Alrighty I've done what I can to get myself back into all my stories. To be honest I ended up publishing a book on an app and had to transfer it to Amazon instead. The poem book is called silver linings if anyone was interested. Shortly after I had holiday things around every corner and then my grandmother broke an ankle and ended up passing away after her surgery. I've been dealing with my mother and had no mindset to write. Hopefully this is the start of getting in the swing again.
The great metal wheels of the Hogwarts Express squeals to a halt finally causing Ginny to slam back into reality. Clearly not at school plus with the level of alarm in the compartment around her she was left trying to gather information. Her thoughts had been wrapped up in her final weeks of summer vacation. Now though as a creeping chill filled the train all Ginny could focus on was her brother, Hermione, Harry, and Tonks whom was of growing concern the longer they waited. A booming voice had promptly told them to stay aboard and to not react.
The Order was right, Dumbledore warned them before he died that Voldemort would be using the dementors. Sure they had gone to his side almost instantly as he grew in power but she doubted anyone expect him to use them to search the train for Harry Potter. If Harry had been there they would have fought tooth an nail to keep him safe. Not just herself but all of the former Dumbledore's Army members.
However as he was not there it was best to just listen and remain calm. She tries urging the once scared Neville to not strike up. Not for his sake but his grandmother, because though they were in school they were as much captive and like a bribe to keep rebel parents in line as they were also withheld from aiding their family, therefor the risk was to high. The truth was startling yet once the ordeal was over many tried to return to whatever was normal as soon as possible.
It wasn't ignorance that this year was not going to remain the same as any other it was hope, although in vain, she could not blame anyone for thinking this way. Being around the Order and knowing the going ons she was not blindly returning to school. She might remain hopeful that her bother doesn't get caught, that Hermione's parents stay hidden, that Tonks doesn't get ripped apart while she is gone from home, and that Harry can defeat Voldemort come the end of the year but she was not going to keep wishful thinking while Severus Snape ran the school.
Aside from being weighed down with negative thoughts the train was warm once more. Ginny was helping hand out chocolate to anyone unfamiliar with the side effects of dementors. As she looked at a few scared first years she knew some of them were muggle born. All invites had been received by the time Voldemort took power and officially unless it was medically necessary all students must be in attendance hence why the ploy for Ron was so important. She hoped that as their first year they would be able survive whatever the headmaster probably has been ordered to do to them.
Given that she was pureblood all she had to do was appear to be loyal to pureblood. Hopefully in secret though she could find a few ways to help anyone struggling. Of course she wouldn't be the only ones but it wasn't lost to her that a few of her class mates have abandoned school to flee more than likely afraid to leave home and return to find their parents dead. Thus as much as she wanted to complain about things she was aware someone had it worse. She had a woman back home interested in carrying a child in the safety of her parents home and her once boyfriend was protecting her brother and best friend and vis versa.
Having nothing to fear if she showed a bit more pureblood favoritism than half blood sympathy she sat next to Neville at the table. Watched her peers all push down the struggling emotions at seeing the first years enter the great hall. No one was more choked up though than Professor McGonagall. It was obvious their was honestly distraught ripping trough each an every professor, except for Snape whom looked as emotionless as ever.
Standing as headmaster before an entire school who knows he killed the last headmaster had to be extremely uncomfortable yet he still looked as bitter and unfazed as ever. Normally a speech was given after the sorting and feast not before. He claimed the rooms attention with a swish of his robe and held no pause as he expected the students to listen.
"This year is unlike any other you have had or will ever have. It is the first year the dark lord has claimed his place and we have new teachers who are all on board for teaching the modified classes that tried to easy your natural distain for muggles. As headmaster I will enforce our new rules while adjusting any critical issues that pop up. I will not be lenient about everything however as the teachers are given permission to do as they please to educate you all. Lastly but not least Harry Potter his close friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley have failed to arrive so they are number one wanted by our Dark Lord. The last of the three I hear is sick but should this not be true or anyone knows where these delinquents are you are responsible for reporting it immediately. That is all.. Professor."
As he left the podium Professor McGonagall strode up. After the time with Umbridge that lead to the four stunners she received that same year she never thought she'd see the day Minerva held her tongue again. It was for Hermione's sake she decided she would visit her for tea and to check on her that night. This was something Hermione had begun doing in 6th year. Without her here it felt odd walking into the Gryffindor dorm room knowing all the courage in the world wasn't goin to get them through this year safely. It was a quite night full of whispers between those who wanted to oppose outright and those who believed laying low and being smart would be best.
Of course Ginny felt both sides were right as personally she wanted to tell off all the new teachers but just like everyone else her family was already on watch as possible sympathizers, one wrong move and her entire family would be in trouble. It was important to make sure Tonks had any big number of people protecting her as much as it was to make sure those numbers were members of her family. How she managed to leave was beyond her.
