Trigger Warning: Talks about Suicide. I will mark the spot in this chapter that talks about Suicide. If this is a topic that you are sensitive to please skip over that part. Thank you.
"So, let me get this straight. We have to go to each of your siblings and get a vial of their blood to perform the unlinking spell?" I asked for clarification. I turned my head to look at Nik who was driving.
Nik had showed up this morning, told me to pack and that we were going on a road trip. I didn't have much of a choice in the matter anyway. Now we were on the road in his car, heading to two different states: New York and Ohio.
The only sounds currently was the engine, the music on the radio, and the two of us talking.
"Technically all of my siblings except for one." Nik corrected, and motioned his point by holding up one finger.
"Finn." I answered and gave a sigh, "Something tells me he's going to be hard to track down. Locator spell?" I asked, pursing my lips.
"That was my first thought. Unfortunately, my big brother left in such a hurry that he didn't leave us much to use for a locator spell, much less a postcard of his destination." Nik glanced at me with a smirk on his face.
"Smart ass." I chided and reclined the passenger seat back to lay back more.
"Just a friendly reminder, love, you happen to love my smart ass. And other parts." I rolled my eyes.
"We're in the middle of driving up whatever interstate to Ohio to get Elijah's blood and you're thinking about sex at this moment?"
"To be fair, it's always in my mind when it comes to you, love."
"Oof, talk about sappy. Doesn't work for you too much." I earned a chuckle from Nik with that one.
A comfortable silence fell between us as Nik drove. I turned my head to the window and watched trees fly by. My thoughts started to go through my mind. Hopefully, we find Finn and somehow get his blood. Then, we need to get a witch to even do the spell. But then what? How many more times are Damon and Stefan going to attempt to take out Nik? It's almost never ending and it's exhausting.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Nik's voice snapped me out of my thinking.
"Uh...just thinking about what's going to happen after you get unlinked. That's not going to stop Damon and Stefan. Especially Stefan who is currently making you his primary focus for all of his anger, hatred, frustration, hurt, and loneliness. He's not going to stop." I informed Nik.
"It's better he focuses on me than himself." I furrowed my brows and gave Nik a quizzical look.
"You and I both know how self-destructive Stefan is. All of those negative emotions he's feeling is because of losing Elena to his brother. He won't take it out on his brother because it would hurt Elena, he can't take it out on himself because he knows he'll go on another Ripper binge. I'm the only logical option left. He needs a target to get this out of his system, and as his friend I'm willing to be that target." I didn't think of it that way. Stefan needed to vent and this is how he's doing it. He's hurting.
"So….how much longer before reaching Ohio?" I asked, changing the subject.
"It's only been an hour, love. Six more hours to go." I let out a groan.
"I'm gonna take a nap. Wake me up if you want to switch or we make it to Ohio." I said as I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. I felt Nik place his hand on my knee and used his thumb to rub over my kneecap. I moved my hand down to Nik's and placed it on top of his. I felt his hand rotate so the palm of his hand was now against my palm. He interlocked our fingers and squeezed my hand gently. The sound of the engine and the car being in motion made it quick to fall asleep.
I walked into the library of Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Students were quietly studying at tables, some on computers, and some standing between isles. I walked quietly down the library as I scanned the area. Nik and I split up to find Elijah. Franklin University was huge. Why Elijah is here is a mystery to me.
My eyes caught a woman walking out from behind a bookshelf. I narrowed my eyes as I saw her quickly brush through her hair and check her make-up in the mirror. I listened to her heart beat and it was racing. I raised an eyebrow. Someone just finished a make out session.
I headed to where the woman came from. I stepped behind the bookshelf and smirked seeing Elijah standing there.
"She was cute." I commented, the smirk still on my face as I leaned against the bookshelf, "No wonder I couldn't track you by scent. You changed your cologne."
Elijah let out a smile, "Allye, to what do I owe the pleasure?" I pushed off the bookshelf and walked closer to Elijah.
I reached in my jacket pocket and pulled out a glass vial. "We need your blood." I said and shook the glass vial in front of me.
