chapter 2: you'll be protected

Hinata sighed, she was growing tired of the tension in the atmosphere that too in her hospital room. In her last two days of consciousness she went through life death situation twice, gravely injured herself to kami sama and back and had been keeping secrets just because of one man, Uchiha Sasuke. In the past years she always heard people saying orochimaru's inhumane bloodlust and how as his pupil Sasuke congregated the bloody greed for power. She was always skeptical of such accusations it made her cringe and want to puke. She was never the one to judge, no never on a few hours at least.

now she witnessed the uchiha fight and that too with her, she could stamp on paper stating Sasuke uchiha was a cynical and lunatic person who has no sense of kindness yet he was the only one who brought out a side of her she never thought existed within her. Normally she would stay away from such personalities but here she was getting unhealthy attached to the man who has right now glaring her.

On side of her was Neji, her father while sakura checking her up on other side. While the spotlight of her thoughts, the emo lunatic was on one corner of the room not caring about anything. True though he was only there because he was ordered to stay there untill rokudaime arrived.

Sternly enough along with the said persons Kiba and shino were outside of her room along with the hyuga guards waiting patiently for there chance to glare the ignorant person at the corner. The door slide open and rokudaime kakashi stood in the room now too. The hyuga head nodded at him while Neji bowed and sakura didn't care.

"Yo" He greeted them. How he could be so carefree yet so responsible was beyond her.

"Rokudaime sama" Hiashi greeted back.

"I heard you were attacked by rogue nins hinata. You won't mind lending me the details, right? "

"Hai rokudaime sama" She nodded and let her mind replay her memories before she answers.

Hinata was leaping from one tree to another, nervously chewing her inner lip. It was hardly dawn. The sun was no where in sight and she still had a few minutes before she reach the said location. She got discharged the other night but asked Sakura to let to keep her one more night. She promised her she would leave early morning. Sakura assumed it was because her body was too fatigue but no, it was because hinata hyuga knew it would prevent all the riffraff out about her early morning expedition.

She was not even sure the guy was coming or not, screw that she was not even sure why the in the world she was going. He asked more like ordered her to meet at the same place at 6. Her mind, the logical part was screaming at her to retreat but her damned feet was just too stubborn.

She might be a graceful hyuga but she was no idiot . She knew her adrenaline was kicking in after all this years. Being a hyuga that too reserved heiress where people only look at you to spot flaws and wait for you to trip on your face, she always had to place mannerisms above her hormones. If only she had her few brain cells loose just like her little sister she would have been a rebel. She always had to be ladylike and refined, for the sake of her clan and for the sake of her future husband. Yes as silly as it sounds she wanted to be the best for a wife. Her imaginations of the blonde as her husband was not just a flake. It was included in her 'to achieve' list.

Now after witnessing her heart break instead of crying like she always does she Rampaged. She did be damned if she ever said that it didn't feel good. It superior , strong and powerful. It felt adventurous. No one around to look at her with their over protective eyes, no one handling her like a fragile piece , it felt satisfied. She was craving for that. And for anyone she knew too well it was only one person who could give her that. The person who gave her that last night and made chills run through her body with just a slight movement.

That man was deadly, hell he even threatened to kill her. He was one of the most feared shinobi in the world right now. It wasn't for nothing. A wrong move and she is a dead meat. Her scars were a constant reminder to that point. But her scars were something she was proud of right now ,they may not be as prominent since her clan would make a fuss for nothing but it gave a surge through her body to do something bold and reckless. So she did. Not that she regretted anything but a small part of her wanted to note down her last wishes. What? Today can also be the last day for her. She halted at the sight of brutally destroyed patch of land, that she did. Yes she did.

And again came a shower of kunais. This time she was expecting it. Activating her kekkei genkai She dodged every one of them effortlessly. Her last kunai made her slide a couple of feets right when she realized someone was behind her. Her 360 vision allowed her to take a glance at those blood red patterned eyes and a shining sword. A sword huh? Now she was definitely at a disadvantage. Only thing she could do was dodge. Not to mention her chakra wasn't fully restored. It was hardly halfway.

"You're Early" He whispered between his fluid strikes.

"Waiting ready to attack me you're the one to talk" If not the critical role of dodging that sharp sword she could have roller her eyes.

"Hn" He smirked. This girl.