There was roughly an hour and half before curfew. Behind McGonagall's chamber door Ginny heard shuffling before the door was opened and she was invited in. Sitting on the couch by the fire while the tea was steeping was far less awkward than Ginny expected. Perhaps its because of the tension outside of the room. It was nicer to sit in the quite of the room than reflect over the stresses currently in play.
"I have found myself hoping you would join me in Hermione's place. Thank you for your concern Ms. Weasley."
"If you don't mind using Ginny in private."
"Of course I shall try to remember that." Pouring a cup and handing it over to Ginny she saw honest kindness and concern. "There is no need to worry Ginny this year may be much different than any of us expected but I am not the only teacher willing to stand with the children that need us, we all shall be doing as much protecting as possible."
"Honestly it actually surprises me that so many of you are still here."
"What surprises me is the arrangement that was made Severus all but vouched for our continued employment and suggested we be given a chance as they did not have time to replace us all."
"He was a bit odd with his speech this evening. I wonder why he would risk rebelling now after everything." Contemplating this while sipping tea brought the pair into a small silence so early into the time they had but it wasn't strained or awkward. In the shared silence Ginny felt the creeping worry rising again. Minerva could see the crease in her brow and offered her something that helped her at times like this.
"Being the daughter of a minster I found one a few things ease the stress of times like this. Though its not the ideal I surround myself by I find the simple act of wishing some one well, a prayer, has so much power."Minerva summons a few candles to light. "The flame helps focus on the person. Magic thrives off intent so if you really want it then we often find we get. It. Will you join me in this?"
Ginny nods she wants to focus on her whole family, her friends and her lover. With Minerva's patience she knows she could but as she battles with who to start with Minerva's whispers thankfully suggests she need not define the most important person first as she considers the students first. By the time Ginny has spent plenty of minutes on each person she wishes protection it's getting much to late.
"I haven't a clue what to tell the students." Ginny says thinking of walking back into the Gryffindor common room.
"Well I must make my rounds there anyways for the first years let's walk together." She says like normal while trying not to sound as if kicking Ginny out. "The truth is there is nothing we can say. This year is going to be set unimaginably unbearable."
As they walk they see Mrs Norris and Filch lurking the corridors. He was grinning as if waiting for the first misstep of a student. Upon seeing Ginny then Minerva he scowled deeply and scurried of somewhere else.
"Of course he would be happier the miserable oaf."
"He's just jealous I heard. He takes classes to learn magic. Not that I blame him he should be upset he can't do everything we can but he's so bitter towards students for it." She didn't want to sound like a gossiping child but she said it anyways having heard the trio talking about it once.
"Bless his soul but Dumbledore always did have a knack for finding important uses for anyone no matter how dreadful they were." It didn't take long for the pair to reach the fat lady's portrait. Arriving though took away all the fun an freedom as Minerva made sure her hair was perfect and her stern expression was worn.
Ginny only entered the common room expecting to see the same worried face she saw before she left. There were a few however it seemed the majority had settled in and all that remained were those with most risk. The first years seemed to be all in the dorms already and while Ginny wanted to help she remembered Minervas first speech well enough to know she'd have it all covered. The comfort of this was the only thing to help get her to sleep.
As a matter of fact she noticed a few happy cheery faces despite circumstances the next few days. Yet as time went on every day lead to fewer and fewer. The blame would be on the Carrow twins but they were more than happy to have muggle born to torture. Minerva like most teachers did the best they could to keep things from anyone not in Voldemort's pocket.
Not that HIS lot didn't make up the numbers with their own methods. No one fooled around. If her brothers Fred an George were here she suspected they to Would not be as out of line either. They were now the joy and light in the dark out in the real world. Their rebellious nature gave hope to every normal witch and wizard.
It felt like it was now her job as the last Weasley but the weight of it hurt so much a regular tea time with Minerva had been her only way to decompress. She wasn't as good at chess as Ron but they played anyways. Although she read more than Ron or Harry she stood no chance compared to Hermione.
Secretly Minerva was taking letters to Rosemerta for her to send out from the children with parents in the Order. That was including Neville, Luna with how close her father was to the situation, and Susan bones. For Susan it was Donetsk honor her being part of Dumbledore's army and being one of her family's surviving members from the Order. No one else wanted to risk getting caught.
Between Rosemerta and Aberforth Dumbledore Ginny knew her brother and fathers plan was still working and that Tonks was very much healthy and pregnant. She was not straining herself but she mentions how much her mother wanted to smother her. She told Ginny she never took Ron's form in front of Molly as she knew she was worried enough without the reminder. On if she was outside. Unfortunately she rarely did that even just enough for the nutrition.
