In the Hudie Café, Arata was hanging out with Nokia, Takumi and Ami along with Keisuke and Yu who were on break. They were all watching a TV in the corner that was on the news. "The two teens who caught the shoplifter turned out to be assistants of the Kuremi Detective Agency." A reported said. "Thanks to them the criminal was safely brought into custody with nobody getting hurt."
Nokia grinned. "You two really are getting the hang of this detective business."
"And you two were just out getting groceries. Suddenly you catch a shoplifter." Yu added. "That must have been a surprise for you."
Ami chuckled. "Yeah, it was sudden, I'll give it that. Takumi and I were about to walk in when we heard someone shout "thief" and as a guy came running out, we just tackled him to the ground."
"It was almost out of instinct really." Takumi muttered.
"Don't you tow think that was a little careless?" Keisuke asked from nearby. "I mean what if he was armed? You could have gotten hurt?"
"Well, this technically wasn't the first robbery we thwarted." Ami replied. "There was that "event" in Aqua Resort?"
"What event?" Yu asked.
At Rands House, Takumi and Ami were listening to Kyoko's briefing. "A new case huh?" Takumi asked.
"Yes. The client is in Aqua Resort. He said he needs help with something and that someone suggested he turn to us for help."
"Do we know who that someone is?" Ami asked.
"No, but that shouldn't matter right now. We're heading to Aqua Resort. The client is an old man who lives in a house in the upper right corner of the resort."
"Okay." Takumi nodded as he and Ami stood up.
Takumi, Ami, and Kyoko all entered the house in Aqua Resort where an old man waited for them. "Greetings, detectives. I have a small favor to ask."
"The message mentioned something was stolen?" Kyoko asked.
"Yes. My sister's brooch. It's something she really cares about."
Just then another old man entered with a elderly lady behind him. "Don't listen to that old man! I'm the one with a request for you! My wife lost her precious brooch!"
"Come again?" Ami muttered.
"Be quiet!" the other man barked. "I'm the one talking to the detectives!"
The woman sighed. "Don't be so irritated, both of you. I don't want you two to fight over my brooch."
"You stay out of it!" The brother snapped. "You're the one who lost the brooch I, your brother, gave you."
"What nonsense!" the husband scowled. "I'm the one who gave her that brooch, when we were childhood friends!"
"It was a present from me!"
"No, it was a present from me!"
The woman sighed and turned to Kyoko and her assistants while her brother and husband continued to argue. "So sorry to have gotten you involved, Cyber Sleuths. I've been telling them who gave it to me, but they are just too stubborn to listen to me."
"Never mind them." Kyoko said. "What's important is finding that brooch. Can you describe it?"
"There is a message on the back of the brooch. They'll stop fighting when they see it, I think. I know you New Heroes are busy, so you can wait until you find time. Could you find my missing brooch?"
"We'll get right on it." Kyoko replied. Takumi and Ami nodded.
"I wish now I hadn't been so careless…I was on a bench and dozed off a little. I think I heard a sound like "Snea!" or Sel!" When I woke up, my brooch was gone."
"On a bench you say?" Takumi asked. "I guess we'll start there and look for witnesses or clues."
"Thank you."
"Alright my Watsons, shall we get going?" Kyoko asked.
The twins nodded and they left. As they went outside, they saw an angel with a staff waiting for them. "We meet again Cyber Sleuths."
"Angemon?" Takumi asked. "What are you doing here? Is Chitose around?"
"Who?"
"Huh?"
Terriermon looked at him. "Wait…Takumi, I think this is a different Angemon."
"We met before." Angemon explained. "I hired you to help me with an affair regarding Devimon."
"Oh yeah, that's right!" Ami replied. "Wait…you remember?!"
Alphamon spoke from Kyoko's Digivice. "Didn't I tell you that some Digimon you encountered before are slowly starting to remember the events in your world?"
"That is correct." Angemon nodded. "I have regained my memories from our last encounter. I must again apologize for how things went back then. In any case, I was the one who recommended you to that old man."
"Which one?" Palmon asked. "The husband and brother of the lady who lost that brooch are arguing over that."
