The drive back to the apartment was silent and awkward. Leah dragged Hodie into the shower with her, needing to wash the lingering vampire and alcohol scents from the both of them. She had calmed a great deal by the time they crawled into his bed and stayed far more at ease if they continued touching in some form. The need for physical touch was a part of the imprinting that Leah remembered the others describing all too well. The other wolves experienced aches and discomfort when away from their mate for long, especially when stressed or overwhelmed. If only his presence could keep away the memories that plagued her dreams as of late. The current situation with Quil worried her about which memories would be brought to light as she slept. Leah dreaded the guilt that would follow when she woke and wondered what kind of warning they were trying to convey. Leah could feel the anger Hodie had barely held back, despite his silence. He was pissed at Quil for making an already awkward situation worse, assuming it was done out of jealousy or that he was attempting to make Leah jealous. She hoped it would remain a one-night stand and that she would somehow be spared any details.

Leah and Hodie hung out in his apartment the next day. They turned off their phones and avoided any emotional discussions, choosing to focus on each other alone. The day passed far too quickly, leaving them both disappointed when the time came for her to go home. Hodie had to work the following day and could not go along with her. Leah promised to text him goodnight before bed and clung to him a bit longer than necessary as she kissed him goodbye. She kept her smile plastered to her face, not wanting Hodie to see how worried she felt about leaving him home alone without protection. Leah made a second mental note to deposit her last few checks from the club and check her account balance. Buying her own place near La Push would make it easier for him to stay with her when he could. While Jacob and Bella were more than happy for the company, Leah worried about imposing. The young couple already took care of far too many people as it was. Leah still wasn't sure who had purchased her new vehicle for her and had a sneaking suspicion that it had been added to their loan from the Cullens.

Maybe I can get the Cullens to give me a loan to build a house near the border, too. It was an entertaining idea. When considering her many responsibilities, Leah thought it would certainly save her a lot of time running around. Not spotting Quil up the street from her own front porch all of the time could not hurt, either. As she neared Forks, Leah remembered to turn her phone back on. She tossed it into the passenger seat to let her notifications filter through. After it began pinging incessantly with an influx of messages, Leah turned on her flashers and pulled over.

Either something is really wrong, or Quil went and lost his ever-loving mind again, Leah thought, recalling the last time her phone had gone berserk. Numerous message previews rolled through, asking where she was and if she was alright. Rose had attempted to check on her, which made her suspicious. It was the message from Charlie that made her stomach drop.

Come home if you can, kiddo. We are having dinner with Jake and Bells tonight. Hope to see you there. We need to have a chat. Charlie texting usually meant serious business.

Shit. Leah turned off her flashers and sped toward LaPush.

Leah pulled into the drive just as the sun was setting. As she walked toward the house, Seth charged out the back door and toward her. He threw his arms around her, embracing her.

Leah hugged him back but grumbled, "Seth, what the hell? What is wrong."

Seth asked, "Why didn't you answer anyone? Did you stay with Hodie?"

She said, "Of course." Leah let go of her scowling brother and walked into the house. The remnants of a large dinner still sat on the table in the otherwise empty kitchen. Leah walked toward the low voices in the next room with Seth following closely behind her. Her family looked up at her with relief as she entered the living room. Leah sat down next to Bella, who immediately hugged her. Leah huffed, "Is someone going to tell me what this shit is all about? Is everything alright?"

Charlie forced a soft smile at her and said, "Glad to have you home, kiddo. You can go eat first if you're hungry."

Leah said, "I would actually rather get this over with first, whatever it is." She was far too anxious to eat until she knew what the hell was going on. Leah asked, "Is everyone alright? Did someone get hurt?"

The others glanced nervously around at each other before Charlie frowned and asked, "Leah? How much do you know about Hodie?"

She said, "I know some things. Hodie has been through a lot. It's not easy for him to talk about, but he's very forthcoming when asked." Bella was nodding in understanding, and Charlie glanced at her warily.