Bottom line she asked her mother to do a little less smothering and a little more things together to keep their minds of the troubles. Ginny felt bad for her mother because she knew her uncles fought so hard to stay alive and still died all children are fighters while no one wanted a similar fate the Weasleys never backed down.
As often the letters came and went in secret everyone was on edge. Waiting for the next one was agonizing. Eventually the D.A was in full swing though Ginny took part she forwent public attention like Neville and a few others. It was their only distractions. Stopping the death eater teachers from hurting students or refusing to do it when told to, usually resulting in a beating. It went so far as freezing kids from the torture of their detention.
"Neville you gotta be more low key." she told him one day in the room of requirements before the last D.A. Meeting before Christmas break . Surely he knew the risks to himself but what about someone else. His gran was a tough cookie but by no means did it feel okay to let him keep on this way. She was fine with leaving writing on walls about D.A. Even disrupting the detentions but never enough to warrant an attack on her family. Neville hadn't received word from his Gran making him begin to worry.
"I know Micheal Corner's gone and got in trouble" he said knowing she was familiar with her ex boyfriend. "He freed up a first year and got so punished for it. I don't think he looked that great we gotta start being more discreet." He continues causing Ginny to slightly grow concerned for the guys well being.
"He's a bloody Ravenclaw he should be smarter than that dammit. It's not your fault just try doing what you can on the down low from now on." He nods looking to Luna whom has been very kind to him all this while.
"My father isn't letting up with his newsletters but if he too doesn't lay low I'm afraid won't get to see him if I go home. I've been doing best to not cause him trouble. I suppose our peers are more prepared for consequences than even us." This make Neville think of how strong his Gran is and this gives him some peace knowing she'd be proud if anything.
A few members start to show up while others stay away to keep things inconspicuous. Those of the same houses switched places and always relayed the meetings details to one another. Cho Chang who was dating Michael now came up to them.
"Michael asked me to tell you all he's fine. He felt he was gonna be watched to closely so he sent me instead."
"Probably for the best." Ginny said putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. Times like this they often wondered if this was what the original order members felt like. Was it as stressful or is all this child's play to the struggles they faced.
"He needs to rest up. Alright guys this meeting is pretty simple. We all need to be careful from now on. We've done so much this past several months that it feels like we are invincible but we aren't and if something happens to us no one will be left to stand in the way."
"We can't give up now." Susan Jones interrupts.
"Of course not but we are all important. From now on we need to prioritize not getting caught. Michael Corner is now proof just how far they will punish you guys."
"I don't care about the risks."
"I don't either trust me but some of us need to remember our families. The D.A. Is just like the Order of the Phoenix which means like my parents the risks can come how we least expect them. My parents were tortured into insanity, Harry's parents died, and Susan even you have lost family. We haven't much left to lose but Cho, Alicia, lavender, and anyone who does use caution from now on." Neville plead
"Also when we come back from break we need head count so if everyone can send a message saying they are okay. The usual way should work just run it by house. Count off members in your house and report in. Tonight is just our way of reminding you all we are in this together." A pile of trays are revealed behind them as Ginny spoke.
"Dobby and Winky worked this up for us." Luna beams happily. Everyone in attendance bustled to the plates and enjoyed the sweets. Some left with treats to offer to their housemates that were not able to come. After everyone left before curfew Ginny and Neville let Luna leave so the room would make a door closer to her house and she was less likely to get caught. This was a new ability they learned the room could do for them so they used it. Two finally two left as well as they stepped out of the room and it disappeared Ginny thought out loud.
"I wish there was a way to the outside when we are in there. I wish I could see my family an you yours." They knew all the secret passages where constantly guarded and never worth it to try using any of them. They were all collapsed, closed off, or destroyed. Neville agreed quietly. He had changed so much since the ministry of magic incident. He'd become a great leader and very openly fond of Luna. Something she never expected from the shy guy she danced with at the Yule ball. She was proud of him so his grandma had to be super proud. "Hey wanna listen to potter watch with the others tonight."
"Yeah let's go I think Filtch is looking at us anyways." They walk faster so not to be late and get caught up in detention. As they enter the common room the radio is already playing. Her brothers Fred and George have been so great in this way, untraceable radio updates for anyone wondering about loved ones or what's really going on. Lee Jordan was helping just like always. Sounded like they have just finished a moment of silence. There was just a small group near the radio, the volume was low, and they were all certain members of the D.A.
"Hey meeting went we'll?" Angelina Fred's ex girlfriend whispers as one of the twins starts talking. Ginny nods and without having to explain anything to her then they listen in too. Segment after segment and they eventually mention new at large names. This means a lot to some. Not hearing your loved one on the deceased list is a blessing but if your worried about family its not the only list to listen to.