"How where you so sure that I was going to come? " Another strike and 3 tree barks were slashed down. She cannot even imagine her being there. Sure this IV things ache, damn it.

"The same way were so sure I was going to rain kunais"

"What does it mean? "

"Hn" He smirked again.

"Arigatou uchi-"

"Sasuke"

"Arigatou Sasuke San" Although she couldn't bow properly, since you know she was protective of her body parts getting minced . She also knew her stammering will be back soon if not the adrenaline.

"Never knew you will be thankful for burning your arm"

"I am thankful because you stopped my blood flow. The moment before you left me around the hospital the way you pressed my hand you made some of my nerves stop, didn't you? "

"I was about to kill you"

"I am shy , no idiot" She smiled at him while dodging another strike. Too late there was a cut on her bicep muscles. She frowned at her wound. What was she frowning at this is still Sasuke uchiha! Sakura did tell her she did good work blocking her nerves. But she knew better. She was rarely in the senses to remember her own name. At first she actually gave a lot of thought, the whole night to be precise. Here in this situation she couldn't help but agree completely to him. In all honesty if he wanted he could have killed her already. This was one reasons she was tempted to meet him. Intentional or not she was not going anywhere without thanking him.

"You're too naive"

"You're a comrade"

"I'm a heinous criminal who has killed thousands"

"You're still a comrade"

"I can kill you" She didn't reply anything back. What was she supposed to say anyway ? All this rush made her say those things, in a sane mindset she would never say such things not to him at least.

"It's unfair when you have a weapon" It really was. Her taijutsu and gentle fist would never work against that slender yet honed sword of Kusanagi. He can practically skin her alive by that that sharpness.

"I'm aware of gentle fist techniques"

"Your scared than? "

"You're cunning" He smirked still Sheathed his sword. She may not have noticed but she already had few cuts here and there. His keen senses even let him know that she was going to be out of chakra soon. Her gentle fist won't work effective in her current state anyways. The sword was to tease her and scare her anyways. Call him fussy but messing with this woman was something he wouldn't get over. Especially when she is bringing that hidden inner side of her . The side that always overpowered her general timid behavior.

"You still considered "

" you're almost out of chakra "

"You're underestimating me" She whispered another of something and two purple lions came in her palms. This time they weren't that large. They were flaking as well. She still wasn't healed properly. Her chakra control was wavering and she still has the guts to stand up to him.

"Some nerves you got there" He mumbled more to himself. Who could have thought the girl who kept fainting by just a sight of dobe could have had those nerves to stand straight against the Sasuke uchiha.

The sparring kept going on like that dodging, hitting ,dodging ,hitting , crashing a tree, hitting, coughing up some blood, hitting, dodging, hitting, getting your arm paralyzed and so on. After almost two hours and hyuga was heavily panting, not to mention was getting dizzier. With one more missed hit her knees gave in and she collapsed on the ground struggling for air.

"Get up" Sasuke ordered.

"You plan to send me back to hospital the day I got discharged? " She scowled lowly. Her voice no matter how much she wanted it to sound Intimidating it came out like a squeak. In a blink of an eye Sasuke placed his unsheathed sword mere centimeters apart from her neck junction.

"Hn"

"I can kill you"

"If you plan on killing me please let me know"

"Why? "

"Last prayers"

"No killer is going to alert you about it"

"Trust me when I say some come with a package of overconfidence and stupidity"

"When you don't stammer you are entertaining to hear"

"I could have blushed but too tired"

"Don't bother go ahead. After I make sure my lungs are working I'll go home too"

"I don't care about you" She simply rolled her eyes.

"Then go away" She was annoyed and the unladylike way she was laying on the ground half dead along with a heavily breathing chest his gaze was making her conscious. And to squirm under a man's gaze was the last thing she wanted to happen. She closed her eyes taking more deep breaths and concentrate her chakra on her legs. She couldn't feel any chakra anymore nor the honed edge of the lethal blade.

Before when she activated her byakugan to dodge the kunai shower she saw a waterfall somewhere around. All she needed right now was soothing water under her feet to regain her sanity. The man was making her so insane and she was too tired for her own good. Closing her eyes yet again and taking deeper breathes she felt herself gathering chakra around her body. A few minutes more... She chanted attempting to dump whatever chakra in her feet.