"There were two old men involved? Well, anyway, I just wanted to let you know about what's going on. You probably figured this out, but this is a matter of theft."
"Yes, we suspected as much." Kyoko replied.
"The truth is, there have been a number of thefts in Aqua Resort lately. And I know who the thief is. It must be Devimon."
"You think so?" Ami asked. "What makes you say that?"
"As I said before, he enjoys causing trouble for humans and Digimon alike. Ever since he came to this world, I've had to stop him from bothering others numerous times."
"So, he is here in this world…" Takumi said. "Look Angemon, I know you have it out for the guy, but without any proof we can't be certain that it wasn't someone else responsible for this."
"How can you say that?! Devimon is a twisted coward who restlessly abuses the weak! If we leave him be, who know what other kinds of mischief he'll create!"
"Calm down." Kyoko said. "We aren't dismissing him as a suspect. But we still need more info on this case. To start with, do you know where Devimon is?"
"Not yet, but I suspect he is hiding in the forest near here. I was hoping you could join me in my search."
"In a bit. First, I want to investigate the scene of the crime. Also, if there is a crime spree going on, I want to ask around and find out what else has been stolen."
"What? Why would- Oh! I see! You want to make sure Devimon returns everything once we capture him!"
Takumi sighed. "I think you're missing the poi-
"Excellent. I'll go ahead and search for Devimon. Please join me when you are done." With that Angemon flew off.
"That guy's as hot headed as ever." Palmon sighed.
Ami groaned. "I just hope he doesn't fight us again."
Just then, Terriemron spotted something running by. A small black creature with claws. "Hey, did you see that?"
"See what?" Ami asked.
"Something just ran by. Maybe it was a Pokemon, or a Digimon? It was small and black."
"Which way did it go?" Takumi asked.
"Towards the pier."
Kyoko put a hand on her chin. "Interesting…Takumi, Ami, can you two go after it? I'm going to ask around and search the area for clues."
"Okay." Ami replied.
Takumi, and Ami stopped by the pier when they spotted the small black creature in front of a fisherman. It looked like it was giving the man something. The man looked surprised at and after a moment gave it back. After listening to him talk the Pokemon looked happy and went away. "Was that what you saw?" Palmon asked.
"Yup." Terriemron replied.
Takumi looked at his Digivice. "That was a Sneasel. An Ice/Dark Type Pokemon. It's a cunning one that hides in darkness and conceals sharp claws in its paws. Hmmm…"
Ami looked at her brother. "Takumi, do you think…?"
"Ami, go talk to that fisherman. Terriermon and I are going to tail that thing for a bit. Let's go Terriermon."
"Okay." Takumi's Digimon followed him towards the other side of the pier.
Ami approached the fisherman with Palmon. "Excuse me sir, can we ask you a few questions?"
The man sighed. "Please don't bother asking me if I've caught anything."
Ami chuckled. "I guess every fisherman in Oblivia is having hard luck. But no, we wanted to ask about that Sneasel you were talking to just now."
"What? Sneasel? Oh, the one that came to me just now?"
"Yes, forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looked like you were familiar with it."
"It appears to like me, I think. It'll sit there and watch me fish. Come to think of it, it may like fishing more than it likes me. It may not look it, but it's a kind one. Ever since I lost my fishing weight, it's been bringing me things, like berries."
"How kind of it." Palmon smiled.
"I told it I'd rather have something that sinks in water. Guess what it brought me then?"
"Was it a brooch by any chance?" Ami asked.
"Is that what that was? I couldn't tell, but it came to me with this shiny thing. I thought it was too nice for a weight. So, I told the Sneasel to keep it as a treasure, instead. You can call me generous!"
Ami put a hand on her chin. "I see…Thanks, that's all I wanted to know." She then left with Palmon when a Staraptor's cry got her attention. Lunick flew in and waved the wild Pokemon off. "Lunick?"
"Hi, Ami! Takumi called Rythmi asking for a Pokemon Ranger to help on a case you two and Kyoko were on. Where are they?"