Elijah gave me a quizzical look, "We?" He asked.
"You didn't think she'd come alone now did you, brother?" Elijah turned around to see Nik grinning at him.
"Niklaus," Elijah started, fully facing him, "What do you want?"
"I believe Allye already answered that, brother." Nik quipped
"We need it to unlink the linking spell Esther placed on you all." I answered for Elijah.
I held up the glass vial to him to take. Elijah took it from my hand and uncuffed his sleeve. He pulled it down as far as it would go and bit into his wrist. He held his bleeding wrist over the vial. By the time the wound healed, the vial was full. Elijah handed it back to me. I took the cork from my pocket and sealed it tight.
Elijah gave me a smile as he pulled down his sleeve, "Lovely to see you again, Allye." I watched as he strode past me.
"Ouch, he didn't even say bye to you." Nik rolled his eyes.
"He's been in a mood ever since Esther talked to him. It'll pass eventually. Come on then, love. New York is next."
I let out a groan, "Yay, another eight hour drive. Can we please take a plane back to Mystic Falls after this? Compel someone else to bring your car back?" I pleaded.
Nik chuckled and took my hand as we walked, "Of course, love. I can arrange that." He said and pulled my hand up and kissed the back of it.
"Why is Kol easier to track than your other brothers?" I asked as Nik and I walked along the sidewalks of New York City.
"If there is one thing my little brother is good at, is leaving a trail of bodies. Keep your ears out for any screams and your nose to the smell of blood." Nik advised.
"Well the sun's almost down. Does he get more active at night?" Nik grinned and went to answer me but his phone interrupted him.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and I caught a glimpse of it reading "Rebekah".
"Rebekah, I hope you have good news?" Nik asked.
"Yes, I found the remaining white oak and it is currently burning with Damon Salvatore helplessly watching." Of course Damon knew where the white oak was at.
"Nicely done, sister. We're in New York now, tracking down Kol. I'll have to figure out a way to track down Finn next."
"About that, Nik. I'm working on that bit." I gave a confused look to Nik, who shared the same look.
"What do you mean?" He asked bluntly.
"I mean, I ran into a certain red haired Vampire that our older brother was obsessed with 900 years ago." A smirk broke out on Nik's face.
"Sage." He answered.
"She knows a witch that will do a locator spell. I'll text you when we get a location." With that, Rebekah hung up her line.
"Who's Sage?" I asked, confused.
"She was a brothel worker 900 years ago, and Finn fell in love with her. So much that he turned her. The only Vampire he ever turned." Nik answered as he put his phone away.
I went to say something when I heard a very distant scream in my ear, "I think Kol's at it." I remarked.
"Well, at least Finn didn't go very far. DC. Who would have thought?" I said as Nik and I stood by a fountain waiting for Rebekah to show up.
Nik and I found Kol after he made his way through a sorority. Rebekah called us shortly after that and told us Finn was in DC. Nik kept his promise and flew us back to Virginia instead of driving. Feel bad for that cab driver that is currently making the very long drive back to Mystic Falls with Nik's car.
"If I had to guess, our dear mother probably told him to not go far." Nik guessed.
"Well, I see you two at least showered. You don't smell like road trip." I rolled my eyes and turned to see Rebekah giving us a tight smile.
"Ha, ha. Did you bring something I can track with?" I asked, getting to the point.
The locator spell could only get us so far. We knew the city Finn was in but now we needed to pinpoint him. Lucky for us, Sage kept a keepsake of Finn after all these years.
"You're no fun." Rebekah said and pulled out a piece of old cloth.
"I've been on the road for way too long. I want to sleep in my own bed tonight. Sue me." I bit back and grabbed the old cloth out of Rebekah's hand.
My nostrils flared as I took in the scent, "It's pretty weak but I think I can manage. What's the plan after we find him?" I asked and stuffed the cloth into my jeans pocket.
"Easy, lure him into a trap. I'll do all the talking." Nik said, giving a sly smile.
"Lead the way, wolf girl." I gave Rebekah a look who in turn just smirked at me.