After a good half an hour she was satisfied with the amount of chakra she could gather. Hyugas do a lot of exercise on chakra reserves. So naturally she was a fast adapter. However for some reasons her chakra would vanish faster also. At first she assumed it was just a phase, now it is getting on her nerve. Nonetheless balancing her equilibrium she stood with shaky feets. She activated her dojutsu calculating the apparent direction she saw the waterfall. In this state she really didn't wanted to waste her chakra. Locating the area she started walking towards it turning off her dojutsu. She was a fast learner and directions were her forte. Albeit she was still wobbly and stumbled a few times but managed to reach the desired location. She gasped at the place at the scenery. She never realised something like this existed. By the steam around the place it was some kind of hot spring plus a waterfall . Without a second thought she tossed her shinobi sandals aside and folded her black plants. She dipped her feet sat down with a thud and relaxed at the gentle sound from around. Her head rested on her shoulder blades while her hands were sprawled backward. If she could she could have slept here all day. But then again she didn't wanted going home with 'shrimp legs' as neji niisan calls. She smiled and let mother nature do her thing.

Seven minutes barely seven minutes passed when she felt a sort of static force and her feet on cold stone rather than the warm water. Her butt was on cold stone as well instead of soft grass. Furrowing her brows she opened her eyes and gasped. She was on top of the cliff besides the waterfall. What the hell? Concentrating her chakra behind her eyes she activated her vision. When she glanced down at where she should be sitting there was a boulder with lot of kunais deflected around it. After a few moments around 15 masked people came out with weapons in their hands. She blinked once and the next thing she sees is a blur with a shiny huge blade , red eyes cutting their bodies in one swift move. Blood spilled all around the place and blood started flowing in the warm hot springs.

Her eyes widened in shock and out of complete reflex she stood and started stumbling her way to that location totally forgetting the fact that she was on the edge of a cliff for kami's sake. Stones around water are naturally very slippery, on top of that she was a klutz in such a dizzy situation. Her feet slipped and she felt helpless as gravity took complete control on her body and pulled her towards the earth core where she was positive she would crash with the huge wave force. 'Today was definitely a day kami sama picked out to kill me . If not Sasuke and kunais these damn rocks will' were her last thoughts when she felt a pair of strong arms around her shoulder and behind her knees lifting her up and shamelessly disobeying the law of gravity. Before she would react her previous dizziness and chakra exhaustion took over.

"Hinata sama rokudaime sama is waiting for your answer" Neji squeezed her hands bringing her out of the trance she was already in. She caught a quick glance at the person who was the best candidate to save her. He had his eyes closed and was silently tapping his fingers against his other elbow while leaning on the wall. She diverted her gaze to rokudaime whose eyes said he was concerned about her.

"G-gomen nasai rokudaime sama. I - I was dipping my feet in the hot springs around the konoha b-border when I felt myself getting replaced on place over t-the cliff of the w-waterfall. When I activated my byakugan I saw a lot of kunais around a huge stone Boulder . Upon a few moments around 15 people showed up and .. " She took a deep breath " .. There was a blur and the next moment I saw blood spilled from all of the dead bodies around. Out of instinct I unintentionally walked over the very edge of the cliff and -" She lowered her head in a attempt to avoid people seeing the growing blood rush in her cheeks from embarrassment "-i uh slipped" She whispered the last part. Not sure about the reaction when was going to get.

"Why were you there Hinata? I heard your discharge was today afternoon" Kakashi asked her. In no way she was going to tell people about her eagerness to go there. It was stealth and dishonesty but if these keeps their nose away from her business it was going to be worth it.

"Hai rokudaime sama. I j-just left before the d-dawn. I wanted some fresh air and was really stiff. S-so just a little warm up" Damn her and her stutter. She was already so embarrassed on top of that her lies. To her surprise the hokage nodded at her as if understanding what she can't say . She was really not prepared to answer the question what sort of fresh air she was going to get at konoha borders.

"Hinata that was very reckless and inattentive of you to not notice your surroundings. It was sheer luck that uchiha San was passing nearby and protected you from unnecessary grave injuries and slaughter. The next time I don't want to spot you without guards if you want to take some fresh air" Hiashi Commanded her daughter. Mentally hinata groaned and rolled her eyes. Seriously? This is what you tell to your daughter who just came in consciousness and that too from life death situations, twice. And what the hell is unnecessary slaughter? That man practically killed a 15 shinobi in a blink of a eye. And here she was designated at unnecessary slaughter. But holding up her thought outside she simply nodded.

