up from sitting on his bed to investigate it. He finds that it looks to be in Mikeys hand writing this time. He crouches and picks it up before standing to read it.
'You're awesome the way you are. It doesn't matter whether or not your a beta. We still care about you and if you'll let us we're willing to help however you need. You don't have to tell everyone if you don't want to. We won't tell them either. Promise.'
Leo smiles softly and glances to the door. He thinks about coming out of his room only to feel slight hesitance. He tries to reach for the doorknob only to stop himself. He sighs as he is starting to get the want to go out just not strong enough his body will let him. He heads away and puts the note beside the other one. He decides to train instead.
Later Raph, after spending some time with his mate in Leo's room, is helping Splinter with making supper for everyone. He had asked if they could make Leo's favorite to which Splinter agreed.
Donnie and Mikey step out of Donnies room each holding a note they have written. Donnie turns to Mikey seeing the other looking over his note.
Donnie can remember what Mikey wrote as he had asked for an opinion on it.
'You'll always be a leader in my eyes. I really hope that you come out to join us again. I do understand if you want to hide away for a bit though. We won't force you to come out. We just want to make sure you know that you are loved and cared for by all of us. Take the time you need to. We'll be waiting for you when you're ready to come out.'
Donnie turns to look to his note rereading it silently to himself.
'I don't have thoughts of possibly having to leave if you're not a beta anymore. Whichever one of the three ranks you are doesn't matter to me. I am sorry for the things I had said before I knew the truth. I'm going to do my best to support you. Like I should have said I would when we discussed it as a what if scenario. Just because I want to protect my mate doesn't mean I should disregard my family. You're my brother and you always will be. Let us support you like a family should.'
Donnie hopes that this will help Leo out. He turns as a hand is placed on his own. He smiles to a smiling Mikey.
Mikey leads him to Leo's door by the hand he is holding.
The two stop just outside of the door and slip the notes under the door. They head off once that is done and enter the kitchen. They sit at the table to wait for supper to be done.
"It smells really good you two." Mikey mentions taking an inhale of air through his nose.
"Thanks!" Raph gives his brothers a smile before turning back to finish the cooking. "It's ready now." He dishes up plates of the stew for everyone.
Suddenly an omegas scent enters the room causing them to turn, only to see Leo standing in the entrance to the kitchen.
Raph puts down the spoon he was using to put the food on the plates. He hurries over to his mate and hugs him happy that he has decided to come out.
Mikey and Donnie join in also happy that the other is now willing to let them in. They know they'll have to get used to smelling Leo's omega scent. They are willing to do that because they want Leo to not have to feel like he has to hide.
Leo hugs them back feeling a heavy weight has lifted as his family really does accept him. Omega and all.
Splinter smiles feeling pride for Leo's bravery and relieved that he is finally out again.
They all know Leo will probably still pretend to be a beta outside of the lair, however that is just fine with them. They are just happy that he has let them in and trusts them with the truth.
Two days later Donnie glances to his phone as he gets a reminder. "My rut is going to start." He realizes and knows that he'll have to prepare for it. He turns as Mikey enters the lab smiling wide.
"Hi Donnie! What are you doing?" Mikey inquires coming over and hugging his mate from behind. He blinks being able to pick up on that something is on his mates mind. "What is it Donnie?" He inquires to the other.
"My rut is going to start soon. I really should prepare." Donnie admits and looks to his mate seeing a smile appear on his face.
"Then I can help you!" Mikey looks rather excited about this. "What do you want to do to prepare for this one?"
"Well I think that I should get some pain pills for if you need it. I should make sure my room is ready for what we are going to do." Donnie begins going down the list in his head then meets Mikeys shining eyes. "Are you really sure you'll be okay to help me? This will really be a test on your energy if you help me with this. Ruts and heats last for days even with a mate. Though it does reduce it by a few days compared to being alone."
"Donnie. I'm sure." Mikey assures his mate leaning their foreheads together; their eyes close as they enjoy each other's closeness. "I want to help you with your rut. I know that when I have my first heat you'll help me. We can do this."