I closed my eyes and focused on the smells around me. If I could describe it, it would be like seeing a bunch of different colors and needing to find the one I want and track it. There. Found it.
I opened my eyes and started to walk off in a direction with Nik and Rebekah behind me.
"How come you've never been able to track like this, Nik?" I heard Rebekah asked curiously.
"Well if you remember, sister. I had a curse placed on me that sealed away my Werewolf half for over a thousand years." I heard Nik remark with a sarcastic tone in his voice.
"Oh no, I was talking about now." I could practically feel the smirk on Rebekah's face right now.
"Because he was never trained how to be a Werewolf since he was young." I answered as I stopped and turned to look at them.
I then pointed my finger across the street, "I'll be damned. There he is." Rebekah said in amazement, looking right at Finn walking along.
"I learned to never doubt her nose over the summer, sister." Nik said with a smirk and hurried across the street.
"Well, you've done your part. We'll meet you back at Mystic Falls. I'll compel you a ride." Before Rebekah could raise her hand up, I grabbed her wrist.
"Mystic Falls is only forty minutes away from here. I need to stretch my legs a bit." Rebekah raised an eyebrow at me.
"You're going to walk?" I let out a smirk.
"I am a wolf. I'm going to run. I'll see you back in Mystic Falls." I turned around and walked towards the direction out of the city.
I walked up the steps of Nik's mansion and opened the front door. I had just arrived back in Mystic Falls. Nik sent me a text that they were back on their way with Finn.
I stopped just after the doorway to see a grand piano at the staircase that was not there when I was here last time.
"Who the hell are you?" I heard a voice above me.
I looked up to see a woman with short curly red hair and blue eyes standing at the top of the stairs.
"You're Sage, I take it? Allye Hale." I introduced myself.
"Oh my god. You're the wolf that Rebekah told me about. The one that mated with Klaus." She said as she walked down the stairs.
"You're...different than I expected." I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Thanks? I guess?" I said unsure. Sage gave a light laugh and studied me and walked around me.
"No offense, it's just I was expecting you to be more...weak willed. But you radiate power off of you." She stopped right in front of me after circling me.
I gave an amused chuckle, "And why did you think that?" I said as I crossed my arms.
"Because Klaus is a control freak and he controls the ones around him. Like Finn when he refused to undagger him for 900 years." Sage said with venom in her tone.
"Speaking of which. The "control freak" as you labeled my mate and Rebekah should be here any minute with Finn in tow. Why don't you powder your nose a little more?" I said with a sickly sweet voice.
Sage gave me a coy smirk, "Damaged goods. That's why he likes you so much. Let me guess, daddy issues?"
"This coming from a whore that had sex for a living during the 11th century. What happened? Daddy sold his girl for some money?" I caught Sage's hand that tried to go for my throat. I let my eyes glow red and dug my claws into Sage's hand. She winced at the pain.
"I'm not your average Werewolf, Sage. I can shift at will. Don't make me rip your pretty little red head off before Finn has the chance to see you alive." I let go of her hand. The two of us had a glaring contest until the doors were forced open and Finn slid against the floor.
"Why force brother, when I could persuade you?" I heard Nik say and he and Rebekah walked underneath the door frame.
"Finn." Finn looked up hearing his name. I heard his heart rate increase.
"Sage." He scrambled up to his feet and embraced her in a hug.
"What do you know, true love prevails." Rebekah said sarcastically. Nik's phone went off. He took it out of his pocket, read the message then used the stylist to write back.
"I just met Sage, and I don't particularly like her." I stated as I walked over to Nik and Rebekah.
"Join the club." Rebekah said smiling then turned to Nik, "I have something to do. What do you need from me for this spell?"
"Just your blood and your blessing. Where are you going?" He asked curiously.
"I have some unfinished business with Damon Salvatore. Ask Sage what he did to me. Then you'll understand why retribution is in order. I'll leave my blood in a glass vial for you." I looked at Nik after Rebekah left.
"What did we miss?" Nik shrugged and kept his eyes on Finn and Sage.
