"Holy cow, did you see all those guys?!" Momo asked his new teammates excitedly as they had just finished watching the new Beacon First-Years finish their initiation. He'd been particularly enthralled when Yang has emptied her gantlets into a Nevermore SHE WAS RIDING and when Blake displayed very ninja like grave and poise.
"Yes, indeed. I must admit, my sister's prowess is nothing to scoff at." Whitley said while taking a sip of cider. Maine was silently playing with a Rubik's Cube and Ben was leaning back, going over the footage of Ruby decapitating a giant Nevermore with help from Weiss.
"She's like her mom. A spitting image, I'd say." He mused, memories of Summer patting his head and wishing him well playing in his mind.
"Gentlemen, we should be prepared to show Beacon what we can do," Sigma said, making his presence known beside Maine and startling the others
"A little warning next time, please!" Whitley demanded.
"Does he do that often?" Momo asked, checking his heart. When all Maine did was nod, he was unsure how to feel.
Ben however, seemed to light up, stuffing his scroll away and leaping to the ready
"FINALLY! SOME ACTION!" He cheered, motioning the others to follow. "Come on guys, time to show why we're here!"
Maine nodded as Sigma pointed in Ben's direction before disappearing, Whitley and Momo following.

The woods around Beacon would never be completely free of Grimm. No mater how many teams where sent out, a few always managed to escape and as many as had been killed would spawn to replace what had died. No one was exactly sure how it worked, but if the few Dust-Bio weapons Merlot Industries and Atlas' top minds couldn't wipe them out, everyone had agreed to just settle for them being there, if for no reason that provide the students some constant training possibilities.
However, on this day, it came the closest to being free of Grimm since the days of Team STRQ.
BWMM
"Before we begin, perhaps we should make a little wager?" Whitely suggested.
"Whoever kills the most gets half of the losers' allowance for a month?" Ben suggested.
Maine and Momotaro nodded, just as a horde of Beowulfs, Ursa and Nightcrawlkers surrounded them.
"Aw, how cute." Sigma mused. "They think numbers will help."
Maine stepped forward, drawing a heavy artillery, rapid fire gun of some sort, slaying many of the Beowulves, although the Alpha managed to hop away. A Boaratusk suddenly appeared and knocked the weapon away with its spinning attack, but Maine, undettered, simply punched it mid spin, sending it crashing to the ground. A laser or plasma blade then manifested from his left arm, and he slashed right through an Ursa before tossing two grenades at the Nevermores, blowing their heads off.
The Alpha Beowulf suddenly charged, Maine ducking under and then, with all the strength he had….
"OOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" The Alpha let out a pained yelp than any male would recognize and wince at before Maine leapt upwards, his blade slicing the Grimm in two as he did so before returning to the ground.
However, that was all forgotten.
"DUDE!" Ben shouted.
"THAT IS NOT NESSACARY!" Momotaro added. "EVEN IF THEY ARE PERSONIFICATIONS OF FEAR AND OR EVIL!"
"Victory and protecting at any cost." Was all Sigma said, Maine stopping and saluting.
A nevermore sunddely swept down and grabbed Momo, who had time to draw his katana and slice one of its claws before he transformed into a rooster, flapping his wings like crazy
"I ALWAYS GET THE WRONG ANIMAL!" The prince screamed as he started falling, shifting his form and suddenly turning into a pile of sand before he sproted back from the ground out of a plant. The Nevermore was racing back, revenge clear, but Momotaro simply smirked as a bubble surrounded his katana and his arms turned into flames as he reeling them back….
"VACUO ONE SWORD STYLE: FLAMING HEAVEN'S QUAKE!"
The Nevermore made contact with Momotaro's sword, from which came a crack in on the creature's skull as the swung arms unleashed a torrent of flames, just as a blast of wind came from the crack, sending the now dead Nevermore back and slaying many of its fellows.
Momotaro than took a deep breath and looked at his teammates sheepishly.
"Um, Momo? Explain." Whitely requested.
"Have you ever heard of the Devil Tree?" The prince asked.
"The fairy tale or the horror movie?" Whitely asked, getting looks from Ben and Maine. "….I was bored one day, mother was in the library drinking and father was out. I don't regret seeing it; for such an old film the suspense is Hitchcockian, and the monster affects are actually well aged, and I am going to shut up now."
The attention returned to the Prince of Vacuo.
"Well, long story short; it did exist. On the outskirts of a small village, unknown to almost everyone despite its huge size. After I ate a fruit off it, my parents had it cut down and used the wood to give the poor homes." Momo explained. "And as you can tell, the tales of the Devil Fruits are true."
Sigma manifested to speak in Maine's place.
"So, the fruit gave you incredible powers, but took away your semblance?"
"Yup." Momo beamed. "Also, I can't even touch salt water of any kind without losing all my strength or drowning to the bottom."
The fact he was still smiling as he said this both intrigued and worried all who saw the tests.
It was then they recalled the Grimm still advancing on them.
Ben waved his hands as golden fire manifested from them before making kung-fu sounds as he shot bolts of fireballs that incinerated the Grimm on contact. He then made more hand motions and slammed them into the ground, a tremor echoing across before several sharp stone stalagmites shot up, impaling the unlucky Grimm that ended up being underneath.
Whitley smirked as a small pack of Beowolves and Boarbatusks charged toward him before holding his arm out, the hand and forearm suddenly splitting open and folding backward, revealing he had somehow stored a quad-barreled minigun in his armor.
