Chapter thirteen:
Donnie looks up as he hears footsteps. He gets to his feet as three familiar looking others, in minion clothing, stops just outside of his cell.
"Donnie!" Raph sounds glad to see the other okay.
Donnie hurries to the bars and looks to them. "You guys made it!" He keeps his voice down just in case any actual enemies are nearby.
"Of course we did." Leo confirms to Donnie who looks like part of a weight has been lifted.
Donnie had worried that his tampering with the poison wouldn't work, and end up actually killing them for good.
Splinter checks the lock on the cell and grabs some lock picking equipment. He had hidden this in his clothes before he had left his room. He wanted to be prepared for when they had to go rescue the two. He sets to work feeling like this is taking him back to when he would go against enemies. He keeps his focus on getting the lock unlocked.
"Do you know where Mikey is?" Leo questions Donnie who shakes his head.
"No. They took us away separately." Donnies gaze then drops down. "Also. They made him watch the video they had taken of me technically killing you three. He hates me now. I did slip him a note when I was able to get close since he was tied up. I just don't know if he found it let alone read it."
"It's okay. Im sure he'll forgive you once we find him." Leo tries to assure Donnie who looks to him hoping that he is right.
Splinter moves away as the door to the cel is unlocked and Donnie leaves the cell.
"How are we going to move Donnie through the building past the cameras?" Raph questions glancing to the nearest camera, that is luckily positioned so they can't be seen though it is close to doing so.
"Maybe we can steal an outfit for him too." Leo suggests looking around for any signs of anyone else.
"You two go ahead and see if you can find any." Splinter tells them. "Me and Donnie will wait here."
Leo and Raph head off with that going further down the hall. They approach another turn to which they glance down it. They don't see anyone so they continue forth. They spot two minions exiting from a room at the end of the hall. They walk around them with a nod of greeting. They can't take out these two as there are cameras watching them. They get to the wooden door finding that it is the security room. They head inside to which one of the minions in the chair turns to them.
There is another lounging on a couch possibly on break. This one looks to be a possible green salamander of some kind.
The one that is in the chair where he can look at the cameras looks to be human.
"Hey are you well?" Raph greets the one in the chair as he approaches to stand by him. He looks to the cameras seeing that they are scattered throughout the building. "Anything interesting going on? I'm so bored." He doesn't see any spot that looks like another security room. He hopes that it is true as it means they might be able to move around a little easier soon.
"Sorry man. Nothing." The minion turns it the cameras while Leo joins the other minion on the couch. "I haven't seen you around before."
"New recruits. The boss wanted to make sure that her plan would go by well." Raph pretends to look to the screens only for his eyes to shift to Leo.
Leo meets Raphs eye briefly then they break their shared gazes.
Raph turns to the minion sitting in the chair.
"Hm. Would have thought things went well. Maybe you were recruited before one plan went through well. Oh! You should totally see the footage! You won't believe what we managed to force an enemy to do then took him prisoner." The minion turns to the one on the couch. "Hey Sophie. Can you go fetch it?" He questions to which Sophie rolls her light blue eyes.
"Joseph. I'm so close to a promotion and I don't want to waste it on getting caught bringing footage down for entertainment." Sophie tells the man who blinks hopefully at her.
"Come on Sophie. I'll owe you for this. How about that? You name your favor and I'll do it."
"Fine. You have to go to my sister's wedding. And congratulate her personally."
"Damn Sophie." Joseph's eyes widen at the deal. "She's my ex and I still can't believe she moved on!"
"You said anything." Sophie points out so Joseph sighs.
"Fine. Deal."
"Good. Now keep your eyes on the cameras." Sophie gets up heading to leave the room.
As soon as Joseph turns to the cameras Leo acts quick.
Leo covers Sophie's mouth as he hits her on the head with the bottom of his sword handle.
Sophie falls unconscious as a result.
Raph grabs onto Joseph covering his mouth doing the same as Leo to knock him out.
The two take the minions clothes finding it must be mandatory to wear something under it. They head back to Splinter and Donnie giving Donnie one of the uniforms.
"We took out those in the security room we found. As far as I could tell it's the only one watching the cameras. Unless it's on a camera not hooked up to there." Raph tells them.
Donnie slips the uniform on pretty easily. He looks to the others. "If I have to guess Mikey is probably in another cell. I guess out of a cameras reach if Raph didn't see him. We should get him before we leave this area."
"We will. We are going to meet April and Casey at the way upstairs." Leo explains as Donnie looks to him.
"I will go to them and update them then we'll wait for the three of you. You find Michelangelo and sort things out. Just try to be quick." Splinter tells the three brothers who nod in understanding. He gives his lock picking equipment to Donnie. He then heads off to the direction that April and Casey went off to.
"Let's try the turn up there." Raph nods his head in the direction towards the security room. "Maybe we'll be able to find him."
Thus they head towards there. Taking the turn to which they follow it along. They are almost at the end of the hall only to pause when they hear something.
Someone mumbling to themselves... Not just anyone it sounds like Mikey.