"After leaving behind a bunch of death eaters badly beaten we might add Augusta Longbottom has made a run for it with no traces to find her. The death eaters are looking but we are pretty confident they wont find her and they wont beat her even if they did." Everyone looks to Neville who while looking completely shocked and worried also is smiling. His gran would never be taken in, for his sake. She knew he was doing his best to be himself for once by standing up and being strong something she'd always wanted from him. She would never let anything happen to her as long as he was doing his best too. "That being said Longbottom will be the password for next broadcast signing off till next time."
The potter watch had helped so much and no doubt would keep helping but right now they couldn't shut the radio off fast enough. It was just as bad as the time they reported Harry breaking into the ministry. Silence hung in the air but a boy came up and patted Neville on the back. He was new to the D.A. But he'd known Neville a long time.
"Least she is making sure you don't have to stop what were doing. "
"Yeah definitely not but guys we decided at the meeting to have everyone start protecting yourselves first if you can help someone without getting caught great but if not and you have family please use caution from now on. I know it sounds like a cop out or like we are giving up but we cant have another one going and getting hurt like Michael Corner."
A few grumbles went around but each person there agreed to the new rules. Passing around the treats left over from the meeting they enjoyed a night together before the break started. Eventually they would all be packed and ready to see home. It looked as if Neville would be staying but maybe he would want to go home to visit his parents. Personally Ginny would go with her friend but she had to see Tonks, had to see her parents, and her brothers. Luna should go and as she went to bed that night she thought of asking her to offer Neville some company.
The day they all met on the train though and made conversation for about an hour, as if still keeping the facade the school was not under the dark lords direct power, the train was stopped. They were then forced to the backs of the compartments while Luna was taken in by death eaters. Neville would have moved and defended her if he hadn't been unable to move. Ginny was stronger than she looked and held him back. Despite a busted lip and bruised rib from all his pushing and wrestling he hadn't made to much commotion to get hauled away too.
"You shouldn't have stopped me Gin." Feeling guilty as she cleaned up her face.
"We don't know what's going on but its not a punishment for her it's probably her dad."
"Still."
"Still nothing if you had even laid a hand on one of them raised your wand anything you'd be dead and they'd still be taking her. We'd have no leader. Is that what your okay with right now. She will be fine."
"I hope you are right." They sit in silence the rest of the way. Neville is now alone as he heads home or to his parents at the hospital. Ginny is being brought home by her dad. They pass familiar death eaters all set up to spot anyone trying to sneak to their kids who are suppose to wanted. Its not far from the train that she spots Remus. Her heart stops. Even her hands get sweaty.
"He isn't here for that he's just on orders. With his senses im sure he's suppose to notice subtle things." Her father is whispering this so he wont pick it up at all. They head straight for the wall and ready to leave when Remus cuts in front of them.
He looks at the pair in disgust. Ginny had never seen him like this. Never seen him so lost and yet fine with it. A few moments pass and Arthur pulls his expression in order and says.
"Remus friend I heard you were lost and stuck in a tough place, you're not working for these guys are you? We've been through so much can we convince they won't get you like we do. You're not a monster you're family." Trying not to make it obvious that information came from Tonks but also make it appear like he himself is not in the order anymore.
"You expect me to believe you don't know the truth?"
"Well you know I can't afford to put my kids at risk anymore after George got hurt we stopped pretending we could fix things. It has gotten around you hurt Tonks while she's pregnant you left her but if you stop this now I'm sure she'll forgive you." Ginny felt her stomach wretch, she knew that father of son trumped girlfriend but could he really think that.
"Get the hell out of here Weasley you don't know what's going on and your wrong she's never going to forgive me and I'm not giving up on my true self again." Following her father she struggled to settle that battle in her chest. The last several month Tonks didn't give her any signs to taking Remus back, hadn't said she changed her mind, and hadn't made any suggestions to ending their relationship but what if she had said something to her parents.
Arriving home was a cascade of love kisses and hugs from her mother or rough squeezes from her father. Surviving night one back home was going to be as challenging as arm wrestling Gwamp. Ginny tried to enjoy the attention seeing how she missed and worried about them the whole time she was at school but she couldn't. She was focused on Tonks and Remus due to the run in they had. Eventually she was left alone with her mom.
"Ginny dear can you ask your brothers if they are staying for dinner. I hope they are." Her mother asks while happy her daughter was home Ginny knew she'd rather that the whole family were together.
"Yeah mom." Leaving the kitchen she went up the stairs. Hearing some crying she paused, was that Tonks? She hadn't seen her when she got home but it seemed like she was upset. Ready to enter the ajar room she forgets her brothers. Just as she reaches the door she hears a soothing voice from her father.
"Shh it's alight he can't come here and he can't tell anyone. He didn't follow us I swear."
"Did he threaten you? Ginny?" Her voice is so broken but she can hear her.