"I need to go collect the Witch. If you wouldn't mind getting Finn's blood while I'm gone."
I nodded, "I got it covered." Nik smiled and gave me a kiss before walking back out the door. I watched him walk back to the car with a smile on my face.
"I could throw up right now." My face deadpanned hearing Sage.
"The sooner I get the blood from Finn, the sooner you two can go off to the sunset together." I said with a tight lip smile. I grabbed the last vial in my jacket pocket and threw it at Finn, who caught it with ease.
Finn bit into his wrist and let the blood fall into the vial. Once it was full he held it out for me. I walked up and grabbed it from him. I looked between him and Sage.
"Enjoy your catching up." I said and corked the glass vial before walking off.
I was waiting in the study for Nik to get back with the Witch he was fetching. Finn and Sage left about 15-20 minutes ago and Rebekah was somewhere to enact her revenge plan against Damon.
I heard the sound of the front door open and close.
"Now, the sooner you unlink us the sooner you can leave." I heard Nik say from the other side of the wall.
"I don't even know where to begin on how to do the unlinking spell." Bonnie. Of course that's the witch he brought.
"Well, it's a good thing I have my mother's grimoire for you to study up on." I heard the footsteps get closer.
I saw Bonnie walk in first. She looked around and stopped when her eyes saw me at the desk with my feet propped up.
"Allye?" She asked, confused.
"Ah, this is where you went." Nik said, smiling.
"I didn't know you were talking about Bonnie being the witch." I said as I looked at Bonnie.
"Well seeing as it was her witch bloodline that linked us in the first place, she can also unlink us." Nik explained and then turned to Bonnie.
"The grimoire is on the table. Get to studying." Nik gestured at the glass coffee table in front of the chaise.
Bonnie gave me one last look and headed over to the chaise. Nik walked over to me and leaned against the desk, looking at me.
"You're in a mood." He stated the obvious.
"You can thank Sage for that." I said with a fake smile.
I heard the sound of the front door open but didn't close. I scrunch my eyebrows as I listened to Rebekah doing something outside.
"Any idea what Rebekah is up to?" I asked, pursing my lips and pointing outside the room.
Nik simply shrugged and turned his head over his shoulder to glance at Bonnie. She had her head down looking at the grimoire. I took my feet off the table and leaned forward.
"How did you get Bonnie here?" I whispered low enough so Bonnie couldn't eavesdrop.
Nik lowered his head, "No need to worry, love. Some empty threats and an insurance for motivation for the young Bennett witch." He said.
"Insurance?" I asked, confused.
"I have Kol watching the young Gilbert," I gave Nik a look and he held up his hand, "Before you get mad, I told Kol he is not to harm Jeremy. This is purely for motivation for Bonnie if she stalls or refuses to cast the unlinking spell. I am keeping my word with you." Nik assured and put his hand on top of mine. His thumb drawing circles on the top of my hand.
The sound of muffled shouting in pain came from the next room. Bonnie looked at the wall with confused and frightened eyes.
"Um?" I said confused.
"I'll go see what that was." Nik said as he got up, "Start chanting." Nik said to Bonnie as he walked passed her.
I heard the door open then close. "So, it's true." I looked over at Bonnie. She gave me this look that had disgust on her face.
"Elena and Caroline told me that you mated on Klaus and now you're on their side." Bonnie's tone was laced with venom.
"Sides?" I scoffed and stood up, "You sound like Elena now. It's not as black and white as you think. All of you are trying to kill the one I love. I'm trying to stop it so that doesn't happen. I told Caroline this the other night. Put yourself in my shoes. If someone was going to actively kill Jeremy, what would you do? Stand by your friends and watch him die? Or do everything in your power to stop it?" I spat out as my eyes glowed red.
Bonnie said nothing and tightened her lips together. She hung her head and continue to read the grimoire.
"That's what I thought." I said bitterly. I could feel the guilt coming off of her now. Good.
I heard the door open again and Nik walked back in, "I should be hearing chanting by now." He said and stared at Bonnie. Annoyance written on his face.
