Chapter 2: The Pompeii Exhibit
The next day, I met up with Sarah, James, and Henri, as well as some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, and Max Greenwald at the Carnegie Science Center in the North Side to see the Pompeii Exhibit. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. Prior to the exhibit, we explored the gift shop. "Remember the phrase 'you are never too old to learn something'?" Alex asked all of us. "Yes, we have heard that phrase," I replied. "I graduated from high school a long time ago, and I remember the things that I learn about every day," Sarah told us. "Heck, I still remember the day that I was afraid to take gym class back in middle school." "And, I still remember trying to pass my AP science exam because science was not one of my strongest subjects back then," Alex added. We then explored the Pompeii Exhibit and learned some interesting things about the earthquake in Pompeii and the Romans' daily lifestyle. "That was actually a pretty interesting exhibit, Max," Henri stated. "Although it is making me hungry." "Well, don't worry, Henri," Max stated. "Because we will be eating dinner very shortly." "Did you have a good Thanksgiving in Gettysburg, James?" Justin asked. "Of course, Justin," James replied. "Our dad was happy to see us!" "My parents were happy to see me on the holiday, as well," Justin agreed. "So, in order to save money, we are going to my mom and stepdad's house in Swissvale to eat Thanksgiving leftovers," Alex told us. "That sounds yummy!" Sarah stated. "So anyway, what are you going to make me for a birthday present, Alex?" Sarah asked. "That's a good question, Sarah," Alex replied. "I am making you some new CDs with music from each decade." "Yes, we have had tons of fun listening to music from 98 Degrees and Santana this past year," I told my friends. "We need this kind of fun, upbeat music with a spicy Latin flavor to fire us up and even keep us warm on the coldest days like today." While at Alex's parents' house, we talked about our favorite Thanksgiving dishes, including skinless turkey breast with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts with ham, and pumpkin pie. Then, we drove back to our condominium in Squirrel Hill. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
