Wolfie: I do not own anything related to Marvel. Sorry if Tony seems out of character in the first chapter, I just wanted it to seem like he was sort of feeling one of those instantaneous crushes. Kinda how he seemed to immediately want to have Natalie/Natasha be his assistant in Iron Man 2. Now please read, review, and I hope you like the book so far.

Chapter 2: The Next Day

"Miss. Brooks, it's time to wake up." A british voice suddenly startled Charlie out of her blissful slumber at 10:30 am.

"Huh, wha? Who said that? Show yourself!" Charlie said sleepily as she grabbed the nearest thing, her left high heel, to use as a weapon whilst sitting up in bed looking around for the unknown voice's source.

"I did, ma'am. I am J.A.R.V.I.S, Mr. Stark's AI." J.A.R.V.I.S explained as Charlie slowly put down her shoe at the explanation, looking around sleepily as she noticed his voice was coming from nowhere.

"Oh, so, why'd you wake me exactly?" Charlie asked with a yawn, she may be an agent but she is not a morning person as she became aware of her hangover, remembering quite a bit of last night. "And, what time is it? Cause damn it is bright..." She said as she shielded her eyes from the sun coming in through the window, watching in amazement as the curtains seemed to shut themselves.

"Mr. Stark wished for you to be informed that he has made breakfast. It is currently 10:34 am." J.A.R.V.I.S said, providing an answer for both of Charlie's questions as the slightly more awake agent climbed out of bed.

"Oh. Wait, he made breakfast?" Charlie asked as she ran her fingers through her hair to tame whatever bed head she may currently have.

"Yes. He said, and I quote: "Hangover's give me the munchies, maybe they give her the munchies too" before he started cooking." J.A.R.V.I.S said as Charlie had to laugh before cringing at the fact that that aggravated her hangover, the word munchies sounding odd coming from a british AI.

"I see, please tell me he's got aspirin there too..." Charlie said with a small groan as she rubbed her temples, God she absolutely hated having hangovers.

"I believe he does have aspirin as well, Miss. Brooks." J.A.R.V.I.S said as Charlie sighed in relief as she left the room, her eyes glancing up and down the hallway in search of the right direction to go.

"Good, now help me find the kitchen. Please." Charlie said because amongst all the things that had happened upon their arrival to the house a tour was not one of them.

"Of course, ma'am." J.A.R.V.I.S said, proceeding to direct her to where the kitchen is as she got lost once or twice.

By the time Charlie made it to the kitchen she was witnessing Tony finish plating two plates of eggs, bacon, and toast. Looking just as handsome in casual clothes as he had been in his suit from last night as he turned and placed the plates on the kitchen island behind him. One plate next to a glass full of a dark green liquid and the other next to a glass of water and two white pills, she assumed that was for her. Tony, upon hearing the soft foot falls of bear feet walking across his floor, looked up and couldn't help but smile upon seeing Charlie. Damn, he hasn't even seen her undressed yet and already he's thinking how hot yet absolutely adorable she looks in his clothes. His AC/DC shirt had slipped off her right shoulder, giving him another peak at her soft looking pale skin. The sweat pants just barely being held up on her tiny waist by the tightly tied drawstring, seeing as the elastic was no help in keeping up the pants. Her beach waved dusty blonde shoulder length hair obviously having gotten a brush through via her fingers not too long ago to rid it of bed head. Tony noticed all of these little details and more as Charlie approached him.

"Morning Sleeping Beauty, hope J didn't startle you too much." Tony said as he went and retrieved two forks from the silverware drawer as Charlie chuckled at the Sleeping Beauty comment.

"He kinda did, but I got over it." Charlie said, sitting at one of the bar stools at the island and was glad when the AI didn't chime in about her nearly using her shoe as a weapon.

"J, I told you to wake her gently." Tony said, scolding the AI as if he was a child that had forgotten to do their chores.

"My apologies, sir." J.A.R.V.I.S said but the AI was obviously indifferent to the scolding tone that his creator had used.

"Apology accepted." Tony stated before turning his attention back to Charlie just as she downed the aspirin and half her glass of water. "Your fork, madam." He said as he jokingly bowed and held out the fork to her as she playfully rolled her eyes.