"Hai otou San"

"Uchiha san, you have my regards and gratitude for what you did for my daughter. I may never be able to repay it. However I do owe you so please do not hesitate if you ever want something from me" Hiashi hyuga addressed the said man. In return he turned towards them nodded.

"Someday" He replied without any emotions. A debt for themighty hyuga clan head huh? Not bad.

"Arigatou sasuke i cannot even imagine what would have

Happened if you were not to be present. Even I owe you to save hinata sama's life" Neji gave his acknowledgement to him. Hinata simply gasped. Neji never liked sasuke. It was always rivalry. And not naruto sasuke kind. It was prodigy vs prodigy kind.

"Hn"

"Sasuke what we're you doing there in the first place? " The rokudaime asked. There was a glint of mischief there and sasuke could tell he was teasing him.

"Trespassing" He glared at his former sensei.

"Alright. How about you come with me to the hokage's office. I want to know about the said attackers"

"Hn" And with that he excused himself from the room followed by the hokage who gave his well wishes to Hinata and addressed the other hyugas.

Few minutes and they were inside hokages chamber. Kakashi was sitting on his chair eyeing the emotionless person in front of him.

"Who were they sasuke? "

"Rogues. "

"Any idea what they wanted from the hyuga princess ? "

"Byakugan"

"Why? "

"Black market" Kakashi sighed.

"Even though we are at peace black market terror never ceases to amaze me. This time I have to thank you sasuke If anything would have to her Hiashi would caused a rebellious uproar"

"Hn"

"She isn't safe is she? "

"No. They were just a branch. "

"Explain"

"They were simply following orders. They were told to catch her and paralyze. "

"I'll assign Anbu for investigation. Say sasuke I want you to assign a mission"

"Hn"

"Be a bodyguard to Hyuga heiress. If something like this happens again only you can protect her with the exceptionall ability of rinnegan. "

"Suit yourself Kakashi"

"Hey let's not be hard headed. Besides in away I'm helping you"

"That is none of your concern"

"The whole village is my concern"

"Shove that concern up your ass Kakashi. If anything you should be concerned how 15 rogues went through barrier without suspicion"

"Alright I get it. I'll assume you take the mission? "

"No"

"It's your catch sasuke. I am giving you a chance to win the trust of the mightiest clan in konoha. I'm well aware of your rather complicated demands from them. You want the hokage to back you up don't you? "

"And I always wondered how you ended up in politics"

"I'll take it as a compliment"

"Hn"

"Now now why don't you take a seat untill Hiashi hyuga arrives. "

"Hn" He frowned but still took a seat.

A few minutes later there was another Knock. Sasuke sighed.

"Come in" Much to his annoyance came in Haruno sakura. All he wanted was to wrap up this stuff. Now the loud mouth violent women will just make it worse.

"Kakashi sensei you... Sasuke kun! " There it was. He could have been just fine with the squeal but the moment she battered her lashes his opinion changed.

"Hn"

"What are you doing here Sasuke kun? "

"None of your business"

"Cmon Sasuke kun we have been close friends since forever" He grimaced at her tone. She was already with someone for goodness sake.

"Ahem sakura I summoned you"

"Eh? Ah right. Gomen. I was in a surgery while you asked for me"

"Don't worry about it. Now tell me about hinata's health? "

"Two days before she came with her burnt and bleeding arm with completely exhausted chakra. I healed her but the wounds was too deep. She still has slight scars on her left hand. I asked if I can heal that too, but denied and she is well she is very sensitive about that. I wonder why? Anyways today when Sasuke kun brought her other than chakra exhaustion she had so many cuts on her arms it'd say sword slashs. But very precise, like if they wanted they could have cut her arm off but very carefully only cuts where there. Other than that she has severe dehydration. No wander she keeps fainting like that. "

"I see. You have quite a insight there. Thank you Sakura. You're dismissed. "

"Hai. I'll be leaving then. See you later Sasuke kun"

"Hn" Sakura turned away and walked through the door. After a few moments Kakashi smirked.

"You heard that Sasuke? Very precise sword wielder. I wonder who it might be" Sasuke frowned at the hokage. Only thinking about how trouble can he be if he strangles that man!