Charlie cleared his throat and said, "Uh, yeah. That is what Bells said, too. The thing is, I got a file emailed to me today."

Leah huffed with irritation and asked, "Seriously, Charlie? What did you do? Go do a background check on him?"

Cautiously, Jacob said, "No, Leelee." He leaned over and placed his hand on her shoulder. The look Jacob gave her made her stomach drop again. He was silently pleading for her to remain calm and listen. Leah glanced at her mother, who sat tight-lipped and silent as she bounced her leg anxiously.

Charlie asked, "Has Hodie told you anything about a criminal history, Leah?"

Leah admitted, "Some of it, yes." Every other face in the room turned to stare at her incredulously.

Charlie narrowed his eyes on Leah and asked, "When?"

A little too sharply, Leah asked, "When did he tell me, or when did he have problems with the cops?"

Seth scoffed and asked, "When did he tell you and which time that he had problems with the cops, Leah?"

Leah spun to face her little brother and snapped, "What the hell are you talking about? I know about his ex disappearing and how he was harassed over it."

Surprising Leah, Quil's voice rang out, "Again, which one, Leah?"

She stood and turned to face the doorway where he hovered. Leah glared and, mocking him, pointed at Quil in a warning. Her words were thick with sarcasm as she asked, "Listening in? Enjoying the commentary?" Quil gave her a genuine smile and shook his head as if she were simply playing. Leah remained silent in her surprise as he calmly walked over and pulled her down onto the couch at his side. What the fuck is he doing? Why is he even here right now?
She was baffled by this strange, calm, light-hearted Quil next to her, especially given the circumstances. Leah had nearly forgotten a cheerful version of Quil even existed. Quil looked up at the others and chuckled nervously. Leah caught the glares on the faces around the room and snickered, the coil of panic-filled tension inside of her springing free. Leah took a deep breath and sighed. Unfortunately, her calming breath allowed her to catch the faint remnants of Ode De Stripper. Chelsea's perfume clung to Quil, and the realization cut Leah more deeply than she wanted to admit.

Of course, he was chipper as fuck. What nineteen-year-old doesn't fantasize about a threesome with strippers? The mental picture of it immediately brought the scowl back to her face. Leah asked, "So, why the hell are you here? You still smell like Chelsea, you know?"

Quil said, "I had more important things to worry about than that. Your work friends like to talk, Leah. They talk a lot."

Leah rolled her eyes and said, "Yeah, I'm aware. They are all very gossipy. What does that have to do with you?"

Charlie huffed in aggravation and asked, "Quil, are you the one that emailed me this shit?"

He admitted, "No, but I'm the reason it was sent to you."

Bella snapped, "Quil, seriously? Why the hell won't you stop trying to interfere in her fucking relationship? Aren't your hands full with the Claire bullshit right now?"

Grinning, Leah reached into her back pocket for cash and slapped a twenty against Jacob's chest. Leah said, "Give him hell, Bells. I got you."
Charlie glanced over at his foul-mouthed daughter as if she had three heads for a moment and huffed. The collective laughter immediately cooled her temper, and Bella smiled at Leah sheepishly.

Bella said, "Well? Damn it, he is being a dick, and it's fucking unnecessary." Quil gaped at Bella in surprise, and she said, "I love you, Pal, but you are."

Sue shook with silent laughter as Charlie grumbled, "Anyway ... What is the chain of events over here, Quil?"

Quil explained, "They told me some of the rumors about Hodie. Of course, they also talked about how nice he is and said they didn't believe any of it. It brought back some of the shit I remembered hearing about him a few years ago when he quit surfing professionally. I had a gamer friend of mine dig into his public criminal records." Quil turned to smirk at Leah and added, "He found some pretty shady stuff, so he did a deeper search for me and forwarded the shit to Charlie."

Leah snapped, "So a fucking hacker? Your friend hacked into private police records?"