"I'm still studying the unlinking spell. It's not that easy, especially under duress." Bonnie exclaimed, looking at Nik then eyed at me.
"You've been warned. If you're looking for a way to send for help, I will kill anyone who comes to your rescue." Nik threatened.
"This is the spell. I just don't know if I'm strong enough." I heard her heart beat spike. She lied.
"Nik." I spoke up and walked over to them. Nik turned his head and looked at me expectantly.
"Let me talk to her. Alone." I said as I gave Nik a look.
"Very well." Nik said after a brief look into my eyes. He turned around and walked out the door.
"You lied." I stated as I stared at Bonnie, "You and I both know you're powerful enough to do it. I've seen you do spells much more powerful and complicated than any linking or unlinking spell." Bonnie folded her arms and stared at me.
"He threatened my mom, Allye. I'm trying to do what you said, but I'm still having a hard time understanding this." I shook my head.
"I can't explain mating to a non-wolf. It's far too complicated for you to comprehend. What I can compare it to is what you humans call true love. Do you know how that feels?" I asked.
Bonnie unfolded her arms and after a brief silence she answered, "No. I love Jeremy but I don't know if I'd call it true love."
I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, "Look, Bonnie. I'm not saying you have to understand my feelings for Nik but they are there. And they are very real. I'm just asking that you understand why I can't let you and the others kill Nik. If that'd happen I would spiral, Bonnie." Bonnie gave me a look of confusion.
"What do you mean?" Bonnie asked, confused.
"I will turn and I will kill anything and anyone in sight. It doesn't matter if they're innocent or not. The wolf inside me will have full control and my humanity will be gone. That's what happened when Laura died. Derek had to keep me chained up for weeks before he could calm me down." Bonnie placed her hand over her mouth in terror.
"How many people did you kill?" She whispered after removing her hand.
"I stumbled upon a bunch of prisoners that were doing community service by picking up trash at a park. There were ten prisoners and five armed prison guards. Blood and body parts were everywhere. Derek found me after following the blood trail I left. I was covered in blood, Bonnie, and none of it was my own. If Derek hadn't found me that day, I would have kept going until a hunter killed me. That's what will happen to Mystic Falls if you kill Nik..But I'm stronger than I was a year ago." I took a step closer to Bonnie, who took a step back herself, "I would be spilling a lot more blood and I wouldn't know what I was doing. You would have to kill me to stop me. Understand now?" Bonnie slowly nodded and wiped away a tear that fell down her cheek.
"I'll do the spell." She said, determination now in her voice.
"Nik!" I yelled out. Seconds later the door opened and Nik walked in with a black case.
He unzipped it and showed the four vials of blood that we had gotten earlier from Finn, Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah. I grabbed an empty scotch glass from the coffee table and held it for Nik to take. He gave the case to my other hand. His free hand gripped the glass. I tried to take my hand away but he squeezed, stopping me from doing so. I looked at him and he had a look I couldn't distinguish. He eavesdropped, he heard everything I told Bonnie.
He slowly loosened his grip and without a word he bit into his hand and held it over the scotch glass. The wound healed and he gave me back the glass.
I walked over to Bonnie and set down the case and the glass filled with blood.
"Every Originals blood is here. Finn, Elijah, Kol, Rebekah, and Nik's." Bonnie nodded and grabbed the vials out of the case.
She began to chant. As she chanted she poured each vial one by one into the cup in front of her. She then grabbed the cup and poured the blood onto the table. As she chanted the fire from the candles burned harder and wind entered the room. Nik and I watched as the one puddle of blood slowly began to separate into five separate pools. Light began to flicker as the five pools got bigger.
Then, everything stopped and went back to normal. The five pools were separated. "There. You're unlinked." Bonnie said.
"We'll show you out." I said with my voice void of any emotion.
The three of us silently walked out and headed for the front door. We stopped as Rebekah walked over to us. She had a rag with blood stains and she was wiping her hands with it. Now I'm noticing the smell of blood and a lot of it. I didn't even realize it. I'm really in a funk.
