Hyperion Hotel

Morning

"The Avengers? What are you talking about Angel?" Faith asked in confusion.

"We need to work with them in order to bring everyone back," Angel explained.

"Okay, but what led you to this conclusion?" Fred asked bewildered.

"As cool as it would be to meet them, Fred and Faith are right, you're not making any sense," Dawn pointed out and Angel let out a heavy sigh.

"There's a reason I've never given up hope, never stopped believing that we could bring everyone back," Angel revealed. "It started the day of The Snap, with a kiss…"

Three months ago

Angel and Cordelia kissed as a blue glow passed from her lips into Angel's before fading.

"Though it didn't hit 'til the next night."

In bed, Angel cried out, his eyes snapping open as he was awakened by a vision.

"Cordelia gave you her visions?" Connor asked but Angel shook his head.

"One shot deal. She put me on the path, let me see enough to never give up hope," Angel explained.

"What did you see?" Willow inquired.

"Us, working with the Avengers. We were about to take part in a battle. Wesley and Gunn were there," Angel revealed to their surprise. "So was Buffy and an army of Slayers. It didn't take me long to put two and two together."

"That in order to undo this, we'd have to work with the Avengers," Spike noted and Angel nodded.

"But there were too many unanswered questions and I knew I couldn't go to them empty handed. So I had to wait, to keep searching until I had something I could use to gain their trust," Angel explained.

"Which is why we've been chasing every lead we can," Lorne realized and Angel nodded.

"Now we have something. Now, we can go the Avengers and figure out a plan," Angel said victoriously.

"Um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we can't go anywhere," Fred argued. "Hamilton is still watching us like a hawk. He'll never let us head to New York long enough to meet with the Avengers."

"Which is why we'll give him a distraction," Angel said before looking over at Spike. "You ready for the biggest performance of your life?"

"I was born ready," Spike said with a smirk.

Wolfram and Hart

Later in the morning

Angel entered his office when the door suddenly closed. Angel whirled around as Spike rushed forward, striking Angel in the face. Angel stumbled back before grabbing Spike by his arm. Spinning around, Angel sent Spike stumbling into a wall.

"What the Hell are you doing Spike?" Angel demanded.

"You don't deserve this power. You never even wanted it in the first place," Spike sneered.

Spike then pulled a stake out from under his sleeve and attempted to stake Angel. However, Angel grabbed the end of it before spinning around, sending Spike to the ground with a throw.

"And you do? Thought you'd changed. I should have known you were only ever out for yourself," Angel said in a growl as he tossed the stake behind him.

With a roar, Spike jumped to his feet and tackled Angel. The two went through the glass wall as all the employees stopped, turning to see what was happening. Angel ended up on his back, Spike on top of him as Spike slugged him, hard.

"All this power you have and you waste it," Spike snarled as he slugged Angel again. "Too busy thinking about right and wrong, about playing hero. You could've made yourself a king!"

Angel sent a kick towards Spike's abdomen, forcing the younger vampire off. Angel then grabbed Spike by his duster and threw him into the wall.

"That's what you never understood Spike. It was never about power, it was about how you use it," Angel snarled, stalking over to Spike and slugging him. "We have a responsibility to do what's right, to atone for our sins. But you've never thought of anyone but yourself."

Angel moved to punch Spike again but Spike caught his fist, to Angel's surprise. Spike then slugged him before delivering a spinning kick to Angel's abdomen, sending him stumbling back.

"Let's finish this," Spike sneered, his face shifting to his vampire face.

"Gladly," Angel snarled, his face changing as well.

The two rushed each other, delivering a punch to the other's face. Angel grabbed Spike by his arm and whirled around, throwing Spike into the reception desk. Spike used his back to cushion his fall before lunging forward. Angel side stepped Spike before grabbing by his duster, throwing him to the floor. As all his employees watched, Angel kicked Spike with enough force to sending him crashing into the wall.

"Security!" Angel barked and they were by his side within seconds. "Escort Spike off the premises. He's no longer welcome here."

