I do not own the vampire diaries in any way shape or form.

Set in season 2, what if Klaus wanted to claim Elena as his mate, instead of sacrificing her? Klaus doesn't take over Alaric's body, Klaus still has Katherine.

Elena was in the cafeteria, talking to Bonnie when Dana came up to them insisting on getting Elena's help on her project. Elena and Bonnie didn't seem to have any suspicions so Elena got up and followed Dana, leaving Bonnie in the cafeteria. Dana stopped and turned to the dark classroom opening the door. Elena started feeling uneasy.

"It's just in here."

Dana took Elena's hand and led her into the dark empty classroom. After a moment Dana paused and let Elena's hand go. Dana turned towards the door, and walked out the room, Elena narrowed her eyes and went to go with her but someone grabbed her hips from behind. Elena's body stilled, hoping that her worst fear hadn't come true. Dana locked the door from the outside and walked away. The person turned Elena around so that she was facing him.

"Hello love." Klaus said menacingly

"Klaus?" Elena breathed, hoping it wasn't true.

Klaus smirked and let go of her hips. Elena made a run towards the door, jiggling the handle, only to find that it was locked. Klaus sped to her and pinned her to the door. The lights came on and she could finally get a good look at him. 'He was completely and utterly perfect, his dark blonde hair and his blue-green eyes fit him perfectly. He rivaled, no maybe even surpassed Stefan and Damon-' She thought, stopping herself from thinking that way. Klaus was her enemy and she was dating Stefan. He wanted to kill her for god's sake. She swallowed hard, noticing that he was examining every inch of her body, while keeping her pinned to the door.

"Leaving so soon?" Klaus quipped, pushing Elena's hair behind her face.

Elena slapped him with all of her strength, sure she was trapped but that didn't mean she would let him do whatever he wanted to her. Klaus's head turned a little from the slap, he turned his head back towards her.

"There's that petrova fire."

Elena glared at him, if she was going to die today so be it. If she was being honest she should've died when her parents car went off that bridge. Klaus pushed her head aside and bit into Elena's neck. Elena tried to fight him off but it was like he didn't even feel a thing. He pulled out after getting his fill of her blood, her blood was absolutely amazing, he hadn't tasted anything like it. He had come to her school to scare her, but now he knew he had to have her. Sure he could compel her to be completely his, but where's the fun in that? The girl was vervain free so he could use that to his advantage. Elena looked faint, he realized that he may have taken a little too much. Klaus grabbed her chin, making her eyes meet his.

"You will not tell anyone this moment, you will lie and say that you helped Dana with her project and went home because you weren't feeling well if anyone should ask. I will take you home and you will invite me into your house."

Elena repeated what Klaus's words, causing Klaus to smirk. Klaus pushed her hair to the front so it covered the bite mark before leading her out of the school. They were almost to his car when Jeremy stopped them.

"Elena? Where are you going, Bonnie said you missed you weren't in class." Jeremy said worriedly pausing when he saw Klaus.

"I'm going home, I'm not feeling well." Elena stated, almost robotically.

"Who's that?" Jeremy asked.

Klaus gasped and hit Elena playfully.

"Is this your brother? And you haven't told him about me?" Klaus said, acting hurt about it.

"I'm Marcus, Elena's best friend. I just transferred to this school a few days ago. Nice to meet you…" Klaus announced, waiting for his name.

"Jeremy… you don't look like a teenager." Jeremy stated with his eyebrow raised.

"I tend to get that a lot." Klaus said, shrugging.

Jeremy looked him over again, before deciding that Marcus wasn't a threat to Elena. Jeremy examined her one last time and nodded walking away. Klaus smirked and put her into his car, starting to drive to her house.

"What the hell!" Elena yelled outraged.

"What? Do you not like the name Marcus?" Klaus quipped.

Elena rolled her eyes, he wasn't taking this seriously, and why should he? It's not like he cared about her life.

"Why are you doing all of this, when you're just going to kill me?" Elena asked.

"Doing what?" Klaus teased, he knew exactly what she was talking about.

"Coming to my school, meeting my brother, pretending to be my friend… it doesn't make sense. I could see if you just wanted to scare me but this…" Elena stated, at first there was hatred in her voice but that hatred turned into confusion.

"You're reading far too much into this, love."

They arrived at Elena's family home and Elena invited Klaus into the house. Klaus healed Elena, much to her disliking. He was about to leave when he remembered something and turned back around.