"Why thank you good sir." Charlie said as she accepted the fork, jokingly bowing as well since she cant curtsy while sitting down before they both started laughing. "On a serious note though, it was sweet of you to cook breakfast for me too, Tony." She said as his normal routine with girls, which is make them leave in the morning, made part of her think she'd have to leave and get her own breakfast.

"It's no big deal, really." Tony said, trying to play off the fact that he had spent an hour and a half making breakfast as it not being a big deal.

"Still, thank you for this." Charlie said as her life as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent has made her appreciate the little things, like homemade meals.

"Your welcome." Tony said, if she wanted to thank him then he wouldn't argue about it, he had just wanted to do something uncharacteristically nice of him to do for her.

A comfortable silence soon fell over the two of them as they began to eat their breakfast, Charlie letting out a happy "mm" as she took her first bite of her eggs. After years of only having time to eat granola bars and the occasional ramen cup it was nice to just sit down and not be in a rush to eat. She could actually savor the food and not be paranoid that someone is gonna throw a molotov cocktail through her window or start shooting at her. And Tony couldn't help but grin to himself upon seeing the fact that she liked the food, even if it was something as simple as breakfast. Still though, her reaction to it and her gratitude over receiving breakfast was a welcome change from how his mornings usually go. Usually he's up and already in his lab or at the office, sending Pepper to vacate his home of whatever woman he had brought home that night/morning. Having had breakfast on the go and alone, knowing he'd probably never see whatever woman he had sent away ever again. So this was nice, getting to enjoy a nice breakfast whilst in the company of a beautiful woman. It was just so, calm and peaceful to say the least.

"Tony! Where did you run off to last night? And why did you call asking me to pick up a change of clothes for a 5'7" petite blonde woman?" Pepper asked, her voice echoing through the house as she approached the kitchen, a bag containing fresh clothes clenched tightly between her fingers. "Oh, I um, didn't know you had company..." She trailed off as she noticed the woman sitting opposite Tony at the kitchen island, wearing his clothes.

"Right, uh. Pepper, Charlie. Charlie, Pepper." Tony said, not really knowing any other way to introduce the two women to one another.

"Hello." Pepper greeted, feeling awkward at the fact that Tony kept around one of his one night stands instead of having her send them away.

"Hi." Charlie said, her training as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent allowing her to see that Pepper felt awkward.

"Charlie, how about you finish eating while I talk to Pepper?" Tony suggested as he had a feeling that Pepper was trying very hard not to snap at him infront of Charlie.

"Yeah, sure." Charlie said as she had a feeling that neither of them wanted to argue infront of her. "It was nice meeting you Pepper." She said as she gave the other woman a smile as Pepper returned it slightly.

"It was nice to meet you too, Charlie. I hope the clothes fit by the way, Tony was very vague with what size you were." Pepper said as she handed over the bag of clothes to Charlie before practically dragging Tony by the collar of his shirt to a more private area.

Now left alone with her thoughts Charlie finished off her plate of food before stealing Tony's untouched bacon. Munching on the bacon as she took the change of clothes to her room, also needing a bit of help from J.A.R.V.I.S to find her way back. Charlie was certain that Tony was getting scolded for leaving the charity event the other night, it had been obvious those were Pepper's intentions. Though she also knew that come the time that she leaves and goes back to where she's staying she's in for one hell of a scolding too. After all she had broken one of the major rules of being an agent, which is never use ones real identity on a mission like this one. This was because so many agents had family or loved ones linked to their names that needed protecting from their enemies. Other times was because it kept their targets and enemies from knowing who they are and end up tracking things back to them. However Charlie honestly didn't have either one of those problems because she has no living family and doesn't really have enemies. So fake identities were just a time consuming annoyance that were pointless because she didn't have the patience for using them.

Others have argued that the fake identities were not pointless and that they were useful sometimes but she never really listened to them. She just let them argue for argument sake and then just moved on with her life without taking what they said to heart. After thanking J.A.R.V.I.S for helping her find her room she went into the bathroom that was attached to the spare room to get changed. The skinny jeans were a bit lose and so was the long sleeve shirt but not to the point that she needed to worry about anything falling down. And she could suffer though wearing her high heels as her shoes for this outfit because she didn't get a change of shoe's. Which wasn't something to complain about because she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Charlie then slipped her shoes on and placed her dress inside the bag the clothes came in. The heels giving her a few extra inches of height as she left her room, bag in hand as she went in search of Tony. Stopping in the hallway that led to the living room as she caught the tail end of Pepper's scolding/rant.