Quil said, "In other words, yeah. I guess."

Charlie glared at Quil and said, "I'm going to pretend I didn't just hear that." Under his breath, he grumbled, "Dumbass."

Ignoring the insult, Quil asked, "Leah, did you know he's a fucking murder suspect?"

Leah bluntly said, "Yes." She rolled her eyes as the others stared at her in disbelief. Leah threw up her hands and said, "What? Of course, I know about that shit, Quil. We are a couple. His mom died, and he quit surfing. He had vampires after him all the time. His ex-fiance and his best friend ran off together. Then the next girl he dated went to Seattle around the same time as those other disappearances. For all I know, we cremated the bitch out in the fucking meadow with the rest of them." Leah tried to blink back tears. She hated crying when she was angry. Having to defend Hodie this way made her furious.
I would never have come for this fucking conversation without Hodie had I known. He deserves to be able to defend himself.

Charlie rubbed his face and asked, "Do I even want to know what the hell you guys are talking about?"

There was a loud chorus of, "No!"

He looked slightly relieved as Charlie said, "Oh-kay." While Charlie had been told a great deal about the wolves and Cullens, he still didn't know about the newborn army that once came to claim the life of his daughter. A few of the missing person posters at the Forks police station still belonged to vampires they had to kill that day. Those, unfortunately, included someone who was supposed to be Bella's friend.

Leah grumbled. "Typical vampire bullshit, Dad. The point is, the cops harassed the hell out of him over her disappearance and basically traumatized the guy. Hodie loved her. He's not that kind of guy. He's one of the kindest people I have ever met!"

Jacob said, "He really does seem like a good dude, Charlie. He seems helpful. He is polite and friendly."

Quil quipped, "So was Ted Bundy."

Charlie huffed, and Leah chuckled as he rolled his eyes at her in aggravation. He opened the folder and said, "Well, Leah, I hate to tell you this, honey. I am suspicious as hell. This missing girlfriend he told you about? She is not the only disappearance he was connected to."

Leah hesitated to speak as she searched for the right words. It made sense there would be others in his life who had been collateral damage when he was a singer. Bella had certainly had her fair share of vampires trying to hunt her down. Why would it have been any different for Hodie? Leah said, "He is a singer. He and his mom were on the run his whole life because of vampires, just like Bells and Renee."

Charlie admitted, "I'm not so sure he and his mom had not gone on the run because of him, Leah. Or, hell, both of them, maybe? I don't know how to tell you this, kiddo. He has been formally questioned as a suspect in at least eight deaths or disappearances, including his mother. Has Hodie ever told you how she died?"

She felt like the wind had been knocked out of her. Hodie had been so harsh with Leah for holding back, for keeping secrets. He had only given her a tiny glimpse of the shit-show his life had been, she realized. No wonder he does not trust others or keep friends outside of work. All of the people he got close to died. Leah shook her head no.

Charlie said, "She was murdered, Leah. He found her, conveniently, after returning home from a short publicity tour of some sort. The thing was, she died the same day Hodie supposedly found her, Leah. His alibi is not solid. He was supposedly traveling, and he can't account for where he was at the time of death. There was no physical proof of his involvement, however."

Leah defended him again, saying, "Hodie would never have done anything to hurt her. He loved his mom and was devastated when she died."

His soothing, soft tone fell flat as Quil said, "You can't know that, Leah. You didn't know him then, sweetheart. You only know what he tells you."

Leah stood angrily and stomped across the room, away from Quil. She snapped, "Do not try to talk to me like I am some naive little girl, Quil Ateara. You can save that bullshit for Claire, okay? Hodie talks about his mom all the time. I know what I feel from him when he talks about her. I know that fucking pain!"
Her words triggered something in Quil and his face flushed with anger.

