I followed Callista through the forest. The sun was now rising in the sky. The forest was lit with an orange glow. Callista had me following her all night to a deeper part of the forest. Who knows how far we've gone?
"We're here." Callista announced and stopped. There was a large oak tree behind her and wild flowers surrounded the forest floor and around the huge trunk of the tree.
"Where is here, exactly?" I asked.
Callista turned to me with a small smile, "You want to become like me do you not?" She asked.
I furrowed my brows together, "How do you know that?"
"I spoke to the man you know as Shane. That's why I was a little bit late getting to you. He has motives that I do not agree with and that matter was more urgent. I'm sure he will ignore my warning and continue trying to resurrect my brother." Now I was confused.
"Wait. Brother?" I asked in confusion.
Callista grinned, "Silas wasn't just a witch that turned me into what I am. He's my brother. Half-brother if you want to get technical." Callista answered.
My jaw dropped hearing that, "If Silas is your brother, then why do you not want him to be brought back?"
"Because my brother does not have pure intentions. Qetsiyah took away the love of his life and he wants to be rejoined with her. He will turn everything upside down in order to achieve that. There are some things best to be left alone. Silas is one of them. As is the cure." That piqued my interest.
"Why is that?" Callista sighed.
"The cure is sealed with Silas. The cure is meant to be used on Silas to make him mortal so he could die and be stuck on the other side instead of being reunited with his love in the afterlife. It's not meant for anyone else but him. Your friends are mistaken thinking everyone can take the cure. It's only one dose." Callista said and held up one finger.
"Now, back to the subject at hand here. You want to become an Original Werewolf. Lucky for you, you're the only wolf that I'd be willing to do that for." Callista noticed my confusion and continued.
"Maybe it would be better if I start at the very beginning. Silas is only my half brother. We have the same father, different mothers. Silas's mother died of an illness when he was just a babe. Our father met my mother in a neighboring village. They fell in love, married, and later I was born. However, I was born with a disability. In today's times the disease is called Muscular Dystrophy. As soon as I learned how to walk, I quickly lost it. It only got worse as I got older. By the time I turned eighteen, I was completely reliant on other people to care for me and I was stuck in a chair that was moved for me." Callista took a seat on one of the oak trees' large roots.
"Because of me, other villagers began to think that our family was cursed by the gods. We were outcasted. It didn't help that Silas developed magic that he got from his mother. A group called the Travelers took us in. That's where Silas first met Qetsiyah. Qetsiyah was smitten by my brother. To the point when Silas begged Qestiyah for a way to cure me of my disease, she created a spell."
"Artemis' Blessing." I answered. Callista nodded and continued.
"The spell was designed to call upon nature itself to heal. The full moon was the power for the spell, the garden's life essence, and finally the blood of the wolf. A creature often depicted to be one of power. One night, Silas forced me to the garden. He performed the spell as Qetsiyah instructed him. He made me drink the wolf's blood mixed with the immortality elixir that Qetsiyah made. After the spell was done, it was the first time I turned into a wolf. Thus the first Werewolf was created. It healed me of my disease but at a cost. Every full moon after that, I would turn into a wolf again. It was a side effect of the spell that Qetsiyah nor Silas could have foreseen."
"So turning into a wolf wasn't supposed to happen?" I asked. Callista shook her head.
"According to Qetsiyah, it wasn't. It was an imperfect version of the Immortality Spell she would later create. She crafted me a ring with witch's hazel to protect me from magic in hopes of stopping the transformation into a wolf every full moon." I stared at Callista with wide eyes and looked down at my ring.
"That's right. That ring you have on your finger, use to belong to me." I fiddled with my ring before looking back up at Callista.
"This ring is passed down in my family. How did we get it?" I asked.
Callista gave a soft smile, "Because the Hale's are my descendants. You already know I found my mate in the 5th century. What most people don't know is that we had a family after I tried to cure myself of Lycanthropy. I didn't get the result I wanted but my mate convinced me that part of him will live on through our children and their children after. I gave that ring to my eldest who gave it to their eldest and so on. Now, it's yours." I started to piece everything together. That's what she meant by I'm the only wolf she would think of turning.
"That's what you meant by I'm the only wolf you'd be willing to turn into an Original Werewolf." Callista nodded.
"You're in the same predicament that I once was. I didn't know back then what I know now. My friend should be here by the time to cast the spell, but first I have to know. Have you evolved already?"
I nodded, "I have. Why?" Callista grimaced.