"I'll handle it," Hamilton said as he suddenly appeared.

"You do that," Angel said disinterested as he glared at Spike. "I see you anywhere near here again; you'll be dust before you can even whine about it."

Spike glared at Angel before Hamilton lifted him to his feet by his jacket, roughly escorting him towards the elevator.

"I was doubtful before…but you have me convinced," Hamilton told Spike lowly. "I will take your request to the Senior Partners. After that…it's in their hands."

New York

Same time

After the meeting was over, Happy was walking towards his car when a voice called out to him.

"Happy," he looked over his shoulder to see Bruce approaching him. "You probably don't remember me."

"You're Bruce Banner," Happy cut him off. "I remember. It's good to see you."

"You to," Bruce said and a beat passed between them. "Listen, I'm sorry about Tony. I know I shouldn't blame myself but…"

"There was nothing you could have done. Thanos…he was just too powerful, too smart. You all did the best you could," Happy paused. "I guess I'll see you at the next meeting. See you around Bruce."

"See you around Happy," Bruce echoed, watching silently as Happy walked the rest of the way to his car.

At the hospital, Sam and Bucky were walking towards Wanda's room when Sam noticed people were staring at him as he passed. And he'd been stared at enough to know something was up.

"Is there something on my face?" Sam asked Bucky.

"No, why?" Bucky asked as he looked at Sam oddly.

"They keep staring at me," Sam said, only becoming more confused as Bucky laughed.

"You told off Ross man, and people have seen your speech. You're officially the face of 'coming together'," Bucky told him.

Sam mulled this over as they reached Wanda's room. Opening the door, they found Wanda sitting up, a pained grimace on her face.

"I thought the doctor said you shouldn't sit up," Sam warned her as he and Bucky entered the room.

"I won't sit up after get home," Wanda said as she looked up at them. "Please tell me we're going back to the Compound."

"We just checked you out; we've got a car outside. It's a five minute drive to a hanger where we have the Quinjet. Let's just get you to the car and then we're home free," Bucky promised and she let out a breath.

"Good. Then what are we waiting for?" Wanda asked.

Jet

Afternoon

The group sat in their seats in the plane, the flight having taken off fifteen minutes earlier. The cover story Angel had come up with was that they had a meeting with someone in New York; it was all very hush hush.

Currently, Willow was sitting towards the back of the plane, deep in thought when someone sat down across from her. Looking up, Willow was surprised to see it was Angel.

"How are you doing? I know it must have been hard…seeing her," Angel said awkwardly.

"It was, it was like…like having my heart ripped out all over again," Willow said with a heavy sigh. "I'm…managing."

"I'm sorry. I know how you feel," Angel said as he thought of the day of the snap, learning that Cordelia was gone.

"Yeah, I guess you do. You lost Cordelia the same day of the Snap, didn't you?" Willow realized and Angel stared at her in surprise.

"You knew?" he asked surprised and she managed a smile.

"On the phone, I'd hear the way she talked about you; it was the same way I talked about Tara. I'm pretty sure I knew before she did," Willow said with a slight laugh before frowning. "And I see the way you look whenever someone mentions her. It's like an open wound, one that never heals. I get the same look on my face whenever someone mentions Tara. Xander, Buffy and Dawnie learned not to mention her in my company a few months after I came back. She was your Tara, wasn't she?"

"Yeah, she was," Angel said after a moment. "I feel like half a man without her."

"I know what you mean," Willow said as she looked out the window. "She was the best part of me…and she's gone. No matter what we do…she's still gone. Both of them are. I've been trying to live with that…and I'm still not sure how to go on."

"Me either. I feel like I died with her," Angel admitted.

"If you loved her as much as I loved Tara…you did," Willow said softly, not looking away from the window.

Neither of them said another word for the rest of the flight, simply staring out the window, watching the clouds go by.

Avengers Compound

Late afternoon

"Ugg," Wanda groaned as Sam and Bucky helped her into bed. "Remind me never to get shot again."