His voice rising, Quil said, "You are not the only one, Leah. There is only one person in this room who has both parents still living, and it's not me. Don't think I can't empathize with the motherfucker." Quil scoffed as he shook his head angrily and added, "I guess our other question got answered, though, didn't it, Jake?"

Jacob glanced over at Leah in confusion and asked, "Huh? What question?"

Walking toward the doorway, Quil snapped, "She feels what he feels now. He is her imprint, just like we fucking thought." Leah grimaced as Sue gasped and turned to gape at Charlie.

Leah hissed, "His name is Hodie." Quil stomped away from them into the kitchen and slammed the back door behind him. Bella cursed under her breath as Ethan began to cry. She got up and darted toward the nursery to get him. Leah felt as if the rest were staring at her wide-eyed, judging her.
Everyone is sitting here speculating on what they don't know anything about. In the meantime, Quil is being … Well, Leah didn't quite have the words for whatever he was being now. She had believed he crossed a line the night before, but that was nothing compared to the anger she felt for him now. Leah darted away from her family and out the back door after him.

Leah screamed at him, "I can't believe you!" Almost to his car, Quil spun on his heel in the driveway to stomp back to her. As he came near, Leah yelled, "First of all, thank you for announcing that to my mother when I'm not entirely sure that it's true. Even if he is, telling my parents is my business. Fucking secondly, where did your fucking ego come from, Quil? Where in the hell do you get off thinking you can just do whatever the hell you want? It was bad enough that you went home with women I fucking work with. Are you trying to turn my family against Hodie? You have your own imprint, Quil. Why are you interfering if you think I may have finally found mine? Do you even know what you actually want anymore, or are you just getting off by fucking with my life?"

Quil threw his hands up in exasperation and argued, "You know that is not what I'm doing, Leah. Fucking with your life was never my intention."

Cruelly, Leah said, "Could have fooled me. But then again, you will fuck with just about anything lately. I guess I shouldn't be surprised."

Quil snapped, "I didn't fuck Chelsea or Tricia." He rolled his eyes and sighed in an attempt to calm himself. "I was going to," he admitted. "In the end, I couldn't do it."

Feeling somewhat relieved, Leah could only say, "Oh." But, he was going to, and that was the point, wasn't it? As if he's not a skirt chaser, anyway.

Quil said, "They were drunk as hell. I shouldn't have let Chelsea drive. By the time we got to her apartment, I felt like the forty-year-old virgin riding with the drunk chick screaming about french toast." Leah laughed, unable to help it. She had made him watch that movie numerous times. Quil admitted, "I was only at her place for maybe an hour. I went to talk to my friend after that so I could dig into the bullshit they told me."

Leah said, "Quil, you have met the guy. Do you seriously think he is a fucking murderer? He is a singer."

Sarcastically, Quil said, "I don't know. Bella is a singer, too. The only folks dropping dead around here these days are vampires."

Leah laughed bitterly and said, "Oh, bullshit. She is a danger magnet, and we all know it. An entire army came after her, or have you forgotten? The reason vampires drop dead around here is because we kill them. How do we know that these people are not the collateral damage from a singer being at the wrong place at the wrong time?"

Quil countered, "Once, or twice, maybe. Eight missing or murdered people, Leah? That doesn't sit right."

Leah insisted, "An entire army of newborns, Quil."

Quil said, "The deaths are not all of it, either. He has been arrested for other shit. Theft. Assault and Battery. Domestic Battery. He has had two orders of protection placed against him. I remembered him being in the news over a bar fight when he was still surfing. I told you, Leah. You don't know him. You don't know a damn thing about him."

Sure, he had a temper, but Leah had never seen Hodie even threaten to hit anyone. She said, "Why the hell would our ancestors send me someone that was no good, Quil? How does any of that make sense?"

Incredulously, Quil asked, "You are seriously going to disregard everything else I just fucking said?"