"Well Kyoko went to look for clues and witnesses. As for Takumi…"
"Psst! Over here!" Takumi waved them over from behind a crate he was hiding behind. They hurried over to him and crouched behind his hiding spot. "So, Ami, what did you find out?"
"It looks like Sneasel was trying to help that man find a replacement for a fishing weight he lost. He said it just tried to give him a shiny object and he told it to keep it. I think it might be the brooch that woman lost."
Takumi pointed at the Pokemon. "I think you may be right about that." The Pokemon held up a shiny object happily and walked down the pier. "That's why we need you Lunick. This situation calls for a Ranger's touch."
Lunick took out his Styler. "Leave it to us. Right pal?"
His Partner nodded "Min!"
The old woman entered the scene with her brother and husband. "Ranger? Are you trying to stare down that Sneasel?" the brother asked.
The other man sighed. "I guess we can't search for that brooch 'cuase we can't stop fighting…"
"You mean that brooch?" Takumi asked. Pointing to what the Pokemon was holding.
The woman gasped. "Look! That thing the Sneasel has!"
The men's eyes widened. "That's the brooch I gave her!" they exclaimed.
"Sneasel is treating it like a treasure or something…"
Just then the Fisherman arrived. "Hmm. I never even imagined. Sorry, Sneasel. The shiny thing you have happens to be something precious to this lady. You should give it back."
"Sneasel!"
The man looked at the detectives. "Cyber Sleuths, it's not usually a stubborn one. Hey, Ranger, maybe you can talk to it with your twirling thing."
"It's called a Styler." Lunick replied. "And don't worry, I'm on it. Capture On!" Sneasel threw black razor blades at the device. Lunick maneuvered it around the attack. When Sneasel tried to pounce at the capture line, Plusel zapped it with electricity. While it was stunned, Lunick finished his capture.
The Sneasel sadly gave Lunick the brooch. The fisherman walked up to it. "You see, Sneasel, it's not a good thing to take away somebody's prized possession. But I'm the one who told you to keep it. It's really my fault. So here! Take this instead, Sneasel!" the fisherman gave the Pokemon something else. "How do you like my favorite float? It's equally shiny, isn't it?"
The Pokemon smiled. "Sneasel!"
"You are so kind." the woman smiled.
Ami nodded. "Yeah, you really are generous."
"No need to mention it. By the way, I've been wondering…" he glanced at the old men. "Both of them just yelled, "That's the brooch I gave her!" I wonder who's right."
"Oh, please don't make them start again…" Takumi put a hand over his face and sighed.
The woman smiled. "Well, all you have to do is turn the brooch over, and…" she watched Lunick do as instructed. "Ranger, please read it aloud for us."
Lunick smiled as he spoke. "Happy 12th Birthday! To my little sis. Happy 12th Birthday! To my favorite girl. We bought this brooch together out of friendship. Please treasure it forever!"
The men gasped. "Oh, I totally forgot about that!" the brother said.
"It was a gift from both of us after all!" the husband exclaimed.
The woman smiled. "Hehehe…These two have always been like this. They are good friends, but they fight all the time."
"Stop dragging your feet! You have a lot to answer for!"
"Okay, first off, we're flying, I'm not dragging my you feet idiot! Second stop pulling on my horn! Third, for the last time I didn't do anything! (Yet)"
Everyone looked up and saw Angemon drag a Devimon over to them by one of his horns. "Ah! Cyber Sleuths, there you are! I've captured Devimon."
"Wow…that was fast." Takumi said.
"You flatter me, but he won't tell me where he stashed what he stone! I was hoping you might be able to help me interrogate him."
"Yeaaaaah, about that…" Terriermon mumbled. "We already caught the real thief."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"This Sneasel here stole my broach." The woman said. "But it's learned it's lesson and returned it. All is well."
"What? The thief wasn't Devimon, but this Pokemon?!"
"I told you, you moron, now let me go!" Devimon yelled.
"But wait, what about the other stolen objects, did it return them?"
"Other stolen objects?" Lunick asked.
"Oh yeah. Angemon said other things were stolen." Takumi turned to the fisherman. "You said Sneasel was looking for a float replacement for you for a while, right?"