"You will not tell anyone who I really am, you will say that Marcus is your new friend if they ask, nothing more and nothing less. You will clean yourself up and take a nap."

After repeating Klaus's words robotically, Elena headed up the stairs, going into the bathroom, and turning the shower water on. Klaus smirked and left Elena's house.

When Stefan and Damon heard from Jeremy and Bonnie that Elena wasn't feeling good and she was headed to their house Damon was outraged, while Stefan was worrying for Elena's safety. Bonnie was supposed to be with her at all times, now Elena was all alone, anything could happen to her. After she still hadn't arrived at their house when school ended they searched the whole town looking for her. Jeremy had found her in her bed, sleeping. Jeremy sighed and informed the group of Elena's whereabouts and that Elena was safe. Damon, Stefan, and Bonnie arrived there almost immediately after being told.

"It doesn't make sense, why would she come here?" Stefan said, looking at Elena sleep.

"Maybe she didn't want her new friend to get a wrong impression of her." Jeremy announced, shrugging.

"What new friend?" Bonnie asked, she didn't recall hearing Elena mention a new friend.

"Marcus." Jeremy answered.

"Who's Marcus?" Stefan asked.

"The transfer student… Elena didn't mention him?" Jeremy said in a confused tone.

"Oh, Marcus… yeah I remember him. Great guy." Bonnie mused.

Bonnie had no idea who Marcus was, but she knew Elena hadn't told them about him for a reason. Whatever that reason might be… Bonnie would have her back.

"We should get her out of here." Damon announced, bringing the attention back to Elena.

Stefan picked Elena up, carrying her bridal style. Elena snuggled into his chest, Stefan knew she probably wasn't going to wake up any time soon.

Klaus walked into his apartment, finding Katherine repeatedly stabbing her leg with the knife. Klaus watched her for a moment, before going into his room to make a phone call. After he stepped out of the room Katherine glared at him.

"After everything you've done to me, you're not going to break the curse?" Katherine asked, not believing what she had just heard.

Klaus approached Katherine and brushed his hand against her hair, Katherine's breath hitched, and her body was shaking. This was the one man she was truly afraid of.

"Why so jumpy?" Klaus asked, clearly satisfied with her reaction.

"Please, just kill me." Katherine said, letting out a shaky breath.

"And show you kindness?" Klaus paused before continuing.

"Besides you could be of use to me in the future." Klaus stated, before walking out the room.

Elena slowly opened her eyes, and her memory of the day came back to her. Her eyes widened and her breathing became quicker, Klaus was in mystic falls, he was going to kill her.

"You okay?" Damon asked.

"No." Elena stated, feeling overwhelmed.

Stefan went over to her and put his hand on her forehead, making sure she wasn't sick anymore.

"You feel fine. Elena, what's wrong?" Stefan asked, his eyes filled with worry.

Elena opened her mouth, but nothing came out. The compulsion was kicking in. Oh how badly she wanted to tell them. Elena closed her eyes and swallowed hard, knowing that she was officially doomed.

"Bad dream." She stated, with a sigh.

They seemed to believe her because they dropped the subject and moved on to what they really wanted to know.

"Elena why did you go to your old house instead of coming here?" Stefan asked.

Elena's body stilled, her brain searching rapidly for a believable lie. What if her lie wasn't believable? Could that be a loophole? She could necessarily hint to Klaus being here, couldn't she? Elena took a deep breath in, this had to work. She opened her mouth to say something that would definitely give her away.

"I wasn't feeling well earlier, it must've slipped my mind, I'm sorry." Elena stated.

The words flew out of her mouth, but it wasn't Elena's words. It was Klaus's, that damned compulsion. It was far deeper than Elena thought.

"Elena, who's Marcus?" Damon asked.

"He's just a friend." Elena announced, gritting her teeth.

"You've never mentioned him before…" Stefan stated.

"I don't need to tell you every single detail of my life." Elena snapped, her tone was harsh.

A flash of shock and concern flashed across Stefan's face. Stefan sat down on the bed and put his hand on her thigh.

"Your right, we just wanted to make sure you were safe." Stefan said in a sincere tone.

Elena just nodded in response, she was silently beating herself up on the inside. Even if what she said was true, she knew they were only trying to help. She would have to get rid of the compulsion as soon as possible, but first she needed to get some vervain. She was not planning on being Klaus's compelled toy. Elena was not planning to be a part of whatever sick game Klaus was attempting to play.