"Yes but soon he'll see it's okay he can come back." Ginny remembers the time Tonks says she almost hopes he doesn't and wonders if it's still true given all this time.
"He can't I can't let him. It's not.. I've told you he's gone to far." Arthur hums and lets her continue. "Its been so nice here with you guys getting letters from Ginny and not having to worry about him. If he can find me or if he finally figured out where I was hiding. You had to lie to him and I'm sure you seeing him put you in a terrible position as his friend but I don't love him any more. I love-my son." He had to be nearing his due date and this means Tonks had a lot of emotions going on. Not wanting to add to them Ginny swept through the hall up to her brothers room without waiting another moment. Her father left shortly after when she was leaving with a confirmation about staying for dinner.
"Hey Gin, might wanna swing in there see if you can help." Her father motions to the now closed door. She tells him to tell mom the twins were staying. She peaked in the room and knocked gently. It was her room still but Ginny figured it was for the best. Not seeing Tonks when she came home she hadn't a clue what she looked like now but seeing her stomach under her hands as she silently cried left her breathless. She was stunning and looked like the whole world could be burning to a crisp yet she's still be the one she'd be focused on.
"Ooh hoo Ginny don't look I'm rather a mess." Tonks said looking up. Startled she makes to wipe her face.
"Stop you look amazing. I didn't see you earlier I didn't know if you.. I though you might have left or didn't want to see me." Walking up to her she pulls Tonks hand down away from her face. As she finishes she looks down at their hands together and lets go.
"What no I didn't want to intrude on your family seeing you first. You are crazy if you think I don't want to see you. All those letters weren't just some things I wrote. I told you I missed you, couldn't sleep without you, and gosh I wanted to sneak into Hogsmeade to see you."
"Well yeah but you hadn't seen me I thought that might have been just your way of saying things to make my year feel better knowing I still had you safe at home." It felt silly now thinking this but she had said it and clearly it wasn't anything like what she assumed.
"I promise Ginny I meant them. We might not of had much time to act like we were getting closer but I feel closer to you even after all this time of you being away." A month had not been enough but Ginny knew exactly what she meant. 'Next time I wont hide I wanna be the first one to hug you and welcome you home but I am not fighting Molly."
"Yeah don't you dare step in front of her when I get home. That does mean a lot though."
"So what made you late? I mean aside from my ex husband harassing you."
"Actually Luna got dragged of the train an hour away from Hogwarts. The death eaters try making it look like it has nothing to do with the school more so them stopping the train but anyone aware of the truth knows they are tied to the school." Ginny says having already told her dad on the way home.
"We didn't really talk much about what you was doing at school but I got the feeling that you are up to stuff you don't want your mother to know about. I wish we could have sent letters separately but I know getting minerva to sneak any was a risk enough already."
"Yeah I couldn't tell you in a letter we restarted the D.A. We have been stopping the Carrow twins from torturing first years or any muggle borns. There is so much we've been trying to help with but I missed not telling you. Harry and Hermione would be proud of us I think but even with us deciding to be more careful to not get caught Luna still got taken."
"Quibbler has been a little to much on fire lately I suppose they took her for something to do with that but as long as he is good no harm will come to her. For now the order is going to look for her and try saving her." Ginny was now on the bed getting comfortable talking until the food was done. Neither one felt any awkwardness. They shared things they hadn't been able to say on paper they shared long pauses and gazes that made it feel like before again. Just before Ginny left they were inseparable not having shared anything more than cuddling in bed together and soft touches.
Never having received these moments from any of her boyfriends Harry included Ginny wasn't sure if this was normal for best friends to get close this slowly when they realized they like one another. Normally girls talked about kissing boys and how it was suppose to be but nobody ever said if girls liked kissing all the time like boys do. In fact all the boys she dated like her butt a lot more than anything else but Tonks hadn't really tried anything else yet.
Looking at her lips Ginny shifted on the bed. They were a slight maroon color like her hair. The way they sat between her teeth carefully as she listened distracted Ginny even if she tried not to show it. She liked the idea of what it might be like to kiss Tonks but found herself shifting again this time she got up nervously and paced by the foot of the bed. Her father seemed to think if Remus came back he and Tonks would still get back together how can she kiss her knowing that her family is rooting for the ex husband and father of the baby to come to his senses one day.
"Gin? You okay?"
"huh yeah. I was just saying we can probably hold out on meetings if anyone gets caught but its always about helping when we can so I just tried to tell people we need to be more careful."
"I heard what you say about you classmates getting pretty bad detentions if they are caught but I was more concerned about why you look nervous and are pacing."
"oh."
"What's wrong."