"Yeah, but like I said to your sister here, it's usually just berries and stuff."
"Well, nobody reported stolen food." Angemon said. "The criminal has been stealing things like jewelry. Did Sneasel not take them as well?"
"No, just the broach."
"So, if it wasn't Sneasel the one who stole all that other stuff, then who did?" Ami asked.
Angemon glared at Devimon. "Was it you?!"
"Did we not just go over this?! NO IT WAS NOT ME YOU FEATHERED FREAK!"
"Freak"?" the lady's brother asked. "Coming from him, that must be rather hurtful…"
"Well, we just confirmed it wasn't this Pokemon, so I don't know who else it could be other then you!" Angemon retorted.
"Unless…there's a third suspect." Everyone turned to Kyoko as she approached. "Good job getting that brooch back. That's one mystery solved."
"Kyoko?" Lunick asked.
"I was going around and asking people. Some of the victims told me that they would hear a screech before their possessions were stolen. Also, I went to the scene of one of the crimes and found…this." She took a white bird's feather from her pocket.
"A feather?" the husband asked. "Did a bird Pokemon do this?"
"Not exactly. See, my partner is very knowledgeable about Digimon."
Alphamon came out from Kyoko's Digivice and took the feather. "Yes, and I can deduce that this feather did indeed come from a Digimon. A rather troublesome one at that."
"Really?" Ami asked. "Who?"
Just then everyone heard a screech, and something flew by them. In a flash both the brooch and the lure Sneasel just received were gone. Takumi flinched. "What the-
"My brooch!" the woman gasped. Sneasel cried out too.
Alphamon took flight and easily caught up to the attacker, stopping in front of it. The Digimon shrieked as it came to a halt. A simple flick and Alphamon sent it hurling towards the ground. Takumi, Ami, Lunick, the fisherman and the three elders yelped before running in separate directions to avoid the impact. There laid a white creature with talons and wings for arms but had the upper body of a human and wore a mask. When it hit the ground, the brooch and lure along with a bunch of other shiny objects scattered around the ground. "What is that?!" Lunick asked.
Kyoko smirked. "Caught you in the act…Harpymon."
Ami put on her Digivice. "Harpymon. Data Type Armor Digimon. A thief Digimon known as the "Snatcher" due to it stealing treasure and valuable Data."
Angemon let Devimon go. "So, she was the one behind all the thefts?!"
The bird Digimon groaned and looked up as Alphamon landed in front of her. "H-how…?"
"The case with the brooch broke the pattern the other thefts shared. It was easy to deduce from the clues we got from this woman that there was a different thief involved in this case. I knew if you caught wind that someone else stole something valuable, you wouldn't be able to resist."
"Your hot streak ends here!" Takumi said. "Give it up!"
Harpymon sprung to her feet. "Never!" It crossed its wings.
"Everyone, get down!" Lunick yelled.
"Wind Seeker!" She spread her wings and blades of wind flew everywhere. The humans had to get down in order to avoid getting hit. It then took off.
"Oh, not you don't!" Angemon took flight and smacked her over the head with his staff. "You have caused trouble for the peaceful humans of this world. Now prepare to face justice for your crimes! Heaven's Knuckle!" Harpymon dashed as Angemon shot a golden light that trailed as she flew around, avoiding the attack. She then rushed towards Angemon who prepared to block the attack, when Devimon rammed into her from the side.
Ami gasped. "Devimon?!"
The black Digimon growled. "I was just minding my own business in those ruins, just wanting to have a little me time with nobody bothering me, and then the feathered boy scout over here whacks me out of nowhere and starts yelling at me for something I didn't even do, and drags me all the way to this annoying, human-infested dump! And it's ALL! YOUR! FAILT! FEATHER-FACE!"
"What's he got against feathers?" the fisherman asked.
"Death Claw!" Devimon's hand extended towards Harpymon who flew out of the way and was about to charge when it felt something pull its tail. It looked behind it to see Alphamon holding it. She effortlessly flung it back to the ground.