Leah said, "Until I talk to Hodie and hear his side of things? Absolutely. I could make the same fucking arguments about our fucked up little family, Quil. Rachel knocks the shit out of Paul. Sam filleted Emily's fucking face. Angie's boyfriend had to die to put her and Embry at the right place and time. We all have had to lie, steal, cheat, sneak around or sleep around. We have all killed people, too. Vampires, yes, but they were people once. They had people that knew and loved them, Quil."

Quil complained, "God damn it, Leah."

Leah snapped, "No, Quil. Hodie is a good fucking person, and I'm not letting you ruin this for me. You hate him because I want to be with him."

Quil said, "That has nothing to do with this."

Leah yelled. "Like hell. As if what you were going to do last night had nothing to do with it, either."

Angrily, she spun away from him, intending to walk back into the house as her cell phone buzzed in her pocket. Leah glared back at Quil as she pulled out her phone, angry tears escaping as Hodie's name flashed on the screen. Leah took a deep breath and slowly raised her phone to her ear. She tried to compose herself and answered, "Hey, baby?"

Hodie said, "Hey Darlin'. You make it home safe?" The cheerful tone of his voice instantly began to calm her.

How the hell could he possibly be anything those files claimed? He had obviously not been kidding when he insisted Vampires had seriously fucked up his life. Leah said, "Yeah, I'm outside at Bella's right now."

Hodie said, "Good. I'm glad you're safe. I'm going to bed a little early, and I wanted to tell you goodnight before I did."

Leah asked, "Are you alright?"

Hodie admitted, "I have a headache. I have one of those bad vibes. I don't know what it is about, but my head is pounding."

I know what the fuck it's about, Leah thought as she shot a dirty look toward Quil.

Hodie asked, "Is everything okay over there?"

Leah said, "Aside from wishing you were here? Same old shit. Get some rest, okay? I hope you will feel better when you wake up."

Hodie said, "Leah? I love you."

She smiled though she had to blink back tears, wishing she were lying next to him instead. "I love you, too," she answered clearly, both for Hodie's benefit and Quil's. "I will talk to you in the morning."

Quil strode toward her as she hung up and shoved her phone back into her pocket. Jacob poked his head out the kitchen door as Quil was about to speak, making Quil pause. Tentatively, Jacob asked, "Everything okay out here?"

Leah scowled at Quil and grumbled, "It's fine." She ducked under his arm as Jacob held the screen door open and went back to the living room. Ethan and Sarah were awake now, with Sarah happily attempting to yank Charlie's mustache. Leah sat back down next to Bella and gestured for her to hand the baby over. She leaned back, holding Ethan on her chest as she rubbed his back. Leah took a deep breath and chuckled as Ethan did the same, instantly calming while she gently rocked him.

Looking up at Charlie and Sue, Leah asked, "Can we finish this conversation?"

Charlie said, "Honestly, honey, I don't know if there is really a finish. Hodie was never convicted for most of this stuff. Not for any of the deaths, for sure. You gotta admit, kiddo, eight people …" Charlie shook his head.

Leah said, "Look, I will give you that. Eight is … excessive. But, look at it like this, okay? Hodie has had every opportunity to hurt me if he wanted to and has never tried. He is so damn respectful that he would not even kiss me without asking permission. I don't mean just the first time. I mean, every time, for weeks. When people are upset at work, he is the one that comforts them. Hodie worked as an EMT for a while. If one of the bouncers gets cut in a fight, he patches them up." Leah paused to look over at a grinning Jacob.

Jacob snickered and said, "Outside of the bloody stuff, he sounds like Bells."

Leah said, "Hodie is a lot like Emmett, too. He is super open-minded. Hodie does not judge other people for the shit they do. He was genuinely shocked to hear us talk shit on Paul. Hodie does not talk shit like we do at all." She grinned as Jacob nodded and laughed. Leah turned back to Charlie and said, "He took care of me when I was injured. We have fought plenty already, and even when he was pissed at me, he never raised a hand to me or even got mean. Hell, he has been pissed at me and still hugged me while I flipped out. When I get super pissed at work and have to toss some jerk out the door, he is the one who calms me down somehow. All we have to do is look at one another and we both calm down at work." Leah glanced toward Sue as she shifted her position. Sue smirked at Leah as she listened intently.

