On The Wings Of Fate
Four people, three Shinobi and one Kunoichi are leaving their village of Konoha for a very important mission, the Daughter of a Village Councilman had been kidnapped by a rogue Hunter Nin and his gang. The girl's Father, desperate for his only child safely he implores Konoha for help, now, here is where the story begins.
Naruto walked a paces behind his Sensei and two teammates, his head down as he walked, a solemn look on his face.
Ahead of him, one of Naruto's teammate's began to get unnerved by the blonde's silence, feeling as it was unnatural.
Stopping and spinning on her heels, Sakura stormed over to Naruto, her jade eyes blazing with fury.
"Hey idiot! What is your problem!?" Sakura yelled.
Naruto says nothing, he just kept walking past Sakura, still deep in thought.
'Why am I even here? What purpose do I serve other than imprisoning the fox and bearing brunt of the village's hatred?'
Then, the harsh words of a certain woman, a Civilian named Tako Fubuto kept echoing in Naruto's mind.
"You're a worthless demon! Everybody hates you! I hope you die on your mission so I and the whole village can finally celebrate you finally being gone!"
The blonde ninja usually had pretty tough skin when it came to dealing with the villagers and their insults, but for whatever reasons, the normally loud blonde couldn't shake off the negative feelings that the older woman's words had dredged up.
They had stopped to make camp for the night, Naruto, still unnaturally quiet, even during dinner.
After which he went over to his pack, pulling out a pen and small notepad before going over to a tree far away from Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi and began to write.
It is a tale of woe. Everyone frowns when I say hello.
Fear, curses, and death wishes are the replies when I try to be kind.
Inside my heart breaks and I don't know how much more I can take.
Everyday that I rise from my bed. It's a new day to dread.
Sakura looks over at Naruto and wonders about what he was writing.
'Knowing Naruto, it was probably something about ramen.' the pinkette thought.
Later, when Naruto was asleep, Sakura snuck over and took the notepad out of his hands.
"Now, let's see what the baka has been writing about." said Sakura, before flipping open the notepad.
Whatever expectations she had about Naruto were blown away when she read the sad musings of the boy, Sakura felt tears welling up in her eyes. She quickly puts the notepad back into Naruto's hands and went back over to her sleeping bag and went to sleep as best she could.
The next day, the Konoha ninja continued on their journey, Kakashi informed his team that they would be going to the village of Shinagawa in the Land of Gold.
Sakura had been watching Naruto ever since they left the campsite, she thought back to what she had read last night and she felt her heart break for Naruto all over again.
"Hey Dobe, you up for a spar?" Sasuke asks, hoping to get a rise out of Naruto.
"No, it would be a waste of your time and my chakra, besides we have a mission." Naruto deadpanned.
"Kakashi-Sensei, who are we protecting?" Sakura asked, wanting to ease the tension that was now hanging in the air.
"Akemi Shiziwa, daughter of Tatsusu Shiziwa, part of the Blade Demon (Haoni) Clan." the Copy Ninja said, still reading his smut book as he walked.
It was around 2 PM when Naruto and the others reached Shinigawa, the village was in ruins, several homes and buildings were on fire, the streets were littered with dead bodies.
Sakura was the only one of the four to react to the horrific scene before them.
"Calm down, Sakura." Naruto says sternly.
The pinkette glares at Naruto for a split second, but dropped the glare when she saw the pained expression on his face as he walked into the village, followed by Sasuke, Kakashi, and finally Sakura.
Naruto made his way over to a small group, a small girl with chestnut brown hair and light blue eyes ran up to Naruto and hugged him, tears streaming down her face the whole time.
"You're from Konoha right?" a young man asks, Naruto nods, as do the rest of the team.
"Who did this to your village?" Sakura asks, looking around at the surrounding devastation.
"Hisazo Akanishi, rogue Hunter Nin from Tawadaka in Kaminarigakure." (Land Of Thunder)
"Do you know if they are still in the-?" Sasuke asked before being by an explosive tagged kunai landing at his feet and exploding. Easily avoiding the deadly instrument, Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto went into their defensive stances while Kakashi got all the civilians out of danger.
Sasuke used his Sharingan to look into the smoke, he made out a hulking figure. As the smoke cleared, the figure came into focus.
Hisazo Akanishi stood before the trio of Konoha ninja, Sakura noticed that he has a young girl slung over his left shoulder. Blue, perfectly groomed hair gently hangs over a thin, wild face. Bloodshot aquamarine eyes,Tribal marks resembling a lightning bolt under her left eye marks her legacy but, more importantly and leaves a burning memory of her reckless luck.
Akemi Shiziwa struggled to get out of the Shinobi's iron grip.
"Guys, that is our client's daughter." Sakura says to Naruto and Sasuke.