"I don't ask for much Tony, I honestly don't. All you had to do was stay till the end of the charity event." Pepper said, the frustration evident in her voice as Charlie just hid in the hallway listening. "It would have given Stark Industries some good press for once after you had the company stop making weapons if you had been there. Yet I find out that you ran off with some-some girl before the event even fully starts!" She shrieked, her voice getting louder the more frustrated that she gets.

"Pepper, Pepper relax. Yelling isn't going to solve anything." Tony said calmly, he knew Pepper would be mad but he didn't know that she would be this mad.

"No I will not relax, Tony!" Pepper snapped, just because Tony is her boss doesn't mean she's going to let him tell her when to calm down. "I get that going out with every hot girl you meet is the thing that you do, Tony, but you need to take responsibility." She said as she took a deep breath and finally stopped shrieking, much to Charlie's happiness.

"I am taking responsibility, Pepper." Tony argued, it was annoying that Pepper didn't think he was taking responsibility for things. "I made an appearance, I mingled, I talked to people. What more do you want from me, woman?" He asked as there was now a bit of frustration evident in his voice.

"I want you to take an active interest in the company as its CEO, that's what." Pepper said before there was the sound of angry high heel footsteps stomping away and a door shutting, leaving Tony alone as he sighed.

"Tony..." Charlie said as she left the hallway and made her presence known as Tony looked at her. "I didn't mean to get you scolded by Pepper, would it help if I say I'm sorry?" She asked as she walked over to him, her heels clicking against the ground as she walked.

"It's not your fault, she would've gotten mad at me regardless." Tony stated as he then ran his fingers through his hair, sighing once again. "Oh boo, does this mean you have to leave?" He asked with a pout as he noticed her shoe's and the bag containing her dress from the event.

"Yes, unfortunately I do. But, I do have to call a cab first. So..." Charlie trailed off for a moment as her eyes searched around the room for a pen and something to write on. "I do have some time to at least give you my number. You know, so you don't have to stalk me on the internet to try and get in contact with me." She said jokingly as she then scribbled her number down on a piece of paper when she found that and a pen, handing it to Tony.

"Right, 'cause I totally would never do that." Tony said sarcastically, even though that does kinda sound like something he would do...

"Yeah." Charlie agreed with a smile, knowing that that does sound like something he would do. "Can I use your phone though? I don't have mine with me." She said since at the party all she had with her was her dress and her shoes.

"Yeah, sure." Tony said as he handed over his phone, which just looked like a rectangular piece of glass with rounded edges.

"Thanks." Charlie said as she walked away with the phone, managing to make it work as she called for a cab.

Tony then mentally scolded himself as he watched Charlie walk away, he had missed the opportunity to offer to drive her home! This made him facepalm, his palm colliding with his forehead with an audible smack as he groaned at his stupidity. Sure he could go stop her from calling a cab but then he'd look like one of those possessive asshole's who don't let their girls do anything. No way he was going to make her think he's that kind of guy, he'll just have to suck it up, let her take a cab, and give her money to pay for it. 'Cause he assumed that since she hadn't brought her phone with her to the charity event then that meant she didn't bring a purse or money either. Paying for Charlie's cab ride would be a nice gesture, it shows that he cares and doesn't want her to stress about scrambling to pay the cab when she gets home. That way she gets home safely, the cab gets paid, and she won't have to pay a butt load of money for running inside to get money while the meter is running. Satisfied with that plan Tony went and got his wallet, coming back just when Charlie had come back with the hung up phone in her hand.

"The cab is on its way." Charlie said whilst holding out the phone to Tony once he was close enough.

"Alright, and here is enough money to cover the ride." Tony said as he took the phone from her hand, replacing it with five 20 dollar bills.

"Tony, this is 100 dollars, I don't think the cab ride will cost that much." Charlie stated before trying to give some of the money back.