"Aw, leaving so soon?" Rebekah mocked, looking at Bonnie.
"Sister. Be nice." Nik scolded.
"Thank you, Bonnie. See you in physics class." Rebekah walked away and revealed Damon in the next room. Both wrists had snares on them. A plastic tarp was on the floor and blood was everywhere.
"What the hell?" I asked in confusion. Bonnie looked at me in shock.
"You didn't know about this?" She asked in disbelief.
"No, Allye had nothing to do with this. I needed to get back at Damon for what he did. Although, he is your ex." Rebekah walked over to me and smiled.
"You can have your turn, Allye. I know he broke your heart." Rebekah stated and then looked back at Damon. I looked at Damon and he tiredly made eye contact with me.
I clenched my jaw and my eyes darted back to Rebekah, "That was a whole summer ago. I've already vented. It's in the past and I'm over it and over him." I took a step back, "I don't care about him anymore. Do whatever the hell you want." I said with venom lacing my voice. I turned around and ignored the stares at my back as I headed to where Nik's art studio is.
I was currently laying on the chaise in Nik's art studio. I had my arm draped over my eyes. What Sage said got to me more than I thought it did. Then the whole thing with Damon and Rebekah happened.
"Love?" I heard Nik's voice, breaking me out of my thoughts.
I removed my arm from my eyes and stared at Nik. He was standing under the archway with a bottle of bourbon in one hand and two glasses in the other.
"Sorry. I'm kind of in a funk right now." I murmured and sat up.
"I can see that. Hence why I brought this." He said and held up the bourbon and glasses.
I patted the spot next to me, inviting him over. He walked over and sat on the chaise next to me. He gave me a glass then opened the bourbon.
"Do you want to tell me why you've been in this…"funk"?" He asked as he poured bourbon into my glass.
"What Sage said to me...it hit me harder than I thought." I said and stared at the bourbon in my glass.
"What did she tell you?" Nik asked, anger hidden in his voice.
TRIGGER WARNING
I took a deep breath, "That I'm damaged goods and that's why you like me. She isn't wrong about the damaged goods part. I am. I know you heard what I told Bonnie. My life so far has been filled with tragedy, pain, and death. It was so bad that I tried to end things three years ago in Chicago. That's the part of me I left behind. I wanted to end the pain. I drank wolfsbane that day so my powers wouldn't trigger. I found the tallest building I could and before I could jump. Laura and Derek showed up and stopped me. I remember the terrified look on their faces. It was the wake up call I needed. I couldn't leave Laura and Derek by themselves." I turned my head to Nik. He remained impassive and was just staring in front of him with a blank look.
END OF TOPIC
He set down the bourbon and his glass and got up without a word.
"Nik?" I called out in concern.
Nik didn't answer. He grabbed a sketch book that was sitting on a table. He picked it up and slowly walked back over to me.
"You are not damaged goods. You've had a harder life than most other nineteen year olds. But it's made you who you are. You're strong, resilient, proud, and your biggest trait I noticed when I first met you: loyalty. I've always admired that." He stopped walking right in front of me and held the sketch book out for me to take.
I set the glass down and took the sketch book out of Nik's hand. I flipped through the pages one by one. Every page had sketches of me during life moments through Mystic Falls. First, being a portrait of me with being in my partial shift form. Then, what I looked like at the 60's Decade Dance. Finally, a sketch of me against a boulder with the bottle of Jack Daniels in my hand.
"These are all me at different points in my life here in Mystic Falls." I said and looked back up to Nik.
Nik nodded and took his seat next to me again, "All three have something in common." He hinted.
I stared at the sketches with a puzzled look on my face. Then it dawned on me. "This is before the Sun and Moon Ritual happened. Before your Werewolf side became unlocked."
"I liked you before the ritual took place. After the ritual was complete and I turned for the first time in a thousand years; I smelled a scent so strong that instinct drove me to follow it. Now I know that was your scent and it led me straight to you. I felt and still feel a connection to you that I have never felt before with anyone else." I couldn't help but smile and lean my head on his shoulder.