"It would have been a more awkward encounter. The spell will only work on evolved werewolves. We have everything else. This tree has been here for hundreds of years, that will provide the life essence we need. My blood, of course, still has the elixir that Qetsiyah made running through it. Then the moon." I frowned at that.
"Doesn't it have to be a full moon? That isn't until the end of the week." I told her.
"Not exactly. There will be a new moon in three days. A new moon is just as powerful as a full moon. My witch friend will be here by then. Until then, we just wait. In the meantime, I could teach you more about being an Original Werewolf." Callista offered.
"I'll take you up on that offer." I agreed and Callista gave me a grin.
"Excellent."
Three Days Later
No One's P.O.V
Damon laid on the floor of the cellar of the Salvatore Boarding house. Kol had compelled him to kill Jeremy and now here he is. Bled out and weak. Damon's ears pick up the sound of footsteps getting closer.
He looks up to see Stefan standing there. "You coming to snap my neck again? Because I woke up feeling completely un-murderous, and I'm pretty sure it's safe to set me free." Stefan said nothing and threw Damon a vial of blood.
Damon picked up the vial and examined it, "Oh man, really? You practically bled me dry. At least spring for a bag or something. I'm thirsty."
Stefan again said nothing and placed a water bottle between the bars of the small door window. "Not exactly what I had in mind." Damon muttered. He grunted as he got up and walked over to the door.
As he grabs the water bottle, he notices Klaus standing on the other side of the door next to Stefan.
"Hello, mate." Klaus greeted with a smile.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Damon demanded.
Klaus' grin grew more, "Babysitting." He replied. "Oh." Damon acknowledged.
"Give him a vial of blood every couple of hours, so he doesn't desiccate. If he gets too much strength back, or if he just annoys you, bleed him out again." Stefan instructed Klaus and gave him the other vials of blood.
"Silent treatment, huh? Is that your best shot?" Damon said looking at Stefan, then turned to Klaus, "He's still pissed at me for sleeping with Elena."
"You sure about that? 'Cause I saw him trying to sneak out of Rebekah's bed this morning, which would suggest to me that he's moved on." Klaus taunted and looked over at Stefan with a smirk.
Stefan let out a sigh as Damon copied Klaus's smirk, "Well, well. Looks like my brother ripped out a page of my revenge-sex handbook."
"Well, why don't you two enjoy your little, uh, villain bonding time? I'll let you know when I get the dagger from Rebekah." Stefan said and left back upstairs.
Klaus was walking around the cellar while Damon laid on a bed while throwing a rock up in the air and catching it.
"You know, none of this would be an issue if you'd have just done your job properly. I was perfectly willing to let you train Jeremy." Klaus mentioned as he side eyed Damon.
"No, you weren't. Are you kidding? You got there on day two. Do you know how hard it is to get these Xbox brains to focus?" Damon scoffed.
"And then when I turned a room full of barflies into vampires for him to slaughter, you let Kol kill them." Klaus retorted.
"Your brother problem, not mine, buddy." Damon fired back.
"Whose bright idea was it to saddle Jeremy with a conscience, hmm?" Klaus asked, stopping his pacing and facing Damon.
"Well, we couldn't have him trying to stake Elena in her sleep, now, could we?" Damon quipped.
"Ah, yes, for the love of Elena. How is it that she manages to overlook every horrific thing you've ever done? Is it willful ignorance or perhaps more pathological?" Klaus asked.
"Some people are just more capable of forgiveness than others. Bet you score about negative 500 in that realm." Damon taunted.
Klaus' playful smile dropped and was replaced with a serious look, "What is it you say to her?" Damon caught the rock and gave Klaus a curious look.
Damon sat up on the bed, "This is about a certain werewolf isn't it? Allye's been AWOL the past three days which tells me she knows what you did to Carol Lockwood. You're worried she's never going to forgive you, aren't you?" Damon asked. Klaus' silence spoke volumes to Damon.
"I wouldn't worry too much. Allye is pretty forgiving, she forgave me for absolutely crushing her heart without killing me or attempting to. You killing Carol Lockwood can't be the only reason why she's gone for this long. You've had to really hurt her to make her disappear. What'd you do?" Damon asked.
"I said something out of anger that I truly did not mean. She tried to help me with my Hybrids weeks ago. I took her advice and it didn't work, clearly." Damon winced.
"Did you seriously blame Allye for Tyler Lockwood's stupid plan of getting rid of you? Allye has been through hell and back to make sure that your Original ass is safe from any of our plans to get rid of you. Tyler knew that and drugged her with wolfsbane so she wouldn't stop him. Allye can forgive you for being the bad guy. She's played that part well and knows someone has to play that role. What you did though, was just being a dick. Have you even attempted to call her since she went AWOL?" Damon asked. Klaus said nothing.