"I over heard your conversation a little with my father I didn't want to but they don't seem to be as observant as I though they were. I like what's going on between us even if I haven't seen you I still feel….happiness when I talk to you and am with you. Dad doesn't even seem to notice he just wants his friend to come back and sweep you off your feet again."
"That's not going to happen" Tonks says matter of factly. "The papers are all filed and I'm not going down any road with him even if he does come back to normal. I haven't said anything to your parents because I didn't know how you would feel about them knowing I thought you mother might know but I never said anything to be sure."
"If my mother knew about it we would know. I don't think she'd ever take me wanting to kiss a witch well." Ginny jokes but their eyes meet and her laugh catches. Tonks eyes darken slightly.
"Your mom is not crazy or old fashioned a little kissing wouldn't send her off the deep end. A little shagging might though." She's not wrong making the moment pass with some laughs "so you want to kiss a witch?" She teases making Ginny blush.
"I-"
"Ladies the food is getting cold." They heard the call for dinner minutes ago but they forgot as they were..talking. The question 'Was it heading to more?' sat on both of their minds as they scurried to dinner. Much like before Fred and George was there again Ron, Bill, and Charlie were working hard for the order living in their own home or on the run. Percy was not coming over but seemed to have some inclination to want to return to his family it just wasn't today.
"Ginny you need to come by the shop soon forgot to mention out newest stuff to you." Fred said as he dug into his meat.
"Yeah I'd say 'mom' could go again like last time but she's been having some issues getting her ability to change everything." George says giving Tonks an apologetic look knowing it sounded worse than he meant it to. Molly looks appalled at her son and looks tempted to swat him with the wooden spoon in hand.
"Ha it's alright Molly I'm not offended it's a beautiful reason I can't I'm not ashamed. Besides my ability is for manipulation to me not the size of my stomach when something is growing inside it."
The family enjoy dinner and have a familiar winding down the night pot of tea. Ginny helps clean quickly as she knows her mom will start asking about a boyfriend or about her friends from school. She didn't mind talking about her friends but she always hated talking boys to her mom.
"So sweetie," here it was. "Have you been dating? Any boys or girls you filled your time with yet with Harry being gone? Cant be lonely all year I remember just how hard it was before I had your father in my life."
"Mom I'm not dating!" She pauses did she just hear her mother say what she thought she did. "Girls? You never ask about girls. Did I give you some impression or something."
"Honestly I thought. Well I thought you and Tonks were getting along to well that you and she…I didn't want to assume since your letters hardly suggested anything but I'm not against it either. I wanted you to know Harry is family but he doesn't have to be married in. Tonks has had a rough situation that you seem to make better but if there is nothing to discuss then forget I asked."
"What? Geez mum you are impossible!" Ginny starts feeling embarrassed her mom knows. "We haven't even made anything out of it yet. It just been nice to have someone interested. Do you think dad will mind?"
"Don't worry about dad he will be fine even if he doesn't like the idea of it he will come around. You should figure that out soon because Harry can be back any day and you should tell him as soon as you can."
"Yeah you're right."
Much later after the cleaning and tea the house grew quiet leaving everyone to their own devices. Sometimes a board game or card game was brought out to make things feel more together but tonight was about and end to a hectic day. The twin followed the girls up the stairs and as they went to their own room the pair joked about Ginny keeping her hands to herself.
"Blast! Those dickwads listened in to me and mom or something."
"Really?" Tonks asks looking around for the usual culprit the removable ear.
"Mum asked about me dating but she said boys or girls as if to say she knew. We talked guess she is cool with it and says dad will be over it soon if he has any issues."
"You don't think he will though?"
"No he normally hasn't given an opinion about same sex relationships." They both blush though Tonks enters the closet in the room. Their previous conversation still in mind. When Tonks comes out changed in a simple gown she can't help but ask if Ginny wants her bed to herself now that the initial reason Tonks needed company at night was because of her nightmares. Now months later it was not a fair excuse.
"I can always take the other room again while you're back?" Ginny has no clue what brought this on but it makes her realize that Tonks is practically her girlfriend and her mother who brought up Ginny's choice in relationships but hadn't laid down any rules would not approve of them sharing a bed.
"I really want to say no that we can stay together like we did before but I have a feeling we aren't anything like we were. Just talking about kissing I know I want more someday. I want to do this right and treat you like you deserve. Besides I assume my mother is expecting me to make smart decisions for myself right now too."
"Ive been treated right by you, your family, even Remus at one point. Its you that deserves it. I would never rush you. I imagine we should sleep separately but that's not to say I have to leave right now right?" Ginny shakes her head and hugs Tonks, her face in her chest. Running her fingers through the redheads hair they shared a burning need. Looking at one another it was clear how much they both wanted this one thing. Light brown eye flickered closed as Tonks leans in.