I seem to be convincing my mom, at least. Either that or she is recognizing imprint bullshit I never even thought about. Pushing the thought away, Leah continued, "I have literally never witnessed him being cruel or intentionally mean to anyone. I have never seen him threaten or try to hit anyone. Our co-workers trust him implicitly, and honestly, most of his friends are women. Our friend from work goes to his place to escape her abusive boyfriend, like, all the time. Hodie never even offers to beat the guy up. Actually, I offer to beat the guy up." Leah let out a frustrated chuckle. You're fucking rambling now, Clearwater. She said, "I'm telling all of you, this shit from his past is because he is a singer. Hodie even has gifts. Like Bells."

For the first time since Leah had arrived, Sue spoke up, asking, "What do you mean, gifts?"

Leah said, "He can sense lies. He senses when something is wrong or when trouble is coming. He just called me while I was outside because he got a bad feeling. It was giving him a headache. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was because everyone was sitting around talking about him. Also, did Bella or Jacob tell you that he is actually blood-related to Emmett? His great-grandmother was Emmett's little sister."

Charlie and Sue both nodded and laughed at each other as if they had heard it before, and it was just as unbelievable the second time.

Quil said, "Leah, absolutely none of those things means Hodie is not capable of murder." Leah sighed dramatically and turned to glare at Quil as he hovered in the doorway.

Leah snapped, "Would you go home and shower already? You smell like a French whore."

Quil said, "Nice. I'll be sure to tell your friend you think she smells like a hooker."

Leah scoffed and said, "It smells fine on Chelsea. It just smells cheap on you."

Quil laughed and asked, "So, I'm the whore?"

Leah turned back toward Charlie and grinned. She mumbled, "He said it."

Charlie had to bite back a laugh, despite his aggravation. He said, "Leah, I'm going to look more into this shit. Not because I don't believe you, or I think Hodie is a bad person. It is because I care about the safety of this whole family. Including you, okay? Sometimes it is not all about the supernatural, kiddo. Sometimes the monsters are just people."

Unable to look Charlie in the eye, Leah stared down at Ethan and nodded softly. She slowly handed Ethan back to Bella and stood.

Leah said, "I'm going to go home. I need to shower, and I have patrol in the morning."

She could hear the worry in his voice as Charlie said, "Leah ..."

Leah held her hand up and gestured for him to stop. Wanting to reassure him, she said, "Dad? I love you. I love all of you, okay? We can talk later if you want, but for now, I need to go be alone for a bit." Charlie visibly sighed with relief. He winked at her in return, and Leah knew it was enough.

Sue said, "Honey, are you going to eat something?"

Leah said, "Hodie and I ate right before I drove home. I'm fine." She leaned down to kiss Bella on the cheek. Her sister forced a sympathetic smile at her before Leah pushed Quil out of her way and left the room.

She cringed as she felt him silently following her from the house. When the screen door shut behind him, Leah spun on him again. She snapped, "What? Are you conveniently leaving, too, or do you plan on sticking your nose directly in my ass, Quil?"

Quil's eyes sparkled with mischief as he said, "I haven't been in that position in a while."

Seth's voice rang out, "Oh, God damn it!"