"Maybe it won't, but if you hadn't noticed I live a good ways away from the city. Factoring that in alongside the possibility of traffic the end total might be more than you think." Tony explained so Charlie knew his reasoning behind why he gave her 100 dollars for one cab ride. "Just, take the money, Charlie. And don't worry about paying me back." He added since he didn't really care if she kept whatever money was leftover after paying the cab.

"You saying that kinda makes me feel like I have to pay you back, Tony." Charlie said, the corners of her lips turning up into a small smile as she pocketed the money.

"Trust me, you don't. Just, make it home safely, ok?" Tony asked since he wouldn't forgive himself if she hadn't gotten home safely because he let her take a cab home.

"I'll make it home just fine, Tony." Charlie reassured whilst adjusting her hold on the bag that held her dress.

Silence befell them once again as Tony slowly nodded in response to her reassurance. Maybe this was why he always had Pepper deal with making sure that the women got home safely. He just couldn't take the uncertainty or the guilt that would come with the possibility that the girl hadn't gotten home safely. It had just been easier to have someone else deal with it and then subsequently he would end up forgetting ever meeting them. Not long after there was the sound of a car pulling up and then the honk of a horn, signalling that the cab was there. With a small smile sent his way Charlie said a small bye before she turned and walked to the front entrance. Disappearing around a corner and out of Tony's sight, the sound of the front door opening and closing as she left the house. Leaving the brunette billionaire alone in his living room as he distantly heard her climb into the cab before it drove away. With nothing left to do Tony cleaned up the kitchen before going down into his lab, picking up on his search for a Palladium replacement where he'd left off. An hour after the cab had left Tony Stark's mansion it pulled up infront of a cheap run down looking apartment building in Malibu, California.

It's singular passenger, Charlie, stepping out of the backseat after paying, walking towards a set of stairs afterwards. Not even bothering to turn back when the cab driver yelled at her saying she forgot her change. Charlie just kept walking as she headed up the stairs to the second level of the apartment building, stopping infront of a door marked 503. Using the hidden spare key to let herself in, her training as an agent kicking in immediately as she had a feeling she wasn't alone as she slipped inside silently. Quietly pushing the door shut she reached under the table near the door, pulling free a Glock 26 that was taped to the underside. Abandoning the bag that contained her dress near the door in the proses. Holding the the Glock 26 with the barrel pointed towards the floor, clicking off the safety as she silently moved on her feet despite wearing heels. Silvery blue eyes searching through the naturally lit apartment, the gun now aimed and ready to be shot if necessary. Her body quickly turning the corner into the living room and out of the hallway as she aimed the gun at the intruder, Natasha Romanoff. The red haired assassin returning the favor as she aimed her own gun, a Smith & Wesson M&P, at the blonde female opposite her.

"Natasha." Charlie greeted but she did not lower her Glock 26 just yet.

"Charlie." Natasha greeted as she also did not lower her gun yet, like it was an unspoken challenge to see who will lower there's first. "I'm impressed, going for the gun as soon as you entered the apartment. Smart choice." She complimented with a proud smirk on her face as she stared at the other girl past her gun.

"Well, I learnt from one of the best." Charlie said with a smirk of her own, that normal sweet girl facade she pulled with Tony just melting away. "Are you losing your touch Nat or were you just going easy on me? 'Cause I have to say, I found you alot easier than last time." She said teasingly, pulling an breathy chuckle from the Black Widow.

"Or maybe I let you find me easily this time around." Natasha said before finally she was the first of the two of them to lower her gun and click on the safety. "You did good though, noticing how something felt off, I taught you well." She said as she slipped her gun into the holster that was strapped to her thigh.

"If you had time to watch me then you had time to announce yourself if you wanted to." Charlie stated as she lowered her own gun, clicking on the safety as she slipped it into the back of her jeans for now.

"You're right, but making one's self known to our target isn't what we do. Now is it?" Natasha said but she obviously wasn't just talking about this situation.

"So you know?" Charlie asked with a scoff, of course the other female probably knew about her interaction with Tony.

"We're spy's, Charlie. It's our job to know things like this." Natasha stated as she crossed her arms, she had been keeping tabs on Charlie since her mission started.