Ginnys grasps tightly onto the hips in front of her. Careful not to push or lean into the stomach before her. Being the same height had its challenges for leaning into the kiss. It was different but by no means worse. In fact Tonks had perfectly soft lips that tasted heavenly. Sweet as honeysuckle. Tempting like flying a forbidden broom when she was younger.
Ginny could feel all the mature desires building inside her but knowing she had to push them down made it so tempting to let them burn freely. Letting her tongue brush against Tonk's bottom lip and feeling the beginnings of a noise rise in her throat during such a normally nonreactive experience made her blush an pull back.
"Don't it's sweet. I'm not exactly the most appealing at the moment with my dues date a good 4 months away. I am expecting a lot of clumsy on my part to be honest."
"Have you ever with another woman?" Yes it was sudden but she just had to know.
"Yes but I'm not sure that's an issue I never thought to ask myself the sexuality question because of my ability. I never wanted to be against it and I never intended to settle down until I met someone special I just thought that was Remus until that ended. Why?"
"Of all the times I've had a first kiss I've never.. Moaned into it. It never felt that good Tonks. It's like I've died and gone to heaven."
"Even with-"
"Harry? yes I'm telling you it was amazing. Is it supposed to be like that when both people feel the way we do?"
"It was wasn't it. I have never felt a spark of excitement like that. When it came to me and Remus I was driven to be with him when we met. I felt for his life his story and kindness but he was like a best friend and Essentially I don't think I ever kissed him passionately. Not like that."
"I wanted more."
"I suppose it's a good thing we talked about it." Tonks jokes making Ginny chuckle a little as she let go of Tonks's waist who quickly re-clasped them. "I don't mean I want you to go just yet. Stay we don't have to do anything else unless you want to but you really don't need to leave."
With a soft smile Ginny returns to their hug. Eventually they sit on the bed for Tonks to get off her feet but there was no rush to leave and so they stayed up as long as Ginny could bare to see Tonks slowly nodding off. At some point even though it was mid conversation she let the pregnant woman nod off for several minutes. She then levitated her just enough to make her comfortable in bed. Not waking her once she kissed her forehead and threaded back loose maroon locks before leaving.
For one more night she can let her stay in her room she told herself as she walked to what was supposed to be Tonks's room. The thought came why did she never switch back after Ginny left. Was it just easier or familiar at that point. As she laid down and closed her eyes she felt almost at peace despite realizing this bed didn't smell like Tonks thus leaving her feeling lonely.
The next morning for breakfast Bill and Fleur came by knowing she'd made it in. They didn't seem to be surprised about Tonks's presence. So they must have been by a few times which would have made her mother really happy. Tonks still looked stunning though she'd changed from her silk gown, her hair turned more plum today, and though she had the ability to change it her skin was glowing.
"Oh Tonks pregnancy really fits you" Fleur says in her usual French accent. Molly always hated it but it seemed the more days that passed after the wedding the less she expected Bill to be leaving the blonde. Tonks blushes waving the compliment off.
"No she's right you are glowing. It's beautiful." Ginny says as her mother puts a plate in front of her. The topic from the night before not lost to her but any friend would say this right not just a girlfriend. "Right mom she looks great."
"Yes sweetie she's been glowing for a while but yes Fleur it does become her." Her mother winks at her making her cheeks flush slightly. She was trying to play it cool though Ginny didn't care if everyone knew. Well as long as Tonks was okay with it.
"Any changes with the Remus of the situation." Bill asks trying to keep the topic seemingly light.
"We saw him yesterday. He was with some death eaters trying to find people sneaking to see the kids as they got off the train. People who have been wanted or something. It's terrible they just want to make sure they are okay and they gotta take away that simple moment."
"Well it is a time of war. It's why Hermione sent her parents away."Bill offers as an explanation. She did but Hermione intended on finding them again. Ginny understood the idea just not how people were okay leaving family. Her family was everything. An everyday refreshing factor in her life.
"I couldn't possibly do that." She says.
"He wasn't interested in if you guys knew were Tonks was?" Fleur asked oblivious to how this alone make the topic so much heavier than it was just a moment ago. Ginny offered a look of remorse to Tonks that this was where it was going. She didn't look fazed.
"It's alright I accepted it last night. Arthur told me he did ask even though it wasn't his purpose for being there. I wish this meant his minimal interest meant he was giving up but if they brain washed him who knows how long he intendeds to do this. I wish Arthur could have apprehended him but it would have been a red flag right away."
"Oh alright everyone let's enjoy breakfast instead of order stuff." It was almost strange to consider the situation as related to the order but no one seemed to complain about the demand. Not that they could if they wanted breakfast. "Ginny I have to work some chores later would you mind helping Tonks later with her labor practice."
"They call it Lamaze mom and yeah I don't mind if she doesn't."