"Yeah." Donnie agrees with a soft smile as he really does start to believe that things will be okay. "Let us get ready then." He adds to which Mikey hums in agreement. "We should also tell the others." He feels the other nod his head so the two head out hand in hand.
Mikey takes them to where Splinter is talking to Raph and Leo in the living room.
The three turn as the two approach them.
"My rut will be starting soon." Donnie begins knowing it'll be best if the others know that they need time off.
"And I am going to help him." Mikey chimes in happily.
"You two take the time you need off then." Splinter nods his head to this then turns to Mikey. "You will have to help make sure that your mate does eat during this." He reminds the other who nods his head.
"I understand." Mikey confirms. "I won't forget."
"Alright." Splinter then turns back to Raph and Leo. "This works out perfectly. I can give you the training of fighting as mates while they deal with that. Just like I did for your brothers while Raph was in his rut."
Raph and Leo look to each other silently confirming with smiles that they are both excited about this. They feel like they'll really be able to fight even better with this training.
Splinter turns back to Mikey and Donnie. "You two do whatever you need to in order to get yourselves ready."
The two bow to him then head away to prepare.
Fifteen days have gone by since Leo finally came out of his room.
They have been training like normal.
Plus Leo and Raphs training of fighting as mates went by rather well, while Mikey helped Donnie with his rut.
Mikey had definitely proved he could keep up with Donnies rut.
The four brothers are out in the city walking together as they watch out for trouble.
Leo is of course hiding his omega scent pretending to be a beta still; not that his brothers really mind.
They are stopped when some members dressed in black, even covering their faces and heads leaving their eyes visible.
"You four must be those turtles we were told about." One mentions taking a step closer as others turn to see what is going on. "The ones that took on Shredder himself."
"Yeah. What's it to you?" Raph challenges as they stand together with confidence.
The four turtles withdraw their weapons when the now clearly enemies do so.
"We're going to become famous when we take you down." The enemy that had spoken leads the charge of the eight enemy group.
The turtles go in to fight the enemy.
Donnie spins his staff hitting two enemies that try to come at him from either side. He then leaps out of the way of an attempted attack. He tackles the enemy managing to use his staff to deflect the other enemy's attack.
Mikey finds himself in a nunchuck battle as the enemy that has gone after him uses them too. He blocks the attacks and tries to advance on the enemy. He tries to get a hit in and hits the others shoulder. He leaps back to avoid an attack before leaping forward again to attack.
Raph blocks one enemy's sword then slashes another enemy who tries to attack. He hits the arm of the enemy that charged at him.
The enemy drops his machete with a cry of pain.
Raph slams a kick into that enemy's stomach sending him backwards to the ground. He turns his full attention to the other enemy using his weapons to knock the sword away. He then dashes forward slamming his body into said enemy. He also swings in attack slicing this enemy's arm.
The enemy falls back then the other enemy leaps onto Raphs back.
Raph swings himself around as the enemy holds on for dear life. He also stabs the enemy's shoulders to try to get him off.
Leo uses one sword to knock away one enemy's katana, then uses his other sword to block an attack from the second enemy. He slightly turns as a third enemy charged for him. He spots the large kitchen knife in his hand. He swings his free sword upwards sending the knife flying into the air backwards. He then swings again as that third enemy comes at him after recovering from the surprise. He uses the back of his sword into the enemy's stomach to push him away. He turns hearing hurried footsteps. He has no time to react as the first enemy that had attacked him charges him.
The enemy slams into Leo hard enough to send him flying backwards.
Leo crashes into the fountain splashing the water. He groans softly at the feeling of his upper back and back of his neck having hit the middle decoration. He shifts to sit up not yet realizing that the water, including the water being sprayed on him from the part where the middle decoration sends it out, is washing away the solution hiding his scent; that the fact that the water doesn't have a scent to cover his omega scent it'll be obvious. His eyes widen when he sees some of those nearby look to him in surprise. He has realized too late however.
The fighting stops as Leo's omega scent washes over them.
Raph, Donnie, and Mikey hurry to Leo's side realizing what has happened. They stand ready to protect him as now some of the nearby alphas join the enemies in advancing.
Leo feels panic shoot through him, and fear at realizing how much danger his brothers are being put in now. He didn't mean for this to happen at all.