I felt him move his arm and wrapped it around my shoulder and I laid my head on his chest instead.
"I felt something that night too. I was more confused than anything. Especially when Elijah showed up and said the wolf was you. Though I was in denial for the entire summer. Remember Florida?" I asked and looked up at him.
"I do." Nik recalled.
"Stefan and I got separated from you after chasing down the runaway Hybrid. We didn't have cell phone reception so we couldn't call. I found your scent and led us back. Only it was brought to my attention later that we had been fifteen miles away from you. It's impossible for a trained tracking dog and even a Werewolf to track that far. Werewolf Mates on the other hand, you can always tell where they are." I hear Nik let out a grunt.
"What?" I asked laughing slightly.
"I hate to admit it, but Rebekah's right. I need to learn how to track. I could have found you when Stefan took you hostage."
"Lucky for you, I've been told I'm a pretty good teacher for wolves." I said smiling. Nik returned the smile and we leaned towards each other for a kiss.
"Klaus, I'm here! Let's do this!" We stopped hearing Stefan's voice.
"What now?" Nik growled out. He abruptly stood up and walked out of the studio.
I followed behind Nik and Rebekah used her vamp speed to come down the stairs.
Stefan stood in the room that Damon was currently chained to. He had a duffel bag hanging on his shoulder.
"Oh good, a hero. What do you want?" Nik asked warily.
Stefan threw the duffel bag at our feet and showed white stakes in them.
"I'm here to make a deal." Stefan offered.
"Stefan, what are you doing?" Damon asked weakly.
"Eight stakes made of white oak. The part of Wickery Bridge that you forgot to burn." Both Nik and I looked at Rebekah who looked at a loss for words.
"That's impossible." She said, shaking her head.
"Actually, it's not. Finn's dead." Oh my god. Bonnie must have done the unlinking spell just in time. I could see Nik clench his jaw and I could feel hurt and anger coming from both Nik and Rebekah.
"You killed my brother?" Rebekah asked in disbelief.
Stefan looked at Klaus, "Damon in exchange for the last eight weapons that can kill you." I heard the oh too familiar sound of Stefan's heart beat spike.
I let out a snarl and grabbed the collar of Stefan's shirt, "Liar! You should know better to lie right in front of me, Stefan!" I growled out.
"Stupid move, brother." I heard Damon say.
"How many are there really, Stefan?" Nik asked dangerously.
Stefan remained quiet before answering, "I'm not telling you." I looked back at Nik who was seething at this point.
"Very well." Nik walked over to Damon and looked into his eyes, "Leave." Nik compelled.
"No." Damon refused.
"Nik, he's my plaything not yours." Rebekah whined. I shot her a look, telling her this is not the time. Rebekah put her hands up in defense.
Nik grabbed Damon by his throat, forcing him to look at Nik. "I said, go home." This time the compulsion worked. Damon's screams in pain echoed in the room as he started to pull a wrist out from the snare.
"Alright, stop, stop, stop, before you hurt yourself." Nik said amused at seeing Damon's pain.
"Well, seeing that he can finally be compelled. Now," Nik grabbed Damon by his throat again, "Minus the stake that's in my brother, how many stakes are out there that can kill me?"
"Eleven." Damon answered.
I growled dangerously at Stefan, already partially shifted as I glowered at him.
"Eleven! Was that so hard to tell us, Stefan?" Nik said, glaring at Stefan.
"I'll get you the other three." Stefan finally agreed.
"Yeah, that'll be nice. Or since you lied, maybe I'll just compel your brother to chew out his own tongue." Nik threatened.
"What is wrong with you?" Stefan went to move but I let out a growl and held him in place.
"What is wrong with you?! Do you really have no appreciation for me? I have given you someone to hate, to loathe, a target for all of your anger; so you don't have to turn it on yourself. I have given your life purpose, as your friend." Nik laughed and continued, "I really think you should be thanking me."
I felt Stefan move and I suddenly felt a stabbing pain. I looked down to see a white oak stake embedded into my upper abdomen. Just below my heart. In a quick motion I used my other hand to grip Stefan's shoulder and brought him down enough that my fangs made contact with his neck. Stefan wailed in pain as he let go of the stake and I threw him off me.