Harpymon growled as she slowly got to her knees and looked over her shoulder to the three flying Digimon wanting a piece of her. "This went poorly. Perhaps it's time to call it a day…" She then noticed Sneasel pick up his lure and the lady pick up her brooch. "But first…"
Lunick saw Harpymon dart towards them. "Hey, look out!" Both of them shrieked and braced themselves.
Then a Thorn Whip coiled around Harpymon when she was an inch away. Behind her, Rosemon stood with her whip in hand. "Yeah, no." She flung Harpymon into the air where MegaGargomon was waiting. He held his hands together and hammered them into Harpymon, smashing her back into the ground.
Alphamon flew over to the unconscious Digimon. "Well done. I'll take Harpymon to the old cage in the warehouse. I modified its electronic lock to serve as a prison for Digimon in case something like this ever happened."
"Good thinking." Takumi nodded before turning to the remaining jewelry on the ground. "But first, we better return all the loot she stole."
Angemon sighed. "Devimon, I…owe you an apology. It seems I was mistaken."
"Yeah, no kidding you dolt. Seriously, every time something happens you always blame me!"
"Because you keep causing trouble for everyone!"
"Hmph! Whatever! I'm done wasting time here with you idiots!" Devimon flew away.
Angemon turned to the others and bowed his head. "I'm truly sorry for all of this…"
"It's okay Angemon, we've dealt with more obnoxious humans and Digimon in the past." Ami replied as her and her brother's Digimon returned to rookie status.
The woman turned to the heroes. "Ranger, Cyber Sleuths, you really helped us. Thank you."
"Well, it was Kyoko and Alphamon who really cracked the case here." Takumi sheepishly replied.
"And Lunick who handled Sneasel." Ami added.
"Hey now, you two were the ones who figured out the case with Sneasel." Lunick smiled.
"Don't be so impatient." Alphamon said. "I did say you two would surpass me and Kyoko someday."
Kyoko then patted the twins on the head and smiled. "But that doesn't mean we're going to make it easy for you two."
After a brief laugh among the group, the fisherman then looked at the friendly Pokemon. "Hey, Sneasel. I think we caught a good story to tell today, don't you think?"
"Sneasel!" the Pokemon smiled.
Kyoko looked at her assistants and smiled. "Well, my Watsons, I believe this is case closed. Or as a Ranger would say…"
Lunick posed. "Quest Clear!"
Just then everyone heard screams from Aqua Resort and Devimon laughing. "What's going on?!" Terriemron asked.
Angemon groaned. "Not again." He faced the New Heroes of Oblivia. "Thanks for all your help. I hope we meet again sometime, but for now, I must be off. Take care." He then flew off. "…You jerk, Devimon! How many times have I told you not to bother people, huh?!"
Ami sighed. "Maybe Angemon wasn't so wrong about him after all…"
"Sounds like Harpymon might be getting a roommate soon in that warehouse." Takumi chuckled.
"Anyway, we released Harpymon back into the Digital World after she learned her lesson." Ami said.
"What about Devimon?" Nokia asked. "Think he's still causing trouble?"
"Undoubtedly." Takumi and Ami replied.
Back in the Digital World, Socerimon was talking to a couple of young Digimon. "And that was how I meet the "Heroes of Oblivia"."
"Wow, that was an exiting story!" Sistermon Blanc clapped.
"So, you think this Heatran found a suitable Trainer?" Sistermon Ciel asked.
"I'm sure it has. I bet it will be just fine."
"Still, this other human world you went to sounds wild." Blanc said. "Jesmon told us all sorts of crazy things that happened!"
"Well…"
All three of them were startled by a golden beam flying through the sky. They looked up to see Devimon. "Ha! You missed me boy scout!"
"That was a warning shot you horned freak, now apologize to that Shoutmon for drawing a mustache on him while he was sleeping!"
"Make me pretty boy!" Devimon flew away with Angemon hot on his tail shooting more Heaven's Knuckles.
Socerimon sighed. "Can't say was much crazier than this world, that's for sure."
Sistermon Ciel laughed. "Yup! Like they say, there's no place like home!"