"No I don't mind." The way her eyes looked over at Ginny the way the words flowed off her tongue Ginny was left speechless. Thankfully the twins who had staid the night and Arthur had come down as well now and where making so much noise Bill and Fleur's attention were off them.
"Come on dad it's just-"
" a little favor." They could be heard say but Arthur who never sounded firmly turned adamantly towards them.
"I said no a little or not I can't go on your radio. You've been having Shacklebolt and Diggle." They both mumble fine and sit done one on each side of Tonks as those were open.
"Morning Tonks!" They said.
"Wotcher it's gonna be a good day I can feel it."
It was a great day in fact. Once the family had spent some time together there was few things that needed doing. Ginny however was free to help Tonks. The witch in question was dressed in extra loose lazy day or Exercise clothes when they set up in the living room. The more Tonks explained everything she and Molly had been working together on all these months. The latter peeked her head in to check things were fine and scurried off definitely up to something.
The pair sat back to front while Tonks imitated pregnancy. Ginny rubbed her back finding the tension was almost all lower back. The moment she started there Tonks melted and had a hard time pretending to be breath through the pain.
"Don't pregnant witches normally just go to St. Mungo's you sound like you would need a pain potion or a calming draught."
"I would but I'd have to assume unless I'm early or late Remus will be checking. He will be hoping I'm alone. Besides your mom may not seem like it but she's gifted with Healer skills she did have 7 children."
"Oh yeah I guess why risk it when mom is so ready and happy to help here." Her mother loves almost anyone like family and was willing to do anything possible for family Tonks was now included. Ginny takes to massaging again making Tonks jello once more.
A few hours later as they get up and take the pillows they had dragged down they realize they are alone inside. The moment the realize this is as they are walking up the stairs they see all the read heads and even Fleur working outside. The field around the house had gotten out of control lately and it looked like they were helping trim it all to a reasonable size. Ginny would have gone to help if it wasn't going to leave Tonks inside alone.
They place the pillows back on the bed gingerly as they watch each other closely. Feeling bold Ginny takes Tonks hand and proceeds to walk over to her as she guides her to sit on the bed. Her legs part just slightly for Ginny to stand between them. Leaning down red strands cascade over their faces effectively silencing the questions Tonks almost asked.
This time Ginny felt the moment she touched lips with her that the world had fallen away. The bump didn't have an effect on their similar height this time and she felt much closer. The way Tonks wrapped her hands up Ginny's low back told her she felt it too.
Trailing their hands all over they feel locked on to each other's mouths and as easy as it would be to lean down further to kiss along Tonks's neck Ginny resists the urge. In turn she finds her nails gently hooking into Tonks's shoulders. A moan escapes causing shivers to spiral down her spine.
With the shiver comes and uncontrollable move to the exposed neck. Fluttering kisses cover the skin. Heat of her tongue swipes over the racing pulse. A second moan catches.
"Ginny." Though it is said pleadingly Tonks lightly pulls away holding Ginny back. "As much as I really want to right now we can't. I look so huge and trust me it's not the first impression I want our sexual experience to remind you of."
"You said that last night and I don't care. Okay I care if you want something done to you or not but I don't care about your baby stomach. I love you tummy, I love your baby boy even though he's not here yet, I love that you are gonna be a mom. I'm think it's the best time to show you how I feel. You have needs and I want you know know I love you even if you feel you're at your worst."
"You love me?" Ginny gulps. How had she not realized before now how deeply she felt. Had it been the time away and still feeling the same coming back. Was it the subtle difference that being with Tonks made her feel. Yes it was all that an more.
"Yes" she says as her heart begins pounding. "I don't know when but you mean so much to me more than I've ever felt before. I'm sorry if its to soon maybe your right sex is to soon I just wanted to share how I felt I didn't think about us moving to fast."
"I love you too!" Tonks practically shouts over ginny trying to cut off the ramblings. "I love you too." With that Tonks reaches up and pulls her in for a kiss. It's fierce like a battle over claiming the perfect spot, the bottom lip between hers. Every time she get a hold Ginny would capture her own. Tonks found herself fighting and the bed trying to wiggle back onto the bed. They laid together facing one another as they made out. Though in the heat of the moment neither rushed.
That wasn't to say that finger tips were not teasing beneath the fabric. Every time a shiver or goosebump spot was found sounds echoed the room. Somehow Ginny shifted her legs becoming tangled yet now pressing into Tonks's core. The begging whimper that came was all the signs the pair needed to say there was no stopping now.
They must though. To make something clear to everyone Ginny is 17 in her 6th year much like everyone is an though it would be legal cuz being under age was under 17 there may be nothing serious happening until after she graduates but i have to tease to add to the my plot. so thank you for feeling the need to tell me but my idea isnt all about smut.
Please review as it helps me a lot make this story even better if need be.