"You missed." I stated matter of factly and pulled the stake out of my abdomen.
I could feel my wound already healing and look at Nik who had fear and horror etched on his face. "Make that two stakes to get." I remarked and threw the blood stained stake into the duffle bag.
"You're lucky my bite doesn't have any venom. I would tell Nik not to heal you." I said and spat Stefan's blood out of my mouth.
"This is ridiculous." Rebekah said and walked over to Damon. She released the snares and Damon fell onto his knees.
"What are you doing?" Nik asked.
"Stefan just tried to kill Allye. I'm not taking any more chances. I brought Damon here. I get to release him. My rules now. Bring us the stakes and you both live. Take your brother as a sign of good faith." Rebekah picked up the duffle bag and walked by me. She grabbed me by my forearm and practically started to drag me.
"We need to clean you up." Was the only thing Rebekah say as she led me to the direction of the downstairs bathroom.
"I can't believe Stefan was stupid enough to try that in front of me and Nik." Rebekah said in disbelief. She set down a new shirt for me on the bathroom counter.
I was currently shirtless with only my bra and was using a rag to wipe away my blood off my abdomen.
"He was angry, he makes mistakes when he's like that. Trust me, I know. Had a whole summer to get to know him." I remarked and re-soaked the rag with warm water.
"I just spoke to Nik before coming back in here." Rebekah mentioned and jumped up on the counter to sit.
"And?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well he's not very hurt about Finn's death for starters." Rebekah said in frustration.
"Nik told me he was never really that close with Finn to begin with." I commented as I focused on wiping off the remaining blood off my abdomen.
"He's still his brother." Rebekah retorted.
"Everyone grieves differently, Bekah." I said with a sigh. I finally finished wiping the blood off. I took the dry hand towel and dried off the water on my abdomen.
"He also said he wants to take you out of Mystic Falls after we get the stakes back." I furrowed my brows and looked up at Rebekah.
"Why?" Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"Because you almost died tonight, Allye. Stefan was aiming for your heart but he missed. It scared the hell out of Nik. He's also going to want to talk to you after you're done here." I let out a sigh and turned on the warm water.
I used my hand to wipe away the blood around my mouth. I turned off the water after the blood was gone. I dried off my mouth and threw both the towel and the rag into the laundry bin. I grabbed the new shirt and put it over my head.
"Wish me luck, I guess." I told Rebekah as I opened the bathroom door.
As I left the bathroom, I could hear fire crackle. I headed in the direction of the study. I walked into the study to see Nik standing in front of the fireplace, watching the fire.
"Are you all right, love?" I heard Nik say. He kept his back to me.
"I'm fine. Alpha healing powers help." I said joking lightly.
"This is no time for jokes, Allye. You could have died tonight." Nik stated matter of fact.
"But I didn't." I retorted.
"But you could have!" Nik yelled and turned around. I could both see and feel the anger and fear coming from him.
"I could have lost you tonight, Allye." He said in a softer tone, "You told Bonnie today you would spiral if you lost me. It's the same for me. If I lost you, I would flip my switch." My breath got caught in my throat. I'm stupid for not even thinking of how Nik would feel.
"I can't let something like that happen again." Nik said, shaking his head.
"I know. Rebekah told me we're leaving after you get the stakes back." I furrowed my brows as I saw Nik tighten his jaw.
"Unless there's something else. What is it, Nik?" I pressed, wanting to know.
"It's something I want you to think about." Nik started.
He looked me in the eyes with a serious look, "I want to turn you into a Hybrid."
Oh snap, I think we all knew the talk about becoming immortal was going to eventually come up. Allye had a brush with death and it scared Klaus more than it did Allye. The chapter is pretty long since I combined 3 episodes into one. The next chapter is going to be the same thing This is mainly due to Klaus did not have that much screen time for those episodes and would make the chapters way too short. We'll see what Allye's response is in the next chapter. Take care everyone. :)