"Don't mess up like I did and let Allye get away. Compared to how you acted a couple days ago, when Allye's with you even I can tell you're a better person. Stop being a coward and call your mate and if you're really sorry, tell her that." Damon said and leaned back down on the bed.
He started to throw the rock back in the air. Klaus looked at Damon then casted his gaze to the ground.
"Stay here. If I hear you so much as try to escape, I will break your neck." Klaus threatened and walked out of the cellar. He closed the cellar door and took out his phone.
Klaus headed up stairs and dialed Allye's number on his contact list.
"Tsk." He let a sound out as it went straight to voicemail.
'Hey you've reached Allye. Leave me a message.'
The tone sounded in Klaus' ear and his mind suddenly went blank. He hesitantly began to talk.
"Allye, love. I know I'm the last person you want to hear from right now. I'm sorry for what I said to you. I have no excuses for the way I acted. Please love, come home. It's not the same without you." Klaus hung up the phone and stared at it before sighing. He put his phone back in his pocket and headed downstairs again.
Allye's P.O.V
I walked through the dark forest. The only light shown were the two torches that were lit by the large oak tree. Callista stood there with a man that had brown hair and eyes to match next to her.
"Allye, right on time. This is Ajax. He's my witch friend that knows Artemis' Blessing." Ajax nodded at me.
Ajax held out his hand to me, "Before we proceed, you need to take off your ring. The spell will not work if you still wear it." I slid the ring off my finger and placed it on the palm of Ajax's hand.
Ajax walked off and placed my ring on a stand that had a box on it. He grabbed the box and walked over to Callista. He opened the box and Callista proceeded to pull a silver chalice from it.
"That looks ancient." Callista let a chuckle escape her lips.
"That's because it is. This is the very chalice that I drank from for the spell. The chalice itself is enchanted by Qetsiyah herself. This is a key part of the spell that isn't as public knowledge as the rest." Ajax set the box back down then took the silver chalice from Callista.
He held it for her while she took a knife from her pocket. She cut the palm of her hand and held it above the chalice. Her blood filled the chalice and stopped once her wound healed.
"The new moon is at its strongest right now. Allye, please stand over there." Ajax directed.
"Now, once the spell is complete it will force you to turn. When you do, you will have no control. I'll keep an eye on you to make sure you don't hurt anyone. And I won't lie to you. This will hurt." Callista warned me.
"I know, I didn't expect this to be easy." I said with a nod.
I stood just in front of the oak tree. Ajax began to chant in Latin and the fire on the torches started to grow. Ajax twirled his hand around the silver chalice as he chanted. He then handed me the chalice.
I took the chalice and looked at Callista's blood in it. It almost looked like it was shimmering.
"No going back now." I muttered and chugged the blood down. I made a face of disgust after every drop went down my throat. Blood tastes good for vampires, not so much for werewolves.
Ajax took the chalice back and he started to speak louder as he chanted. I didn't feel any different until my body started to feel like it was burning.
Then the pain started. I let out a cry as I heard and felt a sickening crack. My bones were breaking and my limbs moved without my control. More sounds of bones cracking echoed in the forest. I was slowly brought down to my knees from the pain. My body lurched forward and I caught myself with my hands. It felt like my body was ripping from the inside out.
I could feel my fangs and claws form. My screams started to turn into snarls and growls. My eyes glowed bright crimson red as my body started to take the shape of my wolf form. Then everything went black.
No One's P.O.V
Callista stood next to Ajax and stared at Allye's wolf form before them. A large black wolf with glowing red eyes stared back at them. Allye let out a growl before running off.
"I'll keep an eye on her. Keep your phone on standby. She'll need a new pair of clothes once she turns back. Whenever that will be." Callista instructed Ajax.
"Of course, Lady Callista." Ajax bowed to Callista. Callista in an instant shifted into her own wolf form. Callista's wolf form stood just as tall as Allye's. Her pelt had a more ashen color and her eyes glowed a golden hue. Callista ran off in the same direction Allye had just taken off.
Our girl is finally an Original Werewolf! We find out more about Callista. She's the start of the Hale Bloodline and the half-sibling to Silas himself. Now we know why Shane told Allye that her bloodline is practically royalty. The first of the species is the Hale's ancestor. We get a quick look at Klaus and discover that without Allye by his side, he's off the rails. Turning a bar full of innocent into vampires for the hunter's mark, something that wouldn't have happen if Allye had been there. He regrets what he said that night and wants her back. They'll reunite soon though.
