Chapter Two
The thought of freedom made the vigilante smile, he had all the freedom he could imagine, sure he missed all of his friends, and his mother more than the world, but he wouldn't go back and change it if he could.
He looked down at the hero, he was a civilian at the moment at the vigilante couldn't help but want to push his luck just a tad bit. He was going to jump off the roof behind him, and talk to him as if he were a normal civilian and not someone who the hero had been tracking for months now.
Jumping off the roof gracefully he landed with a thud, slipping off his hood he fell into step next to the older male. He could feel the older male stiffen at the sudden silent movement.
"Hello, Present Mic." He said smirking.
…..
Katsuki Bakugou sat on the roof of the UA dorms. His hands clenching and unclenching around a piece of fabric. After Midorya had been expelled and declared dead things fell apart for him. His constant, his rock, was gone.
He hadn't hated the boy, it was damn near impossible too. He would never admit it though, his pride got in the way far too much for him to even get close to admitting it. Sometimes, he had nightmares, or flashbacks about what he had done to the boy. All the burns, all the yelling, and insults he threw his way. Still, that damned nerd didn't give up, always radiating energy, always smiling, and so positive. Something the ash-blonde knew he could never achieve.
I can't believe- he thought, his hands clenching around the fabric as he felt a tear slip down his cheek, he wiped it away aggressively and continued with the line of thought, he would do something like that! He was supposed to be my number 2! He was supposed to be the next number, two hero, out there! WHY! He asked that question to himself constantly, but deep down he knew the reason why he had done it. Bakugou knew he was something that pushed him to do it. He knew it was his fault.
Multiple times throughout the year he had walked into Kirishima's room in the middle of the night after a nightmare. He would sit down next to the red-haired sleeping boy and hold his hand till he stopped crying, after that he would go back into his room. He was aware that half the time his friend was awake, but Kirishima knew to pretend to still be asleep, in fear that if he said anything Katsuki wouldn't come to him for comfort anymore.
The blonde had been like this for months now, but even Kirishima couldn't help him. There was no fixing him. Because no one could bring back someone from the dead.
…..
The Rabbit cursed under his breath as he stuck his hand firmly against his side. He was losing blood and quickly. He hadn't expected the thief to have a weapon on him, let alone a gun. Cursing under his breath he stumbled across the roof. He had gotten shot before, but none of them had been a gunshot to the gut. Taking a deep breath in he took off, running as fast as he could.
He could hear the shouts from behind him, getting closer and closer as he loosed momentum, his vision getting blurry. He hopped onto the next lower roof he saw and stumbled, the air getting knocked out of him aggressively. The Rabbit stood, his lungs screaming for him to stop but he knew he couldn't. Stumbling over to the side and hiding behind a chimney he ripped his hoodie and tied it tightly around his abdomen, letting out a breathy laugh he continued on. His make-shift bandage wouldn't last long but it would last long enough. He just needed to get to Hayato's cafe. That place was his make-shift hospital. Could probably heal him better than a normal one too. He burst out laughing again and winced as he stumbled onto a roof, blood seeping out from his wound onto the roof. He cursed again and dragged his feet along the roof, just one...more...jump.
He jumped and landed with a soft thud. His mouth letting out a noise between whimper and cry. He dragged himself a little further before banging on the skylight into the building below. A few minutes later he sees a light turn on and he smiles, closing his eyes for a second, he doesn't realize it, but he's soon fast asleep.
When he woke up he was lying down in a cot, soft music humming through the walls. He sat up wincing slightly and looked down at his side, lifting up his shirt he inspected his injury to just see a light bandage over it. He smiled softly and threw the covers back, sitting up he rubbed his eyes before standing up and walking to the front.
When he got to the front he saw a cup labeled 'Kio' and called the name out handing the smoothie to the waiting customer. Upon hearing his voice Hayato's head snapped back and he ran over to the boy glancing over him with his hands on the boy's shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked worriedly at the boy nodded an embarrassed smile on his face. Hayato smacked him across the head causing the boy to glare up at the taller male muttering an ow before grabbing and handing another customer their drink. "Good. Now put on that apron and go make some macaroons! You make them better than I do and I've been short of all of them for hours!" He yelled chucking an apron at the boy causing him to laugh while catching it and swing it over his head walking into the kitchen.
About an hour and a half later the young boy came out of the kitchen with a tray of fresh macaroons. Hayato had told the customers that wanted them previously that they were almost done, the smell of fresh-baked pastries reaching everyone's noses. Hayato's face lit up with happiness at the sight of all of the macaroons and everyone gathered around to get their share, making the boy soon go back into the kitchen to prepare more.
…..
Eraserhead sighed as he finished his petrol with a sigh, his eyes aching, he still had to stop by the store before school later. He had been excused from teaching morning classes when Midnight needed to petrol but somehow got her arm broken. He let out yet another long sigh as he ran his hand through his hair tying it back into a low ponytail.
Hopping off the low roof he walked down the street appearing at the cafe he was at a couple of nights ago. People were flowing in and out of it, laugher and a sweet scent filling the air. He then realized that this cafe must be a neighborhood favorite. Walking into the cafe he saw the brunette working the counter again, he must own the cafe. Waiting in line he looked around, the tawny (pale-ish brown) and white-colored walls having pictures posted every now again. Tables and booths spread around, most of them completely full of smiling faces. The man had made an environment here, someone where everyone was welcome.
As he moved through the line he listened to the people in front of him conversations' currently the person at the counter was in front of him talking with the man. "When are his delicious macaroons going to be done? My wife and I can't wait for them to be done, we only get them once a week you know." The old woman said smiling. Hayato replied with a smile still on his face.
"Of course Granny Cora, they should be done soon," He said pausing and turning back towards what Eraserhead assumed was the kitchen, "ARE THE MACAROONS ALMOST DONE!?" He yelled, a yes was heard in the kitchen before some crashes and bangs, Hayato just pressed his fingers to his temple breathing deeply before looking back up at the woman smiling. "You heard the guy, I'm assuming they'll be done in about ten minutes. Say Hi to Ganny Madeline for me please." The woman smiled and nodded before going to sit down next to a woman. His customers trusted them this much?
Huh.
Eraserhead stepped forward as he realized that it was now his turn. Smiling at Hayato, he ordered a large black coffee and the delicious macaroons the woman before him had been talking about.
Hayato nodded before glancing at Eraserhead, his eyes lighting up after a few beats of silence. "You're the man from the other night aren't you!?" He questioned excitedly and Eraser nodded hesitantly. "Oh my gosh, I knew it! It's a discount, every new consumer gets a discount, I just forgot about it last time, sorry about that!" He said, rubbing the back of his head, smiling, clearing embarrassed.
He nodded and smiled at the younger man. "That would be nice, thank you." He said and Hayato yelled for the person in the back to hurry up with those macarons earning a 'They'll be done when they're done stop bothering me about it!' Eraser laughed slightly before stepping out of the way so the next customer could order.
A new batch of steam was poured out of the kitchen as the boy from the other night came through the door carrying a large tray of sweets. Hums of pleasure and yums filled the space as they were passed out to the people who ordered them before only a few were left which Eraserhead walked to the front to retrieve them. Hayato's face flushed as he realized there weren't enough for the older man's order as he apologized profusely.
Eraser just laughed and waved it off. He was willing to wait, he was starting to like it here. There was a certain peace and happiness here he had been missing for a year, he could only try to hope that those feelings lingered after he left.