Startled, Leah turned to find her little brother rounding the side of the house, overhearing them. She tried to hold back her laughter and covered her face in her hands. Seth stomped past them and into the house, turning back to scowl at Quil. It was a moment before either she or Quil could stop laughing. Leah finally lowered her hands, looking directly up into Quil's soft green eyes. For a moment, Leah was transported back, lost in the eyes of the immature, wannabe casanova she had somehow fallen in love with. They were the eyes of a giant with too many secrets, set slightly too close together on a handsome face that appeared ten years older than it was. They were the eyes of a playful Jack Of All Trades with a devil-may-care attitude and an underappreciated talent with a guitar. All of that was supported by a brain that Leah once joked consisted of three pounds of bong water. Despite everything else, they were the eyes of a man she had fallen in love with, good and bad. Quil was someone that Leah had learned to trust with both her mind and her body. She had never intended to give him a piece of her heart as well. He had stolen it right out from under her nose before leaving her bleeding for him internally for months. Leah unconsciously stepped toward him and sighed. Quil reached up and gently brushed a strand of hair out of her face. Leah shivered from the brief contact of his fingertips on her skin.

Much calmer now, Leah asked, "Why couldn't you have just come to me about this shit, Quil? Hell, you could have even gone to Hodie and simply asked. Why did you have to involve everyone else?"

Quil said, "Everyone else is already involved, Leelee. We're all in this shit together. If one might be in danger, that affects all of us. Jake would find out, one way or another. Do you think he wouldn't have told Charlie something like this?"

Leah said, "No way. Jake would have talked to me because he has trust in me. He didn't argue against a single thing I said in there, did he?"

Quil admitted, "He didn't. You're right. But, I think Charlie would have found out, anyway. Seemed easiest to just get right to it." It was a point she could not argue with. The lack of privacy among the group was no more a secret than the rest. Still, it did not give him any right to do what he had done.

Leah said, "Easiest for you, maybe. You still should have come to me. You know Hodie is a singer. How could you not even consider that he is a victim in all of this bullshit? Hell, if his mom was murdered, he probably had to go into hiding from whatever killed her. That's likely why he stopped surfing professionally."

Quil complained, "You're making assumptions." He pinched the top of his nose in aggravation.

Leah said, "Like you haven't? All of this has been brought to light, without Hodie's consent, because of your assumptions."

Quil scowled at her and said, "That's a bit of a stretch, isn't it?"

His attitude brought her anger back with a vengeance, and she turned away from him. Leah growled and said, "Stop fucking trying to gas-light me, Quil Ateara. Regardless of your intentions, opinion, or your assumptions, you were wrong to do this."

Quil reached out to gently grip her shoulders and turned her to face him again. He said, "Leah, I care about what happens to you. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

While Leah didn't doubt Quil cared about her safety, she refused to allow him to confuse her further. She said, "Maybe you just don't want me with Hodie."

Quil argued, "Maybe I feel like you have been hurt enough."

Leah clenched her jaw shut as she did her best to not slap the shit out of Quil right then and there. As if going home with Chelsea and Tricia was not supposed to hurt me. Fucking Claire in our spot wasn't hurtful enough? Texting bullshit to make Hodie think I was a cheater wasn't enough? Breaking my heart and wasting eight months waiting for him to fucking take me back wasn't enough? Then he pulls this shit on top of everything? Bullshit. Leah bit down on her bottom lip to keep from screaming at him and shook her head angrily. She pulled away from his grip and began walking to her car.
I could peg Quil Ateara for many things, but I never thought one would be narcissistic. His behavior for the last month had been entirely manipulative.

I wish like hell that I didn't still love him, too. Even if those feelings were overshadowed by her feelings for Hodie, they remained firmly embedded in her soul. He would probably always be the one that got away. That didn't mean she wanted to give up Hodie to be with Quil now.

As if knowing her thoughts, Quil called after her. "I love you, Leah."

Leah looked back at him over her shoulder and snapped, "Then fucking act like it." She cringed as she realized what she had said, hoping he didn't see it as an invitation. Before he could respond, she was in her car and pulling the door shut. Ignoring him as he yelled after her one last time, Leah pulled onto the highway and drove home.

What do you guys think? Are they right to be suspicious? Is Hodie's past something Leah needs to worry about?
How do you feel about Quil's behavior? Leave those thoughts, my lovies, and ratsies. XO