They can't make out what he is saying but they follow the sound of his voice. They come up to the cell where Mikey is laying curled up on the floor.
"Mikey!" Donnie sighs in relief that the other is okay.
Mikey turns to the bars about to snap at Donnie, when he pauses seeing that the other isn't alone. He then notices that all three of them are in minion suits. He swears the other two look like Raph and Leo... But there's no way it could be them... He watched them die... "Is this some kind of cruel joke?!" He demands to them. "Pretending to be my dead brothers and my former mate?!"
"Mikeys it's really us." Leo tells him taking off the head piece with the other two doing the same.
Mikeys eyes widen at seeing them.
"We came to help." Leo informs Mikey and is about to continue when the other interrupts him.
"B-But... I saw you guys die after Donnie poisoned the food. The note said you were still alive. I just wasn't sure what to think. Especially after watching the video of what happened. I started thinking Donnie was lying to me." Mikey looks between Raph and Leo for answers. His gaze hopeful that he isn't going crazy or that this is some kind of prank.
Donnie decides to try to pick the lock on Mikey's cell. He doubts that the other will want to hear the events from him.
"The poison was tampered with. Donnie made it so the effects were only temporary." Leo explains to Mikey who listens looking like he wants to cry again but he used up his tears. "He slipped all of us a note explaining you were kidnapped. That he was told to give us a liquid that turned out to be poison. He explained that he had tampered with it. Plus that someone might be watching. Asking us to go along with. Adding about a tracking device so we could find him. When the effect wore off we came here to save you guys."
Mikey lowers his head after hearing this. He seems to have been hit with a tsunami of relief. He turns along with the other two as the door is unlocked. He heads through the door then hugs Donnie.
Donnie is surprised for a moment then hugs the omega back.
"I'm so sorry! I said such horrible things to you! I should have believed you had a plan." Mikey sounds upset with himself that he had let himself believe otherwise.
"It's okay. The whole thing was rather convincing. Even though I knew that they'd be fine it still hit me pretty hard seeing it." Donnie tells Mikey. "I'm just sorry that you were forced to watch what had happened, without knowing that they were going to be okay. You must have been so miserable left here with just your thoughts." He is relieved that the other really has forgiven him. He was worried the other would still be mad about the whole thing, even after it was explained.
"It's okay. I'm just happy that it turns out that everything was okay in the end." Mikey tells Donnie.
The two turn as Leo clears his throat.
"It's good that things are better now. But we really should be meeting up with the others. We have some villains to deal with. And we have to go before we are found out." Leo then offers the minion uniform to Mikey.
Donnie and Mikey pull away from each other and Mikey takes the disguise.
Mikey slips the disguise on humming in interest that it fits him.
The others make sure that all of the parts their disguises are on.
"Okay lets go." Leo takes the lead as they head to the direction that should lead to the way upstairs.
Raph follows close to Leo.
Donnie finds Mikey stays close to him which he doesn't mind. He is happy to try to comfort his mate as much as he can without blowing their cover. He is so going to have his revenge on the group that forced him into a situation he didn't want to be. He swears he's going to have nightmares, about seeing those he cares for drop temporarily dead before him. He has a feeling Mikey will have nightmares too as he was forced to watch the recording of it. He hopes that Mikey will get lucky and not have nightmares.
The four turtles manage to find their way to where the three are waiting for them.
"Good to see you all made it." Splinter greets them then turns to the door leading to the stairs. "We should get moving before another minion discovers the two of you have escaped." He heads towards the stairs with the others following.
"Want me to carry you sensei?" Leo offers to Splinter who waves it off.
"I'll be fine. Thank you though my son." Splinter leads them up the stairs to which they find a hallway.
This hallway has only a few doors here and there. The right leads to a working space with other minions going about working on some things. The left leads to a wall with more stairs going up.
"We have to find where the leader is. We'll be too exhausted to fight the boss if we try to take out all of these enemies." Casey whispers to the others who nod in agreement.
"We really should keep our focus on getting to the higher ups. We may be able to stop them if we take them down." Splinter agrees with Casey on this. "The lower rankings will be unable to keep the group going."
"They must be upstairs." April turns to the stairs. She doesn't see anyone coming down them.
The others glance to Mikey and Donnie curious if they know anything helpful.
"The room I saw where Mikey was forced to watch the temporary death wasn't really much. No sign of it being that important. So I highly doubt any of the higher ups that were there stayed there."
"We can try those floors first then come back down if we find nothing." Leo sees Splinter nod so he takes the lead as they head for the stairs.
As they climb Splinter explains who will do what. "We need to target the boss. However that won't be so simple. She'll likely have those that will be sent to attack. Donatello and Michelangelo, you both focus on getting to the leader. I will let you two settle this as you are both rather involved. The rest of us will take on those she sends after us. I do trust you to not let your emotions make you take things too far."
"We'll make sure." Mikey tells Splinter. "And if Donnie gets out of control I'll help."
Splinter seems satisfied in trusting them with this task.