"So? A little trust would be nice, Nat. I can take care of myself." Charlie said as she kicked off her gold high heels, watching them tumble across the floor before stopping when they hit the couch. "I don't need you spying on me while I'm on a mission." She added as she ran her fingers through her hair out of frustration.

"Well your lucky I did spy on you, Charlie. You broke the first rule of being a spy, you told the target your real name. We never tell the targets our real name." Natasha scolded as she watched Charlie with a calculating eye, wondering why she had slipped up in the first place.

"I get it Nat! That's a big no no. It was just a, a momentary bout of forgetfulness." Charlie stated with a huff, she had been hoping to get away with having a shower and a nap before having to deal with this.

"It's more than that though, Charlie. Your mission specifically says to watch Stark from afar, and you blatantly disregarded that in favor of making contact with him." Natasha said because once she goes into full on lecture mode it was really hard to stop her. "You threw your mission parameters out the window in favor of, of going clubbing with your target. You even stayed at his house, in unfamiliar territory with no weapons at all." She said, hissing out the words clubbing and house as by now she was sort of angrily pacing around the living room.

"This isn't the first time I've done this, Nat. You know this just as well as S.H.I.E.L.D does." Charlie said as she watched the red haired assassin pace around on the cheap throw rug that covers the wood floor of the living room. "I've made contact with my targets before, and the mission still gets completed despite that happening." She said as by now she was crossing her arms as well, her comment making Natasha stop pacing.

"I know that, Charlie, but that still doesn't excuse the fact that you used your real name." Natasha stated, obviously about to go back to the fact that a spy using their real name was a bad thing.

"Nat you're making this a big deal when it isn't. Ok, the plan is still in motion, my back story that S.H.I.E.L.D provided is still intact. I just have to improvising now, it's what I do best." Charlie said with a smirk and a wink causing Natasha to sigh and try not to face palm.

"Improvising is one thing, Charlie. Blowing your cover as an agent is a completely different story. What if Stark get's curious and starts digging into who you are an what your backstory is?" Natasha asked as that was why S.H.I.E.L.D had them take up fake names and back stories on mission's, to prevent things like that.

"Nat, relax. All it will take is a bit of tweaking and the backstory made for Charlotte O'Hare will belong to Charlie Brooks." Charlie reassured as she walked over to her laptop, opening it as she plopped down onto her couch which was also very cheap and uncomfortable. "My original past was taken off the books by S.H.I.E.L.D, remember? I'm essentially a ghost." She reminded as she logged in, her fingers soon speedily typing away at the keyboard as she hacked into everything involving her alias Charlotte O'Hare.

"Fury won't be happy about this." Natasha commented as she came to watch over Charlie's shoulder, hacking was a skill that all agents knew the basics of, but Charlie was a master at it.

"That man is never happy about anything." Charlie stated, her eyes never leaving the screen as she continued to work. "As long as I do my job and report into S.H.I.E.L.D regularly then I see no reason for him to consider firing me." She uttered as one by one every document or mentioning of Charlotte O'Hare had been changed to mention Charlie Brooks.

"Don't forget the ID and credit cards." Natasha reminded, having calmed down from her lecture mode by now as she continued to watch.

"In a minute. God, S.H.I.E.L.D needs to stop coming up with so much bullshit to go with our backstories." Charlie grumbled as this was like the 12th thing that talked about Charlotte O'Hare that needed to be hacked into and changed.

"Yeah, yeah they do." Natasha murmured in agreement because after a while it was just overkill.

That's how the two women spent most of the day, with Charlie hacking into her aliases files and changing things whilst Natasha silently watched. However the red haired female soon had to leave as she was called away for her own kind of mission. Deciding against mentioning that in a few months she would be joining the blonde girl on this mission. Knowing that if Charlie knew that S.H.I.E.L.D was sending in the Black Widow she would jump to the conclusion that they didn't think she could handle the mission. Which will automatically make her think that Natasha would be there to baby sit her and her resentment would jeopardize the mission. So she would wait, and when Charlie finds out she is on the mission to she will set things straight. That way they can both work the mission and not blow one anothers cover in front of Stark or anyone else.