The gun barrels began to extend going from a foot to reaching their full length of four feet. Almost hypnotically they began to spin, revving up in preparation for the oncoming slaughter. Whitley unloaded a storm of Dust bullets in retaliation for the Grimm's advance on his team's position. The loud clicking of the gun drowned out the sound of the stampede. Some were slightly smarter than their fallen brethren and trip to flank him from the left.
"Maine, sic 'em," Sigma ordered as Maine growled and used his Brute Shot's blade to slice apart the Grimm that tried to catch Whitley off-guard, finishing by impaling an Ursa Major through the stomach and firing a grenade that blew it into black shadowy giblets.
Whitley rushed forward as his armor's right hand went through the same folding sequence as his left but the weapon was different; it was a Flamethrower-type launcher that could be loaded with different kinds of Dust and right now, it was primed with Fire Dust.
"Let's see if my cooking skills have improved."
Blue flames roared out of the flamethrower in a wide swath. Sweeping his arm, Whitley bathed the Grimm and the border of the forest in a cloud of flames. He just kept firing the flamethrower making a quite literal wall of flames in front of him.
"Burn, baby, burn!" Ben said, putting on a pair of shades along with Momo while Maine tapped a button on his visor to take a picture.
After a minute of sustained fire, Whitley finally relented and waited for the smoke to clear. When the smoke dissipated, he was greeted to the sight of a graveyard of dissolving Grimm. The burning trees finally fell preventing any more Grimm from attacking.
"Well, gentlemen?" The Schnee Scion asked coyly. "I believe I win the most kills?"
Ben and Momo scowled and handed him some Lien, which he smugly accepted. When Maine tried in vain to find some Lien, Whitely waved it off for the moments. The four boys then headed on back, their initiation finished...and they had more than impressed.
BWMM
Unknown to the boys, their fight had been recorded and shown to the successful teams:
Weiss' voice had vanished, shock at her little brother's skills and intrigue as to how he had come across what he used. Blake was intrigued with Momotaro, Ruby gushing over how he was a real-life fairy-tale character (her intrigue especially with his Cookie powers) with Yang nodding, impressed by the prince's skills. Nora and Pyrrha were in awe of Maine, the Invinicble Spartan feeling exactment at the possibility of a truly worthy rival.
"These four young men, along with another team that will be arriving shortly, will act as prefects and security for the students and staff, while also learning with the rest of you." Ozpin explained with a proud smile on his face. "As you can see, they are quite skilled. Lets hope you all grow to eclipse or at least equal them."
Teams RWBY and JNPR broke the awkward silence with a great big cheer, which BWMM took as the teams headed towards the cafeteria for dinner. Well, most of them.
"Hey Jaune, can we talk for a sec?" Ben asked the blonde team leader.
Um, sure?" Jaune followed Ben outside, in front of the statue in the courtyard. "So, what's up?"
"Jaune, we know your transcripts are forged." Ben bluntly said, quickly continuing when he saw the look of fear on the blonde's face. "You're not in trouble, though!"
"…I'm not?"
"Dad was impressed with his forging skills and would have recruited you no matter what happened." Ben smirked. "He's….he's got an eye for potential in ways a lot of people may not see right off the bat."
"Do you see that?" Jaune asked, letting Ben give him a look over. To his surprise =, Ben nodded.
"I know what you're thinking; 'I'm not a badass like the others, my sisters or my parents.' And maybe that's true at the moment. But dad sees something else; a kind and noble heart willing to work hard to get where he needs to, but afraid to ask help. I was kind of like that at first…as was your grandpa."
Jaune then finally realized WHO the statue was of; the King of Vale was actually a common misconception; it as Jamie Arc, the younger brother of Joan Arc and the first to side with the King, daring the other armies to attack the overwhelming powerful newcomer.
"Where is it?"
Jaune was pulled out of his musings when he saw Ben going over the statue, knocking on it and trying to push certain situations.
"I can never remember where that dumb…Oh right, there it is!...Sculptor was a weirdo. BOP!"
He pressed his hand onto the back of the statue's neck, and instantly the sounds of gearing turning filled the two boy's ears.
"What the?!" Jaune gasped as the feet of the statue spilt and opened akin to a door, revealing a flight of stairs that was suddenly lit up. "Um…how did you know about that and what's down there?"
"I grew up at Beacon." Ben beamed. "As for what's down there; a favor to Jaime….the Arc family Royal Arms, which I feel should be more up your alley, if you're interested."
The two boys, smiles on their faces, raced down the stairs.
TO BE CONTINUED….
Devil Dragon Stand Knight A/N:
There wasn't much for me to add in this chapter, just the framework for Mrotrax to work off of. However, next chapter will shake things up since Jaune will be getting more confidence and won't be bullied by Cardin this time around, we're just gonna jump straight to The Stray, where Ben falls in love with a certain android girl we all know and love.
Take it away, Mrotrax!
Mrotrax A/N:
Great work as usual, DDSK, apologies if some of your Author's Note was lost.
A nice and simple set up chapter, with some bro-bonding and funny bits.
While I'm certain I'm not the first to have done what we did to the statue here, I will admit it's a recycled concept from a story I had started a while ago. Basically, Croeca Mor is part of a set of special swords and Jaune has to go around Beacon to find them, assembling another team of his own and learning a darker truth about Remnant.
Enough of that old news; please read and review, would ye kindly?
Have a great one!