"Pretty hard thing to do in our line of business," Bucky pointed out a grin.

Sam laughed as Wanda good naturedly threw a pillow at Bucky.

"Don't hate me just because I'm right," Bucky joked as he walked out.

"Just give yourself a few days to heal, you'll be back to normal before you know it," Sam assured her. "I'll be right down the hall if you need me."

"I'm fine, just go. I have a fully stocked TV at my disposal, go Sam," Wanda said as she used her powers to draw the remote to her.

Sam laughed before turning and walking out of her room, happy Wanda seemed back to normal.

Later, Sam leaned back in his chair in his office after ending his weekly chat with the remaining Avengers, sighing tiredly as Bucky entered the room.

"I take it thing are the same as usual?" Bucky asked and Sam nodded.

"Things are quiet in Wakanda. Nebula, Groot and Carol are taking care of things out in space. Hope is keeping an eye on Scott from a distance but he's not really talking to anyone but his ex-wife and her husband," Sam said as he looked ahead, staring at nothing in particular. "We stopped Walker; I should feel…I don't know, happy. But it didn't change anything, Steve and the others are still gone. The world is still broken by Thanos. What was even the point?"

"The point is to keep fighting," Bucky said and Sam looked over at him. "Someone smarter than me said that all the pain and sacrifice of those that came before us isn't worth anything if we don't."

"So you admit I'm smarter than you, huh?" Sam said with a grin and Bucky laughed.

"Don't get ahead of yourself Sam," Bucky said.

Suddenly, there was a beep and a holographic button appeared in front of Sam. He swiped it and a holographic button appeared in front of them.

"Hello, is anyone home?" Sam and Bucky stared as a teenage girl stood in front of a red haired young woman, a tanned skin girl around the same age, a man in a trench coat, a brown haired woman, a dark haired young man and, to their disbelief, a being with green skin, red eyes and horns wearing a suit appeared on the screen. "I know you don't know us, but we need to talk to you. It's about Thanos."

"You're seeing this to right?" Bucky asked Sam, who merely stared at the screen.

"Alright, let me get this straight," Sam said after he had let them all in. "Angel, Willow, Faith, Dawn, Connor, Fred and Lorne."

"Right so far," Fred said.

"Willow is a witch, Angel is a vampire, but one that has a soul, Faith is a vampire Slayer. Dawn is human but used to be a mystical energy known as the key. Connor is Angel's son but he's human, minus some enhanced abilities. And Lorne is…empathic demon was it?" Bucky asked as he turned to Lorne.

"Empath," Lorne corrected.

Sam and Bucky exchanged bewildered glances before shrugging.

"Ok."

"Seriously? Just like that?" Angel asked in surprise.

"Our teammate who is sleeping down the hall can read minds and bring down this whole building by thinking. Thor was an alien people thought was a god at one point. And three months ago, an alien warlord used magic stones to wipe out half of all life. My threshold for what I won't believe is much lower than it used to be," Sam said dryly.

"You said you had Intel on Thanos? Hate to break to you, but Thanos is dead," Bucky pointed out.

"It's not actually Intel on Thanos, its actually about the stones," Fred revealed.

"Thanos didn't destroy them," Faith added, to their shock.

"Of course he was lying about that," Bucky muttered, feeling foolish they'd ever believed him.

"The stones are spread out across different dimensions, each one controlled by beings called the Senior Partners," Angel explained. "They're basically a group of three demons who have been manipulating events to serve their own agenda."

"The trouble is we don't know how to get to these dimensions," Willow added.

"Okay, so why come to us?" Sam asked.

"Because you can put us in contact with the people who can," Willow said. "I need to talk to Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne."

This was more of a filler chapter but I do hope you guys enjoyed it.

Spike has officially taken on the role of double agent to keep Hamilton occupied while the others head to the Avengers in order to get help. This will play out more over the next few chapters.

And now the Buffyverse characters have officially met Sam and Bucky. And they'll meet more MCU characters soon enough.
